Loved my experience despite all the craziness in the world. Everyone here seemed very responsible. Masks on, they opened the door for me, brought me a rolled apron, asked me to sanitize with they're touchless sanitizer. Then I noticed someone wiping down and sanitizing the counters after I had just been up there with my purse and such. Very proactive, very respectful. They make sure you're okay with a blow dry too. As for my hair - I saw Brittany and I loved her! Comfortable to be around and she definitely was as detail oriented as I was about my hair. I chopped off probably 7 inches of hair or so and she was checking in with my comfort zone constantly. Did a great job with my natural high lights too (I'm a natural blonde so don't use my picture for reference if you're not also a natural blonde lol) all in all great experience and will be back! read more

Returned to my same stylist for a second time for some highlights. I was satisfied w the hair color however my hair ended up completely damaged and broken. My hair was literally fried in bleach for 3-4 hours . Mind u bleach should only be left on for 30 min. My hair was cut the same length all around days before the service and i now have way shorter piece's than others. I went the next day to complain about the breakage and all my stylist could say was "no there was no breakage from a professional point of view " I paid wayy too much money for this service for my hair to have come out fried like that. I was quoted something way different for this service too & just ended up very disappointed. read more

Angelica is amazing: I went in for a color correction/major color change and she absolutely nailed it, and quickly too! I went from a messed up light blonde to the perfect coppery red! I've been a blonde my entire life and the first person I talked to after going red truly thought I was a natural redhead because she did such a good job. She was even able to fit in a haircut when I had forgotten to schedule a color AND cut. (It won't happen again!) I felt so comfortable and pleased that the customers around me had all been seeing their stylists for a long time. Great environment and easy going vibes. The consultation process gets rid of any questions or unknowns because Angelica (and the other stylists from what I could tell) answers any questions and explains the process along the way. Boo! Went to get my hair dyed Saturday morning. Single process. No frills. Girl asked what color I wanted & I said chocolate brown & showed her an admittedly blurry pic of my son. I love his hair. She didn't even ask me to approve the swatch before mixing it up & putting it in my hair and she waaay over dyed me. The girl who washed my hair was working really hard to get all the dye out. She kept scrubbing & rinsing in a way anyone would recognize as putting in major effort. My hair, after leaving the "best salon in Houston" reminded me of the bottle dye my grandpa used to put on himself. It looked terribly fake. Just awful. To make things worse, there was dye on my t shirt. I went for a run later & the dye was still bleeding. Even after showering, I fell asleep later on my white comforter & you can tell where my head was. Please see pics. All this for the low low price of $160. lol For reference, my hair is fairly thin (I just had bulk removed last week at a different salon) and it is only shoulder length. $160. I had a wonderful experience with Selena today. She is currently at the San Felipe location but she is moving to this location. She took my yucky quarantine hair that was wreck with box dye. I hadn't cut it in months. She didn't act like it was a big deal to fix it and she got to work. I am used to being uncomfortable when getting my hair colored, especially because I got a base and highlights. She also cut my hair and made it such a comfortable, relaxing experience. Been growning out a botched haircut from another stylist for months. After walking in to Vanity last week to purchase Aveda products, had a brief consultation with Gabby while she was in between clients. Got my long and somewhat curly hair shaped up by Gabby yesterday and was pleased with results. She listened to me, understood what I wanted and will do a 'dry cut' as I always prefer. The salon is very nice and modern, uses and sells all Aveda products, from hair, skin and body products to makeup so glad I no longer have to go the Galleria when I need an Aveda product. I moved to Houston a while ago and I've been searching for an Aveda salon. I decided to check out Vanity due to its 5-star rating on Yelp. I came into the salon with high hopes, but left disappointed. I came in mid-day on a weekday, not a busy time. I was excited and ready for the Aveda experience I've had in the past at different salons which included excellent customer service, sensory rituals, great Aveda products, and an overall pleasant experience. Met with the stylist and explained to her what I wanted. I don't bring pictures, because I hope for that same look, but it never turns out the same. So, I've learned to just tell my stylist what I'm looking for and let them work their magic. This time, however, it must have just not been a good stylist-client match. I explained what I wanted and she gave some suggestions. One of them being a dry cut. I've never had a dry cut and I will never have one again. I came in for an experience, but all I got was a haircut, literally. No Aveda products, no sensory rituals, average service. I trusted her, because all the other Aveda salon experiences I've had worked out well. I've tried styling my hair different ways, but over the past few days my disappointment has grown and I'm really unhappy with my haircut. The stylist was nice and funny, but I can't stand looking at my hair right now. I won't return to this salon and my search for a new stylist continues on. Angelica is amazing! I went in and tried to describe what I wanted and she knew exactly what I was looking for, even with my limited knowledge of hair terms. She came back with a plan of action and it was a little more than I wanted to spend, so she adjusted the plan to cut down on cost, but still keep a similar look. I loved that she was so upfront about the cost so that I wasn't finding out for the first time at checkout. I love my results and Angelica, so I will be back! I only left a one star for the clean and modern salon. Last Sat., I had an appt. with Angelica for highlights and a cut. I showed her a pic & I explained that I wanted to go for an overall lighter look with medium thickness highlights. She mixed the color and did my highlights with no attempt at conversation. The receptionist came and told her that her next client was waiting. She then sat me down on the booths to let the color process. I sat there for about half and hour and never once did she check on me b/c she was working on the other client. After she finally came over and took a quick peek at the color, she told another girl to wash me out except for a couple of the highlights at the top of my head. She hadn't even checked on those but just assumed they would take longer to develop b/c she did those last. The other girl washed me out and then sat me back down for ten more minutes. She then washed me out and called Angelica, who was still with the other client, over. Angelica looked at my hair and then didn't say anything. I asked for a mirror and saw that the highlights that she had done were super thin, not medium thickness as I had requested. I don't know if she was trying to save on product but that was clearly not what I had requested. she didn't even want me to look in the mirror and kept saying that she didn't have time and that we needed to hurry up b/c her next clients was arriving soon. I decided to just let it go because she obviously doesn't listen to or care about what her clients want. She also quickly dried my hair with zero styling quickly walked me to the front desk and went back to clean her station. When I got home, I noticed the ton of breakage my hair had endured b/c she had left the lightener on my hair for so long without checking on it. If you love your hair, make sure you avoid Angelica. read more

