I had asked if I would be covered if I loaned my car to a friend for a day, he was trying in every way to get me to add the name to the police or even just for the day. When I explained that I had read on Mercury's website that I would be covered he responded with "well if you already looked, why did you contact me" I explained i just wanted to be sure, things could be different state to state or policy to policy. I said it would be ridiculous for me to pay to add someone to my policy if I didn't have to, meaning me personally, Not that it was ridiculous for Mercury to ask. Then he said to me "did you just hear what you said?" I replied: "What?" and he repeated, "did you hear what you just said?" He then continued "You think its ridiculous to pay for adding your friend to the policy, but not ridiculous for Mercury to pay for an accident". I then explained that that was not what I meant... I tried to explain, but he just kept interrupting me. So, I just said I would just call Mercury. Which I did and which they also advised that yes, I would be covered if I loaned my car to my friend and they were in an accident. Needless to say, I am changing agents. There was no need for his sarcastic comments toward me.

The most inefficient and frustrating process ever! Their insured driver was at fault and I have had…read moreto constantly call around and speak to different people asking for updates after having to take my car to a location so that their people can take photos of the damages. In my experience an adjuster always comes to you to inspect and document the damages. Two weeks go by and I don't hear anything, I call and speak to two different people who are completely clueless. One person tells me they mailed out the estimate the day after my car was inspected, and couldn't even confirm what address it was sent to because I had not received it. After multiple days of calling my adjuster Daniela Ibarra, I finally get in contact with her and she EMAILS me my estimate. Even though the other person told me it was physically mailed??? She then proceeds to tell me they're going to physically mail me a check and the amount is based off the damages they can see in photos. Once a body shop inspects further damages they can reach out for a supplement amount. But had I not initiated contact first, how long would I have had to wait before receiving this estimate and getting this initial check??? So I proceed to call around multiple body shops to take my car in so they can give me a better idea of how much in damages there is. Only to find out none of them want to work with Fred Loya and that Fred Loya is the one insurance they DONT take. Hmmm, I wonder why?! Also, I asked Daniela about the process of getting a rental car to which she provided me a number for the "rental department" and it's a fake number that doesn't even work!!! I have since tried to contact her 6x within two days and left voicemails and she hasn't even attempted to return my calls despite her voicemail saying "if your call was received before 4pm, we will make every effort to return it by the end of the day." Every time I call it is between the hours of 12pm-1pm during my lunch. Absolutely ridiculous! As a result I reached out to my own insurance so they can deal with Fred Loya's people because it is absurd how much effort I have put forth to sorting out an accident that was not my fault! I would give 0 stars as a non-customer. Don't know how or why they're still in business and have so many locations with how shit their entire process and customer service is.
