I started coming to Varda at the tail end of 2023. I'd just moved to the SGV when one of my housemates had come home with a big bag of weed and poetry to lay down about Rustin's service because my friend was that charmed by his care and knowledge that had our whole household blitzed out of our minds that night [Positive, always with that guy]. As my life has gravitated closer into the area through my work and studies in academia, research, and natural science niches, Varda has become a household staple and a place I've looked forward to stepping into across my day-to-day. Now, it's not at all difficult finding high quality product in Los Angeles for more affordable prices. I'm originally from a place where cannabis was very violently criminalized, so in terms of accessibility, it's great having an abundance of local options. What's kept me coming back to Varda as a choice though is an experience that has complimented my lifestyle, and that is entirely a result of the staff and the care they pour into their craft. If you ever have the fortune of working with them, Rustin and Aliyah alone are worth the trip over. For myself, my friends, and my colleagues that have passed through, both of them are incredibly thorough in terms of working to understand what their clients are looking for. Whether you're trying to slip in and out or looking to learn more about the products that are right for you, both of them are great for accommodating those details through whatever experience, abstractness, or specificity you come in with. Both of them have helped me find products that consistently meet my needs and preferences- be it celebrating my joys, releasing my grief, encouraging my introspection and creativity, managing chronic pain, relieving overstimulation, or just softening me up through the hostility of late-stage capitalism. :P They're well-versed in the science and industry behind the products as well as navigating details to match each person's budget and preferences. Aside from those two, Jordan, Amy, Shane, and the tall bearded guy with the golden doodle whose name is slipping me have also been a part of the dispensary's charming formula that keeps me enthusiastic to return to an environment where I know I'll be met with care, listening ears, and good company. The downside is that since the change of ownership, the store has lost its open-concept design (along with many beloved staff members) that once allowed customers to browse at their unique pace without the pressure of a single-file line. This set-up was a really great experience that I immediately missed as I typically visit at the end of a work or school week when I'm seeking mellowness and rest. Having that open-concept allowed me to take my time learning more about the store's products as I could leisurely sift through the shelves and discuss with the budtenders. In a city filled with botanic gardens, museums, libraries, and walkable charm, it was a really nice compliment to the local vibe. Through growing pains like these though, the staff continues to be the draw as they've continued to work to understand how to meet customers where they're at despite the high traffic flow. Check 'em out if you're ever in the area! It's a short walk away from the Sierra Madre Metro rail and right off of Colorado. When this store was owned by Gramlin, the prices were the lowest in town. Now STIIIZY owns it and the prices reflect jt. The workers are friendly, but there's one issue. Don't bother using Online ordering ahead. I have ordered ahead about 4-5x now and not ONCE have they been able to find my order in the system or had it ready, even an hour later. read more

I was running errands and had my kids with me and was taking a shot in the dark that I could inform the staff of what I would like to purchase and could give them cash to execute my transaction and I would wait outside. I was prepared for this to maybe not be an option, but I hoped they could offer me service or let me know of a delivery service I could use. Instead of even speaking to me the doorman just told me to wait, he helped multiple other customers who arrived after I did, and then an officious manager appeared and 86ed me, which I understood she needed to do to follow the law. However, she did not need to be unfriendly, dismissive, and utterly disinterested in helping me at all. They clearly don't care about getting new customers nor would I ever want to give those mean people a penny. Your money is better spent literally anywhere else. read more

I've been a long time customer of Varda since its inception. I visited the spot after it was recently bought out by I assume is Stiizy. Let me tell you the customer service is absolute DOGSHIT! The security guard who before new management was friendly and would strike up a convo now does even say hi or acknowledge your existence. I walked in and the person working immediately ask me what I'm looking for which was edibles she pointed out her recommendations in a rushed sarcastic fashion, I asked how much they were and she pointed at the price annoyed. I started to look at the flower section and she told me you don't need to look there it's all flower there aren't edibles with an irritated look, I just looked at her and continued to look at the flower section. They use to be helpful and easy to talk to which is primarily why is use to go there. I WILL NEVER EVER GO HERE EVER AGAIN! IT'S IS NOT THE PLACE IT USE TO BE. read more

Way over priced and rude staff. I decided to be curious and see how this place was holding up. Was told it is now called STIIZY. I saw a product being sold for 100 dollars that other dispensaries sell for 40. A lot of other products are way WAY WAY overpriced. After I mentioned that the girl turned away. Didnt even acknowledge me after that anymore so I walked out one last time. I wont be back. Varda USED to be a good spot but like so many things those days are over. I am going to keep going to Cornerstone in Eagle Rock- they have much better selections better prices and much better customer service. read more

