This place is a JOKE, very unprofessional and they are really just out to get your insurance. I came in for a simple physical which as we all know is preventative care and covered fully by majority of insurances. Well of course, she "diagnosed" me with some acute made up crap and billed out the visit completely different so of course not only did i have to pay my copay but now I had things applied to my deductible when it should have been a preventive visit. But wait, that's not all. She requested I have lab work done which was fine but WHY ON EARTH would you send me to have lab work done at a place that does not accept my insurance? Why not just print out the requested labs and tell me to have them done and bring back results? She's a joke and the front office staff are unpleasant, I called to have my online access reset and they were so unprofessional. I wish i would have looked into these reviews before I came. This office is aweful! I have been a patient here for the past 2.5 years and with each visit my experience goes down hill. The first visit was great so I always came back hoping it will improve - WRONG. I have visited 7 times but have only seen the doctor once. All other times I meet with a nurse practitioner because the doctor is never available. Problems: They "send" prescriptions that never make it to the pharmacy. You have to call numerous times to remind them. They do not follow-up on results or your questions. They tell you they will order labs. When you get the results back you notice they forgot to add certain tests that you need to go back and complete. Most importantly, do not lose your online username and password. They will give you the run around. When you complain they get snarky. I badly wanted to like this office but I am over it at this point. Tip 1: They have a young black women with black/blond ombre hair that is a patient tech. Times I've come, she has taken my blood pressure, temperature, and weight. She is the worst. All information I have received from her is wrong. She is clueless. Always double check what she tells you with the other staff. There is a 75% chance she is not giving you all the information you need or she is telling you something completely off. The others are much more helpful. Tip 2: Always double check your lab orders before you leave the office. Sometimes they forget to add things. Sometimes they take a urine sample and then fail to tell you that you will have to do it again 5 minutes later at the lab. Tip 3: Always confirm that they sent your prescription and they have sent it to the right pharmacy. They are famous for not sending a prescription. For the longest I blamed it on my pharmacy until I switched to another location and noticed the same issue. Tip 4 : Keep your online username and password. If you need to reset it you will have many problems. I am not sure why they don't allow you to do this online yourself. If you can't get in - you can't get in. They don't really seem to care. If you can't get online to check don't expect them to follow-up with a phone call. Their follow-up in non-existent. You will have no idea what your results were. Pros: Comfortable office, nice location, I never wait more then 15 minutes, in the same building as my lab. read more

I've been a patient of Dr. Vanessa Allen for seven years. To be honest and frank I don't know why I stayed this long. The 1st time I visited her office I remember waiting for over 40 minutes before she saw me. The longest wait was over (1 hour and 30 minutes). That should've been an indicator about the journey to come. Her staff has absolutely been terrible. They have: - provided me with the wrong results - told me the wrong day of my appointment - told me I was booked for Dr. Allen when it was really with the physician's assistant - never updated my address and name in their system (it might be something wrong with the system) - etc... I do have my issues with Dr. Allen. Actually the past 2 physician assistants that I've seen had better "bed side" manner than Dr. Allen. I'm sure Dr. Allen is good at what she does but I don't feel like she really cares about me as a patient. I can't speak for anyone else!!! This is my HONEST review!!!!! Please don't believe the hype from her website! Find someone who truly cares about you as a patient and they do not dismiss your health concerns!! I hope you appreciate the validity of my review. I have HBP and have been a patient of Dr. Vanessa Allen for about two years. I called Dr. Vanessa Allen's office three weeks ago to get my prescription filled and I have yet to hear from office. Mind you I have been seen within the year via physical appearance and a virtual follow. If there was an issues with staff or even Dr. Allen someone should have called me back. I have found Dr. Allen helpful and caring. I am really surprised to read the negative reviews here -- and I suspect that the writers have not been around the block very many times with healthcare providers!! Dr Allen caught my cancer. My other natural healing doc never asked for those basic tests, and I had lapsed and forgotten to get them done. So, she probably saved my life. She then directed me to a naturopathic oncologist (Dr. Stephany Porter) when I was unhappy with the side effects of Tamoxifen. (Note that she did not advise this course of care - but she helped me anyway.) She is the doctor for both my sons as well. I find her to be knowledgeable, broad-minded, and realistic. Yep the office staff has not always been great, but it seems better now. I have found them very kind, if slow. You wait for most doctors' offices, yes for as long as an hour, and no GP can guarantee seeing you same day in an acute illness situation -- only pediatricians always do that. read more

