Overall: 3.5 Would I recommend to a friend or family: No, unless you can be on top of their team and make sure they are completing work to the best of their ability. Our team consisted of the following: - Ben (General Contractor) - saw him twice throughout the project. - Isabela (Designer) - was our point person, did a great job of hearing us out and adding her thoughts when we asked. - Derek (Project Manager) - came around every so often. - Aaron and his team I want to share my honest experience, as there were several recurring issues throughout this project that I think future clients should be aware of. Communication Problems Communication between team members was inconsistent, and I frequently found myself acting as the go-between for different parts of the team -- which shouldn't be the homeowner's job. For example, when we first discussed removing the kitchen tile and installing LVP flooring, Ben confirmed this was possible. In a later conversation, we were told there were actually two options because the counters sit on top of the tile. We accepted the tradeoffs and confirmed we wanted to move forward with the demo and LVP installation anyway. Isabela then told us it was definitely possible -- and shortly after, said it wasn't. This kind of back-and-forth made it hard to trust that anyone was fully in sync. Communication also broke down near the end of the project. We asked to be notified in advance when workers would be arriving so we could plan our weekends accordingly. Despite sending these requests every Friday, we had multiple weekends with no communication and no notice. Lack of Timeline Transparency I work in an environment with a lot of competing priorities, so having a clear project timeline matters a great deal to me. Unfortunately, there were multiple points during the project where we had little to no visibility into when specific phases would actually be completed, which made planning around the renovation difficult. Inattention to Detail Several smaller details were not handled to a professional standard: The caulking on the second floor is patchy and inconsistent in multiple areas. When we flagged this with the ECO team, the workers sent to fix it said they would only address certain sections, not the full scope of the issue. The corner floorboards are not flush, leaving noticeable gaps. When we brought this up, we were told, "I don't know if we can do that because they would have to sand it and repaint." Flush floorboards should be a baseline standard, and these gaps came across as a lack of willingness to do the work needed for a professional finish. Material Quality Some of the materials used did not match what I'd expect from a company that markets itself as specializing in high-end remodeling. A few items appeared to be sourced from Amazon and had defects that required replacement with the same product. Overall, this didn't feel like the experience we were promised. read more

Overall very satisfied with the functionality, timeline, and quality of work on our master bathroom completed by the Eco team. The cost was clearly stated from the outset and the team ensured that we stayed within budget. I do wish that I had asked about certain features such as baseboards, towel hangers, built-in storage, etc because it was not clear who would be responsible for paying. Some communication issues came up regarding my expectations of the material costs versus what was spelled out in the contract & I wish that information was restated by team members before agreeing to the work. Additionally, the language barrier with contractors was difficult to navigate when questions regarding materials came up. We had to use a translation app multiple times and communicate with the designer and project manager to clear things up, which could have been avoided by designating materials in advance so workers knew what was needed/where to find them. Knowing what kind of work was going to be done each day would've also been helpful. Izabela our designer was very friendly, respectful, and attentive to my design preferences. She also always communicated in a timely manner. Derek our project manager replaced Ben through the construction process so we didn't communicate as often but he was always friendly and considerate to our needs, and available if we had questions. EDITED after talking to owner: Update - Rafael, the owner called me to discuss the situation below. He genuinely seemed upset to hear about my experience and was apologetic and took responsibility. He offered to refer me to some of his subs to see if they could do the work themselves. I appreciated his call and felt like he was being honest in his apology. If you can avoid Eden, maybe give this company a try Misogynistic, unprofessional and kept my blueprints without permission. Buyer beware! I had requested a quote for a backyard landscaping project. I already had plans in hand and just needed someone to execute them. Eden came to my home 30 minutes before our scheduled appointment, which is incredibly rude since I work at home and am in meetings all day. I ended a meeting early and already annoyed, I let him in to look at the yard and provide an estimate. The first meeting he threw out a price that was out of my budget and seemed very high for the work required. I told him as much and he immediately put on the high pressure sales tactics, saying that he needed a copy of my blueprints so he could go back and refine the proposal. He said he HAD to come back in person to present the proposal and couldn't just email it to me. Fine, whatever, I gave him on of our two blueprint copies and thought it wouldn't hurt to hear what the final proposal came out to be. Eden had scheduled time to come to the house the next week to "present" his bid. The next week comes and Eden is 15 minutes late- again SUPER rude since I already let him know I work from home and can't just make time for him whenever he wants. He walks in with NO written proposal and tells me he has good news. He then proceeds to pitch the exact same quote as he originally had given me the week before. For context, we already have a blueprint, it's 95% just plants and 2% hardscape with the remaining 3% patio covers. He tells me he's going to charge me $70k, but I'll have to pay for ALL materials separately (plants, alumawood patio covers, mulch, etc.). Which means he is quoting me $70k JUST for labor. I tell him I feel like I'm being hustled and that as a fellow sales-person I feel insulted. Eden laughs in my face and proceeds to treat me as a child from that point forward He asks if I know the difference between flat fee and cost plus pricing. I've been in high-end financial sales for 25 years, so yes I know this. He then says that since he's providing a flat-fee quote, that it's not possible to provide a written proposal. I tell him that's not acceptable and that I only work with companies that provide transparency in their pricing and he proceeds to argue with me that as a company that only gives flat fee pricing, he is being transparent because he gave me the final fee. I'm already completely insulted and agast at his unprofessionalism. $70k and no written proposal? I tell him as such and he counters with the only two items he ever brought up as benefits- I get access to their designers and they have a software system that keeps me updated on all billing and constructions progress. This is even more insulting because he's either A) a complete moron, or B) gives no F's about what I'm actually looking for. I think a little of both honestly. I already had a full set of plans and blueprints, so why would their designers add value?? And it's a backyard project comprised mostly of irrigation and planting jobs- why would software help me at all? At this point, I tell him his quote of $70k for just labor, when I have to purchase all materials and plants separately, is insane and that we are done with the meeting. He then says (and I quote) "You don't have to be mean about it! Just be nice!" Read that again if you missed it. This guy literally said to the woman who he was asking to write him a $70k check to "be nice". I can't swear on yelp, but I wanted to punch him in the face and tell him to F-off. How dare he! Needless to say, he was escorted right out. But I was so insulted and angry at this process that I needed to let the world know about this company and Eden, their misogynistic sales rep. TLDR: Doesn't respect your time, shows up whenever they feel like. Treats the women in the house like children (even if that woman is the breadwinner and writing the checks), doesn't feel the need to provide written proposals or price transparency when throwing out large bids. Overall not a company I would ever, ever, ever work with. Also - give me back my blueprints!!!!! read more

