The first time I went I mentioned that I was wanting change my hair color to grey, closer to what my roots growing in are. My hair was already colored brown with highlights. The stylist suggested a black and white layered hair color - she showed me a pinterest photo. It looked great and I was really excited. The stylist was the owner. She bleached highlights into my hair to help with the blending and lightened the overall base color. I ended up with an ash blonde color. NOT a great color for my skin tone. It was awful. But she told me that the bleaching to get to the white would take another visit. Total = $389.00. Four weeks later I went in and mentioned to the owner that although the color was fine for some people, it didn't look good on me. She said that it washed me out! I reminded her that the goal was a black and white layered color but she told me that I would still end up ash blonde. What happened to the white? She said that it couldn't be done. Then why in the world would I consider going down this road? I did let her know that I really did like the different dimensions of color, but thought I should go back to darker brown with highlights. She ended up giving me GIANT stripes with the same ash blonde color. During the trim, I asked if she could trim the back so that the ends didn't flip out. She never asked me how much to trim and ended up cutting off a good 2-3 inches. The back - she cropped the bottom part of my hair, close to my scalp, so short it sticks straight out. The hair towards the top of my head is longer so it covered the scalp job and I didn't see it until the next morning. Total = $265.00. Unfortunately this place is nothing more than a group of mean girls. I was shocked to hear them gossiping loudly about other clients. The owner had to continually brag that she had a personal assistant and insisted that she had a "high end" salon. I've been to high end salons.... this isn't one. High price does not equal high end. read more

Let me tell you how fantastic of a deal it was coming here and the service. Not only do you get a great cut, consultation, hair wash, blow dry, and style; they also offer you a large cup of coffee how ever you want it!!! This was the first time I have come to a shop and been told one price and was not up-charged for having hair which was too thick or long. First off I called for an appt. I wanted a botox treatment. the stylist explained to me about the keratin treatment,. Sounded great but the price was a little to much for me so I explained how I really liked the botox treatment that I had had once before. She explained because they are an Aveda shop, they no longer have that treatment since it wasn't Aveda. she said they have one that is comparable to Botox the only difference was it is an Aveda Product. Great as long as it does the same , why not? the day of my appt. I came in and she began to color my hair said she was doing the first step to my treatment and sprayed something in my hair.. as she was coloring it, she stated that she wasn't going to have time to blow it out but if I wanted, she could ask one of the staff if they were able to do It if I wanted it done. "Yes I would if it's possible." After asking I guess nobody was able to blow it dry. Back to the "Treatment." She rinsed out my hair and Said she would do the second part to the treatment. I'm thinking to myself, " this is nothing like Botox treatment" it was conditioner. Anyway $225 later I left with my hair looking like a hot mess and I will never recommend anybody, or go back there again. For that money I would have at least appreciated it to be blowdried! read more

So I was going to go without writing a review but as more time goes by I'm more and more unsatisfied with my visit. I went in last week and I was going to get some purple balayage done and I thought it was clear I didn't want it going into my roots but I guess not. It really doesn't seem like I got any sort of highlights or balayage done because it seems like I changed my hair color completely instead- from my hairline, to my roots, to the ends of my hair. Apart from that, I understand that purple is hard to maintain already but from the start it looked rather red to me. With one wash, my roots were red and that's something I did not want. Also, I feel like my experience was rather impersonal. Paying $275 would've been worth it if I had gotten what I asked for. read more

From her reviews and her bio on the website it seemed like a good fit for my type of hair and what I was looking to get done ( thick hair, short cut). Rachel was patent with me and listened to what I was looking for. After we talked through what I liked/didn't like in a hair cut we got down to it. I felt relaxed with the scalp massage and felt got very good service the whole time. I was not rushed and felt like I was focused on. Absolutely remarkable experience-- review would have been 4 stars had they not rolled out the red carpet of unprofessionalism. Do you enjoy your appointment to be cancelled after arriving at the salon? Do you enjoy intimidating owner to b_u_l_l_y you when you ask for answers? Do you enjoy being racially profiled? If yes, this is the perfect place for you. This place believes that the best way to serve a client is by degrading them. All I did was give constructive feedback on the prior visit that I had to get fixed by a different stylist given I had to travel shortly. However, their extremely (un)professional owner had other things on their mind. Instead of showing accountability and improving, they decide to deny service on arbitrary grounds that are unjustifiable. Not all customers can be bought with a refund. Not all sins can be undone either. You can't expect a customer to be okay with an appointment cancelled once they arrive. Do yourself a favor. Click on the reviews that are hidden. Trust those ones that say about appointment cancellations. I made this mistake. You shouldn't. I don't remember the last time I had the pleasure of being treated so awfully. read more

