Service was not great and quite rude from a woman server. We waited quite some time before she even took or order, althogh took orders from those arriving after. She seemed genuinely perturbed. The steak ordered was a bit tough, but the fries were tasty. The short rib dish was good and tasted rich, but the large serving of elbow macaroni (menu stated buttered shells) served with it really did not go and the noodles were not buttered. Finished up day one in Paris at Rouge Bis and loved it! Spent a huge part of of the day in Montmart, visiting Sacre Cour and a few bars. Picked up a few souvenirs and had a wonderful creamy Barrata here. Right across the street from Moulin Rouge so we sat outside. People watching was in full effect. Had a couple of my favorite French beers, 1664. Service was incredible! Prices were very reasonable for a heavily trafficked tourist location. Really enjoyed this bar and food. Reading some of the other reviews, I'd have to echo most of what's already been said. This is a great place to come and enjoy a bite to eat and a drink. It's clear that they are American-Tourist friendly. Their entire staff spoke English and made us feel very welcome. The restaurant is rather non-pretentious with solid seating both indoors and out. The menu was solid with something for everyone. I had a chicken sandwich, while my gf enjoyed a salmon salad. Both were great. If you're looking for a friendly place to eat and drink, you can't go wrong with Rouge Bis. I would say though that if you're looking for a more local place with local feel, you might be a little disappointed. Our trip had a good balance of both and I'm glad we stopped here. read more

TLDR: this place is AN ABSOLUTE MUST(!!!!!) if you are visiting Paris !!! Is it possible to rate a place higher than 5 stars? :") b/c I am still dreaming about the duck breast & polenta dish... This was the first meal I had in Paris and it is by far the BEST food I had when I was in Europe for a week. When people ask me what the best thing I ate in Paris was... the duck breast & polenta dish from Rouge Bis slips right off my tongue! I can't even fully explain how much I love this place! I split the duck dish with my friend along with a salmon salad that was extremely refreshing! These two dishes paired so perfectly together. The salad had LOADS of smoked salmon in it and also had grapefruit, red onions, avocado, and pomegranate seeds. It was nice to take bites of the salad with the fatty and gamey flavor of the duck. My friend and I were surprised with the amount of salmon that was in our dish because American restaurants would never be that generous lol. There was literally enough salmon to be in every bite! I had no idea what to expect because I never tried duck prior to Rouge Bis, but it quickly became my new favorite food. I saw a couple reviews stating this is a "MUST" while in Paris. It is in fact NOT a must, at least not post show. We stopped here for dinner after the Moulin Rouge. There is nothing special or magnificent about this restaurant other than the view and people watching after the show lets out. And let me say the people watching was great!! Large open air doors allow a great view of the street and the Moulin Rouge. That being said, like everywhere else in Paris smoking is not allowed inside, however people can stand right next to the open glass and allow the smoke to filter in to every table in the restaurant. The food was actually quite good and was served up quickly!! The staff was friendly and welcoming. The menu late in the evening (post show) is very basic, but again it was very good. This is a great restaurant if you are heading to Moulin Rouge or even just in the area. I had the duck confit. It was amazing. You did not need a knife to cut it. I also had a nice glass of red wine. I asked the waiter, Sasha what he recommended with the meal so I am not sure what the name of the wine was. My meal was 29 Euros. I thought that was a very good price compared to the US where that meal could have cost anywhere from $50-$80 where I live. Sasha was attentive and very helpful to a group of 6 girls. We opted to sit outside at a small table overlooking the Moulin Rouge. Tourists stopped to take photos. Our server spoke little English and I spoke less French. He was charming and efficient. We ordered two plates du jour hoping they were baked bass based on our translator. We had a glass of wine while we waited. The food arrived quickly. The roasted bass sat on a bed of young spinach and mixed grains. There were two sauces artistically woven throughout the plate as well as an aged balsamic and a lovely blend of nuts. This was the most beautiful lunch I have seen prepared. The fish was delicate and flavorful. The sauces were tasty and lovely paired with the grains and French bread. The meal was fantastic and only $12.90 Euros. I highly recommend this wonderful venue. I will be back and dream of the food for many years. We decided not to do the show at the Moulin Rogue because it was hellaciously expensive. But I still very much wanted to SEE the Moulin Rouge while we were in Paris (call me a romantic OK). So we made a point to go up to Monmartre and see the area around sunset one evening, which put us at the Moulin Rouge once it was dark and the building was all lit up. It was so beautiful. I took a billion pictures. Then we decided it would be good to grab a bite, and we ended up here - right across from the Moulin Rogue, at a table that afforded me a glorious view from across the street for our whole meal. First of all, such great food and service that we went twice on our week long trip to Paris. Get the cheese board - could be a whole meal for 2 people! Delicious. Second, we had the best waitress - Olga, who we may return a third time for - she was absolutely amazing!! We actually found some broken