I have subscribed to their auto-orders for about a year now (off and on) and all I can say is that almost all their dishes are incredibly good, satisfying, and healthy! They've also helped me shed some pounds (specifically those last 5-10 lbs I needed to lose) for my wedding last year which was awesome. Some of my favorite meals are: Red Curry Tofu with brown rice, Breakfast Burrito, Enchilada Casserole, Veggie Lasagna, Country Fried Chick'n, Veggie Pesto Pizza, and the Southwest BBQ Chick'n...all sooo good and very filling for the calories! Super disappointing! I loved that I was eating plant based but the 2nd box arrived wet from several meals exploding everywhere inside. Then so did the 3rd box. I tried to ask for a refund and all they offered was to send me more WARM, unsafe, ruined meals. Not to mention the disgusting clean up from exploded food all over inside a cardboard box. Delicious, healthy and convenient. Ive been using them about 8 months and it has helped me lose weight consistently. It's not cheap, but if you wait for them to have 30% or 35% off (which they seem to fairly consistently), and then install Rakuten you'll get 8% off on top of that. My favorites are the red curry, eggplant stir fry, jackfruit pozole. Tortilla chilli is also good. The enchiladas are good but have a funny taste, and I like the veggie empenadas but they don't seem very healthy. The banana french toast was kinda good but kinda mushy. The south indian coconut stew has a weird taste. But the only meals Ive had that I disliked heavily were the pizzas and the quesadillas -- these were both disgusting and I couldnt finish them. Veetro's Trial pack was exactly what I needed to sample the company, to see if I could support it. The answer is YES! Transitioning from vegetarian to plant based presented challenges for me in the beginning. I was running to the Vegan "junk food" world and not really understanding the benefits of the plant base lifestyle. Now that I am 100% committed to plant based, sometimes, I find it difficult to eat different varieties of foods if something unexpected comes up (late meetings, etc.). Veesto is able to offer me the PERFECT solution for those times, as well as my daily lunch time. I don't use this a daily meals, but more as a convenience for the unexpected. I have ordered beyond my trial pack, as I have favorites and continue to try new meals to incorporate. There are some meals that I don't care much for, but overall, I am pleased with the meals I choose. They provide a very detailed menu, that list caloric intake, if products are soy based and if they are gluten free. The Purchaser has full control using the ala carte options. Vegetables are somewhat lacking, but why "order" meal delivery as a substitute for fresh vegetables. I have to agree with other poor reviews. My box took ages to arrive and then was defrosted and one of the boxes busted open and leaked through. Customer service is sending another box. I've tried a couple of meals from it (the ones there were still cold but not frozen) I can't stand them, the veggies have that real frozen old taste. I usually get daily harvest for lunch and breakfast and they have it down pat, frozen meals that still taste fresh when defrosted and a creative variety. I won't be reordering. read more

I wanted to like Veestro, but their food was either way too plain or just tasted bad. I followed the instructions fully and used my oven to prepare the food, too. With this in mind, the vegan chicken nuggets (4.5/5) was the only decent meal. The vegan pizza (0/5), quinoa bake (0/5), and bbq chicken (1/5) were all pretty bad. I'm surprised they include veggies as a side for so many dishes but don't even season them. Also, their vegan cheese is absolutely horrible and shouldn't be used. Overall, I don't plan to ever order again but the positives are that the delivery and packaging was fine. If you live in Los Angeles, pick Food Flo instead. read more

Don't usually write reviews but this was too much. I got the 10 meals because I saw positive reviews on their Facebook ads but I'm starting to think most of those were paid. I've tried 6 of the meals and had to throw out all of them so far. The meals take forever to cook even in the microwave (much longer than instructions state), and stay cold in the middle. After they're hot enough, the food still isn't good. It's mushy and either tasteless or gross tasting. I will never order from here again. read more

Wow! Veestro is what I've been looking for. I eat healthily and typically cook my meals, however, I can't always find the time to cook. When I need a fast, tasty and healthy meal Veestro is my go to. Although I eat meat, I do my best to eat plant-based at home, simple as a way to limit my intake. It's hard to turn down a great burger, but at home, it's easy to stay plant-based. My 1 star is more for the shipping issues than the food. The food is good for premade vegan meals, but delivery is horrible. The first order I was supposed to receive was destroyed in transit so I never received it. I had to contact Veestro to let them know FedEx damaged the package and was sending it back. So they proceeded to resend another batch of food. That delivery made it in one piece and we enjoyed the food for that week. Then came the second order. It arrived in a damaged box and the food was completely warm so it had to be thrown out. At this point I'm really upset because I'm out the money and I have no dinner for the next week so I had to spend more money to get groceries at the store. I ended up canceling my service after the second order didn't make it to me in one piece. They were able to cancel my order for the following week and refund that money, but they said their policy was to send another box when one is damaged. So I said send another box. Guess what?! I received that box today and it was in worse shape than the other boxes from my other orders. From what I can tell, the Veestro box busted in transit and FedEx put my order in another box. The food was warm and busted open. Completely useless. It went straight to the trash. At this point I just want my money back for the box instead of having another box shipped for a third time. read more

