Just walked in the store as a 1st time customer and when I walked in I said hi and there was a worker a girl that heard me but didn't great me back...another person a man that was working also didn't greet me and I was right infront of him. Just left didn't want to spend my money there...terrible customer service. Went in today just to check out used clubs because I needed to replace one. Brett was eager to help me find the right club and gave me a good recommendation that fit my skill level. My girlfriend even saw a good starter set of clubs and we were able to use their nice golf simulator to make sure we liked the clubs first. I ended up getting a used ping hybrid with a new grip as well as a new set for my gf. Good value too. I'll definitely be back when I need more things! read more

Extensive selection of new and used clubs. In the last year they added 2 simulator bays with GC quad for fittings and distance gapping sessions. Salesmen are knowledgeable, and some are more assertive than others. However, I always fell I got a good deal when I shop at this store. read more

Unfortunately, the store manager, Ted, is not so great. He seems to have an issue upholding the playability policy that is plastered all over every piece of marketing material they have. I buy a ton of golf equipment, and occasionally want to use this benefit, but was recently refused having their policy honored. Fortunately, Van's has several great locations to visit as I will no longer be doing business at the Camelback location. A special shout out to Dave at the Gilbert location, he worked with me to get me into a set of irons that helped me shoot my best round of the year. read more

Came in here because my SO wanted to get a driver. Barry came to help us. We warned him right away that we had just moved into town and my SO hadn't golfed in a LONG time. Once we said that, Barry whispers to me how WE'RE the reason there's traffic in Phoenix. . . . . 1. I work from home so no, I'm not the cause of YOUR traffic. 2. It wasn't our choice to move here, my SO's job asked him to do so. Thanks for the cold welcome. That right away turned me off. And at that moment, he decided to begin selling us his private lessons: saying we need 3 MONTHS of training with him, need to practice TWICE per day (uhh do others NOT work around here?!), and we have to not get impatient with him (guessing most people do because he was already on my last nerve). And honestly, trying to loudly correct someone's swing in the middle of a store within 15 mins isn't going to happen, dude. He didn't even let my SO try any other drivers he was looking at and was like "Nope, this is it. This is the driver for you." During this time, another party was trying to get fitted yet Barry told them to hold off while he was dealing with us. Guess you can't multitask? To top it off, he kept bringing down his mask during a pandemic. Mmm Covid germs. We took our $650 business elsewhere. Thanks but no thanks, Barry! Wish you and the team here the best of luck. Store is tucked away in corner of the shopping complex. The parking ordeal can be hectic due to the poor planning of the parking lot. Van's has been and still will be my preferred golf shop for majority of my golf hobby needs. Majority of the guys that work there are cool and will get you what you need. read more

I have come in here to buy many gifts for the men in my family because we have quite a few golf lovers! The staff working are normally pretty helpful (i've had some cranky ones) but are knowledgeable about the game and all that goes along with it. This is super helpful because I know very little about golf so getting advice on what to buy is exactly what I need when coming here! You can find some great sales as well! This may just be the greatest customer service I have ever received in any retail store, EVER!!!! Robert is who I have been working with as well as Ted, the GM. Both gents are stellar in their golf knowledge as well as their customer support and customer service. I tried a pair of new Puma men's golf shoes, wore them at the driving range once, they felt a bit too big. Without any questions, Robert returned them for the correct size that same day, immediately after the driving range. These guys are beyond knowlegible and really know their S*%@!!!! Well I must say that their customer service is horrible.. I just now bought a driver and the asshole big man there I don't know his name but he is a really big jerk.. I wouldn't go to this location there stores really small they recently changed there layout and it's completely horrible you can't walk.. it smells in there bad and they don't even wear masks.. as I was checking out he was cleaning the register and he swept the dust in my eye purposely... and I told him Is that how you treat customers by sweeping dust Towards them??... Overall I've got mixed emotions about it..... This is where I purchased my first clubs, putter and golf bag. Colton was working with me and they guy was awesome; full of knowledge, patient, and articulate. The guy worked his a$$ off seriously. I came to frequent this place regularly. Well Colton moved on-you know the saying poop flows down hill. The customer service dropped; you might not be acknowledged walking in the store let alone the thought of being approached with a welcoming smile and a handshake. The dudes act like old tour pros who want the fame and glory: they are smug and pompous. It really turns my stomach. The place is clean but its small and packed like a constipated small intestine. You will bump into stuff or people, no if ands or butts about it folks. Van's is fair on pricing and if you haggle a bit they will budge on prices excluding ping and titleist ( those two "ping and titleist" are like 12 year old bullies who failed for three years, you go down on their prices and they'll whip ya a&&). The parking lot is small and used by multiple establishments, there are two reserved parking spaces for Van's shoppers. read more

