We hired TAP for our San Diego Wedding. We initially met with Tim. He was very informative and professional. Like some of the other reviews mention - Tim and his team gave us sample timelines and lots of good information/ tips. They got to know about us and what we were looking for on our big day. We had a destination wedding so most of our meetings/ communication were done via the phone and email. Effren was our DJ and he did an AMAZING JOB! We gave him songs to play during cocktail hour and a very specific list to play during dinner. He played every song that we asked. During the dancing portion we left the beats up to Effren and he kept our guests dancing all night long! He was very professional and did a great job at adjusting to last minute announcements and requests we had through the night. I just got married on May 9, 2015 at Pala Mesa Resort in Fallbrook, CA. I attended the US Grant Bridal Bazaar (which is the best bridal bazaar I've ever been to by FAR). In the "reception" themed room, there was a DJ with a percussionist. They sounded SOOOOOO good. I followed up with (back then) Tim Altbaum Productions (now Vario Productions) and made an appointment for my husband and I to have a consultation. We met with Matt Roush. He took down some of our likes and dislikes. Got to know what kind of music we liked. He also informed us of the other services they provide. We ended up booking Michael Cabrera as our DJ, a percussionist and our photo booth with them as well. We had met with Michael on our own and he got a feel for what type of music we liked. I loved that they don't have a "play list" but that they get down your must plays, and DO NOT play! But we were still able to give them small lists of songs that my husband and I absolutely wanted to be played during dinner and cocktail hour which was so awesome. My husband and I have very different tastes in music (I wanted certain Disney songs played and my husband likes reggae/island music), but Michael made it work, and it fit us so well. Our guests loved the percussionist and Michael together! Many said that they'd never seen that before(which is always so awesome to hear). The dance floor was never empty. And in my opinion, that says A LOT about a DJ. My husband and I always say, theres nothing worse than a bad DJ at a wedding. Michael was beyondddddd amazing. And our guests adored the photo booth. We hired Vario Weddings to do both lighting and music for our June wedding at The Grand Del Mar and everything went just perfectly. From our first communications and meeting all the way through to execution the whole team did an incredible job. Karissa was amazing to work with and totally on top of everything. We had Anthony as our guitarist for the ceremony and cocktail hour and he played just beautifully and DJ Effren took over during the reception and he kept everyone on the dance floor until the bitter end. We hired TA Productions for our wedding. I was very impressed with Matt and our first meeting. He was extremely professional and his follow up was great. Our guitarist was also great (although they said he would sing and play and he didnt sung at all). But the music was lovely and he was more than accommodating. Our DJ was not a good experience though. I had filled out an entire questionnaire and playlist weeks before the wedding. The receptionist obviously wasnt on the same page as Matt because she was requesting it week of. Then the DJ scheduled a call with us, he missed the call and never called back until Matt told him to. Once on the phone, he asked all the questions we had already answered on the questionnaire and didnt even know we had a guitarist, all booked through the same timeline. Our wedding planner had sent our timeline weeks prior, he obviously didnt know that either. Once there, he didnt play even half the songs we requested. I went up twice and asked that he stop playing the genre he was and to speed it up to contemporary hip hop/top 40. After 5 more songs of his same stuff he finally did but then forgot to call up my family for toasts. Again - on the sheet we completed. Aside from Matt and the guitarist - very disappointing and not worth the extra money! read more

I worked with Vario for the rental of a red carpet and velvet rope stanchions, production of use of a step and repeat wall, and photography for a movie premier event hosted by a local San Diego non-profit group. Everyone at Vario was a pleasure to work with and communicated with me through the process. Joey set-up the day of the event and was very helpful and worked hard to get the red carpet and step and repeat wall set-up, even when some last minute changes made us re-arrange the carpet and wall three times. The photographer covered all aspects of the event including the red carpet arrivals, general event shots, and speakers before our movie screening. We coordinated through Larissa who was always very nice and helpful in answering my questions... and I had a lot since this was my first time being involved with something of this scale. He was extremely professional, kept us organized and on track when I slacked off on wedding planning, thank goodness! We also used him for our GOBO and lighting. My husband and I hired TAP productions for our wedding. The lighting provided was superb. The music was good although, a few must play songs were missed. They did throw in a few unexpected songs that guests raved about. The dj also stumbled over his words when introducing the wedding party and father/daughter dance. Lastly, they didnt announce the last dance as I presummed they would. Overall, my experience was good but, its probably worth it to hire Tim himself rather than one of his DJ's if you are looking for 100% perfection. read more

