Vandeck did an amazing job with our yard. We struggled with this yard bc of a 100 year old tree stump and the insane amount of roots that come with it. We didn't even know if someone would be able to build on all those roots, but they had the frame up super fast. The trex (composite wood) they use is absolutely beautiful. The pictures really dont do the lighting justice, so if you're undecided about getting lighting, definitely go for it. It's a large space 16'x12', complicated ground situation, and having to bring materials thru a townhouse (which is super annoying and time consuming for contractors usually), and they still finished it in 8 days, way shorter than anticipated. The start of the job was a little delayed, but they were communicative and it was not a big deal. They're also very nice and polite. read more

I would highly recommend this company for deck repairs or constructions. I called them for doing extensive repairs to a two-level wooden deck in the backyard. Andrey came over and took measurements and sent some detailed renderings with images in his estimate. The estimate was less than other estimates I received (slightly less than another company I was considering), and none of the other companies took a careful look, if they even came out. The company did the work over a couple weeks in January 2025 with treated lumber, and they did a great job with it. Andrey came over 2-3 times to monitor the work. For a small amount of additional money, they agreed to replace most of the joists on the second level, as they were a bit rotten, although we had agreed on replacing a couple joists originally. The two workers were honest and when one of them mistakenly made a small cut in the mesh of a sliding screen, they reinstalled new mesh a couple days later. We are pleased with the result. read more

Working with the entire team at VanDeck was an amazing experience start to finish. I reached out to Vandeck in February and received a follow up call almost immediately. Andriy came to our house a few day after we spoke and measured the space. From there he drew up a design based on the details I had asked for. After he shared the design with us we met again (on the phone) and reviewed some changes we wanted to see in the plans. He was so prompt with updating the visuals I was honestly in awe. After we came to an agreement on design and were given the quote we signed the contract. We opted to pay for the deck in installments which made it much easier for us to move forward with. The team was able to start on our deck about 2 weeks after the contract was signed. It was still winter so weather had prevented them from starting sooner. I also believe our timing was perfect because we were able to get our deck in before the summer rush. The team who built the deck were amazing(Gamlet and Levan). They were so kind, the cleaned up after themselves (they had to bring all of the supplies through our basement as there is no yard access). I felt like the back yard looked cleaner when they were done than it had when they started. The earthquake in NYC hit about a week after the deck was complete and I noticed that one of the posts on our pergola needed longer screws. Other than that there was zero impact on the deck from the earthquake it is so strong and sturdy. I reached out to Andriy and he had the guys over within a day or two to add some additional screws for support. Overall it was an amazing experience working with the Vandeck team and I would absolutely recommend them. If we ever move to a new home I can promise that they will be one of the first calls I make. read more

Vandeck replaced a Brooklyn brownstone roof deck for me recently, when I realized that I had become too old and stiff to do it myself, and I was more than pleased with the finished product, Trex composite decking approx. 19'x16' with an L-shaped walkway, and the workmanship. Andriy the boss and Andriy the site manager were exceedingly competent and easy to work with. We scheduled the job for a few months out, to let my newly recovered roof set properly, and they arrived as planned. They started each day a little later than they otherwise might have liked to accommodate my sleep schedule without complaint, and Andriy #2 even surprised me on two occasions with little gifts, East European lemon wafers or candies almost as pleasant as the daily smiles on his face as he began or completed the day's work. Being a short person, when I raised a question as to whether the walkway might be a bit lower near the roof hatch so that I might more readily step up onto the deck, they lowered one section of the walkway to accommodate my request without complaint, stepping the walkway down as needed. Vandeck's owner, a bright young man who I'll call Andriy #1, had his crew provide the materials and begin the work without first demanding and receiving any payment upfront, trusting me as I learned to trust them. And they cleaned up after themselves nicely. I was sufficiently impressed with Vandeck at our first meeting that I determined to hire them on the spot without seeking additional bids, and I'm satisfied that I made the right decision. Do not use this company!!! We had hired them to put down sod in our backyard. The product that was put in was already dying. It was cared for as told and now is 75% dead. The owner claims it was our fault when clearly from pictures it was not a good product in the first place. He did not pick up his garbage as was told to us and now refuses to stand by his job or product and will not replace it. Now I am an 80 old woman that will now have to take this up legally.
