She sounds great, but as I have no direct experience with her, I am giving 3 stars so as not to change her review "GPA." I spent a long time reading her reviews as she appeared to be the best OBGYN near me. The "website link" didn't work. It was not until I put the address in GMaps that I discovered she is now a Kaiser doctor. I'd have saved a lot of wasted time had I seen from the start that she is unavailable to me. I am posting this to let others know, she works for Kaiser now, and there is no indication that she has a private practice outside of Kaiser. Dr. Kaleb is an extremely warm, kind, and trustworthy OBGYN. After nervously searching for an OBGYN having just moved to Oakland 3 years ago, my friend highly recommended her. She had a full load of patients, but she kindly took me in. She took care of me during my first pregnancy, and now my second pregnancy. I feel so lucky to have her for my doctor. She listens patiently to my concerns, and it never feels like she judges me through my struggles before, during, and after pregnancy. I do not have experience with Dr Kaleb as an ob, but as a gynecologist, unfortunately I was misdiagnosed by her 5 years ago when she was in Long Beach and this has made my journey to finding a proper diagnosis and symptom management very difficult. If you have painful menstruation, this is NOT normal and I wish the time was taken to look into the possibility of endometriosis instead of being brushed off as dysmenorhia and prescribed strong medication for pain without looking at root causes. Unfortunately, med schools do not have separate residencies for obstetrics training and gynecology training, therefore great Obs may not have the time or experience of properly diagnosing gynecological problems. read more

Now I'm very happy because I also discovered the best girl-bits doctor ever: Dr. Vanessa Kaleb who was referred to me by Dr. Malek. They work in the same medical building so if I schedule both appointments back to back I can get all my medical needs met in one afternoon. Don't get me wrong, I like being a girl and all but there are some things in a girl's life that aren't so great. First, we got to start wearing bras. Then we discover that we're going to bleed a few days a month for the some of the best years of our lives. The only exception being the nine months when you got a bun in the oven that will either be squeezed out of you like a melon that's stuck inside turkey or will be yanked out of you after you're sliced open...you pick. Oh wait, then when you stop bleeding once a month the changes in your hormone levels will make you have hot flashes and wild irrational mood swings. Now imagine being the trained medical expert that has to deal with all these issues. Nope, it's not easy being a girl-bits doctor. I'll be straight with you, it's not a lot of fun going to see the girl-bits doctor. You have to take off all your clothes, fold them in a neat little pile and you hide your panties for some odd reason....because, well, think about it...you hide your panties and then in a few minutes she's going to be poking all around your business anyways. Despite all that Dr. Kaleb makes you feel so at ease. She answers all your questions, and no question is too weird, odd, dumb or unheard of. After a few minutes you even forget that you're not wearing anything but a soft pink robe. When I go to visit her I am totally surprised at how detailed she is about keeping up with....uh...the health of my girl parts. She remembers stuff. She remembers stuff about me from last year's annual exam that I forgot about. She's awesome. That really is so rare to find in the medical field. Too often people are treated like a chart, a piece of meat, a nameless person with a patient number....but not with Dr. Kaleb, she remembers YOU. read more

Really liked Dr. Kaleb. The rating is no reflection on her. The visit was quick and comfortable. She's professional and knowledgeable. However, hate her billing office and will not go back to Kaleb's office because of this annoying ordeal. I've received two separate bills, one earlier on, then a second one way later. When I received the second bill, I checked it knowing I had already submitted payment. When I called they explained what the second payment was for. But I realized they had still charged for the first payment. Is this confusing yet? I asked them if they would have caught the mistake had I sent in the overcharged fee. They said flatly, no. That was a few weeks ago. I just received another bill for the second payment I already sent in. Sigh. Then, to create a bigger headache, Long Beach Memorial bills separately for any labs completed. Who knew, but alright, fine, more fees to pay. They say I have two more bills to pay. Separately billed of course. They didn't have my correct address, which I had already called in previously to correct. Lame. Never again. read more

