    Great art déco atmosphere

My daughter and I were looking for a place that serves mussels, and we were lucky she found that art déco brasserie in the opera area.We started with oysters that came with mignonette, bread and butter, perfect as a light appetizer. The mussels were tasty, with a light cream sauce. Service was friendly and professional. We'll definitely go back when in Paris!

My favorite casual French restaurant next to my hotel Le Capucine was closed for remodeling, so I had to find an alternate dining option. The concierge of the hotel recommended this place so we decided to try it out. I didn't bother to make reservations because my idea of a good casual dining place is that I don't need to make reservations and that they will accept reservations. This is with the understanding that you the patron are willing to accept a potential wait as well. What is important to note is that even though that establishment oddly advertises it's hours as 8am to 12am it's kitchen hours are actually on 12 - 3pm for lunch and 7- 11pm for dinner. I discovered this the hard way... showing up a 6:10 only to find out that I could only order cocktails... Anyways came back at 7 without reservations and got seated on the patio. The Maitre D acted as I had personally wounded him by not making a reservation?... President Macron has outlawed the use of outdoor heaters so outdoor dining may not be as cozy as it once was. Fortunately it wasn't too cold this evening and the patio is enclosed so things were well enough. We weren't starving so we went the 2 choice formula to be able tryout the specialties without going overboard. I ordered the sausage and potatoes for my main and a floating island for dessert. First time trying this famous dessert. Sadly I have no point of reference to determine if this was top notch or not other than what I've read and seen on video. The sausage was a little boring, not super flavorful, the sauce it was served with was a little bland but had a lovely silkiness to it. The baked crust seemed heavy and not particularly memorable. I'm not sure if it was even needed except to make the dish more filling. In which case they could have just served the sausage with some beans instead. Anyways the lightly dressed green salad a steamed potatoes were actually quite good in flavor with delicate yet clear flavors. The floating island is a very cool dessert. It looks HUGE but is actually just an airy pillow of merengue floating in a pool of creme englaise with caramel sauce drizzled over top and toasted candied almond slices. I thought that it was very fun in appearance in how you ate it. It's ultra light texture combined with delicious creme englaise and sweet caramel is really a pleasure to eat and the toasted almonds helped to add a textural note every once in a while. My wife ordered the mussels in chablis and a mango veloutte for dessert. The mussels must be in season because they were extremely fresh, plump and juicy. My wife loved them but was unable to finish since the portion is so generous. As for the Mango Veloutte... Mangos aren't really in season. So there's that....

We thoroughly enjoy this place in the 2nd. When in Paris, we are regulars here and get a welcoming acknowledgement and great service. ...and occasional champagne flutes on the house!!! Of course, we Always have reservations when planning a dinner here. Don't just show up and expect to be seated without a reservation. You may be turned down and publicly embarrassed in that classic, brusque French manner. Don't be that person. This place is casual, great value for money. Stepping in here is a trip back in time with French classics. The bar is great to just stop in for a drink or two before heading elsewhere. Service is attentive and thoughtful even though the place gets packed. For special occasions, as with anywhere, the more planning you do the better the outcome. Don't just show up announcing a birthday, anniversary, or vesting of your tech options...and expect the red carpet treatment. Plan in advance as the place does get quite busy. Ambiance is great with patrons mostly French during our numerous times here. Though, menus are available in both French and English. Some English is spoken here.... enough to order comfortably and feel welcome. Come here and get a real taste of France!!

Classic French experience! My husband and I walked out of another restaurant the same night after a terrible food-related experience. On our way back to the hotel, we passed Vaudeville and decided to give their desserts a try, in an attempt to save our night. I explained to the host what had happened to us and the rest if the evening we were treated like royalty at Vaudeville. We had the Mousse Soufflée and the Profiteroles. Both dishes were exactly as they should be and we scraped our plates clean. We also had some drinks (champagne and Belgian beer). Thanks to this place, our evening was saved!

