We were a bit disappointed in our visit to Vandale. Not really a speakeasy. We had a beer, not even sure what is was called. The bartender was less than helpful. We moved on pretty quickly.

Fun meal in a comfortable space. You enter through a walk in refrigerator door. The cocktails are creative and very good. The small plates are varied a flavorful. We enjoyed the Pork Tacos and Fried Eggplant. The downstairs room opens at 8 PM Thursday - Sunday.

Donc évidemment on a testé ça. J'y retournerai.

Oh man I feel like I've been giving out a lot of 5 stars but this place was deserving of so. My boyfriend and I stumbled upon Vandale mostly because it was super close to our hotel and we were lazy - but I was so pleasantly surprised! They were like, almost too cool for me. There's graffiti on the walls, soft hip pop music and actually very great food. I really loved the pasta and my boyfriend could not say enough about the drinks. Overall we had such a good experience (especially in contrast to our second speakeasy experience the same night which was so dark and crammed) Try out Vandale if you get the chance!!

TLDR: I will most likely not return but the vibe and atmosphere is nice, and I may return for a pre-dinner cocktail. They combined the old ice cream parlour & the former speakeasy bar into one restaurant called Vandale. Menu is reminiscent of that of Speakeasy, however quite over priced for what it's worth. Before they switched to Vandale, I immensely enjoyed coming to Speakeasy (I have been several times) and I remember they had an amazing server / manager named David. It is too bad he no longer works here. David was the highlight of each of my previous visits before they became Vandale. I remember the former speakeasy for the nice vibe, amazing service, and friendly prices. (They used to have a $1 per oyster deal where you also got a complimentary glass of bubbles) However, I am disappointed to report that the service was mediocre at best (we almost felt forgotten), and the prices are certainly not friendly anymore. I understand many restaurants raised their prices post-pandemic but I didn't think their price increase was worth the value or the portion of the food at all. We shared a bottle of orange wine and 4 dishes amongst the 3 of us. We had the seared scallops with beets, braised short rib with cheesy polenta, winter salad and the deer tartare. Everything was good though nothing to write home about. We paid about $280 total and left feeling a little hungry. Overall: 3 Value: 1.5 Food: 4 Atmosphere: 4 Service: 3

I'm reviewing the all-you-can-eat brunch buffet for this newly opened little Italy location which…read moreis offered every weekend from 11 to 4pm. I have dined in the evening at their St Denis branch and had a great experience and I'm happy to report the brunch was equally amazing. If you've ever dreamed of all you can eat AND drink (yes, all you can drink beer and mimosas), then Saint-Houblon is the place for you. Although this restaurant is more of a bar,the food quality and choices are truly refined. They source their own locally greenhouse grown veggies when possible and offer a range of elevated dishes with vibrant colors and combinations. With over 24 beers on tap and seasonal specials, this is the best place to try variety. For $30 a person (price can vary depending on season, it was $25 in January), you can choose an assortment of eggs (regular, benedict, scottish), sausage, bacon, creton, salmon rilette, chicken & waffles, pancakes, toast, bagels, garlic potatoes, quiche, beans etc with all you can drink beer (any on tap!) and mimosas. Similar to how you would order sushi at an asian restaurant, you are provided with a menu sheet for the group and just need to list how many of each item you want to order. You can keep on ordering as much as you like. For me the highlight were the eggs benedict, served over your choice of veggies or meat and resting on a sweet bun, the sauce was so flavorful and the pulled pork or brisket (not sure what it was) was melt in your mouth. If you want to get your money's worth, stay away from waffles or pancakes, they were extremely filling. Everything else is delish!! Fun to come as a group then you can really sample every item on the menu.

Great place with good and accessible food and a very nice beer list. Good vegetarian choice…read more The only issue is that children are only allowed outside. Which mean summertime ;)

The seafood bowl I got was filled generously with seafood and veggies. The broth was savory and everything tasted fresh. The fried chicken was 10/10. It was juicy, crispy, and the sauces were sweet/spicy. It is a great combo of flavors that we can't get in Chicago. Service and ambiance were also good here.

Le sigh. We ordered two orders of Poulet Frit Beurre Miel (Honey Butter Fried Chicken), Batonnets De Fromage (Mozzarella Sticks), Frit De Patate Douce Avec Sauce Beurre-Miel (Sweet Potato Fries with Honey Butter Sauce) and a liter of Sapporo. Unfortunately, our waiter messed up our order and brought us boneless wings instead of bone in. The chicken can definitely use some improvement by being seasoned throughout. The waiter was apologetic, but instead of apologizing, he should've wrote down what we ordered. Also the ginormous pieces of chicken were overwhelming. I wish they had more sauce. The batter should've been seasoned before dredging the chicken. Compliments to the chef on his frying technique. The chicken was still crunchy a day later. I thought it was a little odd that they brought out mozzarella sticks with a side of salsa. I guess they do things a little different in Canada. The sweet potato fries were good, but also they need more honey butter sauce. We've never had Sapporo and it was so refreshing. It paired extremely well with the chicken.

It was hard for me to get excited from the start. Let's hear my experience; Parking: Ample parking. But cannot understand why out of the 3 spots right up front of the restaurant, they save 1 for handicapped and the other 2 for EV charging, when majority of the crowd that came there were elderly? I thought that was already odd. Brick and mortar: Beautiful building. Paint, doors and glass windows were so attractive.. Their tables and chairs on the other hand -- tables sticky, wobbly.. and their chairs, I have never been to a nice establishment with such neglected chairs. All the front edge of the chairs material (leather/PU leather) were peeling. As I said earlier, don't they want their customers to feel content instead of trying to get the chair's peels stuck in their pants after dinner? And then... Host: I kid you not.. the most non-common sense and laziest host I've ever met! We have a party of 6, one happened to be in an electric wheelchair. She took our group to the furthest and tightest table. Which was fine.. but did not lift a finger to make way for my uncle, who was driving his own wheelchair himself, by the way .. I caught her watching my uncle struggling driving in between the chairs. I was behind him and had to go another way to be in front of him to "make way"! When we got to the table, she turned her body around, had me behind her and watched my uncle trying to move the chair away so he can park his wheelchair in! I had to raised my voice at her to move away so I can help my uncle! Absurd! Food: Not good! All meats were dry and unpleasant. They tried to masked my burnt ribs with so much BBQ sauce. Server: Marie Claude. She's the angel and the knight and shining armor of this place. Super sweet, attentive and she dressed everything else amazingly for us such as drinks, dinnerwares and our coffees. Both of my stars are for her existence in this establishment alone.
