I absolutely LOVED my first experience here and will definitely be making all future appointments with Matilda. I wasn't exactly sure what I wanted (or needed) but she came up with an exact plan based off our consultation. She made me feel very comfortable by telling me exactly what she was doing as she went which was very reassuring. Matilda was very meticulous and methodical with her techniques and it definitely showed in the final product! I wish we took before and after photos! I came in with grown out blonde highlights on my naturally dark brown roots and wanted them to blend and look more natural. She softened my root color, toned down the grown out highlights at the top and blended the rest with bayalage and it came out PERFECT! I never felt rushed and she took a lot of time on my hair- washed and dried twice to get what we wanted! She didn't push product or services which was nice because a lot of upscale salons like to do that. Oh, I also came in on Mother's Day and she still didn't rush me even though she has a daughter at home :) I can't remember the girls name who washed and helped with my hair but I could tell she was very experienced and works with Matilda regularly because their teamwork was so fluid. Since it was my first time, I was offered a free blowout. Which was kind of odd considering all places should dry your hair and somewhat style it before you leave. But Alinda was wonderful! Very sweet and gentle with my hair. She just finished school and I can tell she will do great things as she works her way up :) Ok my raving is over! A TOTAL GAME CHANGER!! I went to Vesken because I saw all the amazing reviews so I had high expectation and boy were they met!! The staff is friendly and accommodating. Bulent gave me EXACTLY what I was looking for. I was taking a risk and wanted a new look with 5 inches off. I showed him a photo of what I wanted and he was on point! Everything he did, he did with precision and care. With each step, Bulent would tell me what he was doing so I didn't want to watch his every move. I've been doing keratin for 4 years and been from salon to salon. On September 1st 2018 I had my first keratin treatment at Vasken with Vasilios. -So first easy parking lot or valet parking available. -Walking into the salon I'm greeted and walked to the wash right away, every one already knew what specifically to do with my hair to get it ready for vasilios, which included several clarifying shampoos and deep conditioning pre-keratin treatments, a few of them because I have a lot of hair. -When that was done I had an iced cappuccino, and eventually mimosas.. heaven. Yes. -Now during the process Vasilio took all the extra time and care needed for my damaged type 4a hair. The keratin complex did made my hair come back to life as soon as he applied it. -He worked on it strand by strand to get it straight. He definitely had a different technique than other salons I've been to and it worked very well. He learned from his mother.., salon owner for 45 years and has all the love for this practice. -Then, He flat ironed my hair as well and gave me a haircut following all my requirements: keep it long but looking different and fuller, and bangs but just-a little , easy to care for, etc etc. -Currently I'm following the 72 hours recommended watch and got the products to care for them. And a few extras that I wanted like a leave in and a dry shampoo that he was happy to help me choose as well. I spent my Saturday morning there and it was well worth it. I've gotten praises about my hair from everyone around me and I feel very happy about the result. He said may last up to 5-6 months if shampooed once weekly. THANK YOU GUYS! I would not have written a review but you guys sent me this link and I Am upset and am not happy at all with the hair cut I received. It was not thorough, and I left with the same uneven hair , I had gone in with. I was suppose to get my hair cut in March and because of Covid I could not come , so it was 8 months and I had cut some of the pieces myself and my hair was getting very tangled. I mentioned this when I got there that my hair needed to be evened out. I got a dry cut but asked when I arrived if I can get the curls evened out after the dry cut. After the dry cut was done, I asked again to wet my hair to even out the ends. This usually entails Wetting it and lightly trimming the ends so that ends are not uneven and then knots can't form from long and short pieces getting caught into each other. My hair was wet down after my cut but it was not evened out at all. i asked again to use a comb and a scissor, but was told to tilt my head over a chair, and the dry cut technique was used again. The next client was there so I was rushed out. When I got home, in all my curls, there was 3" differences in a each single curl. All this does is continue to create fairy knots and tangles that inevitably pull your hair out.. I get that it is a curly cut, but very little attention was given to details, to my request even when I asked several times. I was not happy at all with my hair cut I received, and need another one to get it all evened out. its just not right. read more

Unfortunately I have to give a review, I promised Mauro, but he won't be happy- but I decided to be honest to myself... I went for a haircut 2 months ago, I had very long hair and needed a cut...I chose this salon based on reviews and decided to give them a chance... Mauro was my stylist that day, I asked him for a short style so I would not need to blow dry or pull my hair into a ponytail. He was super nice, even read my aura, we talked about life and he cut my hair. He cut my hair into a simple shoulder length "bob".... Unfortunately he didn't do anything extra to make the style modern or unique. Also, I realized, he didn't listen to my request at all... Somehow he managed to ruin my hair so badly, the shape of my cut reminds me of a broom. Since then I'm trying to grow my hair back so I can have a nice, modern cut , that would be easy to style . I'm giving this salon 2 stars because it is beautifully designed place, and the owner is very kind and fun man....he has nice staff working for him... Had my curly hair cut by Lois this weekend and I'm so happy I found her. I hadn't gotten my hair cut in over a year because I have trust issues with haircutters but I left here feeling satisfied with the way