I'm disappointed with the billing practices here. I started to notice everytime I visited there was a huge bill from previous visit. I even was charged for a visit from 3 years prior before I could be seen inspite of having a medical urgency. If I had an appointment I would get calls from the finance manager telling I have to pay this bill before my appointment or I won't be seen. He would strategically call the day before appointment so that if decide to cancel he could tag on a cancellation fee. I have concerns with how the medical billing codes are being practiced here. I recommend patients get a thorough billing statement printed with each visit and check with your insurance company accordingly. Because of this I had to find a new physician. Unfortunate for the doctor I find her to be nice. I would imagine she has lost many patients due to how the billing department is being ran inappropriately. read more

Make the right choice and by all means do not trust this office to manage your health properly. You will never get a follow up call, she will never address issues directly even if she's clearly made a mistake. Do not make an appointment with Dr. Allen and assume that you are in good hands and definitely do not trust her with your health to include primary and gynecology exams. I am in the process of looking for a new physician that will have a genuine concern for my overall health. Issues with my Lab work went unaddressed for years and she never follows up with her patients. During office visits she is impersonal and shows very little overall concern. This has been my primary doctor for about 2 years now. I am in the process of looking for a new doctor. I've been stuck here kinda due to no opening available for the good doctors I would like. I rarely see Dr.Allen and that's by choice. When I tell her my problems she out talks me and I'm just like wth.. So they had a practitioner here named Lynn who left and I was so upset! I really liked her and felt comfy with her. Now there's a new practitioner there who seems very unsure of things.. This woman is a joke. My son contacted this doctor because he broke his finger. He placed a call to her on Saturday morning and instead of telling him to go to the emergency room for treatment she wanted to have him make an appointment to be looked at. I could not understand someone calling you in pain tells you he fell to the ground his finger hurting and been in an awkward position and you want him to make an appointment to be evaluated at her office. I wish I would have come on yelp before coming here. My appointment was at 2pm, I arrived around 1:45pm, was not seen until almost 3:30pm, and am just now leaving at 4:40pm. I had an appointment with Cherise, the NP and she was great, but I won't be coming back. I had to get vlood work done and when I asked where to go and if I could do it today, it closed at 4pm. Mind you I could have gone had they not wasted my time. I had to give a urine sample twice as the first one was left in the restroom from hours before, no one collected it or put my name on it. I then have to wait even longer for a prescription since I just moved here and don't have a pharmacy. I finally get my prescription and my name is misspelled and my date of birth is wrong!! Dr. Allen and I got off to a poor start, but I haven't been an easy patient. After years searching for a doctor to actually listen to my symptoms and treat the cause, I was frustrated to say the least...at my wit's end. Regardless, she did not get upset with me despite how brash I was, and she calmly agreed to order the lab tests I requested. This was what convinced me to come back because every other doctor I'd seen had refused to order those tests. On my 2nd visit, Dr. Allen listened to me and agreed that although my T3 level was only on the low end of normal, that I might benefit from thyroid treatment. She prescribed natural dessicated thyroid, just what I'd hoped for. I now feel great and almost all of my symptoms are gone. I'm super grateful to her for listening to me, the patient, instead of going off of archaic, allopathic medical "wisdom." read more

