This location is outstanding point had a very bad injury that required surgery. I've been going here now for four months. Everyone from the receptionist when you walk in to the aids, PTs, and physicians are wonderful. People are friendly with patients and each other. You can tell that there is good camaraderie among the staff.and the physicians really care about your physical outcomes. Terrible physical therapy facility. The staff was lovely and Dr. Hov seemed knowledgeable, but they misdiagnosed me over and over again. Dr. Hov asked to see my x-ray and MRI, and when I brought it to him he then explained that he actually doesn't know how to read them. I had assumed this ahead of time, but he asked for them anyway. Afterwards he tried some other theories and eventually gave up trying to fix me. I've never heard a word from them since. read more

I have always loved this place, so when I found out I needed PT for my neck, this was the very first place I went. It is also, now, the first business I've ever walked out of. I was shocked at what happened. I went in to strengthen my neck after an injury, but when Dr. Henrietta came into the first evaluation room to go over my treatment, she started ranting about the Covid vaccine, saying I had inflammation. She asked if my doctor forced me to get it. She told me I shouldn't get boosters anymore. She told me all my other health issues are caused by the vaccine. She told me not to tell anyone what she was saying. She said that if I would have had that inflammation when I first got my vaccine, I would have had a heart attack and died. She made up some nonsense about being in the second phase of the damage done by the vaccine. Remember, I was there to strengthen my neck muscles. That's it. Unknowingly to her, I had labs to check for all of this during my last doctor's visit after I actually had covid. No inflammation markers. No markers for clots. No problems. Nothing. She's a nutjob. This is the type of scary misinformation that illegitimate doctors are pushing to confuse and scare their patients. Her license should be revoked immediately. read more

To be transparent, I booked an appointment then shortly walked right out. I had been to a previous physical therapist that my doctor had suggested, and I wasn't a fan. One of the owners here was a previous client, so I decided to give this a try. When they to told me they don't bill insurance for manual therapy, and that they'll charge me $20 out of pocket for any manual therapy, that's when I walked out. This is a large part of physical therapy, and no other place that I've ever gone has a problem billing insurance for that, and do not charge the patient out of pocket for it...since it is part of PT. read more

I hate leaving negative reviews, especially when you've had a lovely experience with many of the staff... but before you book at Back 2 Health, you should know that they charge an extra $20/visit (in addition to your insurance co-pay), if you want a physical therapist to physically work with your body at all. If you elect not to pay extra, you're just doing a very simple workout with the PT aids and then leaving. This was my first experience with PT (I broke my leg a few months ago), so at the time I didn't know whether this was normal. After more research, I can definitely say it is NOT. I just started up with another physical therapist today, and when I told them they were shocked. On the bright side, Back 2 Health is great for extreme appointment flexibility (since it's mostly with the PT aids, you can pretty much come in and do the workout whenever) , and they let you take as long as you want. My appointments were typically around 90 min, rather than getting rushed out after 45. After a few visits here I decided it wasn't for me. It's not a bad option, it's just unusual. read more

I was referred by my orthopedic doctor to Back 2 Health Therapy in Burbank. I went at least twice a week for a period of 7 months or so. I can't begin to express how grateful I am to the caring staff and Dr. Henrietta for all they did to help me restore my health from my shoulder injury from a cycling accident. My pain and limited range of motion improved significantly with their support and expertise. I think that because of this physical therapy, my orthopedic surgeon strongly discouraged me from having surgery and instead proposed a PRP (plasma replacement) procedure. There's no doubt in my mind that I was able to avoid surgery thanks to the PT work done by Dr. Henrietta and the entire staff at Back 2 Health. Special shout-out and thanks go to Jayson, Jennifer, Reese, Jason, and the entire Burbank team. They were always friendly and greeted everyone with a warm friendly smile. They really took their time with each patient and actually seemed to care about your well-being and recovery. I would strongly recommend anyone who needs physical therapy to go to this location. I had very high expectations for this place as my PCP highly recommend them, however I was disappointed. I was in a few weeks back for an evaluation and I was greeted very kindly at the front desk and went fill out my paperwork. The girl at the front, I believe her name was Melissa, explained what my copay is but then told me that I had to pay out of pocket for manual therapy? I found this pretty bizarre, their reasoning was that insurance companies don't reimburse them enough but I don't think charging the patient for this is the correct way to go about it. My evaluation with Dr. Hovsep was great and he was very kinda and knowledgeable. I schedule over the phone with a gentleman named Chris and he very kind. Overall I had a great experience with Dr. Hovsep, Melissa, Chris, and Jake (PT Aide) but unfortunately I did not come back due to my high copay (not their fault) and having to pay an extra $20 on top of them to be treated by the Physical Therapist. They