False Menu Pricing.. The chicken flautas online say $9.99 and I got two orders=$20, but instead was charged $29 for both of them. I also got a horchata for $5, delivery fee is $3. It should've been around 29 bucks, I genuinely believe they squeezed me out of more money once I let them know how much I had in total cause I needed change. Overall, very deceiving. They let me know ahead of time on the phone the delivery person will give me change. I asked for change to the delivery person and they took my $40. I trusted they would give me back change and instead they went to explain how it all added up.. I trusted it again. Upon realizing the price of chicken flautas again to myself, I noticed the total was off after giving away my $40. I feel like I was used. If the menu is not updated, update the menu. This is seriously disappointing to see dishonesty coming from my own people, our culture revolves around honor, not this. read more

Sometimes the best food can be found in dives in what can be pretty dicey places. Vargas is among them. My son loves this place and he frequented Vargas with band mates when they rehearsed nearby a few years ago. Since my son raved about the place I've been wanting to check it out. So, we went yesterday. We each ordered a chicken Gordita, I ordered a chicken chimichanga and my son ordered the (I think) chicken and egg chilaquile. The Gordita's contained diced chicken, tomato's, lettuce and crema fresca between two fried tortillas. The chimichanga was loaded with chicken, rice and veggies. It was huge and delicious! How do I describe my son's enormous dish? A loaded plate of tortillas, sauce, onions, hot peppers, chicken, etc etc etc. topped with TWO fried eggs! I sampled it and was mighty impressed. I even enjoyed Jarrito's pop for the first time. Tasty and made with cane sugar. I believe not too many gringo's like my son and I frequent Vargas. But they should despite the simple dive interior and us not speaking much Spanish. We're already talking about coming back for authentic Mexican cuisine! You order at the counter and they deliver to the table. Four stars only for length of time it took between order and delivery. read more

Birria tacos were amazing!! Filled with tons of meat, perfect crisp and the soup with it was to die for. I live right next door and I will be eating here a lot more! Prices were good 4 tacos $18 very hefty, very filling. Wonderful staff food was fast and fresh and their horchata was so good! Place really took me back to my grandmas kitchen really homey for the Hispanic culture. Real raw and athletic. read more

If you are looking for a yummy catering place this it it. My boss used them for a Thankful Thursday event at work. They showed up on time and had the food ready in no time. The setup was awesome with tacos and fajitas to choose from. The tacos I tried them all were delicious especially the chicken. They also had pork and steak which were fork tender. The hot sauce was hoo boy a little too hot for my palate but still delicious. I can't wait to try this place again at their restaurant. read more

Always hype for a Vargas run. They got these salsa trays that are crazy tasty but the only trouble is that everything on the menu that I've tried is so good that nothing really needs the salsas. The food is so fresh and the gallo hit pretty hard. I wish I could buy it by the jars. The nacho mix are an enormous portion. My son really enjoyed his tacos as well as some of my nachos. Great food. I played it safe with a quesadilla and was really impressed not just by the great flavor but also the fact that the chef/owner took the time to plate everything really nicely. He obviously wants you to enjoy your meal. They started us off with a really interesting creamy salsa too. I fully admit if not for the positive yelp reviews I probably wouldn't have given it a try just based on outward appearances, but I highly recommend you look past the cosmetic stuff and head inside for an excellent meal with really friendly service. Whoever is working there today the OWNER of Vargas please make do for the lack manners your employees have. We've ordered from here twice and it's been great both times. There were issues, but nothing that makes it not worth going back again and again. The first time, we ordered a kid's meal quesadilla, 3 tacos, tamale, 2 tortas and burrito for family members. The kid's meal didn't have the fries it was supposed to come with, but my daughter LOVED the quesadilla. The tortas were huge sandwiches, served on a bakery roll that I imagine were baked in-house. The marinated pork torta was split between two people and they were satisfied. The beef tongue torta could've used some hot sauce, but the tamale had hot sauce that was used on the torta, so it worked. The tacos (marinated pork, chicken and chorizo) and burrito (steak) were excellent but could have used some sour cream. The tamale was very tasty, but the verde sauce was extremely hot. I'd probably go for the mole sauce in the future. The other issue with this order was they forgot the tamale. I went back to get it and the chef/owner was really upset that he had forgotten it; we got free chips (also fresh and homemade) for the inconvenience. The second order was a carne asada platter and a chicken burrito, and 3 desserts from their bakery. The chicken burrito again needed sour cream, but it had avocado, which provided some creaminess. The carne asada platter came with rice and beans. tortillas, and grilled onions and an unusual green vegetable (?) that my husband believes may be some kind of cactus. The platter was very good with tender beef and tasty veggies, minus the cactus-like veggie, which was kind of bitter. The 3 desserts were recommended to me by the people in the restaurant (the chef, the delivery driver's daughter and husband). I wish I knew the names, but they were all fantastic. One was a fruit filled pastry, one was a 3 flavored cookie (chocolate, strawberry and vanilla) and the other was a sweet roll. The chef and the employees are super friendly and helpful. The delivery was quick and they corrected their mistakes immediately., There was a bit of a language barrier over the phone, but in person, the ordering was much easier. This place is very clean and they make your order as you wait. With that being said, make sure you call ahead, we were waiting for our food for 30+ mins. But, it was TOTALLY worth it. If you forget to call ahead (or if you call and they can't understand you, and you have to go into the restaurant make sure you get the chips and salsa while you wait). Everything we ordered was completely fresh. I got a taco salad and it was so fresh and delicious and HUGE (I couldn't eat it all)!! I got all white meat chicken on it and it came with lettuce, pico de gallo, fresh pinto beans (not from a can), mexican rice, slices of fresh avocado and a side of hot sauce in a fried taco shell. Decided to stop in today and check to see if they had tacos de lengua and, sure enough, they did. I also asked for nopales and they had that too! No champagne cola or ginger beer though, which was a slight bummer. Offered me horchata instead buuuuut....I don't trust drinking that with tacos. Anyway, the food was superbly crafted and presented and the staff seemed really nice. I looked and ordered as if I knew Spanish but I clearly didn't, so we had a nice laugh about that. I also had a spicy chicken tamale that was really good but in all honesty it was my first time having a tamale so I had nothing to compare it to.
