I just met Dr. Clayton and her staff yesterday. Everyone seemed very knowledgeable, polite and efficient. I moved to Vancouver, WA from Las Vegas, NV on May 1st, so Dr. Clayton and all of her staff were put to a strict comparison test against my prior eye doctor and his staff that I had been seeing for over 20-years. Well, Dr. Clayton and her staff definitely passed my comparison test! I will be having my cataracts removed in September by Dr. Clayton and I feel optimistic that the surgeries will be successful. Quality of care at this location is okay. I was there yesterday and I waited for my turn while watching other patients go in. When I spoke up as to why I wasn't being called there was 'confusion' which agitated me. I arrived on time but was in there for two hours. My exam is what took the longest. Something is wrong with this location's process. Care quality needs improvement -- learn from other locations. Checking in was quick but waiting with no explanation is not acceptable. i had to miss an appt. I called 48 hrs prior to missing appt. which is their proto call. I had an urgent surgery that required me to miss my appt. i rescheduled and made that appt. I sold my vehicle and Im 17 mi away from the clinic and just far enough out that we dont have public transportation where I live. its taking me a while to find alternative transportation thru my health insurance and have to learn that system and set up accounts to be able to use the services. once i got that figured out i call to make and appt and they discontinued my care over 1 missed appt. they called several. i called in advance of any other i missed appt. my reasons were valid. read more

Went to have a suspected eye infection checked out and didn't get called back until 30 minutes past my appointment. The technician didn't even say hello and practically ran me back to the room. Saw the doctor for maybe 3 minutes and she was lacking bedside manner. She gave me a general idea how to treat my eye, lectured me about coming in more often and then left. I am sure some of the attitudes came from running late but based on this interaction and one prior, I would not recommend this facility. read more

I should of listened to my instinct to cancel and leave as soon as my interaction with the front desk rep started because it quickly got worse . The assistant whisks me back and everything was rushed from that point on . No introduction, no welcoming , no verification of patient identifiers; no hand sanitizing before she touched my face to put drops in , no explanation of what was going on . She kept talking like I already had glasses and getting my history wrong . At one point asked her if I could put drops in to relieve pain when just starting and to rest them for a couple minutes and no no it was rush rush . I don't feel like I got an accurate vision test at all because I didn't have time to rest my eyes for even a minute and the results were way off from my previous exams . No introduction from the clinician either and I was a new patient. The provider didn't explain anything as she was rattling off diagnoses to her scribe and said the assistant didn't put in any of my history which then made me question if all my info was put in correctly . When I tried to discuss my concerns the provider kept cutting me off . The provider was also unprofessional speaking badly about another clinic . In my seventies, I have seen many opthamologists. When all I got was busy telephone signals from my Oregon physician, I decided to give Dr. Kim a shot. What a pleasant surprise. First, I got in within three days versus 3 months from my old outfit. Second, everyone from the front desk to the techs were pleasant, patient and considerate, even though it was the end of the day. Third, Dr. Kim was pleasant, thorough and reassuring. The equipment seemed a bit outdated, but his expertise and precision far exceeded my previous four eye doctors. I can't image a more challenging job than dealing with such an important life issue such as vision with all the personality types out there. read more

This review has nothing to do with the doctors or anyone other than AMANDA. My initial phone call which was NOT with Amanda was very nice and helpful, and I was able to make an appointment for my daughter within a couple of days. My 17-year-old daughter went to the appointment alone since I could not attend with her, no problem. She arrived and was assisted by Amanda who was very rude to her. Basically, Amanda seemed bothered by anyone being in the waiting room at all. We had some trial contact lenses ordered for my daughter. I called after about a week and half to check on the status. Amanda answered and was so rude and, again, seemed very bothered that I called to check. She was rude and said that it takes two weeks then said, "Oh I guess they are in." I just called about a 90-day supply of contacts ordered for my daughter, it's one day short of 2 weeks. Amanda answers, she checks, curtly informs me that they are not in and says, "It takes TWO weeks." like I'm calling the day after they were ordered. I don't think we will be back to Vancouver Eye Care Main Street because of her. The doctor and other staff there are great, but when the main person of contact is awful; it's not worth it. read more

