They are full of excuses no matter what you bring to the assistant director and or directors attention. They are more worried about their enrollment. I was fully open and honest about my daughter's diagnosis and they stressed to me not to worry and her needs to be accommodated. You have to jump through so much for just get basic accommodations for your child, even after being open and honest about your child's diagnosis. You have to deal with horrible food options for your children. Example: breakfast being hostess danishes and constant fried items for lunch. Nothing is fresh. To add on top of this, you have to worry about if teachers are even present in the classroom with your children. This occurred twice, that I am aware of. Who knows if there were more times my daughter and other children were left on attended. Once specific time I walked in with no teacher in the classroom and my daughter, along with other children were standing on top of a table. On a separate occasion, same teacher, was not present. She later came into the room after a minute of me standing there looking for a teacher. Finally, the teacher came back. I brought this up to the director and assistant and they viewed video footage and second she was gone from the classroom for a few seconds. Meanwhile, I was in the classroom looking for the teacher for at least a minute. They called me that evening after the incident and said they are letting the teacher go as this is the second time this has happened, the next day the same teacher is there. Not that I wanted anyone to lose their job, but how are you going to continue to let that happen? They also can't get their stories straight. An incident occurred and my daughter had a horrible scratch on her face. I got three different stories. I refused to sign the incident form until I got the truth. After viewing the tape, they couldn't really tell due to the spot she was standing was out of view of camera. I then brought up the fact they need another camera to fill the void, it still hasn't been done. I even emailed the owner to no avail there is still no camera. My daughter would come home with many bites marks from children biting her. At least 5 incidents. I brought this up to everyone's attention and how unacceptable this is and how they need to take action, nothing was done. I've had enough excuses from the whole staff. Don't waste your time and go somewhere else! My daughter was at the facility for less than a year and all of this occurred on there watch. To make it worse, on her last day, I picked her up with a huge scratch on her face. No incident report was written so I don't know how she got it.

My son has autism and my daughter has ADHD and they are never made to feel bad about meltdowns or behavior concerns, unlike other daycares we have been too. My first daughter started going to Sherwood at the age of 3 and I have been blown away by her growth. The environment they have created at Sherwood inspires curiosity, engagement, and learning. The curriculum allows every child to progress at a speed that is just right for them in every discipline, building on their strengths and supporting their weaknesses. If that's not enough, the day-to-day skills they practice in class carry over to the home, she is organized, independent, helpful, and attentive (for a 4 year old). She just finished her first year and there is no doubt in my mind that she is staying. She also has a little sister now that will be joining in 1-2 years.

The American Montessori Society's listed values (https://amshq.org/About-AMS/Who-We-Are/Mission) are Respect, Integrity, Diversity, Inclusiveness, Responsibility, Enthusiasm. Not surprisingly SFMS teaches and demonstrates these values -- learning about different cultures, religions, and aspects of inclusiveness and diversity including mentioning that transgender people exist. (Please see an earlier review for why I mention this.) Over the years my wife and I have observed many classroom sessions on topics both factual and cultural/societal. The lessons we've observed have always been non-judgmental and age appropriate. About as preachy or as harsh as they get is, "It's bad to be mean to people." When our son had trouble transitioning into a new classroom setting out of Early Childhood the teachers for his class (including the same one mentioned in the other review) met with us. We discussed the school's concerns and worked up a plan that involved changes with both the school and our family. It included a suggestion of a psycho-educational evaluation which we accepted and I am so glad we did. Based on the evaluation and advice from the psychologist we were able to make classroom changes and find a tutor to help address the issues motivating his acting out. Over the years I'm aware of two other cases in which the families were asked to leave because the child's behavior was a direct threat to other students. I would characterize how the school addresses concerns about behavior as accommodating but with the best interest of the specific child and other students' welfare as the primary driver. This school brings out the best in their students both educationally and as "good people". The teachers' love of teaching and of the students in their care is obvious. The administrators are all former teachers and work hard with the staff and families to make SFMS such a great place. I would recommend this school very highly to anyone that is looking for such things.

Long story short, after two months at this daycare and multiple "second chances" we switched our daughter to a new daycare where she has been for two months and we couldn't be happier that we left Kids R Kids. We moved from out of state in July and our daughter started in the toddler classroom in August. Everything was mostly okay (The first day I did watch the teacher literally ignore and step over my crying toddler for 20 minutes before picking her up or showing her any sort of attention), she cried every day I dropped her off but, we thought it was from adjusting to the move and new school. Day 3, I went to pick her up and the room she had been in had lights off and no kids. I went to the other toddler room, same story. I went to the front desk to ask them where my daughter was and the front desk woman walked back to the toddler room where I'd just checked and was surprised there we no kids. At this point I am starting to panic, thinking to myself these people don't know where my child is. At which point I ask them "where is my baby?!" They have no idea where she is. I hear my daughter crying and find her in the infant room hysterically crying. I went to get her as we're both distressed at this point and they won't let me in the room to get her. Fine, I get the rules. I tell them "fine, one of you needs to get my baby now." I get my baby and we head home. My husband calls them to tell them this is unacceptable and they LIE to him about what happened stating they knew where she was the whole time; false. The next morning I talked to the assistant director (I think? I'm not sure, no one ever introduced themselves to me) and she assured me this was an isolated incident and they were having a staff meeting asap to discuss. Against my better judgement I kept my daughter there. Every week something new would happen. An injury here, never applying diaper cream (which I provided) after diaper changes leading to terrible diaper rash, watching them be excessively rough with my daughter on the video stream and not to mention she never stopped crying at drop off in the morning, she cried everyday for 6 weeks straight. We eventually starting looking for other daycares and were able to get her into a new one very quickly. Right as Notify kids r kids we'll be moving our daughter, they call to tell me she fell backwards in her chair and hit her head and it was bleeding. After talking with the director we both decided it was best if that was my daughters last week and she waved the 2 week notice requirement. The director was aware of many of my concerns and stated she was actively trying to fix things. I really hope she is successful. The pros of this daycare were price and proximity to our house, which is why we stayed as long as we did. Looking back, I should have pulled my daughter out after they "lost" her on the 3rd day. Please do your research before I entrusting these people with your children/babies. There are tons of daycares in our area and ones where the teachers are loving and actually care for you and your children. Sadly, my experience at Kids R Kids was the opposite of loving and caring.