she'd styled my hair. I've had devacurl haircuts before but it seemed that when they asked what I wanted my words always fell on deaf ears. Vasken was the colorist and let me just tell you if my hair had come out green I still would have given at least 3 stars because of how amazing Vasken is. My hair came out perfectly, I got highlights and then a balayage. I wanted blonde and I got blonde! Which is so refreshing considering how not blonde my hair had come out from the other place. I was recommended different products to protect my hair and bought some of them. Arta corrected my hair with her special touch of "strategically" highlighting my hair. The color is gorgeous! Several weeks later the color is still fresh & vibrant. I loved my entire experience at Vasken Salon. From the moment I walked in and received a warm welcome and a silky robe. I was brought through the salon to a chair. I was informed my stylist was going to be a couple minutes late (which was fine I was a wee bit early). On the way through the salon I met Vasken. Very kind and genuine owner. He took the time to speak with me a bit and I appreciated the personal touch. A brief moment on the salon. Beautiful, modern, clean and the natural light poured into the space. One I was at my stylists chair I was offered something to drink. I asked for an espresso. Promptly an espresso arrived as did a glass of ice water with lemon (nice touch). Mauro was my stylist. Soon as he arrived he came over and introduced himself. He then apologized profusely and explained his emergency. I said, it was fine there was no issue. We then discussed my hair. I was lamenting how my hair "used" to be. Mauro gave me a gave pep talk about no looking back and only looking forward to the great hair I do have. It was a positive affirmation no stylist has ever taken the time to give me. Next it was time to wash my hair. I love having my hair washed by someone else. It feels so nurturing. My only thing I wish she would have scrubbed a little but harder. Now for the cut.... Mauro has amazing talent. He was able to take my long lifeless hair and give it a major resuscitation. My long locks are now alive with contoure, shape and layers so there is bounce and body. I have lived in Westchester for 2 years and never found a salon or stylist I loved. This was my first time at Vasken Demirjian and I was here for a haircut. The complete experience right from when I entered until I left was simply awesome! My stylist was Mauro and I really did not have to explain anything much to him. He is an expert. He listens, suggests and consults on what suits best for the hair type and facial structure. I have long locks and pretty much the haircuts that I have had before were mundane. Mauro has given me a great cut which is manageable and looks perfect...I love it!!! I just tried this salon for the first time, and I can say that it was hands down the best salon experience I've had. The salon was clean, seats/sink comfortable, and all of the staff incredibly pleasant. I got a haircut by Mauro, who was extremely helpful and clearly very experienced. He took the time to listen to exactly what kind of haircut I wanted, discussed it with me (so I felt comfortable that he knew what I was looking for), and gave me exactly the haircut he told me he would. He was really helpful in answering other questions I had, such as hair color suggestions (and what to eat at Brazilian restaurants :) ). Overall, the experience was wonderful, to say the least! I never had to wait more than 30 seconds for the next step (from checking in, being greeted by Mauro, having my hair washed, being given a delicious cappuccino, to getting my hair cut/dried). The only downside was that it's pretty pricey, and I'm not used to paying that much for haircuts. I will say, though, that I felt the experience was well worth the price. This review is a number of months late but I loved this salon so much, it's actually been on my review to-do list since then. I moved to NY 2 years ago and until then I was very attached to my hairdresser and had only let her touch my hair for 12 years. Needless to say I combed through a lot of reviews before picking Vasken salon...And I want sorry with my choice at all. I went in for a cut after night shift and I'm sure I looked like it, but I was treated by the entire staff like a princess. While sitting and waiting for cut, I was lucky enough to sit and chat with the owner, Vasken, who was delightful. He not only gave me tips on my desired hair cut and wear, but also ended up taking about culture and all sorts of other things. He loved my current color and told me I was absolutely not allowed to change it during that session or for a few months at least. We then talked about doing a Balayage color with him in the spring. The idea of the owner of a salon truly giving his opinion and not just selling more product won my respect instantly. My hair was cut by Bulent, who treated my head like a canvas. You could tell by his focus and technique that this was not just a hair cut to him. And I've always judged a really good hair cut by one that continues to look amazing as it grows out. Months later - still getting compliments... So this salon gets an A+ in all regards. I hope to go back in the next couple of weeks for coloring(I listened to Mr. Vasken's advice, obviously)--and I'm truly excited for what the results will be. As for price, I'm a resident pediatrician, so I don't quite have the budget I wish in all regards, but your hair represents who you are and is at least if not more important than any other piece of clothes you wear. I've been here twice- once for color with Vasken and just recently for a cut with Mauro. I have to say that I will never go anywhere else. My experiences both times were amazing. I got a haircut here and was not impressed. The receptionist and girl who washed my hair were nice, but my hairstylist was busy playing with his phone a lot and seemed like he wished he was somewhere else the whole time. The quality of the haircut matters to me more than anything else at a salon, beyond how nice the decor is or the smiles. And my hairstylist didn't really listen to what I said I wanted. He added extra bangs that I didn't ask for, and when I asked him what he was doing, he said that if it makes we uncomfortable we don't have to do it, but then he went right back to adding