Love this new Heights location. Its beautifully decorated and sets a calm and relaxing scene and atmosphere- perfect for taking a couple of hours to myself. The Heights is a little bit of a drive for me, but I followed Melyssa there because she is the best! She gets my highlights and color perfect every time. Melyssa is our family hair stylist and probably will be for a long time. I have been to many barber shops and hair salons in the past and no one can get it right. Melyssa can handle any male hair style I've thrown at her and she makes it it look great! Not to mention my wife's hair. She has done color and cuts that make my wife's hair look amazing. First of all the Salon is beautiful, however I felt so violated when I left the salon, I was told a price and then when I went to pay it was more. They don't go over the charges at the front desk they just input in computer and give you a total, when I asked for an itemized list of the charges is when I found out the prices I was quoted in the chair with the stylist where not what I was charged when I asked why the gentlemen went and talked to my stylist and instead of her coming and speaking to me (she did not have another client in her chair) she told him what to tell me, I was so upset I left in tears. I love Aveda products and thought I found a great salon but now I am not to sure. I reached out to the salon to have a manager contact me but no one did :( read more

I transitioned to Aveda makeup and wanted to shop local. I walked to Vanity and when I stepped inside, I was immediately greeted with warmth. Emily assisted me with my purchases and left out the high pressure sales pitches which turn me off to any shopping experience. I appreciated being treated as a valued customer though it was my first time and I wasn't there for a service. If I didn't love my current stylist so much, I'd definitely make Vanity my go-to for my hair styling needs. In the mean time, Vanity will be my Aveda products home. I do hope the Heights location expands its services to facials and massages. I look forward to returning and supporting this local outstanding business. read more
