Vecchia Nuova is a really good Italian spot in Phoenixville. My cousin and I come here pretty often whenever I'm visiting the area, and it's always a place we enjoy. The food is flavorful and the overall vibe is great. The inside is on the smaller side and can get a little warm during the summer, but I think that's because so many people enjoy coming here. My favorite part is the outdoor seating. During the summer they close down the street, and it brings so much life to the area. It's fun to sit outside, enjoy your meal, and people watch while taking in the atmosphere. The menu has a nice variety of options, from pizza to pasta and other Italian favorites, so there's something for everyone. Everything I've had here has been fresh and satisfying. Our server, Ava, was super sweet and attentive. She checked on us throughout our meal, made sure we had everything we needed, and helped make the experience even more enjoyable. Overall, I think this is a really solid Italian restaurant and a great place to meet up with friends or family for dinner. Whenever I'm back in Phoenixville, it's definitely one of the places I like to visit. read more

i consider this one of phoenixville's "tourist traps" during the weekend road shutdowns. the pizzas were undercooked. and the outside area in the back next to the path is a disgusting mess. the ingredients actually seem to be quality, but the execution and experience is awful. this place really does have potential, but for now it feels like a money-grab by baking quick small pizzas during busy tourist times. read more

Phoenixville is very lucky to have Vecchia. If you're local to the area, and you're not signed up for their emails, you're missing out. Every week they have specials; $15 spaghetti and meatballs, $15 chicken parm, $12 pizzas. You're missing out if you're not on the Vecchia listserv! They're known for their pizza, and for good reason. Their recipe is simple, the technique is perfected, and the pizza is worth every calorie. If you're lucky enough to take one of their pizza classes (which I highly recommend!), you'll get an upclose look into the magic of their 'za and the fresh ingredients (and love) that go into making their pies. In nice weather, they offer outdoor seating which is nice because the inside can be quite small. I recommend reservations for peak times. Logistics to note: They have wine and beer. You can BYOB, but there is a charge. Parking is going to be street parking, if you're lucky. There is a large lot behind Vecchia that is $2/ hour - which will be your best bet. While dining in is lovely, the do offer takeout - including their special deals, which is generous! Fun fact: Vecchia is owned by the same person who owns Savona in Gulph Mills. We placed the take out order using Toast Takeout app which is straight forward. I went to the store a few minutes before the pick up time and they were just about to wrap things up. We ordered couple pizza, Ouva and one Margherita, both are of good size and delicious, especially the Ouva, probably the best around the area. The pasta is OK, nothing special. Fried calamari tastes good, but the portion is kind of small. Overall, very good Italian food, although we have take out, the servers there are very nice and polite. read more

I have been a long-time fan of Vecchia. I had the pleasure of eating here for the first time since it has reopened as Vecchia Nuova, and it continues to impress me. The food has always been amazing but the renovation has drastically improved the quality of the indoor dining experience. I am a devoted fan of the Regina and have never been let down by this order. It is some of the best, if not THE best, pizza I have ever had. It may be a little pricey, but it is worth it. A new gelato place opened next door to Vecchia Nuevo which is the perfect place to stop after dinner. Looking forward to my next visit here! read more

I had been wanting to try this place for a while. First Friday provided an opportunity to sit outside with a nice bottle of wine and enjoy the cuisine on a gorgeous summer evening. We ordered the octopus in fried artichoke hearts as our appetizers. The fried artichoke hearts we're perfectly done - but I think could've benefited from a dipping sauce which was not offered.The octopus was really good but relatively small for the price (get a significantly larger portion across the street at Avalos for not much more $). We ordered their top-of-the-line pizza (the Riviana that uses marzano tomatoes and Buffalo mozzarella. And while the pizza looks kind of cool, I was not impressed. The very scarce amount of sauce and buffalo mozzarella with a piece of basil -- on what I found to be a somewhat undercooked doughy crust -- was just not my cup of tea. My wife liked it but I would not frankly order it again. I don't know what their other pizzas are like. We did decide to do dessert and had the ricotta cheesecake and Panna cotta - both of which were good - although the ricotta cheesecake again would have benefited from an accompaniment of some sort, as it was very plain. Service was good and the staff was friendly enough. I just think with so many other options around this area particularly when it comes to pizza, the Wood fired aspect simply wasn't executed well enough to distinguish it. read more

Ate here earlier this week and it was delicious! However, we just ordered the exact same pizzas for takeout tonight and it was terrible. One of the pizzas was completely raw and soggy. The other one they completely skimped on the prosciutto, they used 1/3 of the amount they had used when we dined in. We will not be eating here again. read more

