This is my first time to leave a negative review for any business. I have used this salon 7 times and have had long standing appointments cancelled 3 times, 2 of those at the last minute. They do a good job with the pedicures but I can't count on them to honor the appointment. Also even though I book the first morning appointment at nine, my technician has never been there before 9:15. read more

Finally went back and the new location, receptionist/communication, and nails were 5 star. I went to see Kameren for a mani/pedi and it was super luxurious and fun. It felt like a perfect spa day. It is not a quick in and out type of place however so plan accordingly. read more

Amazing. The talent here is remarkable! I was able to get a last minute appointment due to a cancellation but if you're wanting an appointment, you'll have to schedule for about 2-3 weeks out! Very very clean space with a super modern aesthetic to the shop. A bit pricey (compared to generic nail salons) but worth it for the quality! In my quest to find a better option for a business to get a mani & pedi, I found this new spot. However, I was not sure on who worked there & their quality of work. But I was intrigued with chic decor and up & coming location off of Limestone. A short time after my search, a previous nail tech I've experienced stated she was going to be starting at this location!!! Yay!!!! Karen is so passionate & great at what she does. I was so excited to see her again. Varnish is in a cool quaint location & the space is even better! Staff I encountered at my visit were welcoming & friendly. I am so glad I heard about this place. I love getting pedicures, but had stopped going a few years ago due to concerns about the hygiene and treatment of staff at many nail salons. This salon is so relaxing and the treatments top notch. The staff were all super friendly. I will certainly be back. This place is beautiful and the work they do is even better. The staff is so wonderful and friendly. Because they use vegan polishes the gel color selection is somewhat limited compared to other places, but their technicians will help you find the perfect color either by mixing colors or adding different top coats. I love Varnish, just wish they weren't so hard to get an appointment with but I guess that's because everyone loves them! read more

I love this place! They opened in January and I'm so glad they did. It is sharp, stylish, and emphasizes using products with minimal chemicals and environmental impact. I don't feel like I have to dress up here and I don't get attitude to go with my pedicure, just excellent service and color choices. I already have another appointment. read more

These peeps know wassup!! The shop is extremely clean and all of their tools are sanitary!! They don't do acrylic nails or drillling, which means no harsh fumes and dust!! Cara, my nail tech slayed my nails!! She took her time to make sure that they were perfect!! My nails are SO CUTE!! Their aesthetic is . So excited that there is a natural nail salon in Lexington that really cares about what they are doing and want the best for their guests needs! Their prices are very fair for what you get!! Hannah did my gel manicure and pedicure and she is AMAZING. I am so glad something like this is in Lexington. I have an autoimmune disease and I had to stop getting my nails done because the environment and products were so toxic. But this place not only does not use drills or acrylic, the polish they use is non toxic! You will be paying a teensy but extra at this place, but it is well worth it. read more

Varnish Nail Shoppe is my all time favorite nail salon in Lexington. I came to them months ago when I had a terrible experience at a different salon. After a lot of research I found them because they don't use nail drills and only use manual nail files so there is less damage to your nails. They helped my nails grow and really treated me like family. All the employees are wonderful and really care about the clients they have come in. Overall, Varnish is an 11/10 in my book! read more

I've gone to many nail salons in town, and Varnish is by far and away the best. I've seen probably every nail tech at this point and they're all great. They are polite, make great conversation, and do a great job with your nails. This is also THE place to go if you want fancy nail art. They're skilled beyond just painting your nails. My only issue is that you do need to book well in advance or they fill up because it's so popular. I had to cheat recently and go to another nail salon because they were booked up, and it just wasn't worth it. Next time I'll wait for a place at Varnish. read more

When I walked in this morning, I had no idea I would be walking out feeling like I had a spa experience. The ambience is chill and so relaxing. The decor is rustic chic. All of the hanging plants and succulents give you earthy feel while the simplicity of the decor has minimalist undertones which I absolutely adore. Chemical free. Toxin free. All-natural. No harsh instruments tearing up my nail bed. I left with not only the best mani-pedi I've ever had but feeling completely relaxed and zen. Locally owned & operated, as well as women owned, they are setting a high bar for not just the Lexington area but anywhere. I just had my first AMAZING visit to Varnish and I am so impressed. All the staff members are friendly and welcoming, the space is peaceful, clean, and gorgeous. It looks and smells like a spa and is super relaxing. I chose the Signature pedicure and Cara did an incredible job- very thorough but gentle, with great attention to detail. I can't wait to go back and try the Knockout! It's so refreshing to have an option for mani/pedis free of toxic chemicals, what a great addition to Lexington. read more

