I am 3 weeks out from spinal fusion back surgury. I was concerned based on a phone call. I went today for an evaluated. The pt spent 10 minutes. Did not stay or show me exercise. The assistant told me to do a exercise and walked away. When I asked to make sure I was ok. She walked away, Thank goodness my husband was there. When I asked if somebody to stay with me she responded no as she went to another patient. I cannot walk alone, sit up alone or get in or out my car. Thus was unsafe and not ethical. I just finished my six week schedule for a (left) shoulder injury. I was in a great deal of pain when I started. Now my shoulder is pain free and I am able to do reaches which before were limiting and beyond uncomfortable. I loved going to Vargo. I was greeted by name, asked how I was doing and set up for my exercises. My PT Gabriella was the icing on the cake. She worked my shoulder, assessed my progress and knew just how much to push me to get the best strengthening benefit from my time there. Her hands and healing touch worked wonders. This would have been an OK therapy place pre-COVID, I think. They did give me some basic advice and exercises to do for my badly sprained ankle, but for those who are worried about COVID exposure it was worrisome. I stopped going because one of the therapists who worked with me told me she went to a large Thanksgiving gathering with multiple families. I went 3 times before this and was worried about how crowded it was but also wanted the therapy. I'm going to employ the techniques I learned there to try to strengthen my ankle but I would not go there again until after COVID has passed. read more

I've spent the last year going to Vargo Physical Therapy to rehabilitate my left shoulder. My diagnosis was a rotator cuff tear, which in most cases require surgery. I could have had surgery which in some cases lead to other complications however, I chose to take the tougher route which was to try to rehabilitate the shoulder naturally without being cut open by a surgeon. So myself and Marc C. the Head PT at Vargo developed a plan in which we were able to first: 1. Remove the pain. 2. Free up restrictions of movement from my shoulder. 3. Finally now strength train, to put my left shoulder back in balance with my dominant right shoulder. Through this three-step process we were able to rehabilitate my shoulder throughly and completely. They cannot verify insurance unless you have an appointment yet they don't have appointments for another month. It makes absolutely no sense. do you not want business? Yet they took my car accident case years ago made plenty of money but with health insurance, they give you a hard time? Not to mention they want you to call around once they have an appointment to find out if you are covered and how much the co-pay is. Why don't I do all they work for you and pay you! Rediculous. Having been to a few other Physical Therapy facilities, I have found that Vargo is by far the best one out there. The facility itself is clean, bright, updated, and spacious. But that's just a small part of why I like Vargo physical therapy. The main reason that Vargo has always been my number one choice is the people who work there. Starting with the Clinical Director, Marc, to the other amazing PTs (Joyce, Emily and Andy), to the upbeat and positive aides, to Olivia and Roxanna, the office staff. I witness, time after time, entire staff consistently being kind, positive, empathetic, compassionate, and professional to every single patient who walks into the facility. They are gracious, they are accommodating, and they are honest about what can be done about your own situation. Marc chooses staff who will meet Vargo's high standard of care. I know this sounds corny, but when you walk in there it's like the old TV show Cheers, where "Everybody knows you're name." Thanks Vargo for always making me feel like family. I have had both of my knees replaced and was not able to use the same physical therapist after my recent back surgery. I was sent to Vargo PT and it turned out to be a wonderful experience. The facility is kept very clean. Everyone that works there is professional and polite. There is room for a lot more patients to be seen at one time than I was used to, but that works out very well. There are enough PT assistants assigned to you each session to help you and keep track of the exercises required of you and anyone on the floor will make themselves available to help you. The equipment is kept in good and clean repair as well. My Physical Therapist Gabby was amazing. Gabby was clear in her instructions to me, her innate kindness and gentleness shined through, and she was set on helping me to heal and continue to be healthy. Thank you also to Oscar, Chezka, Lindsey, Daron and John for all your assistance. I did not get the names of the women who ran the front desk, but each woman was very professional, efficient and friendly. So many good Drs. have terrible front office staffs, but not Vargo!!! Everyone at Vargo that works with you makes an effort to learn your name, watch you do your exercises so that you are doing them well, and they will offer suggestions for improvement as well as encouragement. If you are looking for a very private session, you really will not find that anywhere. If you want to get well, then go to Vargo. read more

