This review is in regards to the service staff. I don't think they get enough credit! Drew (service manager) is the best around! My truck had to be in the shop for a while, and Drew helped me get a loaner truck (so I could work) while mine was in the shop. Their technicians are great at what they do, and Drew walked me through everything when I picked up my truck. I was lied to by MIKE THE MANAGER (SNAKE) about the rebates and discounts on a specific car. They wrote up the contract to give to my bank and suddenly those figures changed. I was also quoted for an additional feature to be installed and the price on that also went up. Not only did they waste my time they wasted my banks time. I would suggest not believing ANYTHING you see for pricing on the website, because it will change. I also noted a $1,000 difference in asking price on another car on their page compared to their fleet page. Same VIN same car, DIFFERENT price. Still trying to make them see that the small differences they did on the contract will effect my banks decision. Hoping they will realise that what they are doing is not morally right. I was surprised to see this dealership didn't have 5 star reviews across the board. To start, I dealt with Brad D as my salesmen, i dont have 1 bad word to say about him, outstanding. I was in search of a very special vehicle, only about 5000 of them were manufactured, a 2020 Ford Mustang GT500. I searched all over the internet looking at dealerships all over the country, i continued to run into the same problem, dealerships lying about the price of the vehicle. They'd post it as one price, I'd call them and they'd tell me it's actually $10,000+ more than what they have online. After A LOT of research I know exactly what they should be going for. I see the price these guys have listed on line and it was a VERY good price. I called fully expecting them to tell me it's not the real price online and that it's actually higher, but that's not what happened. They ensured me the price listed online is what they're selling for. I jumped all over it and put a small down payment on it for them to hold it for me (the car hadn't been built yet, it was still in flat rock scheduled to be built). Brad was responsive every step of the way, he went out of his way to get me information from ford about the vehicles build process as I wanted as much documentation about the vehicle as I could get, given the rarity and specialty of the vehicle. Brad and everyone at van Horn were up front and honest with me about EVERYTHING. I planned on paying cash for the vehicle, but since they were so amazing to me, I did a short term loan (3months) to help them out and they in return knocked off a little on the price of the car, and some other stuff as a thank you for me financing. AND!!!! Free oil changes for as long as I own the vehicle. Which is very helpful considering this beast 5.2L V8 takes 11.5 quarts of full synthetic oil. I drove up there last week (I'm from Chicago, so about a 1hr 45min drive) to get the oil change and they were great again. I couldn't be happier with the car and with the dealership, everyone was so nice. I hope this review puts to rest some people's worries about this place. This is a terrible dealership, with some of the snakiest salesman I've ever met. If you do end up going there, make sure to stay away from Mike. He will do anything to get a sale and is willing to tell any lies that come up. Let me tell you what my experience with them was. I've been looking to purchase a car to replace my lease that is running out. I was looking for a way to give up my current lease and bring that into the pricing of the new car I purchase. I found a vehicle at Van Horn that I really like so I contacted them about what my needs are. The issues kind of started at this point, because Mike was extremely unresponsive. He gave answers about my lease saying "we probably can't do anything about it" and then asked to jump on a call. When I called him, he didn't answer and instead had the front desk person to call me and let me know that the car was a "manufacturer buy back". This is certainly an issue but I have a really close friend who owns an auto shop who called and talked to the dealer himself, who told him that they offer 12 month warranty on the car from ford and additional 36 month bumper to bumper. At this point I still had no answer about my lease so I pressed them on it, but the front desk person just told me they need to see the car first and they can provide more information if I send the VIN, which I did to Mike. There was simply no response to this. I decided to go anyway, which mind you is an hour drive away from me. This was the reason I wanted to find out as much information as possible. Before going, I also got a pre-approval from capital one with exact payment info. At the dealer, we did a test drive, and the car was great. I was ready to buy it at the spot. At this point, I go in and Mike tells me that essentially there is no way he can do anything about my lease. I need to just give it