gave me a print out of my exercises which I have been doing at home and it has helped tremendously. Not sure what to say here... They're decent, but my low rating is due to the fact that they're not happy with the amount they get reimbursed from insurance, so they don't include "manual therapy" in their physical therapy services. So if you need them to perform anything manual, which translates to using their hand to work on you aka what is basically "physical therapy" BECAUSE that's why you're going there, YOU have to pay cash for it. Correct me if I'm wrong, but half the point of PT is manual therapy. So ridiculous! Also - I have a crazy good PPO insurance plan and never have I ever heard of such a thing. Every other place gladly accepts my insurance and does not charge me extra. Lastly, their doctors are ok, but the PT assistants who watch u exercise are not great. I asked one what muscle the exercise will be using (so that I can focus on it) and she replied with your legs. The leg isn't a muscle... And another one told me to do an exercise I knew I wasn't supposed to do and he got annoyed that I pointed it out and said I'm mistaken and that I was supposed to do it, and in the middle of the exercise the PT noticed and stopped it (because I wasn't supposed do it.) I have been going to Back 2 Health for at least a year plus now. My first visits were for my ankle and my most recent visits are for my lower back and sciatica nerve. The doctors are all amazing! For the most part I go to Dr. Rachel and she is an absolute doll! She is an excellent doctor! She has great personality and is Super Smart and knowledgeable of my condition. Back 2 Health is a win-win from the moment you are met at the front by all the friendly receptionists to the PT assistants to every single doctor at this facility. These guys are great. I went to another physical therapy place for an initial session and was so unhappy and horrified I called my doctor immediately for another referral. He sent me here, and I'm so glad he did. 1. Very clean - I see them constantly cleaning the tables and ensuring you come into contact with clean linens 2. Very nice - the therapists are very nice 3. Very thorough - you do stretching, strengthening exercises, and then physical manipulation. It's a trifecta that works. My pain has been substantially reduced. Back2Health is the best physical therapy around. I have been to multiple physical therapy places, and none of them provide the thorough care that Back 2 Heath does. I have been going to Back2Heath for years, and they keep me mobile. All of the physical therapists I've worked with at Back 2 Health were very good at what they did, and very professional. They start you with a thorough evaluation. I was being seen for back, neck, shoulder, hip, knee, and ankle problems. They tested every each area in order to come up with a proper care plan. Next they have you do a 5-6 minute warm-up on the appropriate machine for your injury. I use the treadmill. Others use the elliptical or arm bike. While you warm up, the physical therapist makes an exercise plan for you, and goes over it with an aide. When you finish your warmup, the aide walks you through every one of your exercises/stretches. They demonstrate it, and then help you do it correctly (i.e. "Don't forget to engage your core", or repositioning your shoulders. There are also multiple physical therapists in the room, and they will say something if a patient needs correction on form. If you have any pain in any exercise that you are doing properly, they immediately report it to your physical therapist, who will do a quick re-evaluation, and change your exercises as needed. On your fist visit, you do one set of each exercise. They increase the sets each visit, until you are able to do 3 sets of each exercise. As you increase in strength, they will modify your exercises. After you've finished your exercises, which can take anywhere from 30 to 90 minutes, depending on how fast you do them, and how many breaks you need, you get treated with e-stim, ultrasound, and, if needed, ice or hot packs. That part takes about 20 minutes. On your first visit, you get "hands on" (being worked on by your physical therapist) for free. On subsequent visits, with most insurances, they charge separately for that, at $25. This is my only complaint, as paying both my copay and the additional fee is breaking my bank. However, every other physical therapy place I've been do will only do one of those things (hands on or supervised exercise) each visit. All other places I went to only see you for 30 minutes, and you have to schedule exactly when you go in. At Back2Heath, you can come in when it is convenient for you, and they make it work. I find their flexibility to be a huge asset. Because I go slowly, and take many breaks, my visits last about 2 hours. Most patients I seem to visit for an hour. They are sensitive to your time, and if you have to leave by a certain time, they make sure you are seen and out the door in time. When B2H added the $25 addition to my copayment, I tried several other well reviewed physical therapy places in LA. As I said earlier, they only did hands on OR exercises. During that time period, my physical strength at best remained, stable, but often deteriorated. When I was no longer able to leave the house without a walker, I went back to Back2Heath. In the first few months, they quickly got me back to where I'd been when I left (physically strong most of the day, but difficulty sitting past 4pm). In the months since then, I have become much stronger. I can stand, walk, and sit until about 7pm most day, and only need to use my walker when I am carting heavy things, like groceries, about. I really wish that they would waive the $25 fee so that I could continue getting stronger without breaking my bank, but at this point, I'd rather be able to walk and broke, then have money, but be crippled. Yes, they charge extra to see the therapist, but no other place I've found will even do all those things in one visit. I owe my continued mobility to Dr James and his coworkers. They are like family. I believe this is the best physical therapy in LA, by far, and I recommend that everyone go there. read more

