If you like seafood, this is the place for you. I came here on the recommendation of a co-worker and it did not disappoint. I had the oyster tasting platter, razor clams and a few escargot from my mom's starter order. We both ordered the mussels and I swear there were 4 dozen in each order! One order is enough for 3 people. For dessert, we had the crepes Suzette, raspberry tarte, and a scoop of vanilla glacé and raspberry sorbet. Our server Alan was fabulous! Very attentive and friendly. We had a table by the patio. Definitely make reservations especially for patio seating. I highly recommend this wonderful brasserie. This was the first dinner I had in Paris and it was just okay. The food could have been more flavorful and the pate dish was definitely an acquired taste. We also ordered fish and chips and the tartar sauce completed the dish. The server was kind and the ambiance was nice in the covered outdoors in the front. We loved this place where you could find conventional French brasserie food and a busy Parisian atmosphere at decent prices. Our latest recent experience was a catastrophe. The place is still over packed, but apparently they try to save on the quality of the ingredients. We ordered a "magret de canard", which was so tough that you couldn't cut it with a sharp knife. After returning it, they offered to replace it with an "onglet de boeuf", which was nice. The problem is that the piece of meat was literally rare, undercooked, inedible for humans. The maître D agreed with us and apologized and took that order of the bill. My filet was fine, a baby portion for 38 Euros. Unfortunately, things are changing for the worse. I was first a guest, then went as a couple, then often took large parties there during conferences...its always a steady, reliable place ot go Anyway, we went with some American friends who also spend a lot of time in Paris...they had also been there before..and are real foodies Nobdy held back and we had dishes from far and wide across the menu - and unusually for us anyway, that included 3 courses... All good, except for one thing with the mains; our food arrived but the other two had a small wait - that in itself was odd...but when they brought the final mains dish...oops...wrong meal! My daughter and I were looking for a place that serves mussels, and we were lucky she found that art déco brasserie in the opera area.We started with oysters that came with mignonette, bread and butter, perfect as a light appetizer. My favorite casual French restaurant next to my hotel Le Capucine was closed for remodeling, so I had to find an alternate dining option. The concierge of the hotel recommended this place so we decided to try it out. I didn't bother to make reservations because my idea of a good casual dining place is that I don't need to make reservations and that they will accept reservations. This is with the understanding that you the patron are willing to accept a potential wait as well. What is important to note is that even though that establishment oddly advertises it's hours as 8am to 12am it's kitchen hours are actually on 12 - 3pm for lunch and 7- 11pm for dinner. I discovered this the hard way... showing up a 6:10 only to find out that I could only order cocktails... Anyways came back at 7 without reservations and got seated on the patio. The Maitre D acted as I had personally wounded him by not making a reservation?... President Macron has outlawed the use of outdoor heaters so outdoor dining may not be as cozy as it once was. Fortunately it wasn't too cold this evening and the patio is enclosed so things were well enough. We weren't starving so we went the 2 choice formula to be able tryout the specialties without going overboard. I ordered the sausage and potatoes for my main and a floating island for dessert. First time trying this famous dessert. Sadly I have no point of reference to determine if this was top notch or not other than what I've read and seen on video. The sausage was a little boring, not super flavorful, the sauce it was served with was a little bland but had a lovely silkiness to it. The baked crust seemed heavy and not particularly memorable. I'm not sure if it was even needed except to make the dish more filling. In which case they could have just served the sausage with some beans instead. Anyways the lightly dressed green salad a steamed potatoes were actually quite good in flavor with delicate yet clear flavors. The floating island is a very cool dessert. It looks HUGE but is actually just an airy pillow of merengue floating in a pool of creme englaise with caramel sauce drizzled over top and toasted candied almond slices. I thought that it was very fun in appearance in how you ate it. It's ultra light texture combined with delicious creme englaise and sweet caramel is really a pleasure to eat and the toasted almonds helped to add a textural note every once in a while. My wife ordered the mussels in chablis and a mango veloutte for dessert. The mussels must be in season because they were extremely fresh, plump and juicy. My wife loved them but was unable to finish since the portion is so generous. As for the Mango Veloutte... Mangos aren't really in season. So there's that.... read more

We thoroughly enjoy this place in the 2nd. When in Paris, we are regulars here and get a welcoming acknowledgement and great service. ...and occasional champagne flutes on the house!!! Of course, we Always have reservations when planning a dinner here. Don't just show up and expect to be seated without a reservation. You may be turned down and publicly embarrassed in that classic, brusque French manner. Don't be that person. This place is casual, great value for money. Stepping in here is a trip back in time with French classics. The bar is great to just stop in for a drink or two before heading elsewhere. Service is attentive and thoughtful even though the place gets packed. For special occasions, as with anywhere, the more planning you do the better the outcome. Don't just show up announcing a birthday, anniversary, or vesting of your tech options...and expect the red carpet treatment. Plan in advance as the place does get quite busy. Ambiance is great with patrons mostly French during our numerous times here. Though, menus are available in both French and English. My wife and I had two days in Paris together, and Vaudeville came at the recommendation of our Air BnB host. We decided to give it a shot, and came prepared with our minimal French language skills paired with the Google Translate app. Our waiter was lovely, patient, and spoke just a bit of English so with our powers combined we navigated the menu and had one of our best dinners in France! We started with one of the oyster platters to share, paired with white wine, and it was some of the best oysters I've had! After that, my wife ordered the roast duck, and I had the mussels with fries. The portions were perfect, and I had plenty of bread to soak up all the delicious sauce at the bottom of my bucket of mussels. Classic French experience! My husband and I walked out of another restaurant the same night after a terrible food-related experience. On our way back to the hotel, we passed Vaudeville and decided to give their desserts a try, in an attempt to save our night. I explained to the host what had happened to us and the rest if the evening we were treated like royalty at Vaudeville. We had the Mousse Soufflée and the Profiteroles. Both dishes were exactly as they should be and we scraped our plates clean. We also had some drinks (champagne and Belgian beer). Thanks to this place, our evening was saved! read more

