After contacting Janice, because one of my specialist doctors didn't appear to be covered under Jefferson Health, she called me at least eight times to follow up, check for updates, make calls to the physician's office, all over 4 business days. My last call from Janice was on my ride to the doctor, to let me know she had spoken with the office, and ensured that my appointment was covered. To the Executives and Board Members of Jefferson Health, if Janice isn't highly promoted, add recognized each year, you're mashing a "big mistake. Big. Huge!" to quote Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman. You have a rare commodity, with extreme value, character, and skills that cannot be taught. Since she's likely in a work for hire position, essentially, she's a free agent. Lock her down, and don't be shortsighted. To the other healthcare companies, let the poaching begin. I guarantee Janice is talent of star status.

I had gone to an appointment with her once and really liked the doctor and staff's thorough and friendly approach. Dr. Cowan spent time with my wife, listened to her and really seemed to care. I had been having difficulty finding a doctor in the city that I really clicked with. Most recently I found a doctor's office that was adequate with a friendly doctor but then our insurance changed and no longer worked with that doctor. (Of course.) So, I decided to try the same practice as my wife. I was not disappointed. I saw Dr. Mark Graham who heads the practice and he was great. Really friendly, listens to you, explains everything to you. Gave a lot of general counseling for a person my age. Very easy and approachable. Absolutely what I want in a doctor. I also received the same friendly and thorough treatment from the staff. They make sure to give you copies of all medical forms for your records without having to ask, etc. If they continue to take new patients I would absolutely recommend this office for anyone looking for primary care/internal medicine doctor's in South Philly.

I asked her to numb me and she told me numbing it would hurt even more. The procedure she did was not one that would stop ingrown toenails from coming back. (My new podiatrist explained to t to me.) It's a temporary fix, which means I may have to have the procedure again. This time it will be done properly and with numbing! 2. She sent the sample out from my ingrown toenails and they results came back with a positive result for a fungus in. It's toes. She refused to treat me for the fungus. She told me if I keep getting pedicures the fungus won't go away. I found out that was false information from the podiatrist that I went to for a second opinion. 3. She and her nurse are blunt and rude! I am thankful to have found a new podiatrist that can help my feet heal!

I went to this practice today for a follow up procedure from a previous doctor. I was scheduled with Dr. Sonya Lee. I arrived, checked in, and filled out paperwork, then was taken back to undress and wait for the doctor to come in. When she arrived, my first impression was certainly not a warm and fuzzy one. She was unfriendly, abrupt, and even seemed annoyed or inconvenienced when I was explaining my medical history and current concerns. It was uncomfortable, but I figured not everyone is naturally welcoming or comforting. It was what ensued during and after my in office procedure that assured me this was much worse than poor bedside manor. As we began my procedure, I mentioned to Dr. Lee that I wasn't good with GYN "stuff" as in very sensitive to pain and/or discomfort in that area. This was just a heads up in hopes that she would have some empathy and maybe take things a little slower or with extra care, and her response was "well yea this isn't fun for me either". Great. So my sense of her being annoyed or inconvenienced at the beginning of my appointment was confirmed. She proceeded on with the procedure which was just flat out rough and fast - beyond unpleasant. I asked her at some point if it was almost done and she said it would be. The last few seconds were the worst, it was as if she was purposely being erratic! Zero concern or consideration for me, my body, or my sensitivities. Once she was done, I mentioned that the procedure was done a little fast and roughly. She was clearly offended and said she didn't know what to tell me and wasn't sure how they do it at other places, but that's how they do it at GSP. Then she says "well I guess I'll text you with the results". Her attitude about it was horrible, dismissive, and cold. I'm sitting there half clothed and the person who's care I'm in has treated me like trash. I couldn't believe what I was experiencing. I expressed to her that I was a little uncomfortable at that point and her response was "yea me too". She then proceeded to go to the computer to take notes while I was sitting there in a very vulnerable position, unable to get up or move. I asked her if I could have please have the room to get dressed and she got up, walked out, and slammed the door behind her. As soon as that door shut I was in tears. I could not believe the treatment that I had just received. I have never in my life experienced something like this. Sure, a medical degree is great for practicing medicine, but so is care, empathy, compassion, a good bedside manor, and a general respect and consideration for others - things Dr. Lee is clearly severely lacking. I will never step foot into the offices of Gynecology Specialists of Philadelphia again and I urge others to consider my situation before they do. There are so many wonderful doctors out there, terrible experiences like mine should just never have to happen. Glad I know now! Looking forward to seeing a new doctor in the future. **Update** Ironically, but not surprisingly, recently received this letter in the mail from GSP stating that I am being let go as a patient for being "rude and disrespectful to the staff." Hard to do anything but laugh at this. First, for the fact that this is what I get in response to leaving a completely honest review of a horrid experience I had - no apology or accountability from this doctor, of course - which is right in line with my experience. And secondly, the fact that they ever thought I was stepping foot back in that office again! Ha. No thanks, a thousand times.
