I did the tele visit in January and the operator insisted I pay more than my usual co pay, which I agreed to because I was sick and needed to see someone. Next issue from the week prior was my wife's visit. She paid in person yet is still receiving notices that she has an open balance. Typically if you have an open balance for more than two months you get sent to collections. This is my biggest concern. We went in person to show our receipts to the receptionist, Jolene, who seemed very helpful. She told us someone would be giving us a call in the next day or two. The people were very friendly when my wife went to urgent care, but having these billing issues still unresolved two months later is unacceptable. I can still recommend going to get decent care here but if this isn't resolved and we are incorrectly sent to collections, this will easily slip into nightmare territory. Lastly I want to note that my previous unflattering review was removed.

She was not appreciative of the attention, and proceeded to chomp my finger most ungratefully. (I still love her. It's never the critter's fault.) The next day, I went to urgent care and was given antibiotics. A few days later, after noticing my finger could not bend, I returned to urgent care where they performed a series of x-rays to see if perhaps my finger was broken. Thinking she saw a fracture, the urgent care doctor sent me to the ER where they performed even more x-rays. No fracture, but they advised me to consult a doctor in Vancouver Clinic Sports Medicine office, which I dutifully did. The Sports doctor was concerned, and advised me to consult a surgeon, then his assistant made an appointment for me at the Vancouver Clinic Surgery Center. Up until this point, I was reasonably satisfied with the care I had been receiving, and truly felt that the professionals involved were doing their best to help me. All of that meant nothing after a five minute consultation at the Surgery Center. The first thing the doctor said to me when she entered the room was, "I don't know why you're here. " I was there because I was instructed by her colleague to consult a surgeon. I was following the recommendation I was given. She made me feel silly for being there, stupid for not having the medical Insight to know instinctively what my ailment was, and foolish for having spent the money for the luxury of waiting 45 minutes for her to be rude to me. No apology for the long wait. She didn't even want to sit down and look at my finger. I would love for someone to listen to her recorded notes of the visit. If only her eye rolling was audible. She numbered the 5th doctor I consulted regarding my injury. I followed every order, went to every appointment. For her to be so dismissive and impatient is exactly the reason why it is difficult for me to not only trust medical professionals, but to even consult them at all. I'm not confident that I'll be quick to seek medical care In the future due to the fear of being demeaned again. She was under the impression that my bite was from a normal cat. It was not. The cat in question is a behemoth and the bite was very hard and prolonged. The issue with my finger not bending was instant the second I pried her off of me. I asked her about that and she said, "It's scar tissue." How can the issue be scar tissue like she said if it was instant? A question that will remain unanswered, it seems. The only advice she could give me was to go to physical therapy. In fact, she said I should have been in physical therapy from the beginning, yet the 4 doctors before her didn't present me with that option. The meat of the matter is that sometimes it's not what you say to a patient, it's how you say it. There are a hundred different ways she could have presented her diagnosis to me without making me feel like a schmuck. You see, thanks to her, I now realize that I spent $300 in unnecessary appointment co-pays that I'm not very happy about. This final visit regarding my saga of the bite of the fat cat was the very definition of adding insult to injury. No, I would most definitely not recommend the services of the Vancouver Clinic Surgery Center at Salmon Creek. As for my finger, I'll handle physical therapy on my own with the help of Google and YouTube, because the trust is gone.

I've been happier with the results from RFM to this point in time. I have seen my primary care provider at both the Woodland and Ridgefield locations. So far, my care has included bloodwork and blood pressure checks, follow-up care from a hospital ER visit, and urgent care for a repeat shoulder injury due to a trip-and-fall accident. When first getting set up with RFM, it took 3 business days to get a return phone call due to staffing issues. I learned that the clinic is not accepting new Medicare and Medicaid patients (so I will have to change clinics in less than a decade), and that some of their physicians are not taking new patients. I wanted a male provider and currently am assigned to a certified Physician Assistant instead of an MD. (I don't have an issue with this; two recent trips to an ER gave me data points that even hospital emergency rooms have a PA handling most of the patients instead of an MD.) I've found that test results, referrals, and visit notes are available quickly in the Patient Portal. Phone calls with test results seem to take longer to get, and I've opted to use the Patient Portal for now. Billing - as some have pointed out - can be an issue. I retired recently and changed insurance, and due to a problem at the new insurance company, I was not "covered" at my last visit (though within 72 hours, this was addressed by the insurance company). Getting the billing people to bill insurance took 3 attempts over a 3 week period. There is always room for improvement, hence the 4 star rating. I do think the providers are trying to improve.

I literally was doing just that. Asking questions about my medical diagnosis and his response was "go find that out." Seriously? I could not believe how rude he was. Oh. I kept getting billed for additional amounts after the hundreds of dollars that I already gave them for the "free" Covid testing. Even though my son and I were treated by the same provider during the same visit, the PA who saw me coded MY visit as treating me for nausea. Yes, nausea was one of my symptoms and I did take him up on his offer for a prescription to help alleviate it. I explained this to the billing department who said they would investigate. I received a letter this week that "after a thorough review" they have determined that "it was billed correctly and no adjustment will be made". I'm not sure how much they get reimbursed by the government for Covid testing, but I am willing to bet that it is far less than what they are trying to get from me. What a bunch of amoral thieves taking advantage of people like that. No sane person would come to that determination after seeing that not only did I get tested for Covid, but so did my son during that visit. I made it perfectly clear when I checked in and first spoke with the PA that I was there for Covid testing. Therefore, the only logical explanation to why they are coding is as treating me for nausea instead of Covid testing is the bottom line. It's practices like this that make people not go in, thus potentially spreading Covid. Shame on you