It sucks to have to leave this review. As of the last month, I would say, December, into January, something is going on with the store. I don't know if they're transitioning from a Varda to a Stizzy store, but several times I've gone in and they don't have any products other than Stizzy. Tonight I placed an order online for pick up, and went in, for them to tell me that nothing on the website as far as orders is working. That Varda basically online is no more. I asked them specifically if they were changing brands and the lady said no, but they have absolutely nothing in there but Stizzy brand. Very disappointing for customers who are loyal that their products are so inconsistent. Tonight was the first night that I went in and felt like customer service was lacking. I've been coming to this dispensary for about 2 years now. It's not always my go to but if I'm in the area I'll pull up. They have a wide selection of products for every category. The store is nicely presented and has an "open store " layout where you can shop around freely. I really like that aspect. However something I noticed the past couple months I've been going is that the security guards are almost always in a bad mood. They don't greet you first and act in a way that makes you feel not welcome. And it's been with different security guards every time. I'm not sure why the security acts like that because the staff inside that actually sell the product are really cool and have personality. One of the bud tenders already knows me and always makes me feel welcome. The security guards are the complete opposite. I get that they have to keep the store safe but it also doesn't mean that they get to treat customers in a rude way. The little things like that will make a customer not want to come back. Other than that, everything else is really good, they almost always have daily deals so it's worth it to come check it out. I do think they should have a talk with their security about how they can address this. read more

I was a repeat customer who enjoyed coming here and the prices. I never had any issues. Recently, when I showed up and gave them my ID, I was informed that I was "banned". No reason was given for why I was banned despite me asking why, I was just told the computer system showed me as banned with no reason cited. I left the establishment and emailed them to no avail. Again, I never had any issues, confrontations, etc. I came approximately once a month, exchanged pleasantries with the staff, paid, and left. I cannot think of any possible reason for this ban and am disappointed that none was provided, since I was a loyal customer and this location is close to my home. read more

We've only been going here for a year. At first, we noticed they didn't have a ton of inventory, but we found edibles that we liked so it wasn't a problem. But the last few times they been out of the items we typically purchase and this last time they only had one type of edible. Just checked their website, and they only have four items. That's ridiculous! Unfortunately it's just not worth coming here any longer and we're forced to go somewhere else with reliable inventory. This dispensary used to be one of my favorites, but now seems to have become the Rite Aid of weed stores, in that the shelves are mostly empty. They offer a slim selection of very commercially grown/produced flower, edibles, and a couple of concentrates. Also most of the brands they offer were found to have high levels of chemicals associated with fertilizers and pesticides. Been going here for a long time now. Decided to buy a rechargeable Dabwoods vape. Came fully charged and worked great until the charge ran out about a week later and I'm unable to recharge it. I tried three different cords and still nothing. Called to let Varda know and they said they can't do anything about it because it was past their 3-day return policy. But there was no way I could know the battery wasn't going to re charge and it didn't run out until a week after buying it. All I want is an exchanged battery and they won't do that for some reason. Spoke to a supervisor, that didn't help. Bad customer service. It's a shame cause I really liked this place until this happened. read more

I've been coming to Varda since it first opened a few years back. The retail space has always been good, but has progressively gotten better with time. It went from bare walls with a few glass center displays to a well thought out shaoppable retail space. The customer service is great from the moment you check in to point you check out. Budtenders are always willing to recommend products or answer any questions you might have. The shop carries all products you'd expect to see, flower, edibles, various pens/toppers, and CBD products. My fiancé appreciates the wide selection of edibles and I the flower. Prices are always reasonable and product is consistently good. Point system is great, although kinda hard to understand. Overall, Varda is by far one of the best dispensaries I've ever been to and I'm sue you won't be disappointed! read more

Check all your products to ensure they work. Easy to get in. Only took a couple minutes. Once I entered the shop I was greeted by security. It was very clean and neat with easy to read menu and deals. Once I asked they were very helpful. Like most shops the prices can be high but the wide selection of brands and products give you a wider range of prices. Good for those on a budget. The reason for my 2 star rating is because I bought a disposable vape and it didn't work at all. Even though it had not been used I could not return or exchange it. I bought it Tuesday, opened it on Friday (found out it didn't work) called in Saturday to ask about their policy and they said no. Visited them today in a pinch. I usually stock up when in Oxnard to avoid the excessively high taxes. I arrived mid-afternoon and my first thought was how WONDERFUL the parking situation was. Parking security was cordial and very polite. Entering was quick and easy. Presented ID and I'm in. First impression when I went in was that it was spacious and CLEAN looking. I was greeted with smiles and was able to go to the counter right away. Henry assisted me with my purchase and I was immensely impressed by his glowing personality. I explained my needs and he made a couple suggestions. I trusted him and purchased both products. Just tried the elderberry gummies and love them. The ONLY drawback to this place (although no fault of theirs) is the damned tax. Oh my goodness!! I was given a first-timer 30% discount on one of the products. My products totaled $29. Once the discount was applied and then the tax, I ended up paying just under $40 for my two products. It's the sticker shock for me!!! Again, this is why I stock up at my spot in Oxnard. They charge NO tax at all there. Makes it worth the gas. Especially when a few of us ride up there together. (Review of that spot coming soon.)
