The work that they did resulted in them dumping debris in yard from adjoining properties. I was not home to stop them, so I came home to a huge pile of debris in the back yard. When they were asked to make it right they were rude and unwilling to take responsibility for what they did. I imagine this type of work and attitude would be a liability to a homeowner having work done. ABNORMAL BUSINESS BEHAVIOR!!!! Beware. Read the real reviews very carefully. After waiting three weeks plus for this company to keep their appointment, a few days days prior to the appointment date I received a call confirming the date followed by another call asking if it was okay to move the appointment farther into the week. I'd waited this long, so agreed. After having the appointment for nearly a month, the day before the appointment they called the third time asking if the time could be changed from 11am to 9 am. Because I work long hours and sleep late, 9am never works. Besides that, I HAD AN 11AM FOR ALMOST A MONTH!!!! Then I was told they would NEVER be able to keep an 11am appointment that 9am was my only option. (All the while I could hear an angry man mumbling in the background) What BS. I WAS FURIOUS. I asked to speak to the office manager's boss and was told he'd return my call. Guess what? As expected, he didn't. Instead, I got an email from the office manager -who doesn't know the difference between to and too- saying this: "I Apologize for interrupting your morning with my call. I am emailing you to let you know unfortunately we are to busy to complete this work for you. We hope in the future you would like to do work with us and we apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused." Fat chance of me ever calling you, you maladapted hacks. I just threw away a month waiting for you to cancel at the last possible minute. This is the behavior of someone seriously impaired. Best to avoid giving Vancuren the chance to screw with you like they screwed with me. read more

STAY AWAY FROM VANCUREN TREE SERVICE, I had them come out a while back to give an estimate for removal of a few trees near Willoughby. The estimator acted very oddly and started speaking loudly and very badly about our neighbor who is an elderly woman. He said he lives near me and he also made some very poor taste and disgusting remarks about females that were very inappropriate. When we received the estimate it was nearly double what another local company offered for the exact same work. VanCurens prices are double what the other big companies charge for the same work. I now read the other reviews and realize it was a waste of time to call them in the first place. They need to train their employee who does estimates to not cuss and make disgusting remarks about women or the elderly in front of potential customers. read more

Customer service is horrible. They say they'll put you on the schedule and then after not hearing from them in several weeks, I called to follow-up with any scheduling updates and am told I'm was never put on the schedule. We used them when they used to be Morningstar, but when Van Curen bought Morningstar a few years ago, the service became terrible. After obtaining a quote to remove dead tree limbs, Vancuren incompletely rendered services and left several large dead tree limbs atop the tree. Crew members stated they didn't have a crane big enough and I could call to have them come back. When asked to complete the job, Matthew Vancuren attempted to explain that he only quoted removal of specific dead tree limbs. He was rude, disparaging, and threatened to put a lien on my house if I only provided partial payment for a partially completed job. This company may have the equipment and manpower, but they lack customer service and common sense. Would never recommend their services, not even to my worst enemy. read more

Do not use this company's service. The other reviewers are absolutely correct. The customer service is horrible and the work is incredibly messy. They recently got a contract with the City of Cleveland to remove the stump from my tree lawn. The worker dug the hole and left the root wood, dirt and debris all over my tree lawn. When I asked if he could make this neater, his reply was, "Oh, another guy is going to come behind me in a couple of weeks to clear it up and put grass seed on it." After I call the company and speak with a manager all they say they can do is try to have the other guy come out in a couple of days. So now I'm stuck with this mess on my yard to clean up. This is one of the worst tree services around, I highly recommend that you find a different tree service! Most of the workers do NOT speak English. Which makes it very hard for any communication, what so ever. Also, the owner is completely rude, he only cares about taking your money. This company does not even deserve one star! read more

Vancuren cut a tree down on adjoining property of mine but in order to access the tree they had to drive over my lawn with a bucket truck and a HUGE crane. In the process they made some ruts. I contacted them and first they denied it was them, then they said admitted it was them after they came out and looked at it. They said they will come and fix it when we get some nice weather as this was spring time. Once summer arrived I contacted them again and that is when they started having a bad attitude. I finally offered them if they come out and dump 20 yds. topsoil I will rent a skidsteer and do it myself. I would had paid for the rental and grass seed myself as I wanted to get this done ASAP so the grass can start growing. I had a project going in my backyard, regrading, pulling out stumps, reseeding, etc. that was nowhere close to the ruts Vancuren made. This is when they starting accusing me of taking advantage of them and accused me of wanting the dirt for that project, which was not true as the contractors that were doing it personally told me they do not need any dirt. Finally after listening to all of there lies and false accusations I decided to drop it and take the lost myself. I can not understand how a big company like that can be so ignorant to address a problem for a homeowner. I would never recommend this company to anyone!!! read more
