I literally came here right after I landed at BWI. As soon as I touched down I told my dad to floor it to La food Marketa So, I've noticed a huge trend. Baltimore is coming in hot with the food towers. So I had to try the taco tower here at La Food Marketa. (Similar to the Italian one I had last time I was In Maryland at Franks) I called ahead and asked if they serve it everyday or if they need a heads up (some places do) but this place said, nope. They serve it all the time and don't need a heads up. So that's a plus. This place also does take reservations. I did make one since it was my first time here and didn't know how crowded it gets. Online it does say they are recommended, but not required. It was busy at 6:30 on a Saturday They are located in a private parking lot with a few other places. They do have a very nice outdoor seating area, and it does say online they are dog friendly. We did pick to sit inside. We got sat at a bigger table once they found out we were getting the taco tower Mackenzie, was taking care of us, she was absolutely amazing. It was really packed, and yet Makenzie still refilled our waters and brought out more chips and salsa (warning, rookie mistake. We filled up on chips and salsa before the taco tower came out) The chips were delicious. They were so crispy and fresh. Also, loved their salsa. Now for the taco tower details. It feeds 4-6- and it was just my dad and I And it comes with- CHOICE OF ANY 3 TACOS- (4 of each taco and they had a good amount to pick from) CHIPS & QUESO LAYERED TACO DIP STREET CORN PAN DE QUESO BUFFALO CHICKEN TAQUITOS RICE & BEANS This food tower will run you 125 dollars We also asked if instead of picking 3 different tacos if we could double the birria tacos. Which we were able to and then we got a hard shell taco with short rib Mackenzie was great at making suggestions. She mentioned that their -BROCCOLI BIRRIA TACOS which were, cheesy corn tortillas, broccoli, onion, cilantro, smoky vegetable broth. Were really popular. (Which is great if you're vegetarian) (You can also add a pitcher of margaritas for a good deal) I knew I wanted the taco tower, but this place has a good sized menu to please anyone, tons of cocktails(even mocktails) and Their dessert menu is also pretty big. (Also a good amount of salads here if you're trying to be good / diet restrictions) I did end up having a couple mojitos since it was a cheat day. The only hiccup was, my dad ordered a black cherry mojito and they brought out a blackberry one by accident. They actually let us keep the blackberry one as well no charge. Upon our entrance we were politely welcomed into the restaurant. The crunchy short rib and fish tacos were top notch! Along with the rice and beans! All ingredients were fresh and tasted Amazing! The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars, is because the tres leche cake was horrible. I'm not sure if it should be on the menu. When we were asked how did we like the cake, we informed the waiter that we were unhappy with it. The waiter asked if we wanted anything else, we said no, but he did not offer to take it off our bill. It was $14 and it was the smallest and worst tres leche cake I've ever tasted. The food here is consistently good. Recently had the pork belly poke bowl- pork was crispy and delicious. The shrimp with garlic sauce was even better- we could have drank that sauce. Went here for a retirement lunch for my colleague. I have always wanted to try this place since I have heard so many good things. The server never told us our name but he was attentive. I ordered the confetti bowl since it was Ash Wednesday and observing. It was good. My only complaint is the black beans were too crispy. I personally like mine on the softer side. Also, add more black beans and less rice. The rice filled me up quickly. My colleagues enjoyed their meals. Would love to come back when its a non- work related event. We also were able yo bring our own desserts and our server was kind enough to give us a box for the extra desserts. read more

Figured it was time for an updated review. Came here with my family to celebrate my brother's birthday. He had his heart set on the taco tower and the birthday boy gets what he wants. For our taco selection, we went with a double order of the short rib tacos and an order of birria tacos. The tower says it feeds 2-4, but there were 5 of us and we still had tons of leftovers. To be fair, we may have gone a little too hard on the chips and queso while we waited. Everything on the tower was phenomenal, except the buffalo chicken taquitos as they were a bit dry. But the house-made hot sauce totally saved them. Service was awesome as always. This place is still one of my favorite spots and the meal had me even more excited to have Hoopla cater my wedding. :-) read more