back at, because it's within 120 days of lease end so I still need to make the last lease payments. This was a bit frustrating, but I would still go forward because I liked the car. Now, mike goes and prints off a payment sheet with their financing options, and adds their extended warranty on there. He also changes the term to 72 month to be around the same monthly payment I had. The total cost of the car? $4000 more than it was initially. My mechanic friend and I inquire about the actual warranty, and it turns out it was all a lie. Ford provides 12 month only on the fuel injector and nothing else (since it was replaced) and the 36 month, only really goes until 2019, because it counts from an earlier date. The warranty he wants to sell me is also pretty crappy, doesn't really provide any coverage. I'm a bit hesitant, because it's a manufacturer buy back and doesn't have good warranty. I would probably still move forward though. I told him I want to stick with my original financing though, because I don't want to go through their. All this time by the way, he keeps pushing the application in front of me and saying "oh let's just get this filled out, we can decide the warranty later" just to get me to sign. He tells me "oh yeah capital one won't finance this, it's got the lemon title" I call capital one to confirm, turns out that dealers sometimes upload cars without being up-front about it that's why it appeared on their financing site. He also keeps shoving the application for me to fill out, but I've had enough so I told him I will go home and think about it. He got really aggressive at this point, asking why I changed my mind, telling me he can work anything out, even saying that he's the best salesman there. I frankly told him all my concerns, and instead of even thinking to address them, he starts pulling up our text conversations to argue with me. I obviously didn't go with them and while walking out, he also tried to sell me another car, sell me a lease and pushed a few cars on my friend. Used car dealers are usually scumbags, but he definitely was the worst I've experienced TL.DR. A lot of lies, deceptive practices, scumbag dealer. Stay away and especially from Mike. read more

DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY!!!! I purchased a used vehicle from them which was a "manufacturer buyback". They were extremely deceitful in why the vehicle was returned. Just past the 30 day guarantee mark, the check engine light came on. For the 1 year I owned the car, I had numerous issues with the check engine light coming on, windows that wouldn't roll down and the screen randomly going black. After finally having enough, I went to trade the vehicle in and was told by the next dealership that what I was told about the history of the car was completely false (shame on me for not asking for the car fax report - lesson learned)! I was also told that VanHorn specializes in buying "lemon buyback" vehicles at auction and most of their used cars on the lot are buybacks. Don't waste your money with them. They are liars and have no problem taking your hard earned money and selling you a vehicle they know is not reliable!!!! read more

Full disclosure -- I absolutely HATE cars and I loathe the experience of buying/leasing. I recently had a lease that was about to expire, but because of a variety of issues, I was having a hard time figuring out what to do next. Moreover, I didn't have the time to figure it out. Very two faced, and everyone who said they were "straight shooting salesmen" were bamboozled. You're doing me a frighten, fam. Had my 2013 Ford F-150 in for a oil change and tire rotation. Since my wife was off of work that day, I had her drop it off. They changed the oil but said they couldn't rotate the tires because of the lug nuts have been on and off too many times. (Due to too many tire rotations?). Said they had only so many times you could take them on and off. They said to replace the lug nuts would cost $150 just for the lug nuts. Stopped at Griffin Ford in Waukesha and asked them if they ever heard of this. They didn't AND lug nuts there were $120. AND when I got home, they didn't connect the cowling under the truck. It was dragging under the truck. Had to crawl underneath to fix that. Lost me as a customer. read more

They dragged on the sale by not communicating back in a timely matter, in fact they would some days not even communicate at all while continuously requesting information. It is a joke of a dealership with no transparency or honesty. They took so long that another truck I was comparing to at a different dealership sold. Robb Olsen was my salesman and would rarely return calls. Bill Kolkoski the finance manager would request all kinds of information and then would not reply. Steve and Michael were the managers that also were not transparent and would not follow up on their commitments. Attempted to negotiate purchase of F-150 by phone before driving 160 miles to dealership. Presented red flags right from the start just with the lack of communications and