I was REALLY excited to try this place and hoping it to be amazing. I really appreciate that they use non-toxic polish and the atmosphere is very pleasant. The price of a pedicure is close to double what a more traditional nail salon charges, which would be worth it to me if the experience was at least as good in many regards and hopefully better in some, but that wasn't the case. The woman who did my pedicure appeared to be fairly new, so it may have been better with a more experienced staff member, but she was not able to make any suggestions for color, and had to check the options for aromatherapy (and then used so little I could smell the aromatherapy used for the client two chairs down from me, but not my own). I'm also surprised that the $45 signature pedicure doesn't include any sort of leg massage. I can see why this place is so popular (when I called for an appointment, there was a 3 week wait for a week day appointment!), but as much as I appreciate the non-toxic products, my experience wasn't worth the price. read more

Varnish exceeded my expectations! It was a beautiful relaxing space with a friendly and talented staff! Cara did my nails and they look better than they've ever looked! I wish I could go weekly! She made a homemade chamomile and lemongrass scrub that she used on my hands and arms...it smelled incredible and left my skin silky! I assume they have different strengths. The man did such a great job making my feet and legs feel amazing. Mine was finished in about 45 seconds on both feet. All the workers stand and wait for a tip after they have run you through like cattle. The way I see it if you cut my service to rush never expect a tip. The owner can give you a tip out the of service money. This is a very convenient place and I have been loyal but someone else may need to open up a salon in this area to complete.

And I truly enjoyed this place from The phone call to set up an appt, to arriving early (got us right in after greeting) & having enough people for every pedicure chair & nail table (no empty spots!). Our two people were absolutely wonderful! They were efficient, very thorough & kind. I actually have an ingrown nail that when longer starts to hurt a bit. I was at that point & was concerned the pedicure might hurt more than normal. Not a chance! She was very thorough & yet no pains. And when I mean thorough, I mean it. She went back 3 times just to make sure my nail was handled properly (& I hadn't even yet mentioned the issue. I typically wait to see what they'll do before saying anything. This time I didn't have to ask for more work on it. It was perfect!!! I've been waiting to find my new nail place after relocating from another state. I now have my new go to nail salon & will absolutely set up appts every single time I have a Dr appt in the area. I can't wait to go back again!!!

I came in for pedicure and wanted ombré, however Kief directed me to another service that was acceptable. The staff didn't do much talking amongst each other and were instead engaged with their clients. That made for a welcoming and pleasant vibe in the shop. It's nice sized and there were many staff to attend to clients. There is plenty of parking in the lot out front. I loved the massage and care that were given to my paws by Kief.

I was a walk in and was in a chair within 5 minutes! Sasha greeted me and got to work. She asked great questions and did exactly what I asked for! The salon was clean, plenty of staff and stations, lots of color and style options. Overall wonderful experience! I sincerely think it was the quickest full set of nails I have ever had and they look great!

When my nails were done they looked great but the problem is that did not last. Within 1.5 weeks I had 6 chipped nails. After 2 days I received the first chip, went back and got it fixed. The next day I got another chip, went back and got it fixed. I had to travel for work and during that time I got 4 more chips. I am removing all the dip as soon as possible. This is not my first time getting dip but this is my first time with so many different chips, especially so soon after getting my nails done. I will not be back.

They are not really open to walk-ins (although the sign says it) because they are solidly booked with appointments, especially later in the week. I rarely know what color I want but my nail tech Many always gets it right. My cuticles look good; the color stays on strong between appointments and for the most part, I'm not waiting forever before my appointment starts. I'm very happy that I found them.

Ryan, who did my SNS, was very friendly and easy to talk to, and did a GREAT job on my nails. The gentleman who did my pedicure was also friendly, but I was there with a girlfriend and her daughter, so I didn't get to chat with him. Prices are extremely reasonable (rare these days!) and the quality of work is top notch. They prefer working by appointment, but will take walk-ins if you're ok with waiting. As they are located so close to my new house I can see this becoming my go-to spot (although I really love my old spot, lol).