Vargo Physical Therapy in Burbank is simply the BEST. I know. I've been to many over the years, and this group really stands out. My first visit here was 2 years ago when I had my first knee replaced. Dr. Marc Comrie & his kind, capable, respectful group took excellent care of my PT needs. They got me back to useful walking while I waited for my second knee to be fixed. It's now 2 years after that first experience and I am post-surgery on my 2nd knee. I am happy to report the same wonderful people are here to work me over and work me out, including Dr. Marc. With both knees fixed, my PT is proceeding beautifully - and faster. In this pleasant manageable space, with talented practitioners and no drill sergeants, I am working my way back to greater strength, balance and flexibility. I used to wonder if I could ever fully recover and get back to the activities that I love. Now, I can say Yes because with such great care, this is already happening! Went to Vargo back in 2018 for a back injury. Definitely the lowest quality PT place I've ever been to. The people working there are nice and Amanda herself seemed to be a good PT but their operation is clearly geared towards maximum profit and have turned it into a "PT" assembly line. First you come in and you will have an aide sit you down and maybe start you out with some e-stim or other passive modality (real PT is not ice, e-stim and hot packs). Then you'll see the PT for 5, maybe 10 minutes if you're lucky. Then the aide comes back and asks you if you did your exercises then walks away. The PT is usually working on 3-4 people simultaneously from what I saw. The human body is extremely complex and there is no way you can properly assess and take the time to make challenging clinical decisions in such a short time frame with multiple patient competing for your attention. I understand that is the norm with insurance based PT clinics these days, (if you want real PT and a DPT that will work with you the whole hour you have to go to a cash based PT clinic now) but they took it to the extreme, too many patients booked with each therapist simultaneously. This place might be OKAY for a mild sprain or basic post op protocol but for anything beyond that their operation just isn't built for. read more

The good: parking is plentiful front desk staff are friendly PT staff is nice I liked the people I met there. But it's a chain and run like a mill. You don't really get therapy past the first few visits - you get someone MAYBE checking in on you while you exercise yourself. A lot of places are sort of like that and don't have dedicated therapists, but the best places I've gone have me working with the same person for at least 80% of the visit and maybe someone else helps when they get called off elsewhere. I'm not describing it well, probably because I hate leaving anything other than a glowing review. But the staff seems overworked and overbooked, and while the equipment looks fine, the wiping down of stuff seemed a little cursory during COVID and the hot-pack towels smell strongly of mildew. It felt like people were just going through the motions. I've heard from a doctor that while they often have great PTs, they lose them just as often because they get stolen by places with better pay and working conditions. It sounds like a trickle-down corporate problem vs. a problem with any individual location. read more

I personally had the best experience with Eddie, Joyce, Amanda, and Marc. The moment you walk in you feel at ease. Everyone greets you. Everyone is very friendly and respectful. First time I came in I was greeted by the director really friendly and approachable gave me the formal introduction and assessed my injuries. They worked with me and really treated all of my injuries well. At my own pace and with encouragement they kept challenging me to reach my true potential. Felt like home lol But I honestly learned so much from the treatment and can now go and practice these exercises at home. I don't ever write reviews but I felt like with COVID, it's important for people to be properly informed. I got injured at the beginning of covid shut down and it took me months to convince my primary physician to approve PT. I asked my trusted friends and they suggested Vargo PT so I decided to get this location approved. THANK GOODNESS that I found this location! Since day 1, I felt very welcomed by the staff and it made this very painful process less scary and it relieved a lot of my stress as well. I went from not being able to get out of bed or off the floor to not struggling with as much pain after a few weeks. EVERYONE is great! The front desk, the interns, the assistants, the PTs. Very nice seeing friendly faces when this is pretty much the only place I leave the house for. They clearly care about everyone's well-being. They follow COVID safety guidelines by having people stay apart when patients sign in. Everyone's temperature is being checked, they have separated clean and dirty pens, and of course masks are required. When the covid numbers went up and the second closure of things started to take effect, they placed a temp check station to the side so that no one had to be near each other or be at the desk to check in. I feel that this keeps the front desk clear and at a safe distance. They have also kept their doors propped open the entire time so there's good air flow. I know people usually look for negative reviews when lookin on here, I do. But, I'm extremely satisfied with the services and I would hate for anyone to miss out on something good because of something that's out of the clinic's control. read more