Coming from Italy, I feel like I have a clear understanding of what a good pizza is. And if the pizzeria claims to be owned by an Italian owner, the pizza should be above standards. I tried this place once over the summer and was delighted. Then I tried this place 4 more times since then and it clearly went downhill. Maybe the first try was luck. For the 4th time, pizzas have been nothing but saggy. See attached picture. Undercooked. Crust had no time to rise in the oven which tells me it was rushed, like the previous 3 times I tried this place. $15 for that is an absolute rip off. At this point, I feel like dominos pizza can do better. If you are starving, just order pasta from this place. Nobody can mess up pasta. If they do, we are really screwed. Wife and I had dinner here mid week. Arrived a 7:30 pm, they close at 8, and only 2 other people in the restaurant. Pizza was excellent. Spaghetti was good. Unfortunately the service was very poor. The staff was obviously more interested in closing up instead of providing good service. Ordered drinks and they finally arrive AFTER the entrees arrived. When i asked about the drinks I was told sorry, but they were "slammed". There were a total of 4 diners in the restaurant. I'd do takeout for their pizza here but based on the inexperienced and abrupt service, I would not return to dine in. read more

The staff at this place need a lesson in customer service! We were told we could bring our own bottles of wine as we've done for a long time. What we were not told is that they would charge a fee of $15/bottle!!!!!! I ordered a pizza for takeout with Gorgonzola cheese and mushrooms. This is what I got: 4 spots of regular mozzarella (not Gorgonzola) a few mushrooms and some burnt basil. Here are some pizza tips for Vecchia - You put basil on a pizza after it's baked. Your crust is mushy in the center and too thin. The slice flops over and all the toppings slide off. Their brick oven pizza - can't be beat! Our kids also love the spaghetti (& so do we - sauce is so good!) We had the arugula salad and the Caesar salad - both were fresh and delicious. We were used to the old regime and thought it was still a BYOB - so we brought wine. It had been years since we were last here but this was our second and last time for us. Started with a Caesar salad which was tasty, croutons were interesting, crunchy and chewy but still good. Unfortunately, it went downhill from there. First, 2 tiny glasses of Diet Coke for 2.50 each. If it was a can of soda in total, I would be shocked. Second, the pizza. Wife had marinara pizza which was soggy, from first bite, except the for the outside edge crust. I had the di latte margherita pizza which was the same, soggy from the first bite except the outside crust. Neither of us expect the entire pizza to be crispy from start to finish but the first slice or 2 should be crispy with a slow turn to soggy/droopy crust. We both had to tear off the flat part of the pizza and just dipped the outer crust into the sauce of the pizzas. Glorified crazy bread / breadsticks. Last of the issues, dogs in a restaurant. If we were outside, no issue. However, We were eating INSIDE and clearly not a service dog. read more

Vecchia Nuova is by far the best pizza in Phoenixville and probably one of the best overall restaurants in the area. Not only is the food wonderful, but the new owners are incredibly friendly and go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable. For examples, a couple of weeks ago we went there on a Friday evening when the streets were closed and were initially told that the outside was fully booked. As we sadly walked away looking for our back-up option, we saw the owner running down the street to catch us and inform us he was able to secure a table for us after all! On a busy evening like that, there was no need for him to chase us down as I am certain the table would have been filled soon, but we greatly appreciated that he did! Every pizza we have had has been fantastic -- the highlights are the Covaccino (garlic oil base with mozz, prosciutto, arugula), the Diavola (spicy soppresata and hot honey) and the pretty unique Vodka pizza (with their homemade vodka sauce). Beyond that, all of the pastas that we have tried have been fantastic, and their nepolatana style eggplant parm was outstanding. We honestly have not found a dish yet that we did not like. I also hesitate to share this little Vecchia secret, as I don't want it to fill up, but on Tuesday nights they have free wine night and offer complimentary, very nice wine, with your dinner! The food was great however this restaurant now has a 15$ BYOB fee which they didnt inform us when we said we brought our own wine. They removed the fee from the bill but this fee will remain their new policy. I still go but I wont bring my own BYOB. read more

This place is awful. I ordered a regular pizza with two toppings for pickup. On the menu a regular pizza is $11 but somehow with my two toppings it came to almost $25? what? It's small. Compared to regular pizzas, its very small. The dough was floppy and seemed undercooked and the curst was somehow burnt. The toppings that I paid so much for were sparing, they were barely there. It is incredible how the food has gone downhill. This restaurant had the absolute best pizza short of Naples Italy, closed and reopened to a slightly revised menu. Since then we have tried this restaurant a few times, once in person and a few times delivered by slice and I honestly can't believe how disappointing the food has become. Literally night and day. I never would judge a place after one meal as everyone has a bad day but unfortunately it has become apparent that this is the new norm and we will never go back. Definitely date night/once a month type of place instead of consistent/regular place you go to. Lower the toppings to $2 instead of $4 and you have a home run! Absolutely love everything about this place. I spend a lot of time in Italy, and this is the closest approximation to real Southern Italian cooking I've had in the greater Philadelphia area. The bufula mozzarella Margherita pizza is so delicious - better than any other other place in the suburbs- but the bolognese might be my favorite dish. The flavor is perfection. The owners and staff treat you like family. We drive 25 minutes constantly to come here - and we live in Malvern, which has a ton of Italian restaurants around the corner. read more
