Another day, another Brooklyn cafe! My friend & I have been wanting to try this place for a while now! When we walked in, the girl at the counter was super friendly! We both ordered iced cappuccinos & they were ready pretty quick! The cappuccinos were half filled (with milk & all) which was a bit confusing! There's a section where you can add more milk & straws; so I added a bit more oat milk - thought it was super cool that plant based milk wasn't an extra charge bc some places will literally charge an extra $1. Sadly, there was no cinnamon :((( The coffee was average, there's some outdoor seating that we took advantage of since it was a sunny day; however random people kept sitting there who weren't customers (probably from the park) which was a bit strange!

While visiting friends in Greenpoint I found myself frequenting Variety during my stay. I thought the coffee and prices were great! The service was great and I never had to wait long to receive my coffee. They have a self serve milk, sugar and syrup station which is convenient. They have some seating inside and ample seating outside.

I had a capuccino and an almond croissant, at Variety coffee Greenpoint, the coffee was alright, the almond croissant was at least 2 days old, the price a very expensive $9, the Service obnoxious, I wonder where they hire this people??!!! And why they serve old pastries at 9AM??!!! more importantly , I wonder why people go to a NOT welcoming and expensive place that serves old pastries!?

Co przychodzi mi na myśl gdy myślę o Variety? Bezpieczny wybór dla kawoszów! Nigdy ale to nigdy przez dobre kilkanaście uczęszczania do tej hispterskiej kawiarenki nie miałem złej albo nawet kiepskiej kawy. Można po prostu na nich polegać. Są niezadowodni. A wypieki? Great prices and solid coffee but pretty dingy. When I picked up a sleeve for my coffee cup, I kicked up a cloud of dust. Then I looked down and noticed the container with all the sleeves, straws, etc. was just caked with dust and dirt. Gross. read more

Wonderful place close to home. Delicious espresso drinks and great coffee. They french press small batches into a carafe so hopefully you get a fresh batch when you ask for a single cup of coffee. Baked goods are the only food offered but they're also delicious and come in a variety (get it?) of weird flavor combinations. Staff is extremely friendly. I will walk the wrong way from the train just for a cup. read more

Excellent coffee goes without saying. But what I loved most about this particular location was how friendly and neighborhood-y the staff was. I'd come in a couple times a week and all the baristas knew my name and would chat with me. Kind of made me feel like I had a community spot, which was really cool! Miss it so much since moving away. Whether you're looking for a straight black coffee or a whipped latter or hot cocoa, never had a bad cup from these guys. Highly recommend. read more

Simple place, good coffee, but keeps very short hours. Everyone saying the staff is friendly must have been somewhere else or had one lucky experience. I live in the neighborhood and have semi-frequented this location for over a year. There is only one employee that's not consistently rude to customers. All the others make you feel like you're ruining their day by placing an order. read more

My favorite cold brew and super friendly staff. No frills and no BS. Just good coffee. I frequent this place often, as in ever single day. I have sleepily stumbled in once or twice without cash by accident and gotten a friendly "this one's on me" (I thank thee coffee gods). I would dig a coffee rewards stamp card or something , and it'd be great if this location kept similar hours to the one up by the L but as long as I get my morning coffee, no complaints. read more

This place is just alright. The drink selection is on the meager side, and what's really disappointing is that they have NO decaf coffee. A lot of places don't have drip decaf, but they have decaf espresso. This place doesn't even have that, which is a real shame, because it basically takes it completely out of the running for me. Also, the wifi tends to be pretty sketchy. The ambiance is nice though, and they play great music. read more

I kinda live in the same neighborhood as this place, but it's definitely not the closest cute little coffee shop to me. However, I always walk the extra several blocks because this place rules! It's cozy, yet still has huge windows so you can get great natural lighting. I go here all the time to work on my laptop or read a book. I'm sure it is also a great place to hang out, listen to hip tunes or even people watch. They've got great snacks and a damn fine cup of coffee. I also tried their cappuccino and it's dangerous! Best cappuccino I've had in a long time. read more

The coffee here is beyond comparel! Also, the hot chocolate is delectable! This is the best coffee shop in Greenpoint! The muffins and croissants are always fresh and scrumptious. We cannot say enough about how much we adore this coffee shop. The people who work at this cafe' are so nice and accommodating that I could explode with joy!! This is a true cool Brooklyn coffee shop. The clientele is eclectic as it should be. Old, young, wheel chair bound are welcomed and treated with respect and kindness. What a wonderful business!! I love this place. It's small and has a nice comfy feel to it. They serve stumptown coffee, which isn't my favorite, but make it strong and tasty somehow. The baristas are nice and the menu is small. A good way to wakeup in the morning is to come here. read more

The neighborhood is lucky to have this place--it is the best of the coffee shops. It's not so much the coffee that makes it stand out. More the music playlist. I guess that is where the "variety" comes in. And they aren't afraid to put on a few metal tracks once in while. read more

Consequently, I don't trust that they can withstand the 6+ bar pressure that can develop in the bottle when fermenting wine in the bottle (methode Champenoise). I would think some may explode so do your homework and if you proceed with these bottles, wear eye protection and gloves. I tried to get the weight of the bottles from customer service, prior to ordering, but I did not succeed. They just assured me that they were suited for making sparkling wine, so no I am stuck with 25 bottles that I cannot use, which is why the one star review.

They have a large selection of hops, grains, brewing supplies, and yeasts. The prices are fair and the owner will get whatever is needed for local brewers. Karps in Northport is pretty cheap and they are very friendly but brewing is an afterthought there as it is primarily a hardware store. Sometimes they do not have people on staff that know about the brew section. Also it is a bit disorganized and small. Arbor Wine has a very nicely laid out store with even distiller supplies but their prices are about 50% more which makes it prohibitively expensive. Brew and Beyond has large containers of bulk grains and a convenient electric mill to process your grains free of charge. They are in a tough location but people are known to travel long distances for home brew. Please give it a go if you are in the area because it is both good and a small business that is going to need word of mouth to survive.

Love to spend a weekend morning here, they often have a copy of the Times and I always enjoy reading and drinking a coffee while listening to their pleasant mellow music, its difficult to find a coffee place that has music to suit the mood of the recently awoken. The lone barista is always friendly but pleasantly mild mannered, even when managing their sometimes long lines. this is a real neighborhood coffee shop, perfect. and thank god no wifi! The big store on Graham Avenue is overrun with people on their laptops who look like they buy a bottle juice (if anything) and camp out for hours. read more

The staff is super friendly and the espresso they have is great. Other cafes in the area seem to have issues with consistent espresso, but these guys have it figured out. I just wish there were more options of snacks to take on the go. Carbs are nice, but you can't have muffins 5 days a week. read more

Coffee does not taste very good. Not a good experience. The staff needs to work on their customer service, rude and very sarcastic. Nobody needs this when ordering coffee. Perhaps the owner can give them a lesson or fire them. read more

Terrible coffee, very watered down, one employee had zero customer service, extremely rude, not sure how this place stays in business. Outdoor dining structure is a dilapidated filthy rotting wood shack. read more