I am really surprised by all of these positive reviews from this clinic. I wish I had read some of the negative reviews before scheduling an appointment at this place. I needed to see someone right away, so I did not have much choice in the matter. My appointment was with Dr. Clayton. I showed up to my appointment 15 minutes early. It was the only ophthalmologist place that had an appointment that wasn't 2 months out. Now I know why. I had a horrible experience at this place. I have never been treated so disrespectfully and felt less engaged with a doctor. I am still at a loss for words about how poorly I was treated. I can't imagine I have been the only person who has been treated bad at this clinic. The doctor was over 1 hour and 15 minutes late. The second Dr. Clayton walked in she displayed horrible bedside manners and was not focused on me, her patient, but instead on what she was going to do next. She barked at me the moment she entered. With a grumpy tone, she asked if I had ever been seen at this clinic before, at which point I answered no. She then proceeded to snap and tell her assistant that was there to take notes, why they scheduled that "type of appointment" for me. She told her to get to the bottom of it. She never, ever made eye contact throughout the short visit. This woman is not in there to help people, she is in there to see as many patients as she can. The entire visit lasted 3-5 minutes. She was in a rush to get out of the room after a couple of minutes. It was obvious that the clinic quadruple books appointments and does not value or respect patient's time. Not once did she ask me what I was in there for. I had to slow her down because after a couple minutes, she opened the door and was ready to leave. She was very condescending and talked down to me on numerous occasions. She didn't speak to me, she barked at me. This doctor was extremely unpleasant and that is putting it nicely. At one point I mentioned that I had been waiting for over 1 hr and 15 minutes, her response was, "Mondays are very busy for us". There was absolutely no apology or anything like that. Well guess what, they are for me as well. If I showed up late to my appointment, I wouldn't be able to see anyone and I would have to pay a cancellation fee. Do yourself a favor and do not ever schedule appointment at this clinic. I paid a lot of money for my visit and none of my concerns were addressed. I am going to have to spend more money to get the proper care at another place. I am very, very upset. read more

Went here for about 9 years. The last couple many changes. I loved Dr Kim however he go so busy he couldn't talk with you, an assistant did most of the exam. My last glasses were wrong, I told he, they looked and said the prescription was fine. It wasn't. I also hated that I had to go to Main street to get a field test. That building stinks terribly. They need to tear it down! The machine is old, noisy and stressed me out. I have a new eye Dr who has great, modern equipment spends time talking to me. Great experience. Even takes picks of my eye balls and discovered things that VEC didn't. It was sad to see this place go down hill. read more

I went to Dr. Clayton for Cataract surgery and she was great. She explained everything that was happening and was very concerned for the anxiety I was experiencing. She called me a few hours after the surgery to check on how I was doing. That meant so much to me. She is an excellent eye doctor that I plan on staying with! I went to get glasses was told I had cataracts, saw Dr Kim. The past 2 months I have been trying to work with him. I had one eye done. I have great vision in that eye for 2 weeks. Then it just went away. It was as if nothing was done to it. I went to see him. All he said was Huh? Put these drops in come back in 2 weeks. It was time for other eye to be done. I went in to talk to him about it. I was afraid the same thing would happen. I never have gotten an answer. Against my better judgment I went in the day before surgery. One of the girls working there was putting stuff in my eye. She had a hand held device she was waving back and forth near my eye. I thought she hit my eye but was numb. He came in looked at my eye. Said see you in morning. Went home to realize my eye had been scratched. Was in so much pain, numbness wore off. Went back down. He knew exactly what she had done. Didn't bother to tell me he saw a scratch. Said it would be ok for surgery, put a contact on it. Next day he was just starting my surgery. He said wait I didn't see this? I think I need to abort. I see shingles herpes virus in your eye. Then he aborted the surgery. Sent me home with Shingles meds. But during EVERY SINGLE VISIT this doc had. Never explains anything never talked about the virus he diagnosed me with. I went home so freaked out. I know what shingles can do to your eye sight. It could cause me to go blind! He did not see this the day before. My mind went wild. You can imagine what went through my head. I went to urgency care, they saw nothing. I went to my doc she saw nothing. She sent me to a different eye doc. This DICTOR told me more in 5 mins then doc Kim did in 2 months!! The office people aren't much better at knowing what's going on. The Anxiety that I have been put through for 6 days is unreal! Not to mention the other eye issues. People want as much info as you can tell them from the doctors. I was stupid and went against my gut. Don't you do the same thing. Because he will not communicate with you even when you ask him questions. He ran in and out of the room so fast you can't catch him. He should have known or remembered the scratch. That was why he cried shingles. I was almost ready to speak to a attorney. I hope they don't over charge my insurances it was all dealt with so poorly. I've gotten one call to see how I am. They don't know if I have it or not. I haven't gone back. Nice to know they care. Huh? I will never go back there! It seems like a strange dream!