Hello this james, I live in El Cajon, CA back in 824 we had our garage redone from top to bottom. I just want to let people know what kind of quality work we had done. The dry wall repair was fairly good with exception if of a few missed spots that were not filled before coating. So you can see the holes. The epoxy floor that was originally promised was changed and downgraded to a cheaper layout. The epoxy floor looked good at first however the topcoating clear coat started to yellow after a year. After researching found out that if you use a cheap clear coat without UV protection. There is a clear coat that has UV protection. The cabinets that were installed were not level i found out later and were not spaced properly. You can't open one door without closing other door. They bind on each other. When the job was complete we did have them fix some discrepancies. However if you're not aware of of some things like long term like garage epoxy floor. And cabinets not level, missed holes in walls. I really wish the garage floor would been done correctly. The yellowing just keeps getting worse with every month. If they would not have used cheaper material and better quality supplies for long term. Overall I'm not happy with completed work done back in March. 2024. ​ read more

Sean answered right away, and had a super convenient appointment for us. Then Benjamin came on time, and figured out a way to get the work done much sooner than we thought, which was awesome. The work was done in one day, even faster than we expected. Workers were friendly and respectful of our space, including removing their shoes at the entrance. We hired Eco Home Builders in May 2024 to complete a full master bathroom remodel to both update it's 1970's original décor and make the bathroom safer/ADA friendly for my elderly father. After MUCH research, I developed a short list of (3) companies to meet with to discuss the remodel. I met with each company, but it became apparent that Eco Home Builders was the clear leader, so we hired them. There are many reasons that we selected Eco Home Builders and would recommend them to anyone needing a general contractor. 1) Ron Neve, Project Director: Ron was one of the leading reasons that we selected Eco Home Builders for our remodeling project. He came out to meet with us to discuss the project, the company, the costs, etc. I am a very detail oriented person and a demanding client - I ask a LOT of questions; I want to know how things are going to work; I want to see proof of contractor's license/bonds/liability insurance/worker's compensation; I want a detailed schedule/timeline; I review contracts in detail and request changes; I set parameters that need to be followed regarding people in my home due to my elderly father, etc. I laid out all of these qualities and more, exposed my scariest self and asked Ron directly if he felt he could work with me and meet my demands. He did not blink and answered that he could, would and would welcome it. I was sold! Throughout the project Ron kept in close communication with us via e-mail, texts, calls and MANY visits/check ins at our home. When problems arose or there was any confusion about steps forward, Ron was on it so that it was addressed and resolved quickly and to our satisfaction. Ron was involved in every single step of the project from the initial meeting, design concept, material selection, construction, inspections and project completion. Ron is intimately familiar with the construction process and has hands on experience in construction, so truly understands the entire process from conception to completion, as well as everything in between. But, equally important, Ron is just a really good and genuine person. When my father was hospitalized shortly after we signed the contract and before we started the design phase, Ron checked in daily to inquire about him. At no point did he talk about the project and when I brought up a possible delay, he told me not to worry about it, but to just focus on my father. Ron truly is an exceptional Project Director and person, not to mention trustworthy and delivers on his promises. 2) Remodeling Under One Roof: We really wanted a general contractor who would assist us manage the process from conception to completion. The fact that Eco Home Builders assists with the design process, blueprints/renderings, materials/fixtures selection, construction, inspections, and the like was a key deciding factor for us. We are not people who are highly skilled in interior design and have trouble picturing how everything will look upon completion, so having assistance with the design, material selection and photo renderings was very important to us and Eco delivered beautifully. 3) Construction Crew: Our construction crew, headed by Nacho, were extremely polite, friendly and competent. They arrived on time each morning, performed their specialized work with precision, and kept us informed of progress throughout the project. Nacho was instrumental at addressing and resolving any small snafus that occurred through the project and put up with my daily questions, constant checks ins, and requests. The resulting bathroom, now a year old, still looks as good as the day it was completed almost a year ago and everything continues to work as installed. 4) Cost: We found Eco Home Builders cost competitive with other general contractors. They were not the highest or lowest bid that we received, but in the middle. We felt we got a good value for the price that we paid for the project based on the support and assistance that we received.