NEW MOMMIES: DO NOT GO HERE! I had the worst experience of my life at this office. I read the reviews of Dr. Kaleb and decided to give her a shot. Worst decision of my life. After my husband and I found out we were pregnant, we were elated. I immediately called Dr. Kaleb's office and was greeted with non-chalant attitude followed up with a ghetto retaliation "Dr. Kaleb is fully booked." I said "How can she be fully booked when I JUST found out I am pregnant." The receptionist then double-checked her records and said I could come in until I was 8 weeks. WTF! Around 6 1/2 weeks into my pregnancy, I start spotting lightly. I freak out and call Dr. Kaleb. However, I can't get through to her line. It was busy and the voicemail kept saying I was calling during after hours (even though it was 10am -1 p.m. on a Tuedsay). I finally drive down to the office because I can't reach them and they say I must have been dialing the wrong number. I WAS NOT. When I get there, they say Dr. Kaleb is out for the afternoon and I would see someone else. This next part is SAD. So, I go to give them a urine sample and guess who I see in the back! Dr. Kaleb....sitting in her office. I introduce myself and she looks up with a smirk like "and you are??????' I am so confused at this point. Anyways, I go to the other doctor who is out of the office "Dr. Rickard" and she refuses to give me an ultrasound because it was too early (really???) and examines me. She said everything looks fine and sends me home. I get home and guess what! MISCARRIAGE! Bleeding everywhere. I didn't freak out because I read that you can bleed and it will be fine. Besides, she JUST told me I was fine. I go to the office the next morning when the office opens and the SUPER OBNOXIOUS SUPER MEAN office manager, Jacky, calls me into her office huffing and puffing and telling me that I should have went to the ER instead of coming to her office. She tells me that I should not have tried to come into the office. She was very rude about the whole thing and basically just wants me GONE! So, I went to the ER. The ER doctors were SO nice! I explained to them what happened. I was elated to finally get some good help. I wasnt rushed out or smirked at! I was treated like a sad pregant woman who just lost her baby...not like a bum off the street! Oh...and Dr. Kaleb's office is not just an OBGYN! She has botox patients in the same office. So when your pregnant self enters the old run down looking office, you can also get some botox! How fitting (SARCASM). Save yourself a head ache and go somewhere else...a place that actually cares about you. read more

My wife and I randomly selected Dr. Vanessa Kaleb, based upon her location relative to Long Beach Memorial (i.e. she is literally across the street). Needless to say, we struck gold. We found her information online, with no reviews provided. Without knowing of all the other OBGYN's out there, we are 100% positive that she is the best out there. We were ecstatic in coming up with positive pregnancy test. We first tried Dr. Cynthia Chao, but only because she was the absolute closest to our home [See my review on Dr. Cynthia Chao]. However close Dr. Chao may be to our home, she's not even on the horizon of doctor choices. Back to Dr. Kaleb. When you first enter her waiting room, you notice that it's never packed and that you do not ever have to wait more than 20 minutes (even on the busier days). All of the staff is cheerful, helpful, and informative. Just a heads up - This is a practiced shared by other doctors (only 2 others at most, I believe). Dr. Kaleb modestly assures us that they are also great doctors. Any of the other doctors can fill in for her when she is out of town and vice versa. Such was the case with us, and we were pleased with the experience. When you first meet Dr. Kaleb, you are immediately and welcomed by her sincere and warm smile. As a man in an OBGYN office, I thought that I would feel awkward and uncomfortable, but it was the exact opposite. I agree with Monica P.'s review in that Dr. Kaleb is very open to any questions (even with any issues or questions about sex while pregnant). She exudes such an intimate demeanor, that you feel you and your partner can speak on any subject with her. My wife says that she is the best OBGYN that she has ever had and feels equally comfortable with every visit to Dr. Kaleb's office. Dr. Kaleb is as professional as she is friendly. She is very informative and reassuring of any condition that you may have. After offering different options for my wife's future hospital stay with our newborn baby, she is respectful and accepting of any decisions you voice. For instance, she encouraged my wife's decision of a natural birth without the labor-inducing petosin or epidural. She assured us that she would give it her all in securing us a room to ourselves for my wife's and baby's recovery, but revealed to us honestly that it depends on the occupancy at the time. Dr. Kaleb is the best fit for our family and I believe would be for any others. Her office is spacious enough to accommodate their patients and the wait time is very tolerable. The staff is always helpful, friendly, and informative. Dr. Kaleb is very compassionate, empathetic, and informative. Anyone would feel uninhibited to ask her any question without feeling embarrassed. OMG, Vanessa rocks! Four weeks ago I was panicked when I found out I was pregnant but that my old OBGYN DIDN'T DELIVER BABIES! I thought, where am I going to turn to? SHould I just pick a name out of the yellow pages? Out of the Blue Shield Provider handbook? Some stranger? I turned to Yelp for help and came across Dr. Kaleb's profile. Yesterday my husband and I met with her to get our first ultrasound of our little fava bean-shaped baby...she was so easy, and comfortable, and friendly - and the staff! OMG - the staff was practically more excited for our baby than we were - what a nice thing! We even got this very cool little "congratulations-you're-pregnant" swag-bagg before leaving the office. She was the most caring and through doctor I have yet to go to. She truly cares about her patients. I have moved to the San Fernando Valley and I am sad to say I have to relocate doctors because of distance. She will be forever remember as the doctor that brought back faith in me. I absolutely LOVE Dr. Kaleb! Her office: it is small, and hard to find the first time, but it is directly south of the parking lot towards the end. Parking is validated and free if you are there less than 30 minutes (which Dr. Kaleb is so damn quick I never have to pay!). Secretaries are meh, medical assistants are much nicer. Dr. Kaleb, she is full of positive energy, sweet, friendly, funny. She makes you feel comfortable and at ease, asks appropriate questions, is thorough, and smart. Dr. Kaleb is awesome, and so is the entire office staff. I went to her based on a friend's recomendation after I was unhappy with my initial choice of OB, and am glad I did. Dr. Kaleb is attentive and caring, she included my husband in the birth of our child, and she has a great sense of humor! It wasn't until after we moved out of state and I had to switch doctors that I realized how absolutely fabulous she had been. When Dr. Kaleb was out of town, I saw another doctor at the practice who was equally concerned for my well-being and that of my child. The staff actually remembered me when I came in and were very sweet to my baby girl. The office is clean and the equipment is modern. Dr. Kaleb delivered our baby and supported us through the 41 hours of labor, and through the emergency care I needed after the delivery due to complications. When I moved, only one doctor in the whole city actually delivered her own babies! Even though my new doctor is nice and attentive, I miss Dr. Kaleb. I believe I'm in good health and still able to have more children because of her care. read more

