Very stressful doctor. When talking to her about my depression and anxiety, her response on TWO occasions was "why are you depressed, you're pretty." Not a good joke... at all. She told me to get off my meds and when I got a second opinion, I was told it is better and preferred to stay on my antidepressants. She also insisted to see me every two weeks for no real reason and paid for sonogram each time. She told me this was standard and necessary. But it was incredibly costly and after mentioning that, they told me I have the choice to opt out of sonograms. Thanks for telling me that after I paid for almost 10 of them within my first few months... Every time I call the front desk to schedule, they screen their calls. Meaning they will not answer but then immediately text you back asking how they can help. It's incredibly unprofessional. This office has caused nothing but stress for me and my husband and our first pregnancy. Do not recommend. read more

I can't speak for staff from previous years, but Dr. Mahalati is the best out there as far as obstetricians. She is patient, kind, and quick on her feet. I have been seeing Dr. Mahalati for the past 2 years, and she has been nothing but awesome. The nurses are caring and know their stuff. I have yet to ask them something and they didn't know. I am on my second pregnancy with the same staff. They have been nothing, but patient with me and takes care of all my needs. In between these two pregnancies, I cannot describe how therapeutic and supportive the staff has been. I look forward to future services! Because they get you in and out while listening to you and checking on your unborn child. They even still ask about my first born, which warms my heart. A friend of mine discovered at 48 that she was pregnant. It was not planned and she did not take the news well. She was high risk, uncomfortable and a single mom - which meant she could not take off. The only time she smiled the whole 10 months was when she talked about her OB who she lovingly referred to as "The Mahalati". I told myself if I ever got pregnant I'd give her a call. Then - I didn't get pregnant - couldn't get pregnant. Her name and number lingered in my phone for months...years until one day BAM. Early 40's the stork finally came. Dr. Mahalati is extremely professional and personable at the same time. She has knowledge and a relationship with the primo hospital in our area and believe me - they all know her there. i hadnt been to the doctor since grade school & was terrified when i found out abt pregnancy. From day one I explained my fears/anxiety, & Dr. Kathy & staff ensured I was comfortable & relaxed each visit. Laughing & talking w/them calmed my nerves (thats the office atmosphere, very inviting). I ALWAYS looked forward to my visits. They made me feel (& know) I was more than a patient, they treated me like family! Level of concern & compassion, talking me thru everything. Above & beyond care. They knew how nervous I stayed (anxiety) & would come & talk & laugh with me before the dr saw me (this also got my BP down to normal).I could/did text with questions/concerns & quickly they responded & relieved my anxiety. A lot of uncertainties along the way; Dr. Kathy personally ensured I had the care (w/specialists) needed. Dr. Mahalati is amazing and going to her was one of the best decisions I've ever made. Five stars isn't near enough. She works tirelessly for her patients and goes above and beyond. I am a 38 year old first time mom and Dr Mahalati was who I needed in my corner in order to keep me and my new daughter healthy. During my appointments throughout pregnancy Dr Mahalati, Chenelle, and the rest of the team addressed all of my questions and took great care of my and baby girl. Leading up to delivery I had low platelets which was cause for concern and continued during my labor. The Friday my husband and I went to the hospital for induction and delivery and Dr Mahalati was in contact with the nurses throughout the night and was at the hospital keeping watch over me and baby girl all day Saturday until delivery early Sunday morning. Her careful eye and persistence enabled me to have a vaginal birth with an epidural rather than a c section where I would have been put under due to platelet count. Not to mention, after delivery she even brought me in food which was a very sweet and amazing thing since I hadn't been able to eat in over 30 hours. She also came and checked on us Monday and Tuesday to make sure me and baby girl were doing good and didn't need anything. My wife's first 2 appointments were with Dr. Mahalati. We decided around 8 weeks to switch to a birthing center. We asked for my wife's records to be faxed over for her 12 week appointment. At 10 weeks we called to make sure our records were sent over. Dr. Mahalati's office claimed the fax machine was broken. So, we sent a written request to have our records sent in the mail. When my wife and I showed up for our 12 week appointment, no records were sent. Dr. Mahalati's office claimed they never received the form. Again, they said there fax machine was broken. I had to drive to her office with a police officer on call before Dr. Mahalati's office said they just got a new fax machine. My wife was finally able to have her appointment. Because I had to handle this, I missed hearing my baby's heart beat. While this was as distasteful of an experience as I could have had, it did make me very grateful to be going to the Family Health and Birth Center. Dr. Mahalati and her office are clearly a part of America's Medical Machine that insists on putting profits ahead of patients. read more