We came to celebrate our 32nd anniversary. I have been here once before and I don't know why I haven't been back more often. The food is fresh, exciting and so dag gone delicious. The staff is personable and gracious and it feels like family here. I do not eat meat and there are so many options for me. OMG nothing but great things to say. Grab a friend or two and rush on over. We had a reserve for 5 however it took 25 minutes after 5 to be seated. I ordered beef tacos and they were bomb. It came with rice and some sauce that was also very good. We Sat outside on a nice Sat night. Service was attentive and friendly. We were big fans of the traditional margarita with espolon tequila. We are light . Chips, salsa and guac. The calamari came out crispy with peppers on top and 2 dipping sauces. Chimichuri and smoky aoli. Had a good time yesterday with fellow Yelpers for Taco Tuesday. Was my first time, but it won't be my last! A few of us sat at the bar initially. We were able to partake in happy hour right before it ended at 7. I got a traditional frozen margarita. It was good. We were offered chips and salsa by Whitney who was great! The salsa looked like ketchup but actually tasted better than it looked. We had a reservation but it took awhile to get us all seated. The place was packed! Our server, Mike was great - very attentive and helpful. The "smokey spicy figgy" cocktail was really good. It has mezcal and I appreciate that smokey taste. All of us ordered tacos. Since it was Taco Tuesday, all taco entrees were $15. I opted for the birria tacos which comes with pork but I asked to sub it for beef, and they obliged. I thought it was just ok. Can do the chefs counter to watch the kitchen, dine outside in their spacious patio area, or hit the bar for an amazing happy hour! I had quick and kind service from the young gentleman who took my order for a slice of key lime pie. The interior was modern and quiet but empty because the patrons were outside enjoying the weather. The key lime pie was cold and delicious but a bit on the pricey side for a relatively small, single slice. I will definitely be returning but not for the key lime pie. read more

I found this restaurant to be ok. The ambiance is more like a place I'd go for lunch and the prices are waaay more than I think they should be. The food I got was decent, but I didn't get anything fancy to be honest. I had the Mexican corn ribs (or something named along those lines) and they were delicious! In fact, that was the first time I'd ever tried that dish and I'm a forever fan. A friend got the tater tot nachos and as you can imagine they were Gloria's (just my opinion), but why would anything think they'd need good anyways (I'd probably think they were gross anywhere I went). I would give them another try but bc the prices are so steep I probably won't go there again (unless someone else is buying). Good place ! nice service, average food, moderately flavorful. We stopped by for dinner tonight. The guacamole was nice and the chips were delicious and crispy. My favorite dish was the blistered sugar, peas, lightly parboiled, then slightly blackened fresh and crisp. They were delicious! We also had deep fried southwestern empanadas that were nice little starchy a little bland. We had a delicious taco made of broccoli and cheese. The fish tacos started out nice with large chunks of deep-fried fish, but there was too much creamy tartar sauce that grounded out the other interesting flavor flavors. I was a bit frozen as I did not know what to order off the large menu, but I'm glad I ended up with the blackened fish burrito bowl. Decided to stop here after a recent Ortho appointment for lunch. The staff was very accommodating to seat us close to the door because I was recently given crutches and I honestly was trying to adjust. The restaurant was not busy so our male waiter was very attentive to us. He recommended the corn ribs which was the star of the meal selection. The food came out pretty quickly and everything was on point. The outdoor ramp was excellent for me to slowly adjust to entering and exiting the building on crutches. I was lucky enough to attend a private party there the other day. I have always enjoyed this restaurant, but have never been there in a party setting. I was literally blown away. I have spent six decades on this earth and I can honestly say that I have never experienced that level of service at any restaurant that I can recall in my entire life. I don't think one server or restaurant employee walked past me without asking if I needed something. if there was ever a day that I felt like the Queen of England, it was that day! marketa absolutely never disappoints. they are always adding new seasonal things to their menu and keeping it fresh. there are SO many options and plenty for kids, vegetarians, picky eaters, etc. their pan de queso is superb and street cauli is always a hit. free piece of cake for bday/special occasion. big parking lot & street parking too. indoor & outdoor seating with umbrellas. it can get a bit loud inside w music so keep that in mind. our service was quick and very attentive! my only complaint is that half of the servers were not wearing any sort of apron or uniform to identify them. they looked like they were customers and some of their outfits were a bit revealing and not "work appropriate" even in a casual restaurant like this. i will always love this place and continue to come back!!! must try. read more