Good afternoon Dr. Kaleb, maybe good morning. Maybe a little bit weird to get this message. I explored on google for hours to find a good Obstetrician and Gynecologist for our upcoming baby near UC Berkeley, then I found you, with plenty of good reviews by the lucky families, then I decide to join them if I could. Actually, we are not in the US now, the reason that we choose to deliver at the States it's because we have a good memory when our baby was labored at UCSD health center, my wife had been taken very good care as well as the baby. And after then we decided to deliver our baby in the states again. Here I have a question about the fees, we all know that the living expense is much higher in SF than in SD. We don't have any health insurance that could cover the delivery fees, so please tell us the cash pay of labor a baby at the hospital and several necessary examinations at the clinic 2-3 weeks before the delivery day. What I mean is if we don't have health insurance, all the billing will be paid by ourselves with cash. BTW, the due day will be around August 18th. Best Leo read more

I've been coming to see Dr. Kaleb for over 5 years now and I swear she is amazing! I've been wanting to switch insurances but she doesn't accept the one I want to switch to so for that reason alone I'm sticking to the same one. I can't see myself going to another OB/GYN again. My son is 2 now and I'm sad she was on vacation when I went into labor but her partner covered her and she was just as great. The girls at the front desk are so sweet as well. I have loved my experience with Dr. Kaleb and her office team so far. I found her through Yelp and she always was recommended by my general practitioner. Since this is our first baby, I wanted to go to someone I could trust and was trusted by others. My first appointment went well. She came in to meet my husband and me and then we met with her in her office to get to know each other better, so she could provide us with information, and just as importantly, she let us ask every question possible. Seriously, we're still in that 1st baby paranoia stage where in our minds no question is silly enough until we think about it later. :) After the session in her office we had our first ultrasound. She walked us through every step and really made sure we were comfortable and feeling good. She has continued with this same professionalism into the second appointment, but it's really more than just professionalism. She brings a warmth to what could be a very sterile doctor's appointment, and she adds to the joy of pregnancy. I very much appreciate, as does my husband, that Dr. Kaleb is excited right along side us. I couldn't have picked a better doctor to help us through our first pregnancy. Dr. Kaleb is hands down my favorite doctor!!! She is knowledgeable, professional, compassionate, current, and follows up with you consistently. Her bedside manner is fantastic, I feel completely comfortable talking to her about all of my health issues, even problems that may tend to be a little embarrassing to talk about. She is always caring and will figure out whatever needs to be done to make you feel better. I have been seeing her for about 3 years and cannot imagine going to anyone else ever! My two best friends and three of my coworkers have also become her patients from my recommendations and are huge fans. The office is also conveniently right off the 405 freeway and easy to get to, parking can be a little tricky from time to time so allow a few extra minutes to find a parking space. read more

