Another day, another Brooklyn cafe! My friend & I have been wanting to try this place for a while now! When we walked in, the girl at the counter was super friendly! We both ordered iced cappuccinos & they were ready pretty quick! The cappuccinos were half filled (with milk & all) which was a bit confusing! There's a section where you can add more milk & straws; so I added a bit more oat milk - thought it was super cool that plant based milk wasn't an extra charge bc some places will literally charge an extra $1. Sadly, there was no cinnamon :((( The coffee was average, there's some outdoor seating that we took advantage of since it was a sunny day; however random people kept sitting there who weren't customers (probably from the park) which was a bit strange!

While visiting friends in Greenpoint I found myself frequenting Variety during my stay. I thought the coffee and prices were great! The service was great and I never had to wait long to receive my coffee. They have a self serve milk, sugar and syrup station which is convenient. They have some seating inside and ample seating outside.

    2 days old pastries.

I had a capuccino and an almond croissant, at Variety coffee Greenpoint, the coffee was alright, the almond croissant was at least 2 days old, the price a very expensive $9, the Service obnoxious, I wonder where they hire this people??!!! And why they serve old pastries at 9AM??!!! more importantly , I wonder why people go to a NOT welcoming and expensive place that serves old pastries!?

A wypieki? Chociaż nie wiem skąd je ściagają to są również bardzo dobre.

Best coffee in North BK. Reasonably priced drinks and amazing baristas who play great music. A neighborhood staple.

Love this place. $2.50 is the best cold brew deal in town. The croissants are so-so though.

Great little cafe with baristas that frequently smile. Love their cappuccinos and lattes but wish they closed a few hours later.

I am obsessed with Variety's mochas! The staff is a hit or miss. Sometimes they're not too friendly.

Great coffee. Great baristas. Great cafe. But, last time I was there, a huge cockroach was scrambling across the counter.

The prices are fair and the owner will get whatever is needed for local brewers. Karps in Northport is pretty cheap and they are very friendly but brewing is an afterthought there as it is primarily a hardware store. Sometimes they do not have people on staff that know about the brew section. Also it is a bit disorganized and small. Arbor Wine has a very nicely laid out store with even distiller supplies but their prices are about 50% more which makes it prohibitively expensive. Brew and Beyond has large containers of bulk grains and a convenient electric mill to process your grains free of charge. They are in a tough location but people are known to travel long distances for home brew. Please give it a go if you are in the area because it is both good and a small business that is going to need word of mouth to survive.

Homebrew is the focus of the store so he knows it, and knows it well. He fielded nearly 100 questions from me, and explained things he was doing without me asking. Sort of passing on information in a Yoda-like fashion. The service did not stop there. He printed out recipes with the ingredient amounts and emailed me instructions. I received tips on clubs around the island for homebrewers to join and learn more. Lastly on brew day I emailed him questions, called him and he gave me every pointer he could. If you are a homebrewer, this is where you should shop for your supplies!

This place has everything, attentive service, great beer, and great food. I find that sometimes the beer offerings at various breweries get a bit stale --- it's almost always the same stuff. Keg & Lantern is going to have all your favorite, but they just seem better executed. My go-to first beer is the Soprano. A great crisp Italian pilsner After that, it's off to the races with a high abv hazy ipa. The food here is also great. In particular, I love their fish and chips. After having it multiple times, it seems unbelievably consistent. It's always delicious. My wife loves the blackened fish. Finally, the service is great. They're attentive, always seem to swing by at the right time, and are super friendly. K&L seems to do everything all the other breweries do, but just a little bit better. For sure stop in here. Oh, also they've got some great happy hour specials!
