I don't leave reviews often, but Kenny's earned every word of this one. I brought in my 2005 Dodge Stratus for a major job -- spark plugs, ignition coils, and several other components. We're talking a $3,000 repair. Work was done, car was running, I was satisfied. About a month later, check engine light comes on. Misfire. I brought it back not knowing what to expect -- and this is where Kenny's separated themselves from every other shop I've ever dealt with. They inspected it, found that 3 of the coils had failed, and also discovered the O2 sensor had completely gone out. They replaced all 6 coils and the O2 sensor. Completely free of charge. No debate, no runaround, no "that's not covered." They just made it right. That level of integrity is rare. In a world where most shops would find a way to charge you again, Kenny's stood behind their work without hesitation. That's not just good business -- that's honor. Price is right on the Mark. However, my new brakes are squeaking and they can not fix it. I got an oil change and they did not do any check on car or fill up the fluids. I had to fill up the windshield wiper fluid when I got home. I know how to fill my own fluids, but it was a hassle. Also the places need to be cleaned, the mess in the garage is bad. Timing belt job on a Honda pilot 2012. Kenny's quote was significantly lower than everyone else and the reviews were great so I took a chance and so far so good it's been a couple weeks. No leaks everything is clean. Car runs like new. They kept us in the loop and did not do any work without approving it. There were a couple extra parts with no additional labor that I agreed to have replaced as long as he was in there but the entire job less than half the dealer quote and had the car back the next morning. My experience with the dealer has been the cost is always significantly more than they're already inflated price and they often have a flat rate for the job which includes labor so you get no break on doubling up the labor which is already been paid for. The final cost on the job was exactly what they said plus the additional hundred dollars in parts that I agreed to and always recommend replacing those additional things when the labor is already included. I try to do most the work in my garage but it's good to know when the jobs get a little bigger there's a quality mechanic in the neighborhood! read more

I had my car towed there months ago because it was running rough but wasn't throwing any codes. I got plenty of calls over 2 months about them having to get this tool, or that machine to just diagnose my car and then he tried to tell me my car threw dozens of codes... it did not. So they finally said they couldn't fix it about 10 days ago, and 4 days ago I get a call from Omar, saying "the owner" (Omar IS the owner) wanted my car out of there and they were going to push it out into the street, where I could get tickets for it or get it towed and owe 1000's of dollars to the city and a tow co. I just had to scrap my car because I can't afford to get it towed back to Lakewood and I don't have a running car. If you're barely hanging on by a thread and need your car repaired, find someone else or just scrap it and save yourself the headache. read more

These people have cost me my health, my money, and my week. I brought my car in to have my air conditioning fixed. Paid 446 dollars. It worked but made weird noises, smelled funny, and cut off way after the car was turned off. Was concerned, but it still worked. A week later, back to absolutely NOTHING blowing out. It is almost in worse condition than before. And guess what? Now we are in the middle of an EXCRUCIATINGLY hot heat wave, and these people are out of the shop, not answering or checking messages, their voicemail is full. Can't even take it anywhere else to be properly fixed because it's too hot to drive, which is costing me big time!!!! And I cannot afford to pay again. I DO NOT recommend this shop!!!! I really appreciated my experience at Kenny's auto care. I had taken my Mazda to the dealer for a regular inspection, and they told me that my timing cover gasket was leaking oil. They quoted me $1,500 to fix it. I took it to Kenny's to see how much it would cost--and it was the best decision I could make. I brought my car in to have brand new tires I had on my old car swapped with the slightly used tires on a newer car I had recently purchased. Many places I called refused to do this, citing liability concerns and other such nonsense. Kenny's didn't give me any runaround--just a solid quote and the obvious answer that yes, in fact, they can do that. I dropped the cars off in the morning and picked them up around lunchtime. I made an appointment. Showed up. They had no idea I had an appointment. He jacked up my car right away and came back out 10 min later to tell me they don't have a filter for my car. They said they could change just the oil. I said I wanted to see the filter because I hadn't changed one on this car before. Great service. I caught a flat on my way home Thanksgiving night. By the time I made it home my tire was nearly off of the wheel. Fortunately Kenny's is across the street from me so I went over to them first thing the next morning. They were nice enough to come over to my garage and throw a spare on my car so I could even drive over to their shop where they repaired my tire. Just so happens that I was due for my 30k maintenance and they were able to take care of that for me as well for much cheaper that what I would have paid at the dealership. Oh, and the charge for coming over to my garage?...$0. I happily gave them a nice tip because service that good should be rewarded. read more