The food is overpriced and it tastes terrible. *Some* of the main dishes are edible, but everything is so bland. The sides however: just gross. They claim a chef makes this stuff but whoever is putting it together doesn't know how to make vegetables. Just absolutely not good enough to eat. The box arrived beat up and wet from the melting ice. I burned my hand on the dry ice that they throw all over the box, and when I called to inform them, they said. "We print that you need to be careful on the inside flap of the BOX (no insert), you should google what to do about your hand". No concern. I tried Veestro because I wanted to ease into healthier eating and save time. The two star rating is for my really underwhelming experience from customer service to the taste of the food. The customer service was okay. The introductory experience had that conveyor belt/drive-thru experience. Once you place the order, it's you and Veestro's system. You can eventually connect with someone if you have questions. I think for first-time customers it might be helpful to have warmer connections and manage their expectations...versus having automated responses and then real people copy and pasting scripts into replies. Just a cold experience. Which is all to say that I probably wouldn't have minded the above so much if the food was better. But I also want to give the caveat that perhaps I'm more of a demanding eater as it seems most other folks have been happy with the experience. This is vegan, yes, but not vegetable-forward. I wanted more vegetables versus consuming processed meat/dairy substitutes. I think the "WHY PLANTS" section of their page turned into "WHERE PLANTS." I feel I barely had any vegetables on Veestro. Well that was disapointing. My first ever box arrived today and all my food was thawed out. The dry Ice was complety melted! The containers they put the food in are totally ruined from the water. The cheap cardboard just falls apart and soon as you pick it up. Food was falling out of the containers. It smelled rotten because it had been thawed for a day or two at least. Don't advertise that you ship across the country when you can't even get it to Florida before it melts. They tried to blame it on Fed Ex but it wasn't fed ex's fault. It arrived on time. I needed to get back on track with my diet, and the last meal service I used (Personal Trainer Food) was way overpriced and poorly packaged compared to Veestro. My Veestro meals arrived in a big box packed in dry ice, in very attractive frozen dinner packages with thorough nutritional labels. So far soba noodles are my fav - very filling and well seasoned - and the mac and cheese is my least fav. I would say the cooking instructions on some meals don't seem realistic. So I discovered Veestro on Instagram via a blogger I follow and went back and forth about ordering and finally took the blogger up on her 20% discount. I ordered the 21 day kickstart and threw in about 5 other items and one of each dessert. About four times prior to actually ordering, I needed their customer service and they did not disappoint. Responses were fast and personalized and they were easily able to make substitutions to accommodate my food allergies. My order was placed on a Thursday and a couple days later on Monday it shipped. This was actually a day earlier than expected which was fantastic, and my food arrived as stated in 3 days. It was like Christmas opening the box! The dry ice was almost completely gone however the food was packaged so well it was still frozen solid. I have absolutely no question about it's integrity. I'm only two days in to eating my meals but everything I've had so far-absolutely delicious. The breakfast burrito and savory croquettes are the two entrees I have tried and I give both 5/5 stars. I microwaved the burrito and cooked the croquettes in the oven as recommended. I'm not much of a juice person so I was skeptical, but the "Let's keep the Dr away" juice is fantastic. Overall, I got almost a months worth of dinners for weeknights for just about $200. My grocery bill and food prep time have both been cut in half. I have tried a few vegan food delivery services and so far, I'm very pleased with Veestro. I have tried Fresh n Lean, Diet-to-Go (not vegan but vegetarian), and Gobble Green (now closed). I was nervous to try another one since the food is usually okay but not as good as what I can get at a restaurant. Living in San Francisco makes it pretty easy to get tasty vegan food without having to cook! The downsides of frequently getting takeout are that it is expensive and it's harder for me to watch the calories. But I really don't like cooking, so I'm usually looking for an easy way to feed myself. I was pleasantly surprised with the quality and taste of the food. I stopped getting delivery from Fresh n Lean because the food was usually bland and I would end up not eating it. So far I've had two 21-day Kickstart Plans delivered from Veestro and I've eaten all of them! I'm signing up for a recurring/ongoing delivery. I also like that it's so easy to stop & start deliveries at any time, and you can really customize the amount of food you get. With the other services, they would let me pause my order but not stop & restart at the