more more. I'm writing this review the day of my appointment- I legitimately JUST got home and feel the need to rave about this place. First of all, MELISSA is AMAZING!! Please, request her for color because she has a talent! I have naturally dark brown hair that lifts with multiple tones of red when highlighted with any bleach/dye, and I have been getting a full head of blonde highlights for the past two years. I like my highlights very ashy with none of that red, which is hard to accomplish. My last colorist was not doing the job at all. I'd go in for my roots and leave with the same murky brown roots all over my head and brassy too-light blonde color concentrated on the top of my head that didn't blend at all. When I went to Melissa, I had two inch dark roots, maybe even 3 inches at the bottom of my head. I needed a color correction badly! I used a groupon for a full head of highlights and a gloss (no blowdry or cut.) She didn't simply give me highlights and send me on my way. She saw that I needed more than highlights- I needed to fix my base color first to help blend the new highlights. She even brought me over to the owner, Vasken, who is incredibly professional and knowledgable. I can only imagine the coloring he does if his team is this good! Anyway, Vasken agreed with the base color idea and she went to work. She used a low developer to stop damage (very attentive to my personal hair needs!) and the entire salon uses non-ammonia odorless lighteners. Nothing hurt my scalp, eyes or nose. After the base, she did a half-head of highlights to compensate for needing to do a base in order to honor the groupon properly. My hair takes forever to do- I have a HUGE head of hair. She of course had a client after me that she tended to but was ALWAYS paying attention to me. The other client that she worked on had amazing hair as well when she was done. She was very focused. Vasken and Melissa both stressed something that I've never had a hair dresser say to me - that I need to change what I'm doing to my hair to make it work in the long run. I can't keep doing the highlights that will have my dark roots grow in and cost me an arm and a leg every month. Adding the base color makes it easier for me to just come in and get a root touch up single process and a crown of highlights. It's also less expensive for me. They really care about what your hair is gong to look like weeks after you leave. Needless to say, my hair came out exactly as I wanted it. She used the perfect toner that gave even my previously brassy hair that she didn't even dye, an ashy and cool color. Everything was brightened and refreshed, everything blended so well and I honestly couldn't be happier. I didn't purchase a blow out but she blow dried the top of my head to show me the color and then decided to finish the job free of charge. I couldn't believe how generous and wonderful she was to me. Very refreshing and respectable. I wish I had more cash on me to tip her way more and without a doubt the next time I'm back I will. I went to Vasken, for the first time, a few weeks ago. I had a haircut and colouring done. The colour came out soooo nice! I'm still super happy 3 weeks later!!! I'm a brunette, mom of 4 boys, so need something low maintenance. My hair tends to frizz in humidity, so I still need to go back and do a brasillian blow out, which I think will make the colour look even better as well as the haircut. The staff were so friendly and warm, the salon feels really upmarket, and they all have their area of expertise. I like that it was busy and energetic. I was offered multiple coffees and water. Parking is so easy as well, which is a big plus. I'm definetely returning!!! My wallet hurt a little and I wouldn't dare to tell my husband how much I spend on my hair :-) read more

I have been to a lot of salons and haven't found one that I am truly happy with ....until a friend recommended this one. The staff is courteous and really nice. I felt welcomed... unlike other salons that you feel like the staff is prissy and too good to serve you as a customer. It is clean and someone greets you right away. Trust me I know there is nothing worse then being on time for an appointment and having the staff be late. If you are styling your hair or just doing a blow out go see Sabit... he is amazing with a blowdryer and my curls never hold but when he does it for some reason they last all day and it feels and looks natural. I really did not want to mention his name bc now I am afraid he may get too busy and not have appointments available for me anymore. Well hope you guys enjoy and have the same great experience I did! I have really curly hair that I had ruined by spending two years constantly straightening it. Lois at Vasken absolutely saved my hair. I first started going to her when she was at the Deva salon in White Plains that closed. I knew I had to stick with her when she went to Vasken because she does the best job. I genuinely get complimented on my curls everywhere I go. I only have to see here 2 or 3 times a year to maintain the cut, and she does an amazing job every time (I can go 4 to 6 months between visits depending). In the past, I used to have to get trims every 6-7 weeks to maintain my curly hair layers to avoid it looking messy, but Lois knows how to cut curly hair so that it will continue to look good as it grows out in between cuts. I am very particular with the color and look of my hair and not easily satisfied. I like it blonde without it looking like i am from the 1950's. I want it striking and its so personal that either a colorist gets it or they miss it. I have to say Vasken made me feel and look like i just left my old 5th Avenue Salon in NYC . I had a designated hair stylist but he left. So I tried a different one. I told her I wanted "lots of layers because my hair is kind of all the same length". She told me she understood and that my hair was long enough where layers wouldn't look choppy. What I ended up with was long layers that are ~1.5" from the base of my hair and I told her she could decide how short to make the face frame and she chose to not make it any shorter. My hair *literally* looks the same. Unfortunately I had my glasses off for the entire cut. I couldn't see how she was cutting and when I put my glasses on after the blow dry I was thoroughly disappointed. What a waste of $100+ read more
