Vanderhoff and Sons (actually, the son) installed our AC 20 years ago. Since then, there have been very few problems, but all were fixed promptly and most reasonably. Last Saturday night, the unit gave up and this time, I just had a "feeling." I called mainly to leave a message to hopefully get a Monday appointment. Jeff called back in 5 minutes and asked if he could come over Sunday morning! At 7:30 am, he told me that there was a leak in the system and was upfront in not trying to charge me for troubleshooting. After 20 years (and, aren't these things supposed to last forever?), I agreed to replace. He then asked if he could remove the old units right then, to get a head start for Monday! Monday early afternoon, he was back with the new air handler which they positioned and got everything else ready, including handling all permits. Tuesday they brought the outside unit and everything was completed by 1 pm! During the course of the 20 years, he has also taken care of my heating system, installing baseboard to replace highly inefficient slab radiant, and ingeniously running the pipes within crawl spaces or walls (no basement) so that nothing is visible that does not heat a room. Eventually he upgraded us from oil to natural gas. ALL work has always been totally neat, with no parts or mess left over. You CAN'T do better for any HVAC work! read more

I have used this company on three different occasions, the first time I had an issue with my A/C in the attic. The water line kept backing up and caused water to leak through the ceiling in my bathroom. I had several A/C repairmen come for the problem. The would blow out the line, and then the A/C would act up again. At least three different people came and would do a temporary fix. Eventually a friend referred Jeff to me. He came and immediately located the real problem, charged a minimal amount and I never had the issue again. The second time was a few years later when my central air unit died and he and his wife Evelyn replaced my A/C unit for a fair price. They were professional and put down drop clothes and when the were finished you could not tell any work had taken place. Very efficient and professional. Then next time I used them was today. My pilot was working on my boiler but it was not firing up. I called them yesterday, and they came today. A switch had to be replaced. Once again, fast, courteous and efficient service. They are a small business and are honest and decent people. I would truly recommend them. read more