Was really excited to have an open minded doctor with a holistic approach, so they could hear the whole story about my extensive medical history with chronic illness. The Nurse Practitioner, Lynn, did exactly that and was amazing. But she left and since then, staff turnover seems very high, except for the main desk girl who is usually unfriendly and does not identify herself when answering the phone. She also made repeated mistakes on my appointments, and does not follow up when she says she will. Since Lynn left, I have had to repeatedly explain my long history of medical conditions. When I finally met Dr. Allan, she didn't want to hear it, and was immediately combative with me, ignoring my medical history and blaming me for changes in medicines her staff had previously prescribed. She'd ask questions, but when I'd answer them, she'd tell me not to talk over her and to just listen. I can't wait to find a new doctor. read more

I've been Dr. Allen's patient for 3 months now, I've been visiting her regularly and doing everything she recommends me to do (tests, treatments, more tests, mess, creams, etc.) but nothing seems to help and have been a waste of time and money. Furthermore, every time I get to her office I have to wait somewhere between 2 to 3 hours to see her, and once she finally comes in the room , she would chat with me only for 10 minutes. Furthermore, every time she asks for a test, she would never follow up with me so I have to go back, wait, and find out that the test are normal, I'm not happy with her or her staff service, and of course not happy with the waiting time. read more

Wow reading the other reviews today before submitting this one, I have only myself to blame for not checking yelp a year ago when I went searching for a new primary doctor. Was very excited to find a doctor who believes in both traditional and holistic medical care. I've been in to see Dr. Allen probably twice since selecting her as my primary a year or so ago. Generally, thought all was ok...however, must confess that I've only relied upon her office to get labwork done, etc. Reason I'm posting this review today? Well after sitting up most of the night with some pretty severe pain I called her office first thing this morning asking to be seen. Terry the front desk person who answered the phone stated Dr. Allen is not in until 11 am today and has no availability at all. At first I was really thrown...I honestly don't recall ever calling another doctor's office and stating I was in pain and having the person on the other end give a response that clearly indicated absolutely no concern what so ever. She did not say, well let me get your number and I'll have a nurse or PA call you back...notta,nothing. With that she hung up. I ended up driving myself to an urgent care center and it turns out I'm just getting old. They gave me a NSAID shot and suggested I follow up with a specialist. Now what is my concern with Dr. Allen's office - I just think it would be nice to feel like someone in your doctor's office cares. Just a little. Well I've cancelled that follow up appt I had for a few weeks from now....have to get to work looking for another primary care physician...WILL NOT BE GOING BACK. read more

We were loyal patients for 7 years and things became worse and worse. I think the main issue is that they've taken on WAY too many clients and now it's over a week to get an appointment, and we ALWAYS wait FOREVER in the exam room for the Dr. The final straw was today when my husband called every hour and then even more frequently from 0930 until 3:30 explaining that he was literally bedridden in pain and pleading for them to call-in a damn refill for his muscle relaxer. They treated him like complete garbage and we ended up having to go to urgent care for it. Last week they never had the Dr. call back as promised for this either. We are absolutely disgusted with the customer service there and will never return. read more