Pros: - The exercise routines are varied, and seem to progress at a perfect pace, as advised by a PT-D - Extremely flexible scheduling compared to other PT offices, essentially come when you want - Ample Parking - Everyone is courteous and professional Cons: - The floor is staffed by college students working on Kinesio degrees, not actual PT-As. Most PT offices will have you working with a PT-A or PT-M. These guys are 1 year from graduation, and 2+ years off a PT-A Cert. That being said, they're solid considering they haven't gone to PT school. - Unless you pay $25 *on top of your copay*, college students is all you'll see. If you pay an additional $25 (cash only, they won't let you go through insurance since it cuts in to their margins), you get 10 minutes hands on with a PT-D. Paying $25 extra is the only way to see someone with real PT training. I really haven't felt like the hands on has been beneficial, although it seems like others have had better results. - You'll see a different college student every time, it's really tough to feel like someone is closely monitoring your progress. Most of them only know the extent or specifics of your injury insofar as guessing based on your PT-D's workout plan guiding them. read more

Beyond Novotny's substantial skills, you will find a staff of PHD therapists, as well as a group of young women and men who are beyond conscientious, all clearly focused on the tasks at hand, yet friendly, warm and accessible: all clearly trained by Dr. Novotny. It's a highly competent group with an acute sense of what the patient's needs are and then getting them healed. Dr. Novotny runs a tight ship, he misses nothing, the beauty is that the patient is oblivious; the vibe is mellow with a comfort level that supports the patient's challenging journey to recuperation. Back 2 Health possesses the Novotny vibe, one very decent human being running a place of genuine healing. This review is long overdue. I have been a patient of this facility for almost 2 years now. I started my treatment in Encino after recovering in a nursing home for a broken patella. I feel so blessed to have found this facility because everyone without exception from the staff to the doctors and anyone in between have been absolutely phenomenal in helping me get back on my feet. Just to mention a few: Dr Rachel has been my therapist for as long as I can remember: excellent and dedicated does not describe her enough. From the trainees I have been blessed to work with Troy for the last couple of months and he has been exceptional in showing me each and every time how to do my exercises correctly with a lot of patience and dedication. Without exception everyone deserves 10*. Should you have any injuries or surgeries that require physical therapy, I can save you time and effort in your search. Discovered this location close to my home based on great yelp reviews. Great find! All of the staff are very friendly. Dr. Heidi has great bedside manner, Nick was great about letting me set my first appointment via email and sending over my insurance info in advance so that there were no surprises with copay amounts and reaching my deductible. All of the aides are patient and courteous, and the doctor(s) check in on them periodically to make sure that exercises are being done in the best form. I haven't completed all my sessions yet, but I'm already seeing a big reduction in pain and some strength returning. I've unfortunately been to a few PT offices over the years for various athletic injuries and recovery from a car accident, but I don't think I've ever seen a staff so upbeat and jovial as everyone is in this place. I received physical therapy and hands-on treatment from Dr. Steph, Carolyn, Dontrell, Ella and Ryan, among others, for lumber disk bulges and migraine. I can't recommend them highly enough. Dr. Steph is patient, warm and a great listener. The entire team is thoughtful, attentive and thorough. After 22 treatments and continued daily exercises at home, the burning pain from peripheral neuralgia has virtually disappeared and my migraines have decreased in both frequency and intensity. After an unfortunate work injury in June 2019, my neck and upper trap muscles have been tight, spasming, resistant and completely stubborn to treatment. I had received therapy elsewhere and was discouraged upon my results. I tried accupuncture, cupping, foam rolling, and even ordered a stim machine myself... six months later and still achy I started physical therapy again, this time with Back 2 Health. I can't speak highly enough; 4 sessions in and I feel great! Shout out to Dr. Kristian who's seen me every visit, he truly takes his time and his massages instantly release the tightness. I had treated at this facility in the past and recently came back for an injury to my hip from a horseback riding accident. Dr. Slava and their staff have been so amazing. I had lost movement in my hip and it was causing me a lot of pain. I was completely out of alignment to say the least because of a pulled muscle. Dr. Slava had me feeling better after just a few treatments. He is truly great at what he does and has so much compassion. I was really surprised he actually remembered treating me a few years back. This review is long overdue, considering how much I owe to the doctors and staff at Back 2 Health. It dawned on me just the other day while racing with two guys up and down the trails of Griffith Park, that my knees could not have remotely handled that just 2 years ago. I went in for help with a strained