Its best days are behind it... We found this place for a friends reunion in Paris and I reserved two weeks ahead. On the day of, they scrunched us by the waiter's serving table despite there being better seating that was clearly available. This brasserie is open all afternoon but the waiter kept asking us to hurry our order. We got an oyster platter and several other dishes and a couple bottles of wine. At first they brought the most expensive seafood platter available even though we hadn't selected it. I felt they were trying to upsell us, but we sent it back. When the mussels and fries dish came out, it was cold. The sauce had congealed and the fries were soggy. I didn't try the other dishes but they looked fine, just very expensive for what it was. This was our first dinner in Paris after landing from the US and it was AMAZING. We started with a dozen oysters, then the chestnut veloute, salmon tartare, foie gras, and sweetbread casserole - what an amazing sauce those were cooked in! Our entree was the special of the day, beef stew, and it was perfect - came with delicious marrow, too. We finished with Stephan's recommendation - profiteroles- and the whole night was just heaven. Across the street of the Bourse Building sit this 1920's classic restaurant. The service was friendly and efficient. The food was also very good. Their burratta was a great start to our dinner. My duck with chanterelles was prepared to my smiling satisfaction. My daughter's lamb with ratatouille was even better than my lamb. My wife and son both ordered the salmon and my son thoroughly enjoyed his dinner. For dessert, we shared a chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream - yummy. So if you want to wait incessantly for mediocre food on your son's birthday, when they know it's your son's birthday and then get your credit card charged twice, this is the place for you. You might get a broken wine glass and cut your finger only to not get a bandaid when you ask for it. Our server knew it was a disaster and he was still incompetent at rectifying. The manager was a little more apologetic...then the lights went out and they brought out a cake. I thought it was for my son but guess what. Nope. For someone else. What an awful thing to do. This experience was so close to being a generous one star, but the manager greatly turned two angry customers into two happy customers. When we originally got to the restaurant we had a reservation and were sat quickly. We were given a menu with no English, but being the foodie I am, I scanned through the menu and quickly decided. I called for the waiter just as the table next to us had done and every time he would say "one minute". A table of his four friends were sat next to us and he greeted them and rushed back with champagne for them very quickly. It was at this point we got up and left. We had been sitting there 20 minutes and had not even been offered water. The manager noticed our disgust and anger and asked me what happened. She then offered us another table and a glass of champagne while we waited. I'm so glad that we ended up staying. The filet my mom and I both ordered was cooked perfectly and was great quality. The Port reduction sauce was soooo delicious and the mashed potatoes were too. We had 6 Claire No 2 oysters that were also very good. Our second server was very attentive and friendly. Good food, beautiful original 1920s decor, in the theater district but a good distance away from the tourist areas. The staff was so genuinely friendly and helpful, we felt like special guests. So reasonably priced we thought they made a mistake with the tab (they didn't). It was fun to see ladies dining while their little dogs sat there with them. The best meal we had in in town. After a long day of walking we came to this resto to enjoy all it had to offer. Lots of friends come here,so with reservation for two I was eager to start this culinary journey. I'll give this place 5 stars for effort and only 3 for the food. Everything is a bit over the top. The fish came drenched in butter aside of a purée with truffle oil! It just didn't marry well. The restaurant is beautiful. The food was hit or miss. The cod and potato croquettes and Buratta with roasted tomato appetizer were delicious. My husband and I each ordered a steak cooked medium. My husband's was perfect mine was well done. The cod with puréed potatoes was delicious and the prawns were overdone. The food was average to above average but the service was appalling. Our waiter was stressed and rude. He saw that we were looking at the price fix menu and immediately shouted that they were out of the mussels and the leg of lamb special of the day as he flew past us to move to the next table. That left only one item for the main course, steak tartare. I tried to catch him as he flew past us again to ask if there were substitutions for the items that were missing and he very abruptly said No that's all there is. It was obvious that he wanted us to order from the pricier a la carte menu. There was no apology for lack of choices, no kindness on his part, no smile , no patience. He was abrupt and rude. I would give this restaurant 3 1/2 stars for the food but a 1 star at best for the service. We are not likely to return or recommend. read more

Sloppy job: I visit Paris once in a blue moon and don't have a local cell. My buddy makes a reservation at 1:00p. I show up at 1:00 sharp. He shows up at 1:01. Problem is: we both ask for the reservation at the same name and... they put us on different tables. I have a busy day, leave after seeing no one showing up only to find later that day that my buddy was there, waiting for me. How is that as a s**tty job? A restaurant that can't keep track of reservations and places the same party at different tables? Bottom line, I'll never set foot there anytime. Atmosphere is noisy with cramped tables: business model is "squeeze the most from each square foot" so you enjoy next table's conversation. Service was a disaster. Orders taken slowly, arrived all mixed up. Beer and wine ordered by two guests never arrived. Food quality poor. Very rude servers who spoke less French than did I, and I am quite modest in describing my abilities.. One insisted Sancerre was a red wine, indeed he imperiously pronounced it "The most famous red wine of France". Having previously enjoyed this white wine at many French restaurants, I humbly said "Perhaps there is also a white version you could serve us?" "No such thing", was his answer.