As of yesterday Vargo PT was not practicing any social distancing inside! The waiting area was full and people had to wait outside. This isn't the only problem there. The therapist were good, but dealing with the front desk was difficult. The attitude from both receptionists made me want to skip PT even when needed. The quality of care was average at best. Over the past two weeks, I've been working with Gabriella, among others, and she's as professional as they come. I went to VARGO P.T. for post-surgery therapy on both hands, for carpal-tunnel release surgery, worker's comp. case. The front-desk did what they had to do to get my visits approved (no small feat dealing with W.C.!). Once I got scheduled, I was assigned to Mark. He put me through a great program of light exercises at first, gradually increasing until the strength returned to my wrists and hands. Best of all were intense massages that worked through the scar tissue. My recovery time was about 3 months on each hand, and no doubt greatly enhanced by my good fortune at Vargo. The P.T. assistants are all very friendly and helpful, and they remembered my name and routines, to make it like I was at home while working through my exercises and P.T. Can't recommend Vargo highly enough. read more

Went here after my ACL surgery. Nice staff, but very inattentive. I was losing my patience by the third visit. I was always told to do an exercise, then the person would just walk away without even checking if I was doing it correctly. Then someone else would come over and ask if I'd already done the exercise I just finished. This was repeated throughout the hour. Same drill, same exercises. I wondered sometimes why I went in when I could have just done the exercises at home. Amanda, the physical therapist there, was very nice though. I just didn't feel like I was getting the therapy I should have been getting. It was a very erratic environment. If you have a Flexible Spending Account, they won't take Vargo's receipts as proof that you actually had physical therapy done. And Vargo doesn't give you any kind of paperwork stating you went there for physical therapy. Their receipt just says Medical Services, which isn't enough. Switched to Performax Elite in Burbank and they're so much better. My co-payment is cut in half, they give itemized detailing of why you went (so no FSA issues) and one physical therapist is with you the entire time and really makes you work. Sorry Vargo, but you're one place I cannot recommend. read more

My doctor recommended this facility for post surgical rehabilitation care after undergoing ADR 3/4 earlier this summer. I am so glad he did! Not only do they use some of the most modern, innovative types of therapy, you are always offered service with a smile. Vargo has helped me more than I can possibly describe, but Marc in particular has helped me in my battle against daily severe headaches from an auto accident where I sustained a neck injury. After 9 months of pain and several injections, Marc is truly helping me find a way out of my pain, and putting me on the road to healing. Vargo was my first experience with PT and I wasn't sure what to expect. I am 3 months in and I cannot say enough about the staff and level of care I feel when i am there. Every single staff member takes the time to say hello while I am doing my exercises, will stop me to make a correction if needed or check in with me during my hour. I have worked with all of the PT's and each one knows my case, asks questions specific to my injury and gives me at least one suggestion to use in my everyday life to ease the pain site. They celebrate the small victories and aid in finding solutions when something may be difficult. The staff interacts as a team and the guidance and leadership Marc shows is present in the atmosphere. They are not the best like people think. The front desk woman was not that friendly. Returning my call was a bit rude but the therapist never called me back!! Some staff were attentive and some were not. The therapist was not following up with me or give me any exercise to do at home. I asked for more sessions but they were not make it happened. When I finally went back to my doctor I asked him about my therapist tried to contact him he said no message or call from my therapist that he noticed of. Over the years, I've been to various physical therapy places, in fact this is the third place I've ever been to in the area. I had my knee scoped in June and have been having issues with it since February of this year. Before my surgery, I tried physical therapy and in fact I went to another place locally. Looking back on it now, and comparing them to Vargo, I feel like I wasted my time. I was really hesitant to start PT again with a place that I didn't know, only to be disappointed again. I ended up asking almost everyone I know for recommendations and Vargo was suggested by three friends who had gone there. Still I was worried. I couldn't be happier with everything about Vargo! The staff that works with you are all wonderful!! Marc is absolutely fabulous!! When I first came in, he took all my information and asked me questions, and works on me every time I go. Even though I'm still in pain sometimes, he is supportive and positive, and he really cares. The other staff help you to work through the different exercises. It's an open environment, so you see everyone else, and I've talked to some really nice people. We all support each other! I feel like I've really made a lot of progress in part because I feel good about my experiences there. I can also ask questions about a certain exercise, or a certain pain I'm having.