I needed a second opinion on some results from my family doctor, and thought I would give Dr. Kaleb a try. I had not been to an actual OB/GYN in years. I'm very particular on my doctors, especially in regards to anything below the belt. Dr. Kaleb was very professional, but also very nice. She took me out of the exam room and into her office to talk before the exam. She called me with the results as soon as she received them and was available when I called back with questions. I like many of you read some of these great reviews on yelp and other medical sites where Dr. Kaleb gets great reviews which is why I chose to see here as my OBGYN. I was at first very Happy with our visits prior to my pregnancy. My main point here is Dr. Kaleb isn't the Doctor for me, this doesn't mean she's a bad Doctor I just didn't feel comfortable with her as my Doctor any longer. i'm currently 17 weeks pregnant, My husband and I are over the moon excited, 1 because i just assumed it would be hard for me to conceive( I have adenomyosis) , 2 because in a past relationship my hubby experienced a miscarriage and it was devastating for him, and 3 because we both really wanted a baby of course! At about 12 weeks i woke up at 4:00 a.m. with bleeding. We were both very scared. we decided to wait till Dr. Kaleb's office Opened. We got there the second her doors open. there may have been two other girls in the waiting room with me. The Office girl Janet who i LOVE asked me to go give a pee sample so i did. as i walked back to the waiting room I saw Dr. Kaleb sitting at her desk. I thought perfect she'll see me right away and we can put our fears behind us but NO. I sat in her waiting room for TWO HOURS watching patient after patient go in before me for routine visits. Every second that past not knowing if everything was okay with our baby was horrible. At one point in tears i asked the office girls if i should just leave and go to the emergency room, they advised me to just stay (an hour or so had already past). I should have just gone to the emergency room in the first place However it doesn't excuse the way my situation was handled. Dr. Kaleb was not apologetic in anyway but she did let me know I should have called her before I went there. If her office was open at 4 a.m. i would have called. Prior to me leaving Dr. Kaleb office she would always starts off with asking if you have any questions. This bothered me for two reasons 1) if you didn't have any questions for her she says OK great we'll see you next time that was the end of that and 2) I feel she should be telling me what i should expect. I;m a first time mom and have never been through this. I don't always know what to ask. One last thing i'd like you to know is her equipment is out of date, that may not bother any of you and it didn't me till I found out I had to go to a different office to get most of the ultra sounds done. At my current OBGYN's office the tec does all your ultra sounds for you then shows them to the Doctor right away. This is comforting to me. if there is something wrong the doctor will at least see it right away. I would not recommend Dr. Kaleb to any one i know read more

I am very disappointed and frustrated as I just missed a call from this office, left a voicemail saying that they would have to re-schedule my June 5 appointment. I called back to consider re-scheduling even if I have been waiting for this appointment for the past weeks because I've been having on and off pain. The lady wanted to re-schedule me on June 19 (3 weeks from now!), I kept saying that I'm having pain and it should be considered emergency, but she ignored what I was saying. Very inconsiderate! I was looking froward to seeing Dr. Kaleb, as I just got my insurance and have been looking for a good OB since then. But I don't appreciate the way I was treated upon scheduling (as a new patient). read more

Since I found Dr Kaleb on Yelp I figured I ought to write her a review. Throughout the last 9 months or so that I've seen her, my personal outcomes have been pretty lousy (failed pregnancies). Usually you imagine that your OB will see you through the best time of your life; unfortunately, my experiences were every parent's worst case scenario. In spite of this, I feel grateful that she was my doctor. On the worst day of your life, it's important to have an ob who sincerely cares about what you're going through and will do everything in her power to take preventative measures for next time. Because of her proactive care, I discovered I have a hereditary blood disorder that went undetected by any other doctors who have treated members of my family. I will now be transferred to a high risk dr and will see a hemotologist, for my health and for my hopeful future baby. I hope every mom's outcome with Dr Kaleb is much different than mine, but you will find comfort in knowing that she genuinely cares about her moms and will be there for them whatever the case. I will also note that she came to the hospital for me at 4:00am despite the fact that she was coming down with an illness. Additionally, she makes her phone calls personally and has even called me a few times just to check in and see how I was doing. Simply put, she puts her patients first. On another note, her office recently updated their system which means that patients receive access to test results as well as have an easy way to correspond with doctors via email. I love having a way to access my chart as needed, a tool that's been especially helpful when I want to Google my results. And yes: there's an app for that :) read more

Dr. Kaleb is great. Professional, kind, thoughtful, attentive. Also, thorough, organized, and a great communicator. I found her two years ago through Yelp reviews. My initial visit in Oct. 2011 was very positive. And my return visit for my annual exam Nov. 2012 was just as good. I had tried two previous gynecologists for my previous two annual check ups, ever since my long-time gyn retired. Both had provided indifferent service, and were uninterested in answering what I considered pretty basic questions re: peri-menopause. Dr. Kaleb did a great new-patient interview. Answered my questions, suggested tests I might want to have run to answer further questions., etc.The annual exam itself, never on my Top 10 list of fun things, was the calmest I've ever had. She has a light touch. When I returned a year later for my annual exam, she remembered questions I'd asked her from the previous year. (Including some I'd completely forgotten about.) Her Long Beach office is a bit of a distance from my Cypress office, but it's worth the drive. read more