adductor and an almost lifelong problem with how my knees tracked (resulting in pain and weakness). The staff got a handle on my strain quickly and within 5 weeks it felt fine, but more importantly, it no longer seems prone to re-injury (a cycle I was caught in for some time). The knees were something I thought no amount of work could fix, and within a couple more months, they proved me wrong. They really know what they're doing and they educated me on continued care for my knees at home. Beyond all of that, they also got me into great shape! I've had PT at two other places before, and it was always very simplistic. PT at Back 2 Health was rigorous, and the exercises were engaging. I still use a handful of the exercises I learned as my warmup for skating competitions. It's interesting to me that one complaint on here is in regards to how long a session lasts, because I considered it a plus. It takes time and hard work to get better. This review is long overdue. This place is amazing. I started my treatment at another place and all they did was hook me to a machine and gave me between 3-5 minutes of massage on my back. No progress after 7 sessions and I went to my Orthopedic surgeon to schedule the surgery. A new doctor saw me and he suggested trying a different facility, if doesn't work, then try surgery. He suggested Back to health and my life changed after the second visit. I started with Dr. Ian, but then he left to go to another location and I started the treatment with Dr. James. It is unbelievable. Dr. James is amazing, thanks to him, I can lift my arm and shoulder now and my back doesn't hurt like before. All of the staff are super friendly, caring, supportive, and great to work with. The place is always clean. I have no hesitation in referring friends there. I was referred by a friend and I am so glad I listened! Having been to another PT years before for something else I have something to compare my experience to. I just finished my consultation & first session and I am so pleased. Had an initial consultation with Dr. James and Lacey where he was very thorough in his exam and explaining why I felt discomfort in some positions and not in others. We looked at a map of the nerves so he could visually explain how things are connected; I like to know what's causing pain, where and why, so that was fantastic. Then I worked with Christian on exercises that Dr. James specified. Christian was great at explaining how to do each exercise and paid attention to my form and corrected when needed. Afterwards I received attention with 3 kinds of therapy: ultrasound, those little electric pads, as well some pressure/massage. Dr. James and Lacey spoke to me during and rechecked all of the examined places from the beginning of the appointment to see what had changed. I also have exercise homework for my injury until my next appointment. Everything was clean and cleaned after use. Everyone was so nice and polite! I also noticed that everyone I dealt with was very conscious of making sure I was comfortable and their main concern, as opposed to going through the motions. Thanks to these guys I am almost good as new. After a shoulder injury. I had to have a rotator cuff repair and then PT. I came to these guys because they were close to home and work. After going two times a week, for a few months, I feel good as new. (Well, almost). They also taught me how to continue to build my strength and to continue my exercises on my own at home. Very pro and very accommodating to my schedule. They are great for the entertainment industry, as they understand our crazy schedules and hectic work load and help us work out around it. It is my pleasure and an honor to share my experience of Back 2 Health. I found Back 2 Health only after being referred to another physical therapy center. This center put everyone through nearly the same routines which in my case worsened my injury, pain and suffering. Had I been a client of to Back 2 Health in the first place, it is very likely I would have healed easily and quickly. It was clear from the moment I stepped into their facility and observed the other clients that they valued and appreciated their PT therapists. I saw smiles and heard soft laughter all round. In my first appointment, I met Dr. Ian. He was kind, caring and concerned. He listened deeply and then designed a physical therapy program tailored for my needs which included addressing the exacerbated problems caused by the other PT facility although he never once said a negative thing about the other place. From the first exercise which was unlike anything I had previously been exposed to, I began to feel muscles that had been rock hard tight begin to relax. Each exercise thereafter was equally and obviously helpful. Every session ended with attention to tight muscles being expertly massaged as well as treatments that reduced inflammation. To my surprise, Dr. Ian did every one of these ending sessions again with care and kindness. I remain deeply grateful to Dr. Ian and every one of the staff members and physical therapists each of whom were kind, patient, very well trained, always took care to give their best and consistently displayed a generosity of spirit. I'm hesitant to write a review because I don't want to make this place too busy . I've been coming here for 7 years, which actually sounds really bad but I have a genetic syndrome that can only be helped with PT and is degenerative. I hate coming here for the exercise but I love coming here for the staff! I currently see Dr Heidi and then Dr James when she isn't available and they're both very knowledgeable. All of the aides are very helpful and friendly and the doctors are equally as nice. My main doctor is Dr. Stephanie and she is wonderful. Since I started at Back 2 Health I have witnessed my balance, strength, and overall quality of movement drastically improve.