Stopped in for dinner because we were in the area and have had La Food Marketa on our list to try for awhile. We got the street corn ribs at the servers recommendation, they were really great! I'm not sure what I was expecting but these were awesome. We got pumpkin and prickly pear margaritas, because fall. The prickly pear was really sweet, the pumpkin had some fall spices and was the winner of the drink round. My husband got the birria tacos which he liked a lot. His only complaint was that the duo they come with was more like a beef broth/jus for a French dip, it didn't taste like it had much in the way of flavor/spices like other birria sauces he's had. They were still really tasty. I had the short rib tacos which were good. I'm not a big fan of the house salsa (it tastes like cocktail sauce to me, pls don't come for me its me, hi I'm the problem its me). Since the short rib tacos have the salsa on them the flavor of the short rib was a little overwhelmed by the salsa for me. The meat was tender and my tacos didn't fall apart (always a win) so overall they were good, but I'd probably try something else next to around. We had two kiddos under 5 with us, they each got hotdogs (huge, grilled dogs) we cut them up to make them edible for the kiddos and they were big fans. They also had shoestring fries (yum)! I love that LFM had a kids menu that our [very picky...we're working on it] kids would actually eat. We attempted to do the fluffernutter churros for dessert but they were out. We wound up electing to get churros anyway and the kitchen added marshmallow and sprinkles onto the plate which our kids loved! I am humbled. There have been only a few times in my culinary life when a magical experience of ambience, service and glorious cuisine combine to create a dining ecstasy. LFM has been on my to do list for a while now, so when their taco tower hit my instagram feed it was just the push I needed to finally stop in. I rallied my favorite girls and snagged an early evening reservation. We scored big with fantastic weather and a table on the patio. Trying to save room for the big show, we kept the starter to the comp chips and salsa and sipped on some tasty cocktails while we picked out our 3 types of tacos for the tower. Shout out to the spicy pineapple margarita. It was perfection!!! We finally settled on the birria, fish, and short rib tacos. The rest of the tower is preset with chips and queso, layered taco dip, street Corn, pan de queso, buffalo chicken taquitos and a side of rice and beans. When the tower arrived we were not disappointed. It was definitely enough for 4 easily. Each and every one of the staple items were 5 star worthy..shining stars the taquitos, street corn, and queso! The only let down unanimously for us was the tacos. The fish was fried too hard almost inedible, short rib and birria just ok/forgettable. One of the worst dining experiences ever. When we arrived half of the tables were empty, yet we were told there would be a 15 minute wait. That's restaurant speak for the kitchen is running slowly and they're staggering orders to provide good service. Once seated, it took a while for someone to take our order - a burger and tacos. It's Taco Tuesday so one would think that should make it easier. Not so. After 90 minutes and numerous apologies from the waitress, food had yet to be delivered to the table. Finally walking over to the manager to inquire about our order, he stated that they were short staffed, the kitchen was backed up, and had a problem with the printer skipping some orders. I was next expecting to hear the dog ate his homework... or at least our order. All difficult to believe since the waitress had checked with the kitchen repeatedly and was told they were working on our meals. At the two hour mark, the food finally arrived. The hamburger was hot, however the tacos were tepid at best and covered in cilantro (although the waitress was told absolutely no cilantro). The manager offered to discount our meals, and we suggested he tear up the check entirely. Both he and his kitchen staff should look for alternative work; neither belong in the restaurant business where good customer service and good food are of equal importance, and neither were found at La Food Marketa tonight. Our first couple of dining experiences here were good. Tonight, however, was a bitter one of poorly executed plates. First, the complementary chips and salsa had more humidity-addled chips than crisp ones. My wife's dinner of tacos with scallops, and my crispy fish tacos were major disappointments. My tacos with panko-breaded cod and deep fried were laden with too much ... stuff, including cabbage, crema, radishes, and what appeared to be streams of "tonkatsu" sauce usually served in Japanese dishes. They were lousy distractions. I could barely get one end of a taco into my mouth. I more or less ate two and left the third one and the accompanying gloppy rice without even thinking about taking it home. It just was ... awful. My wife previously had a great grilled scallop taco previously but tonight, like my fish tacos, her's were layered with too many distracting sliced vegetables, cheese, and whatnot. After eating Thanksgiving leftover Food for three days I was ready for something different. I wanted Mexican Food so I wanted to try this place since it's been in my Bookmarks for a long while. It's located in the nice area of Quarry Lake along with other Restaurants and shops. We arrived late afternoon so it was hardly anyone dining. We were greeted and seated. The ambiance was very nice and so was our Server Marina. She brought out Salsa and Chips which were really good. The Chips were light and crispy and Salsa fresh. We ordered several Appetizers ( see pics) they were good, only thing I would add is cheese to the Southwestern EggRoll Empanadas it was no cheese inside it and the fillings keep falling out.