I've been a client here for 10 years. Once you find a place and a hairstylist that you love. You will never leave. Exactly what happened here. Ashlee is my favorite hands down by far. I've been through all different hair colors and hair styles with her. I had long dark chocolate brunette in 2015, cut my hair to about my chin and went lighter. Now my hair is back to bright blonde with bold lowlights and working on getting my length back to chest level. A S H L E E has such knowledge about color changes. Never have I had odd or weird styles or colors (aka I never had orange hair). I have total trust in her judgement. I never come in with ideas. I just let her do what she does best. I'm very particular with my hair but she does such a great job that I never worry if I'll like it or not. Side note: make your appointment with her WAY in advance. She's THAT good that you need to plan your appointment way out in advance. She's worth it though!!! read more

I went in for my 2nd visit (1st time for color) and discussed with my stylist what I was looking to do. She proceeded to ask me how much I wanted to spend, mentioned some things she wanted to do with some ballpark prices, and I ultimately said no more than $200. During the appointment I agreed to one additional $10 treatment but when I got the to register they charged me $290! When they asked my stylist about it she said "we must have done the math wrong" basically implying it was my responsibility not hers. I don't know how anyone can feels this is an ok way to do business. I should also mention that not a single one of the 3-4 employees witnessing the situation (including my stylist) apologized. I tried Vanasons Salon after finding their phenomenal ratings on Yelp and I selected Ashlee as my stylists once I reviewed her work on social media. This salon far exceeded my expectations. The staff is friendly and takes the time to walk new clients around the salon to show you where everything is. After putting on a robe and making myself some coffee (loved the Kuerig), a stylist came to get me while Ashlee finished her previous client. My appointment started with a neck and shoulder massage that was amazing. Once Ashlee was finished with her previous client, I moved to her chair and had such a great experience. We looked at the picture of what I wanted, talked through how I could make it my own, she showed me color examples and then we got started. The results were absolutely amazing and I will make Vanasons (and specifically Ashlee's wonderful services) part of my routine. read more

Lindsey has been taking care of me at Vanason's since the spring of 2005....over 6 years. I love that the experience there is always about what YOU want, not what your stylist wants for you or thinks you should want. We have experimented with many different looks, styles and even a different color (I went red for about a year 2007-2008 while I am normally a blond) It is a great place and I have yet to not LOVE my hair when I leave there. I have mixed reviews on this place. I got an amazing hair cut here - AMAZING i tell you, and I wanted some color... the Color was the problem. I walked out looking like a Brass Door Knob with a cute hair cut. When i got home and really saw the color i was shocked. I called to get it fixed but because of my schedule i couldn't just come back the next day. they basically made me pay for them to fix their mistake :( Had they taken care of the fix for me, I would have gone back - they have AVAEDA products and I love that, I pretty much go else where for my cut and color now. read more