He helped with a timeline of events for the big day. And he executed perfectly! He had everyone dancing all night - including my parents, grandparents and friends. We got married at La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club on 10/13/2013 and we used TAP for our acoustic ceremony and cocktail hour music and then used Kris as our DJ for our reception. They also provided uplighting, a gobo, and additional sound equipment. Everything was absolutely perfect! The wedding went on smoothly and it was well coordinated. Kris did a fabulous job keeping the party going and everyone dancing. There was never a dull moment and everyone complimented the music the day after at our post-wedding brunch!!! Many of our guests told us they never stopped dancing and it was the longest they've danced in years! They were very very happy with the selection and his energy! It was just perfect. My husband James and I had the opportunity to work with Vario Productions for our wedding that took place on November 17, 2016. Our venue was at NTC Liberty Station, we met with Lindsey and her team to discuss the type of music/lighting we wanted for our wedding. Lindsey was very easy to work with, friendly and personable. Prior to one of our meetings, Lindsey requested for us to fill out a music timeline. It was a little tedious at first, but then as time went on, we made the best of it and had a great time listening and picking out our wedding songs. We wanted a variety of music ranging from country, reggaeton, trap, edm, jazz, bachata, classical, jazz, 90s music etc. Although our guest count was small (40), we informed Vario/DJ Michael that we wanted everyone on the dance floor including Grandma/Grandpa. We cut out a lot from the Wedding Timeline such as the garter toss and some speeches in order to have more time to dance. Knowing that the music was important to us, DJ Michael delivered as promised. During our cocktail hour, my friends and family loved the music selection. It ranged from classical, jazz, slow songs and Spanish rock. I can hear my friends say, "Aww I love this song!" Our first dance, we started our slow dance for one minute and then DJ Michael dropped the TRAP beat out of no where. (It was what we wanted of course). Everyone loved it and did not expect that at all. DJ Michael made sure we stayed on the timeline. That helped a lot because I sure wasn't going to remember. DJ Michael kept the whole wedding party dancing the whole entire night. Grandma and Grandpa were out there getting it to the "Boots with the fur" song, and even my parents were out there dancing! Never in my whole life I have seen my parents dance and they were out there shaking their tail feathers. At one point during the dancing, DJ Michael started to lose the crowd, he saw that and made necessary adjustments. Of course, he dropped the BEATS. It went from the Cupid Shuffle to his very own remix. The Best Man said, "I've never been to a wedding that played TRAP music!" All in all, we loved the decorations, the Vario team were in and out, the music was AMAZING and my friends and family had a great time. Matt was my first point of contact and he was so awesome throughout the entire process. He was so helpful, answered all of my questions and came up with suggestions when I needed help. From the moment I met Tim, I felt completely at ease and I knew he would do a great job at my daughter's wedding. He is the ultimate professional and really knows his stuff. He is the best at throwing out suggestions but letting you make the decisions. From the lighting to the music our wedding went off without a hitch! We had a super cool steel band duo for the Friday night welcome reception: Dano's Island Sounds. They created a great party ambience! Joe Cardillo provided live music during the cocktail reception, ceremony and first dance. You'll find him in the dictionary under "A-M-A-Z-I-N-G." He created several custom renditions for us that totally personalized the wedding. And DJ Michael got the party really rolling with his dinner and dancing music! Book Effren as your wedding DJ. He will not disappoint. I was asked repeatedly by our guests during and after the wedding if they could get the playlist he used, no joke. Most music we recommended but he knew what to mix in that made the evening extra fun. He kept the dance floor full of energy from start to finish, but also did a great job keeping the timeline of the wedding on track with wedding party intros, speeches, etc. Be prepared to ask him to tone it down a bit if you have older guests looking to keep up, but only because he plays to the crowd and knows how to keep everyone moving. Vario was amazing!! Selecting the DJ was the most important part of our wedding and we wanted to make sure that we selected the best DJ. WOW, we definitely did!! My sister had Tim, Vario's owner, as the DJ for her wedding back in 2010 and when I got engaged the first thing I asked her was who was that great DJ that kept us dancing until 3am. She told me Tim, and I discovered that since 2010, he has founded Vario Productions, and has grown a ton, as a result of his great talent. We had Matt Roush help us up until a few weeks before our wedding, and he was great.- very professional, always responded right away to our emails and questions, and very patient when it took a while for us to get back to him (my husband and I are both law students).
