I have been going to see Christie for almost 4 years now and she is the best stylist I have ever been to. She is also the owner. By far, Vanity Salon & Spa, provides the best customer service and prides themselves on serving their clients. I don't normally post reviews, but after reading some of the recent negative comments, I had to post this. I find it hard to believe that YELP allows people who were not even in the salon or who probably never visited the salon to post reviews for other people. There is something seriously flawed about that review system. One is in Glendale, CA and the other is in Florida. I bet they get to the High Desert often and probably have no idea where Apple Valley is. I was actually in the Salon when this young girl tried to go from Black to Blonde. It was obvious she had already wrecked her own hair with "box color" and tried to come to a Salon to have someone else to blame. So lets get the "real truth out" like another reviewer wants to comment and post a review about. I heard the stylist tell this young girl she was taking a chance and she should probably wait till her hair was healthier since her hair was already in bad shape, and the girl insisted on moving forward. The mistake that the Stylist made was thinking she could work miracles and actually help this poor girl out, her hair was already jacked up and damaged. She wanted to complain and have someone to blame after the fact. Get over it, she ruined her own hair long before she walked in to that Salon. I did the same thing when I was younger and thought I knew everything and never listened to advice. It is only hair, it will grow back! And to say nobody tried to correct or help the situation. The owner, who stopped doing my hair in an attempt to intervene and help the situation, offered the girl conditioning treatments to improve the quality of her hair. She refused and only had her boyfriend make a scene in the salon over the price she agreed to pay. I think they already knew before walking in, that they were going to try to get something for nothing. Like I said, I don't normally post reviews, but someone needs to defend the hardworking owners who are trying to build something to support themselves and their families. They are not perfect, but I can say that the owners of this business try and provide a great service for a moderate fee. Critics use sites like this as an easy platform to try to destroy what others have built, and to them, I say shame on you and your coordinated efforts to have friends who have never experienced this business post bad reviews. Look at all the other reviews for this business. They must be doing something right. Kudos to Christie and her staff at Vanity Salon and Spa for taking the high road. They are not perfect, but they are great at what they do and they try to make every customer happy and satisfied. As long as they will have me as a client, I will always come back to support and use their business. read more

I LOVE VANITY!!! I have been going to this salon for YEARS, since they opened. All of the girls are friendly and welcoming. It feels like a little family every time you visit. I would never get my hair or nails done anywhere else. I lived in Arizona for over a year, and still came back for my fix every time I needed anything done. Needless to say, I'm happy to be back and much closer to the salon again. My mom has always gotten her hair cut and colored here. So, I'm not sure what some of these girls are talking about by calling the ladies "incompetent" and giving such poor reviews. We've NEVER been dissatisfied leaving Vanity after great product, technique, and customer service. My mom moved to Wyoming, and still refuses to get her hair done anywhere else!!! She visits us and makes sure to book an appointment every time :) I wouldn't continue to recommend family and friends here if it wasn't as great as it sounds! The atmosphere is wonderful, the customer service is overwhelmingly warm and kind, and the talent is over flowing. They always have excellent deals and new product every time I visit! This place is amazing!! I have struggled to find a good hair salon since we moved up here 8 years ago, and my search has come to an end!! I had excellent service from the moment they answered my call to the minute we left! I called at 3pm today and despite being booked they worked us in, stayed late for us, and treated us like gold! My daughter was super pleased with Melanie who completely understood what she wanted and knew exactly what she was doing! Christie, who answered the phone, was the gal who worked on me and I am BEYOND pleased with my hair cut!! Every salon I tried in the high desert would ruin our hair so bad that I would leave in tears!! This is a beautiful salon, as well as the people that work there. Their work is awesome. My haircut and color are perfect every time. I even sent my friend who made the mistake of having a ... um so call stylist do a fun color. Well needless to say My friend went in there with platinum blond, with black, bleeding into gray, and the pink turning dome awful purple .... and the topper her hair was mush, YES mush ... falling out in her hands ... I called Shawnee, and she worked her magic and my friends hair looks sooo AWESOME!!!! Gave her the cutest cut of course because she had to have her long hair cut off ... there was no way to save it! This is the best salon in the high desert by far!!! The full service salon gets my business every month. Spray tans are a must for me and my hour massage is heavenly! I have had plenty of massages elsewhere until i found Vanity. She really knows what she's doing. I like to change up my hair too. The high quality products they use on my hair always leaves it soft and healthy. I've learned to make my next appt when I leave to ensure I get into there busy schedule. The owners are very professional and the staff is so nice. A warm welcome and beverage is offered to me within seconds of my arrival. Reasonable prices too. I went to this salon on 5/5/12. I wasn't exactly sure what I wanted other that I wanted a dramatically different look. Dayna helped me choose a hair color, and style based on what I liked, and what would look good with my face and pale skin color. I couldn't be happier! I didn't want to see the "transformation" so I kept my eyes closed, when I opened them I was thrilled! This is the best salon experience I've ever had. Dayna is awesome! Christy does an amazing job! I love this salon. I have very dark brown hair and I wanted some cool fun colors put in so she warned me that bleaching my hair would damage it so I took her advice and we did a few sessions of lightening my hair and it probably took 2 sessions but for the last few months she has transformed my hair into utter colorful perfection! The bleached ends aren't fried or over processed, my hair is healthy and hasn't been this long in years. I'll never go to another salon again! read more

I couldn't believe how nice this salon was for being in the High Desert. They are very clean and have a friendly staff and offer a ton of services. Full service!!!! My husband treated me to a day at this salon and spa and I was definitely pampered. Awesome facial , great manicure and pedicure, and loved my highlights!!!! This is the BEST salon/spa in the desert. The staff is very friendly, talented and the establishment is always very clean and tidy. The stylists are great at what they do and the manicurist is amazing as well! You are always greeted and offered a complimentary beverage while you wait or as you sit. Vanity salon is an oasis in the desert... feels like your walking into a salon down the hill. Christie is AMAZING...always cheerful and sweet... but above all she knows what she's doing!! Get my hair cut usually about every other week. Vanity Staff is always friendly and they keep the place super clean. Customer Service is excellent. Shawnie is great at cutting men's hair and my wife can't say enough about Christie (Owner/ Head Stylist). Both are fantastic. This salon is awesome! I have been getting my services here for years including my favorite Keratin Complex Smoothing Treatment. My hair is curly and super frizzy.