I have had the most professional and personal experience with Dr Mahalati and her staff. I started my experience with them when I was 8 weeks pregnant and haven't looked back since. Dr Mahalati listens to your concerns, wants and fears. She is beyond knowledgeable in healthy, at risk, twin, or any type pregnancy for that matter and takes all precautionary measures to make sure you and baby are healthy and happy. In House phlebotomist, sonography and Physician assistant are bomb! Let's talk about the staff. AMAZING....everything you want for people who handle your personal medical files and around for your personal examinations. Discretion and personable is the best way to describe them.( love you Chanel) It was so reassuring knowing EVERY member of the staff had my personable interest at heart and wanted a safe delivery. I delivered at Holy Cross and Dr Mahalati was the Kobe Bryant of the labor and delivery medical staff. Post care has been top notch. I have my forever ob. To bad this was my last baby. She likes to pond a lot of her patients off to other doctors, doesn't answer or return phone calls. I was a h/r ( high risk) pregnancy and she was more worried about getting paid than my health and baby.. I lost over 40pds within 1 month. adv her of the vomiting, she thought everything was a joke. Her ultrasound lady would take 2 pictures and say " oh the baby is okay". And come to find out I had bleeding behind the baby. She sent me to like 3 different doctors for NO REASON!!!!!! just so she dont have to deal with me. ( while i was vomiting blood)!!!!! I wouldn't recommend her AT ALL OR HER STAFF!!! There is not enough time or space to express the lack of professionalism of the doctor and staff. My last trimester was pure hell. I have been a patient of Dr. M for 10 years and she has delivered 2 of my children. Never again! She became rude, yelling at me when I called her cell phone 9 months pregnant, not listening or being attentive to my personal needs and concerns. My delivery was at a hospital I despised and with valid reason. I was forced to deliver there after being told I had no other choice in my 38th week of pregnancy while I had pre-registered and toured Holy Cross. A hospital I was told from the beginnig of preganancy was an option. With just the tip of a very negative iceburg being expressed, I have changed my OB/GYN. Found her online and she is very nice & polite . The wait is a little long even if u come early . The staff is really nice. Never had a problem but when I did give birth she yelled at me for getting epidural to early. But other than that she is great . She woke up at 5 am when I texted her I was going to go give labor but it was a false alarm . I had Dr. Kathy Mahalaty for 5 years. She delivered all my babies and asked me for a review a few times. Well, let me be honest, if you are looking for a Dr. that will take time to examine you and listen to your medical needs, not here. She rushes in/out and will spend maybe 3-7 secs (not minute). The most problem I have is the staffs that work with her and handles the payment part. The staff will over-book the patients so the Dr. literally have less than 5 munites for each patient. Also, the staffs are the worst nightmare when it comes to billing. They will send you to a collection agency without contacting you for any missing information. seriously, they are horrible. Forget the 4.6 ratings on other websites. Dr. Kathy Mahalaty literally begs for it (at least, they asked me). The staffs are ridiculously horrible and will give you different information each time you call, then send you to the collection agency! The Dr. is beautiful but she is always in a hurry for the next person. If you are looking for a Dr. that will take at least 10-20 min to see you, this is not the place for you. The waiting time is between 1-2 hours for a few secs one on one with the Dr. If you don't need much medical concern or just a regular pregnancy check-up, this place will work. As I stated, the staffs that handle the payments are ridiculously unattentive. They will misplace your information and send you to the collection. Dr. Mahalti and her office were wonderful throughout my entire pregnancy - from appointments before I became pregnant until our baby girl made her debut. She is a stellar doctor who takes her time with all her patients and explained things in a way my husband and I could both understand. She is no nonsense and extremely caring. Dr. Mahalati was my ob/gyn for two of my children beginning 9 years ago. I loved how patient, caring, and cautious she was. I returned to her office recently 8/2015 expecting to receive the same care, but her practice has changed tremendously. I can't even rate more than one star. So far, during 2 prenatal visits, I have not even had a chance to speak with her for more than one second. She rushes in the room and rushes back out. The visit is so quick that she doesn't even close the door to see you. Once she barged right in while I was getting dressed, wrote a referral and left. I am so disappointed. I loved my experience with her 9 years ago when she actually took her time. Reading some of the other reviews, I now have to prepare for the battle everyone else have complained about to have my records released. I hope she reads these reviews and realizes that her patients miss the old Dr.Mahalati. I have been going to Dr. Mahalati for about 2 years and she is nice and knowledgeable. However, I give her office a low grade because I recently made an appointment for 12:45. Me and my fiance' arrived 15 minutes early and gave them my new insurance card just so they can update in my record. My insurance did not change and my coverage did not change, only the card changed and I communicated this to the lead front desk. The lady took the card and after about 30 min, I went back and said do you still need the card. She said she is still trying to get in contact with the company and she will give back to me when she does. Approximately 20 min passed and I get called in to the front desk, I was told that my appointment for that day has to be rescheduled because they can not get in contact with BCBS (health insurance company). I said I am here and have been waiting all this time and took off work for this appointment. So if it is the co-pay you are worried about let me get in contact with them while you do your work, and when I get in contact with a representative you can talk to the representative and get the co-pay information. I was told "that won't work because the number that we call is different from the number that members call." I was told those exact words ...comment sense would tell you that no matter what number you call the information of co-pay is the same. As soon I left the office, I called BCBS, and they told me the co-pay information which has not changed from my previous visits, and the representative said that she could have relayed the information over the phone to the lead front desk personnel and no matter which number one calls the information the same. Needless to say, I will not be rescheduling. I am shopping around for new doctor with staff that have better customer service skills. The front desk person could have deal with many different ways, I have been they customer for many years and they did not trust me enough to bill me the co-pay or take it on the next visit ....so sad ... read more

I would not suggest this doctor If you are a female professional over 30. Dr. Mahalati was very disrespectful and gave advice with bogus information. She encouraged me to have children before 35 and referenced new mothers over 35 as "elderly mothers with bad breast milk". I have no prior outstanding medical history. She even referred me for a mammogram and I am under 40 years old with no family history of breast cancer. She said all of this without even doing my pap smear. Yup that's right she just looked at me and told me I needed fertility assistance without even doing a pap or running any tests/ labs. Her front desk staff were terrible, unprofessional, and shared patient protected information such as social security numbers, names, and addresses in front of other patients in the waiting room. I did not feel like Dr. Mahalati cared about my health or respected my personal decision to wait until I'm ready to be a mom. read more