I've waited a week to write this to see if the manager was going to give me the call back he said he was, but no dice. First time writing a review so you know it's bad. Fact pattern: Went in to the store and purchased a club that I had them reshaft and regripp two other clubs. Brought in a brand new Scotty Cameron to have them lengthen and regrip. Paid for the 275 dollars worth of clubs and work and returned two days later to pick up the clubs. Two had been regripped improperly and the putter had its first and only nick right on the top line of the putter. I leave the store dissatisfied, but such is life. 30 minutes later I get a call from the manager of the store. I figure its about the bad service so I explain, but that's not the reason for his call. He then accuses me of leaving the store without paying. Again, not asking if I did, but telling me I didn't pay. I asked him if he allows customer to take clubs off the rack, alter them, and leave without paying. A little confused he says yes. I ask if he has checked his records to see if I paid. He says no. I tell him I paid and I don't know what else he wants from me. He said he would check and give me a call back. Again, no call back. Bottom line is I'm fine getting bad service somewhere, it happens. But to get bad service and then accuse a customer of stealing is unacceptable. To be so lazy that you can't even check before calling about stealing from your store is a joke. The only reason this store has survived is there isn't another golf shop anywhere close. They don't have any pride in their work or customer service. Spend your dollars at more deserving place. read more

I have been to this store multiple times and they are always friendly and VERY attentive. Context: I have not played golf in 15 years and used to play a lot. I went in to have my Ping's refit - No charge. I worked with Kirk and after a quick tip was crushing it again. He gave me the new Lie angle for my clubs, fit me for a new Hybrid and even carried my clubs to the front of the store while I shopped for a couple of small items. SERIOUSLY!!!!!! I would recommend this place to anyone. I won't be going anyplace else. You guys Rock and your prices are inline with everyone else. read more

I'm not a golf connoisseur and a very new golfer at that, but after a recent visit to Van's, I meow know where to turn when I need to find some golfing essentials. Van's is an intimate shop located off of 32nd and Camelback and not very large in size, however, they pack in a whole lot of merchandise! During my visit, I saw racks of golf shoes, rows of golf bags and golfing knick knacks galore. They even have a virtual driving range for golf lessons! The staff was friendly and helpful and it's obvious that they know their product and the sport. The store is tucked back in a small shopping center, so it wasn't very crowded when I went which means it's perfect for some one-on-one attention! This is a great store to visit if you're looking for a good gift for a golfer because they have items that range in price. They have everything from golf books and gloves, to full golf sets and golf bags. I especially enjoyed the amount of UA Wildcat gear they carry! They also carry items from "the other school," but that's not worth mentioning because it's all about BEARING DOWN! read more

Let me start off by saying I love the vans metro location, but honestly this one is not up to par. I walked into the store today with full intent of purchase and was ignored for over 40 minutes while I browsed. I feel it was because I look young and older seasoned, more rich looking customers were coming in. I was skipped over at least 3 times and never even greeted or asked if I want help. The store is crammed and not well organized and the staff seemed pushy to the customers they were talking to. Eventually I walked out, and that hurts being the avid golfer I am. I will stick to the Vans Metrocenter location from now on and suggest it to other Yelpers. They did not stock the Club I was looking for but some assistance would have went a long way. I am on the younger side, and purchase all my golf stuff. So finding good deals on golf stuff is the best feeling. Every time I have been here I have walked away with a big smile after finding a good deal on a nice club. Yes they are used but never once have I found a problem with them. The first club I ever bought from them was the new sim2 driver and after meeting Barry. He quickly fitted me up with the loft and shaft I needed for my ball flight. Ever since then I have gone back countless times for new stuff and have always had help from Barry and the other guys. Everyone is super nice and it's a smaller store so more on the personal side which I like. Not like the giant pga superstore (no hate). read more