I've been coming here for over 12-15 years, I visited Vaudeville two weeks ago and was somewhat disappointed in the waitstaff, they lost their proudness the professionalism. It was almost like going into a fast food place like Red Lobster, didn't even meet the level of a Cheesecake Factory. After all these years, it really hurts for me to give them a three star.

We started with Oeufs mayonnaise, which is a hard boiled egg topped with mayo. This was quite a simple dish, but definitely got us prepped for the meal. They initially made a mistake on our order and sent us the veal fingers. After rectifying the mistake, they ended up comping it, so we got an additional appetizer to try. The fried fish went well with the tartar sauce. For the mains, we got the bavette frites with bearnaise sauce and steak tartare with frites. Both dishes were delicious and satisfying, the flavors were excellent and each bite had me wanting more. If you haven't tried tartare before, give it a try here because it was delish! For dessert, we shared the Paris-Brest, a choux pastry topped with mousseline, pralines and roasted hazelnuts. We enjoyed sharing it and it made for a sweet end to our dinner. Overall, this was a great meal to start our trip, everything we had was delicious and my expectations were met!

The staff was all very friendly and inviting and were happy to recommend their favorite dishes to us. My wife ordered a French onion soup and one of their famously large salads, which are served in these big bowls. I decided to try the chef's special, which was a beef tenderloin a la rossini (truffle sauce and foie gras). I'm not typically a foie gras fan, but I figured since we're in Paris that I'd give it a shot. I'm very glad I did because it was absolutely delicious. The steak melded perfectly with the truffle sauce and fois gras. This was all served with potatoes au gratin, and blanched green beans. Everything was perfect. I also ordered two large beers. A Grimbergin blonde and a Kronenbourg ale. I love how both beers were served in their respective brand's glasses. Such a nice touch. For dessert, we ordered an Apple Tarte Tartin, upon a recommendation from one of the staff. It was light, sweet, and served with some ice cream and créme fraîce. This was such a great dinner all around. Great food, great vibes, which all lead to a great evening. Would definitely recommend!

For New Year's Eve they offered a special menu, 79 € per person. The host outside who convinced us to splurge for the special occasion said our kiddo wouldn't pay full price. Spoiler: that's not how it went. We were seated in back by the restrooms, with the sound of the hand-dryer serenading our meal. From what I could tell, apart from the staff, there wasn't a single French-speaking person in the whole place, a bad sign. For appetizers we had the escargots, which could have benefited from more garlic and butter, the foie gras, which was fine, and the smoked salmon, which was a generous portion, and very smokey. For my main, I ordered the duck in honey sauce, which would have been a good plate, served with salad, but for some reason they plated it with cold vegetables: green beans, bell pepper, and eggplant under congealing butter--Tasted like it was made ahead of time and they forgot to reheat it out of the fridge before scooping onto my plate. Total fail. My kiddo got the knuckle of lamb, which was fatty and gristly, although the mashed potatoes underneath were delicious, and my wife chose the fettuccine with shrimp and scallops, which were both overcooked and the scallops were crunchy, which was weird, served over way too much plain noodles. The desserts were good, but we paid over 240 € for three, with only one drink each, making it both the most expensive and also least delicious meal of our trip so far. Staff were friendly and attentive, and all addressed us in English, even though I'm fluent in French, which makes sense for a tourist trap. Would not recommend, unless maybe you just get the big cheap salad, seemingly that's what the 5-star reviews are for.

No tourists; only locals and repeat French customers. We sat outside. ORDERED: *FOIE GRAS House made and simply DIVINE on freshly toasted baguette bread. I wanted to take a bath in this. OMG! *DUCK CONFIT Beautiful leg served with scalloped potatoes. The meat could have been a bit more tender, but overall a good solid entree. *FRUIT TART Good, but not great. The pastry could have baked a bit longer. Loved the sweet plums though. We also ordered a bottle of their excellent Cabernet France for 17 euros. My darling didn't care for their espresso and I was not impressed with their version of a cappuccino. Dinner altogether was 73 euros. OTHER NOTES ============= Some of their staff members are from Le Mascote restaurant, but since the restaurant is currently closed; they cooked and served here.
