I received a confirmation email back from the Nancy Leavitt Agency stating that my KTM 690 Duke has been cancelled and that any refund will be mailed to the address on file. My yearly insurance policy renewal is on 3/28/25, so on Monday (3/17/25) I logged in to my online American Family Insurance portal to make sure the auto-renewal took place and to print my new insurance cards. To my dismay, there was no policy and every tab was blank. I immediately called the Nancy Leavitt Agency, which went to voicemail, so I sent two emails to the Nancy Leavitt Agency asking for someone to call me ASAP. A couple hours later I received a call from Nancy Leavitt. She confirmed that her agency didn't just remove the insurance on the one bike (KTM 690 Duke), but cancelled the whole policy. She then went directly in to trying to sell me more coverage and talking about covering "customizations". I was dumbfounded by her behavior! There was zero explanation, sympathy and/or apology for putting me in this immense situation of not having insurance for 7 months! Also, I never received a cancellation letter, a cancellation email, a cancellation text, a cancellation phone call, or a cancellation email from my policy portal. If I would have, I would have been able to purchase a new policy elsewhere and not be riding a motorcycle without insurance. I received two calls from a regional person aka..."retention representative" regarding this issue and his only goal was to try to get me back as a customer, even after I told him I already purchased a new policy with another company (3 times cheaper & more coverage) and I would never do business with AFI again. The gall this guy had was incredible! AFI has a "used car dealership" mentality. I highly recommend you look elsewhere for your insurance needs!

I had a renters insurance policy through this office that covered both myself and my fiancé, as required by our property management company. While attending a dinner party in West Seattle, I came back to my car to find the window smashed and over $1,200 worth of personal belongings stolen. I'd never had a break-in before and didn't realize that renters insurance--not auto--covers theft from a car. I filed a claim through State Farm, and they issued a check for only $600, which already felt low considering how much was taken. But I figured it wasn't worth the fight because everything could be replaced, and this wasn't a common occurrence for me. Then, several months later, I received a letter from the Bainbridge office stating that my policy would be canceled in 45 days and would not be renewed. The reason? "Excessive claims." I was stunned. That break-in was the first and only claim I had ever filed in more than ten years of being a loyal, paying customer. I couldn't believe what I was reading. I called the office and pleaded with them to reconsider. I was treated like a number, not a person. The agency owner flat-out refused. I was being punished for using the insurance exactly as it's meant to be used. This experience has made me lose all trust in this local agency. She apologized for the poor communication, which I appreciate--though I'm not sure why the administrative assistant (whose role I assume is to communicate/schedule on behalf of the accountant) is less communicative than the accountant herself? They are very responsive when trying to get your business, but as soon as you pay they disappear off the face of the earth. I have no idea what the status of my tax return is, nor whether the proper returns were even filed. One of the state tax departments reached out to me asking me to pay more and Dimov tax will not even confirm whether they filed that return, nor advise me on what should be done. The "administrative assistant" assigned to my case has not responded to my emails for a week, and when I try to call her it instantly gets sent to voicemail. I'm not sure what kind of people get 5-star treatment here, but it's certainly not everyone. In the past, we've also tried to schedule calls due to difficulty communicating and getting answers over emails, but the staff made it extremely difficult to do so, asked for what our questions were over email, and then gave non-answers to the questions and cancelled the meeting saying that the questions were already answered. I wanted to give the benefit of the doubt that it was peak tax season when we reached out and hence we had difficulty reaching them, but the pattern is very clear: when they want payment, they will respond; after payment is given, service drops to almost zero. I would highly advise you to stay away from this business.