They may not have the biggest selection of clubs here, but they get a high rating from me because of how quick they regrip clubs. The store is always pretty slow when I go in and they seem to be dying to do anything so it's the perfect place if you want your clubs regripped in a hurry. They did a whole set of irons within a couple hours and if you just have a club or two, and they aren't doing anything, they'll take care of it right then. Good prices too. Like I said, they don't have a massive selection of clubs, but what they do have is good. I sometimes lustfully browse the irons and they always seem to have several sets on sale for a good price. They have a good selection of shoes, gloves, hats, etc too. I'm not sure what other club repair work they do there, but I noticed that the area they have is pretty small so I don't know if it's much more than regripping. read more

Great selection of shoes and always some good deals going on balls, clubs, clothes. And, hey, while they are re-gripping your 5 wood, you can always check out a new putter, roll a few putts, and talk a little golf. Not the worst way to spend part of your day. These guys are great. Great shop with friendly staff. Some people come in to just chat and check out the goods. Reminds me of going to a barbershop sometimes with all the chatter. Very attentive staff. Avoid if you didn't buy your clubs from them. I purchased two fairway woods from Amazon (from Hurricane golf... a Callaway certified dealer) and took the new fairway woods to Van's to have them regripped. They did a very fast, very good job on the regrip. The reason for the one star? The manager (I assume: guy with gray hair and a pooch in his belly) asked where I bought them. I told him and he asked how much. I told him what a great deal I got and he then proceeds to go on and on about how "they're fakes." About how "you can't be sure about what you buy on the internets." I tell him it was "from a certified Callaway dealer." He continues to go on and on about how "I wasted my money." Pro tip: 1. If you are so bitter about people getting great deals on the web, maybe you should consider offering deals too. Instead of going so far over the msrp that you can't sell socks. 2. You have lost a customer for life. I know it's only regrips. But $120 a year from me is better than nothing. 3. Learn to be a humble, decent business owner/manager. And be happy when someone gets a good deal... even if it wasn't from your store. 4. And if you are the manager, you should be fired and the young employee standing to your left should be told that is the worst way to treat a customer. read more

Really like this location. Great selection of used clubs. Bought a few grips, and used wedge from here which I cannot believe I found in the used bin to match my set. Last time in had them re-grip a club for only a couple bucks. Guys are real laid back back here....I have a suggestion for people say they were ignored when in the store, If you need help, ask for it! I pop in here all the time, and I appreciate them not breathing down your back when you come in the door. Plus they have a simulator you can use for pretty much any club they have. Great place friendly educated staff with a lot of experience with golf clubs and repairs. I see the only negative comments are by people who like to complain about the staff. Personally I like to look around and if I need help I will go to them and ask for it. I don't like to be hounded and followed around. It is a small store with lots of equipment. They have always been respectful and are really quick in getting special orders. They excel at customizing my clubs especially when getting lie and lofts adjusted. Walked in on Tuesday afternoon and was the only customer in the store. There were four male employees near the front counter and none of them greeted me. I walked over to the shoe area and still no one came over to say hi. I then walked over to the putting area and began looking at putters, as I need a new one with a tournament coming up that I am playing in on Saturday. I spent several minutes in that area and no one approached me. I then wandered over to the apparel section, browsed through the racks, tried on three or four hats, and still no one came over. Three of the four men even walked past me into the back room and did not acknowledge my presence. The one man was still up at the front, so I walked up and stated, "wow, a single woman in a golf store and no one can manage to greet me?" He replied, "oh, you were over in the apparel area." I replied, "not good." Shaking my head, I exited the store and he said "have a nice day." Wow. read more

Expect a dismissive staff and a side of attitude at this shop. Having played this game for a LONG time, and spent a fortune while at it, I've come to expect attitude in some golf settings - unfortunate part of golf history/culture. Definitely not universal, but certainly applies to this shop. If you are new to the game, expect on occasion to be treated like cattle (charitably speaking). The following are some exceptions: you are playing top-flight courses, prepared to spend $$$$ or visibly filthy rich, a regular/member, etc. I had never visited VAN's Camelback previously and merely needed an inexpensive repair. My fault - get what you pay for. I would have left ONE STAR, but Mr. Congeniality got the job done, albeit begrudgingly while carrying out what he apparently believes is an important part of golf tradition. read more