When I moved to GA from MD about a year ago, I relied heavily on Yelp reviews to guide me to a quality hair salon. Lets just say I have a few (ok, a lot) of grey hairs that need handled! I've been going to Vanassons for about a year now and figured it's time to share my thoughts with the rest of the Yelp squad. I'm on my second hair dresser, as the first one, who I saw twice, decided to change careers. Now I see Carley regularly. She consistently does a great job with my cuts and color, I walk out of the salon feeling like a new (and younger) woman! She's always on time and has a positive attitude. We tend to chat a little bit, but if you prefer less chat, I'm sure she'd be ok with that too. Since this is the only salon I've gone to since moving to GA, I don't have a lot to compare to in terms of pricing, but comparing to my previous salon in MD, it's slightly cheaper for a similar quality. I like that Carley isn't pushy about new products like shampoos or conditioners. She tells me about products to help fly-aways or maintain color, but I never feel like I have to buy on the spot. Oh, and I almost forgot about the initial relaxation massage and then hand massage later after the hair wash. They're short, but a nice touch to have some pampering while getting your hair done. I've been going here for a little over 2 years. I get my haircut by Lindsay and have always been extremely satisfied. The shampoo and head massage feel great after a long day at work...really it just feels good having someone else massage my head. I'm usually able to get an eyebrow wax, wash, cut and style within about 45 minutes. When she styles my hair she doesn't go overboard on the product or do something unwearable. I never have to go home and wash it out :) Usually I feel so good after leaving that I want to go out! Another thing I like is that she doesn't push product but will make recommendations if I ask. Overall, I like this salon because it's easy to get in for a cut, I've had the same stylist and been happy with her work, and it's close to home/work. The only drawback is that parking can be a pain as its in the busy Publix shopping center right off Delk and Powers Ferry. read more

I like that she reproduces the same cut faithfully month after month and my 13 yo son likes that she can give him a new style month after month. I needed to try a new place because my favorite hairstylist moved away. So I called up vanasons and was paired up with Courtney Sanborn. I instantly felt comfortable and she talked be through the process of what she wanted to do and made sure I was comfortable with it. Ashlee at Vanasons is INCREDIBLE. A recent transplant from Los Angeles, I've been on the hunt for an amazing hair stylist/colorist and truly believe I hit the jackpot with Ashlee. I actually found her on Instagram and was pleasantly surprised to learn that the salon was right around the corner from my house. My first appointment with Ashlee, for a cut and single process color, exceeded all expectations I had. From the first moment I walked through the doors, I was warmly welcomed and pampered with cold beverages, an array of magazines, great ambience and friendly faces. Upon meeting Ashlee, I felt instantly at ease and like I was hanging out with an old friend. She listened carefully to what I wanted, explained her approach, and then DELIVERED. She provided the exact cut and color I was dreaming of and I left the salon absolutely in love with my new hair. I won't ever go elsewhere; Ashlee has earned a customer for life. Lyndsey asks questions about what you want and if you don't know what you want, she goes through pictures with you and brainstorms until you find something you want to try. Vanason's is the best! Lyndsey handles my entire family's hair needs - my husband, my two daughters and myself. We are all very different and have very different hair needs. She and her staff are just wonderful. I, personally, love the shampoo and massages that I get every time I am at the salon by Jackie. She almost puts me to sleep every time. It is wonderful. I always feel so relaxed even after a hard day. I visited Vanason's the first time simply because it is an Aveda salon. I was a client of another very well known Aveda salon in Atlanta for years and just got tired of the way they did business - one person cutting your hair - another coloring it - AND trying to coordinate both for appointments was a major pain. Vanason's is a comfortable, friendly and professional atmosphere. What a find! My oldest daughter was married in December and Lyndsey coordinated the entire salon to handle the hair and make-up needs of the wedding party. It was done beautifully and with no undue stress for the bride or her mother. I will be forever grateful. I cannot say enough good things about the salon. You must try. read more

After a year, I am finally calm enough to write this review. I went there last fall to have my existing fusion extensions removed, and other ones put in. I was quoted a price, which seemed rather high, but it seemed as if this was a top-level establishment. Therefore, agreed and made an appointment. How many things went wrong?? 1. Stylist removed extensions before checking to make sure that replacement extensions were correct. They weren't - - wrong color and length - 15" instead of 21". 2. When I brought this to her attention, just by looking at the unopened package, after she had already started the removal process, she just brushed me off, saying that they were correct. 3. After she removed my extensions, she realized, that yes, she did indeed make a mistake and they were the wrong length. In addition, the color was WAY too light. 4. She attempted to color my hair, and told me she was going to reorder the extensions and to make another appointment. 5. TWO more trips back - and she STILL couldn't get the right length ordered. 6. As an emergency, had to buy two sets of clip in extensions for an event that evening, and ended up paying over $400 for orange hair. Never going back again. read more