glass in the bottom of our bread basket which I'm sure was not at all her fault and had a miscommunication about the tip but she was so nice about it, it was clearly a one off issue but nonetheless she treated us so well! Best server we've had in all of Paris yet, girl deserves a raise I'm sure. Cheese board, lamb, steak, and duck have been out favorite items. There were a few good things like the wine and the potatoes, but the steak was super chewy and I had to send it back to actually get clicked because it arrived as almost a piece of raw meat. When it came back, it was still extremely raw but I was able to deal with it. my wife has the chicken which was not very tasty. It seemed dry. This restuarant is a truly most go in the Montmartre area. It is well decorated and well staffed, and our waiter was extra helpful.The food was nothing short of stunning. We had the escagot to start and it was delicious. For the main course I had the duck confit with potatoes. The duck was honestly one of the best I have ever had and melted in my mouth as I ate it. The potatoes were crisp and well seasoned and it was truly a 10/10 dish. My father had the salmon with ratatouille. The salmon was excellently cooked and the ratoutouille was delightful. It was both of ours first time trying it, but that did not stop us from enjoying it extensively. Grab a table for some of the best people watching in the neighborhood and get ready for an amazing meal. We visited twice during our time in Paris and this quickly became our favorite location. We both went for the veggie lasagna and it was the best decision that we made. I requested mine without pesto during our first visit and was happy to learn that they were able to accommodate this request without concern. On the second visit, I requested the same and we were informed that it was not possible (by a different server). This was beyond upsetting, so if you have a pine nut allergy, heed with caution. Being the brave soul that I am, I went for it regardless (because I'd already eaten it without topped pesto) and had no allergic reaction, so I ordered again exactly as I had it the first time. All in all, this was okay, BUT advice to the waitstaff is to learn how the dishes are actually prepared. It is a little scary for one server to say 'yes' and another to say 'no'... who knows what you're ingesting? I digress... Rouge Bis was recommended by the hotel where we lodged and it quickly became a favorite of ours upon visiting the neighborhood. On our second visit, we were offered two complementary shots. The menu is translated in English. The staff speak English and during our visits we never had to wait for a table. Most of the staff is cool. The food is average priced. My partner and I found this place on Yelp after a very long walking tour of the Montmartre area. Overall, we enjoyed our experience at this restaurant. First, the view of the Moulin Rouge was amazing through the glass walls. Second, our server was very nice and held a conversation with us about how much he wanted to visit California. As this was the first meal of our stay in Paris, our server definitely helped us feel welcomed and dissipated many of our initial doubts on communicating here with French we learned only during our years in high school. We started with the foie gras, and my partner thoroughly enjoyed his first time getting this dish. I ordered the duck steak and it was absolutely delicious. I was expecting an expensive restaurant that would be incredibly busy due to its proximity to Moulin Rouge. What I found was a great, diverse menu!! I was planning on getting a salad or burger, something simple. Until both tables surrounding me got food that smelled too good to ignore! That's how I happened upon the Chicken Wok, I believe it was called. It had great flavors, large portions, and reasonable pricing! I also ordered the Red Collins drink and it was a delicious tart strawberry daiquiri. I have no idea if the ingredients were similar, but that's what it reminded me of. First time other than Singapore that I see pink calamari. The manager met me at the door with such a lovely smile that we had to come in. First of all the dressing is delicate and light so as not to contend with the wonderful pungency of the arugula and well-marinated calamari. Then as you take small bites you taste the superbly light and mixed-in basil pesto that had just the right and lightest touch of crisp bits (almost nutty like pistachios maybe) so light it could well be croutons but hey! We were starving after leaving Moulin Rouge and found this place in Yelp. The location and ambiance in the place is incredible. 1- it is directly across the street from Moulin Rouge, 2- it is open late which is great because after the 11pm showing you can go and enjoy a delicious dinner, 3- the staff was very nice, & 4- the price was very reasonable. For starters we ordered the Duck Confit eggrolls, wow were they delicious. One thing I must add is they put this weird purple mash underneath it that I really did not like, at all (thats was the only downfall to the dish). So my wife got the gnocchi, I thought it was good however she loved it. If I am being picky, the only thing I thought was, there could've been a bit more sauce. I ordered the flank steak with mushroom risotto and OMGGG! It was delicious, the risotto was FULL of flavor. The steak was delicious as well, sidenote:: I screwed up because I ordered medium well (not knowing it was cut into strips). They cooked it perfectly, I should've went with my gut and stuck with medium but I got a steak that was practically rare the first night of dinner and decided to go medium well. Lastly, we topped the night off with an espresso martini, it was delectable. My wife and I have a thing for espresso martinis and this was by far the best one we have ever had!