Let me start off by saying I will not be returning to this office. I found Dr. Allen after searching for a phsysician that would provide both traditional and wholistic treatment. Prior to my appointment I was very excited about completing my physical because based on the information from the website the physical is pretty thorough. Prior to my visit I had to complete a lengthy treatment history forms. However they never used the information. When I arrived at the office the front desk took my insurance information and looked up my benefits. She proceeded to tell me I would not be able to be seen until I met my annual deductible. I contacted my insurance provider in the office and they informed her I was entitled to an annual physical, she informed the insurance company that I could not discuss any concerns or issues with the doctor. If I did and the doctor provided answers to my questions, I would be billed. She stated I could only have them tell me whether or not I am in good health. The young lady at the desk was not polite nor did she protect my dignity at the front desk. I asked her to ask the medical staff what would the doctor specifically be able to talk to me about and she came back stating if you have "itching or scratching in places you would not be able to receive any treatment". This was highly inappropriate and should have been addressed privately. Considering she had no information about what I needed. Dr. Allen has students from TESST working in the office. However they need classes in bedside manner. The student told me she needed to take my weight and to take off whatever I wanted to take off to get an accurate weight. I took off my coat and proceeeded follow her to the scale. She looked at me and was like aren't you going to take off my shoes. I said to her, I asked you what was needed and you said to take off what I want. She said well you should take off your shoes too. After taking my vitals the student left out of the room and gave no instructions. She then came back and said "oh, you should take off your shirt and put on this gown. This was my first visit to this office. I was seen by a Nurse Practictioner(NP) and not Dr. Allen. The NP was very condescending and uncompassionate. She did not review any of my treatment history and only had a piece of paper to take notes. I should have gone with my first thought and left the office. However I decided to give it a chance because I really wanted to have the services they reportedly provide. Nonetheless I am back to the drawing board. I will be filing a complaint with someone regarding the treatment I received. read more

My visit was a complete disappointment. Though the assistant, who took my weight, and the Student Nurse Practitioner, who took my history, were both very pleasant and professional, I found Dr. Allen to be quite stand-offish. More importantly, the holistic/alternative approach that attracted me to the practice was not to be found. I came in for an introductory exam/physical and was offered a prescription pain reliever for a sporadic condition that doesn't even warrant aspirin. (What about the acupuncture treatment touted on the website?) There were suggestion of referral for 3 standard screening tests (which I declined), yet no discussion about my lifestyle or diet, except for the customary questions regarding alcohol/drugs/cigarettes. I searched high and low for an African American female doctor and was so excited after finding doctor Allen. But my experience has been everything but good. No return calls, poor communication, long wait times and constant frustration regarding getting medication re-fills sent over ect. Every call to the office always ends in I will send Dr. Allen a message!!!! It would be nice if she would take the time to call her patients back because its evident her staff is not equip to give proper messages and aren't authorized to handle anything. Sad read more

I made an appointment with Dr. Allen because I wanted to know if my hormones were in optimal range or not. The day before I completed the online new patient registration (which asked lots of vaious qestions pertaining to physical/mental health). At the end of the registration the system stated something went wrong and my info didn't save. I immediatly called the office to see what to do next (do it over or via paper and fax) and the receptionionist told me the system received the info, I Arrived at the office and the receptionist gives me a piece of paper for me to state what I want to discuss with the doctor, what medications I was taking etc (all of which I entered during the online registration). On the bottom of that paper it stated I was over due for some test/exams (pap, HIV, cholesterol, thyroid etc). Some were not due just yet and others I figured sure why not (its always good to know your status right?). The physician's assistant took me to the room and took my bp, temperature, weight and asked some of the same questions that I answered online Once again I infomed a memeber of that office I aleady answered those questions. Not once did anyone ever say the online registration didn't save your input. I was initally seen by a med student (she asked if that was ok and I said yes). She asked lots of questions to understand why I was there. She did a physical exam (check lungs, thyroid gland, bowel sounds, push there/press there). One of my answers made her take a look at the coloring on the back of my neck. She met with Dr. Allen then they both came in a short time later. Almost immediatly Dr. Allen mentioned a PAID weighloss program she has (mentioned that two more times during the visit). Not once did she actually touch me, just talked from her stool. The med student could have been totall incorrect with her initial assessment (lungs, thyroid etc) and Dr. Allen didn't even double check her assessment. Even though some of the issues I have are associated with a hormonal imbalances (dizziness, insomnia, anxiety, obesity) Dr. Allen did not request any lab work, NONE AT ALL. I found this very very odd since she did agree with the dark pigmentation on the back of my neck could be an imbalance. I walked out of that office not any closer to knowing if I have imbalance or not. A complete waste of my copay. I wonder if she would have ordered the test if I signed up for her weightloss plan? read more