Get this out there: I hate spending money on car repairs or servicing... but you have to do your preventative maintenance somewhere. I checked the dealer's service department for the cost of "normal scheduled maintenance" for our car and got a figure in the $800-1000 range. Deciding to check around, I found a coupon for Tony's in the coupon mailer we get one or two times a month. (Note: I knew a coworker who'd been satisfied by Tony's work before). I spoke to them and with the coupon, got a price of $200 for a 60K mile tune-up (mostly fluid and filter changes, some adjustments, and checking systems) and a full (auto) transmission fluid servicing. While the car was at the shop, their tech found our rear brakes and rotors were shot (something I heard common for our make and mode of vehicle) to the tune of about $230 more parts and labor, plus, the injector body/intake had gunk in there that'd be better off with a $89 additive and/or flushing of some sort (this is the only snake oil part of the appointment -- but I thought I'd try it, as the fuel economy of the car was suffering a bit lately and possibly slightly fouled injectors could be a part of the cause). So, by now, with the added services, the bill jumped a bit north of $500. I rate this as a positive experience for these reasons: 1) I still saved $300-500 off of what I could have spent at a dealer but got more done on the car, 2) I felt they dealt with things in an honest and straight-forward fashion, 3) the car was ready on-time ahead of when promised... took just a few hours. Tony's is a full-service place with ability to work on all automotive systems, including brakes, tires, etc. The only thing they don't do (that you'd need to go to a dealer for) is "driveability" problems according to one of their staff. The location is right next to the Downtown Renton Transit Center. Perfect for if you possibly could go Metro or Sound Transit to work after you drop off your ride for service. Also, this place is walking distance to many interesting shops, coffee (and cupcake) houses, wine bars, and restaurants (Indian, Pho, Mexican, Italian, Thai, etc.) so you could spend your day taking in the sights in Renton for an afternoon while your car gets looked over. read more

He has turned me down working on a couple things he didn't think his mechanics would do well with (complicated 4x4 & ECU unit) and I really appreciated that he was willing to turn some work away so he can focus on keeping his service as good as possible. read more

Something was wrong with my car, I have previously taken it to a different auto repair where they kept the car for 2 whole days and found nothing, they told me nothing was wrong with my car. I took it home and the problem still there. I checked yelp and I found this place with excellent reviews so I called and I left my car there the same day, they called me by the end of the day and told me what was wrong with it. They fixed it and when it was time to pay I was very surprised that was not that expensive, I was expecting to pay $100s of dollars. Definitely going back to do the maintenance that my car needs. Took my car here to get the O2 Sensor fixed after I couldn't get the sensor unscrewed trying to change it myself. I was quoted 450$ at Midas due to a "300$ Sensor" -_- I bought a 110$ direct fit sensor at O'Reilly's and brought it into Kenny's. Omar quoted me 40$, then thought it might require a few extra steps to fix it. He called me to confirm that the new price of 100$ would be OK, I said yes, then when I showed up he informed me they found a way to fix it without removing the seat and it would only cost 40$. It is very rare that a mechanic would not just charge you the extra, and be honest enough to fix it for the lower price. It is nerve wracking as a woman thinking mechanics will take advantage of you, but Omar won my trust over! Would recommend to anyone! read more

I have taken different vehicles to this shop 3 or 4 times and every time they have done an excellent job and have charged me less than expected, because 2 of the trips have been done after taking the car into Firestone close to the house and them not fixing it correctly and charging me more. I will never take another vehicle anywhere else. This last time, I failed the smog test and I decided to take it to Kenny's even though they were not on the approved state list for the work. They looked at it and gave me a call stating that the parts needed to fix the issue were brand new. Instead of just replacing all the existing parts they dug into it and found a small part within and solved the problem. Then they drove it around and let it run for a while to make sure it would pass. I only was charged $120 for part and labor. And I passed. I am sure that it would have cost me $300 to $500 at Firestone from past experience. I generally do not trust mechanical shops, but I trust this one. read more

at first site everything was fine took in my car to have valve cover gaskets replaced power steering rack and lines replaced cause I needed them. these people took three weeks to do that I was gonna do all of this myself because I knew how to but I just didn't have time so I took it "to the professionals to do it" after that I still have more going on I have a miss fire in my engine and it's a p0300 and it's horrible I now myself need to fix it. oh did I mention that they told me I needed a new alternator because my car didn't start when I got it back guess what it was a battery I needed and the damn battery I had was a damn volks wagon battery even the staff at autozone were like "you have a different type of battery that won't let you start the car" well yeah I guess these people changed it wanting to juice me of my money because they thought they could get me nah mf I know you wasted my time my money that I paid 1780 and originally was gonna pay 1900 but thanks for the extra 200 bucks I guess now I gotta diagnose what is the miss fire because With that code it could be anything but I will check but overall I don't recommend going here or overall a mechanic unless it's a "trusted mechanic" or do yourself I watch my youtube vids my car was always running fine until now because of these guys but I would recommend just doing your own work if I could give this review 0 stars I would. read more

More than once I go in and tell him what I think needs to be fixed, and when he checks the car and finds it doesn't need to be done, he let's me know. Doesn't do it anyway just to charge.
