This is what pretty much brought me here today. Orlando has some great parks and while this particular park can't compete with say the park at Lake Eola, it was never meant to compete with such a park. This park was designed to utilize some land that could not be otherwise used and give it a purpose and a place for a neighborhood to gather in leisure. We've had people from 20 miles away come to birthday parties we've thrown here and then will come back on their own, hitting us up to come play with them again. The playground is by far the biggest afound, stretching for a long ways. The balance beam & more feature that allows kids to basically circumnavigate most of it without touching the ground is really cool. Slides, swings, seesaws, and spinny stuff galore! And tons of room to toss a Frisbee or football all over. The small nature hike out to the dock and water is very well maintained. There are fiends for soccer and baseball too. Lots of stuff! Newton Park is a beautiful park overlooking Lake Apopka. Shortly after we arrived we were informed…read morethat there was a 10 foot alligator nearby. We decided to stay clear of that area where the gator was spotted. Tanner Hall, located on the park grounds, is an event venue available for rent. As we walked by, we were greeted by members of a family who had arrived for a reunion party that was being held in the hall. There is also a smaller building, Little Hall, that is available for rent. While some came by cars and trucks, others came by golf carts. Some children played on the playground while one child fished. An ice cream truck drove by the park playing that familiar tune that calls and lures children and those wanting a treat. What a sweet way to enjoy an afternoon at the park.

This park has lots of tree coverage which is much needed in the summer months. You can tell there was likely some damage and downed trees due to the recent hurricanes and some of the big oaks have uprooted. It's still a nice park nonetheless with wooden bridges, 2 playgrounds, a basketball court, and tennis court, and plenty of covered picnic areas and benches. They have a parking lot onsite as well as a community center. This park is also directly across the street from Dickson Azalea park, so if you're down for off-roading in more of a forest vibe (not stroller friendly), be sure to skip over there for a true nature adventure!

After serving in the military he attended the University of Florida and graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1948. Carl T Langford is most remembered for being instrumental in bringing Disney World to Orlando. Carl T Langford Park is an oasis of nature in Orlando. It is located along Central Boulevard just south of downtown. This 19 acre park has an abundance of ancient shady live oaks, wide sidewalks, and green open spaces. There are also laurel oaks and swamp chestnut trees. Many birds, butterflies, and squirrels make their home here. Park amenities include a playground, boardwalk, basketball and tennis courts, picnic pavilions, a gazebo and neighborhood center can be reserved for parties. A loved discovering the suspension bridge. In 2014 a three foot pink bunny sculpture appeared in the park. The rabbit was placed in the park in honor of Charles Smith (Chase Smith) a longtime aide to City Commissioner Patty Sheehan and Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs. Smith died in August 2013 at the age of 41, shortly after being diagnosed with cancer. Chase Smith stepped in one year to play the Easter Bunny for the children at the egg hunts in Lake Como Park and here in Carl T. Langford Park. He was a natural and was beloved for the role. To honor him, a pink bunny was placed here and at Lake Como Park. I enjoyed such a relaxing visit to Carl T. Langford Park. The trees are beautiful and this park is the perfect respite from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Go for a hike, take the kids to play, host a party, or enjoy a picnic. Whatever you do, you can't help but be charmed by the abundance of nature in this picturesque park

There is not much to this park, but it is geared more towards being a neighborhood park and again, it is a great addition to the neighborhood. In addition to the playground, it does have a few benches and a picnic table. It also has a small parking area. The hours are from sunrise to sunset. It lies on the west side of Greenwood…read moreCemetery which was established in 1880 and is where many of Orlando's notables and pioneers lie at rest. The wetlands were created in 1991 between the Lake Davis and Lake Como neighborhoods as a stormwater treatment facility to handle the water run off. While the main purpose of the park is to clean the reclaimed water, a welcome byproduct of that is that it attracts a lot of wildlife. Wetland parks are some of my favorite kind of parks because they attract a variety of wildlife including wading birds, migrating birds, lizards, turtles, and alligators. At the entrance to the park is a community garden and Little Library. My favorite part of the park is the 0.7-mile loop trail surrounding Lake Greenwood that takes approximately 13 min to complete. This trail is great for hiking and walking. Along the way you will pass cypress trees, cross two bridges, and see a variety of birds enjoying the lake. Animals that have been spotted here include blue jays, ducks, barn owls, and red wing blackbirds. During my visit I saw a Great Blue Heron and a Great Egret along with ducks. The scenery during my walk was stunning. I saw a number of people reading, playing with their kids, and exercising. This is an ideal place to practice your photography, bird, watch, and have a picnic. This is such a wonderful natural resource for the city of Orlando and I loved my visit.

Kewannee Park is located in the Indian Hills subdivision near S. R. 436 in Casselberry. This six acre park has the typical amenities you would expect to find. There is a large pavilion with picnic tables,, basketball court, playground, exercise stations, jogging path, restrooms, and pier. My favorite part of the park however is in the back where there is an elevated boardwalk that takes you through the woods. At the entrance to the trail I spotted a red-shouldered hawk. Across the street from the park is a stormwater pond that cleans the water in the Cassel Creek Watershed before it flows through Lake Kewannee and Howel, on to Lake Jessup, the St. John's River, and out to the Atlantic Ocean. Kewannee Park also serves as a trailhead to Kewannee Trail which runs along the north side of the park which runs 1.7 miles between Oxford St. and Cassel Creek Blvd. I love the recreational options and natural beauty of this park. Kewannee Park is the ideal destination for hiking, fishing, picnics, and play. The peaceful and relaxing atmosphere along with the well-maintained facilities make this a great destination for area families.