phone tag. Once I finally did reach a sales person more red flags popped up. Without going into great deal save your money and the disappointment. Buy Elsewhere Not a reputable dealership. Very deceptive sales practices. Truth in disclosure isn't their business model at any of the Van Horn dealerships. Van Horn is the largest dealership in the state of Wisconsin that purchases buybacks and Lemons. They offer you Autocheck as history report for intended vehicle, But the Carfax gives the real history of the vehicle no sugar coating or deceptive verbiage. The money you save supposedly with a buyback or branded title vehicle will cost you more in the end when trading the vehicle off. Most dealers won't even take buybacks or branded titles as trade. Worst service I have ever experienced. Stopped in to get a key made for my 2012 expedition. Yes a new key is expensive $230. What is irritating beyond belief is I needed to schedule an appointment for programming they couldn't do it immediately. Three "service technicians sitting on their ass. Try talking to the general manager and he was conveniently out. This is not the first time in dealing with a Vanhorn operation that service is nonexistent. I have been buying cars for nearly 40 years. I had a great salesperson in Rob who was helping me out. I test drove a 2018 truck that had just came off the transport truck and was in transport mode when I drove it. Rob said not to worry about the alarms that it was still in transport mode. After test driving, I knew that I wanted to purchase the truck but I wanted to come back and drive it again when not in transport mode. This is where it gets interesting. I test drove the vehicle on Wed and my salesmen said maybe I could drive it the upcoming weekend. I called and my salesmen was on vacation but over the course of the next several days and the following week, I told 3 people that I was going to purchase the truck but needed to test drive it again. Please do not sell it. They said no worries, your name is on the truck. The wait was so they could change a wire harness. After the truck was fixed, nearly two weeks later, I got a text saying, "your truck was ready'. I said can I come tonight and drive it for a day or two? Response was, "absolutely". We set up a 5:00 pm appointment. Arriving at 5:00 pm get the truck, my wife and I were waiting for 20+ minutes and I was curious why it was taking so long. I left the waiting room and my salesmen, "said we have an issue". I said, what's that? Your truck is being test driven right now by another customer. I said, how does that happen? At that moment, Steve Lopez, the Sales Manager chimed in. "Because we want to sell the truck". I showed him my texted that stated I have an appointment and could you please tell the person driving my truck that it has been sold. He stated, "there are two customers in this situation and one needs to be unhappy and that person is you". At this point, I am not very happy. I said you do not honor your appointments, I was scheduled to take this truck home for a day or two. He then stated, "do you want me to show you my email, I've had 7 appointments cancelled just today". I left and said you missed out on two sales opportunities because we were buying two cars, big mistake. I am happy to say that we have purchased two new cars and we would have never driven a Dodge Ram. They are by far a more superior truck and you save a ton of cash on them. update from 3/22/19 posting , re-built transmission , finished 3/27, 3 weeks to the day that I had it towed to Van Horn , picked up 3/29 , seemed fine , wasn't aware of any break in period , wasn't told so , but I didn't ask either , so drove calmly , real Miss Daisy like , BUT now you didn't think there wasn't going to be a BUT , and not the nice tear drop vertical smile type , Saturday , 4/6 , have both door windows tinted to match rest of truck , $125.00 , while Van Horn had the first time , had ordered weather tech floor liners , $120.00 , skip ahead to today 4/8 , get off work , fill tank in Lake 5 , $42.00 heading west , on Q stop at K /E turn right onto K , here we go , transmission takes another crap , same noise as b4 , engine will rev up to 4000 / 5000 RPM , will not leave 4th gear and wont go over 30 / 35 MPH , same exact thing that happen in last post , so , its getting towed out of my drive way tonight , getting a loaner , didn't have one last time , was told they would trade me out , nothing good can come of this , the right thing to do at this point would b to pay all money back and let me walk away , was told they cant , im suppose to take another truck from them , WTF , told them I was going to trade this as soon as I picked it up , never really wanted to , I was pissed , I like the truck I bought , WELL its a piece of shit , PERIOD , trade a pile for a pile , right now all I can do is sit and wait , meanwhile my second payment is due and out of the 6 weeks ive owned it ,its been in my possession for half that time , think what u like , there will be a follow up , STAY TUNED read more