same pricing. That makes it easy to eat out with friends when I want to, and eat the Veestro meals for lunch at work or dinner at home and spend less than what I would at a restaurant. The packaging is also pretty good. They do use some styrofoam to keep the cold in, but it's mostly packaged with cardboard. All of the food containers are recyclable or compostable. They pack the food with dry ice and ship out orders on Monday or Tuesday via FedEx Ground shipping. I live in San Francisco and receive my delivery on Thursday afternoon. I get home from work a few hours later and there is still dry ice in the delivery, and all the meals are frozen solid (a good thing). I do have to make sure to order well in advance. They say that orders placed by Friday will ship out the following week. So if you order on a Monday you'll have to wait about 2 weeks for a delivery. I try to order on Thursdays and now that I've ordered a few times, I've figured out when I need to order by to continually have the right amount of food. I live in a small apartment and don't have that much freezer/fridge space. Oh, and for anyone wondering about the calories, most meals are under 300 calories. I've found that's enough for me, and I mix my week up with a few non-Veestro meals & treats (lattes anyone?). I have not gotten hungry when just eating Veestro for the day, but I suppose someone who wants more than 1200 calories could eat an extra meal or two per day, or add in their own supplements. I cook my meals in a toaster oven and they turn out perfectly. I check the middle to make sure it's heated and usually need to cook them longer than the recommended time on the package. When I microwave them (at work, no toaster oven!) I put them in for twice as long at half or less-than-half the power. My wife and I are both vegetarians. We have a difficult time sticking to diet plans, we don't grocery shop smart (by meal planning ahead), we are busy and often order take-out/ delivery, etc. Portion control is a problem for me as well. So the idea of Veestro sounded like a saving grace for us. We ordered our 21-day kickstarter about 3 weeks ago. The shipment came MUCH quicker than I anticipated...I believe it took only 3 to 5 days and it was on our door step. We have enjoyed everything we ate (and drank), with some of the meals being above average and others simply fantastic! It was my wife's birthday the other day and we celebrated at Magiannos. We ordered the eggplant. It was ok, but I felt disgusting after eating it. The next day I made the Veestro eggplant casserole and not only was it much healthier, it tasted WAY better than at Magiannos. I think that says a lot, and believe me we are foodies and can be very critical. SO BOTTOM LINE IMO: 1. We are saving money and time and stress 2. We are eating healthier and smarter 3. The food is great. We have not had one single "bad" item. 4. The service is quick and convenient. SUGGESTIONS: 1. Crock-pot meals (I would love to have a stand-by type meal in large qty I could throw in a slow-cooker). 2. One of these days, I need to move into a: A) Sugar-free B) Gluten-free C) Dairy-free/ Vegan diet (per doctors orders), and I've tried this diet myself which made me feel amazing but the food was so boring, and time-consuming to make. Extremely disappointed in the service I received on the telephone this morning. I've been ordering from veestro for a little over a year. Friday, the 28th of June, I had tried to change my menu order and the website wasn't working. I tried on 3 different computers and then decided to call veestro, at least 8 times and no one answered. So I was able to cancel the next order the following night, Saturday the 29th. I never received an email for being charged since I am always charged on a Sunday evening around 3 am. Monday the 1st I get a call from Veestro saying that I've made changes and should they be sent out? Well I talked to a nice gentleman and he assured me the orders have been cancelled. So I put the cancellation in on Saturday and was still charged apparently. Thursday, July 4th, I completely cancel all three reoccurring orders that we had placed since we don't have the room in our freezer to keep the food. And Monday, the 8th, I get a notification that my meals are being shipped. I call Tuesday afternoon, and once again get voicemail and am not able to reach anyone. I left a message. It is now Wednesday Morning, July 10th and I get a notification that the food I did not order is arriving today. On my way to work a woman calls and immediately is unkind and accusatory. She claimed that she talked to the person the meals are billed to. Well, I can assure you my mother did not talk to anyone at Veestro at anytime. I am the one who's placed all the orders. She had talked to me and continued to argue with me claiming I didn't cancel my order. I have a voicemail that claims that I made changes to my account. Basically, I've been very happy with veestro and their customer service up until this point. Joe has been nothing but kind and helpful to my family and my boyfriends family. Due to this woman's attitude and rudeness, I will not be replacing my reoccurring orders for the three people in my family based on principle. Sadly, I will not be able to place the food that's been sent to me in my freezer because of a lack of space and that's the whole reason I cancelled the reoccurring orders in the first place. This is what I would imagine that prison food tastes like! Tried one box delivery, they snuck in another charge and delivery before I could cancel. I am giving these out to the homeless, just to get rid of them at this point. Went from cooking vegetarian meals with Hello Fresh, which tasted great, to trying to save the time in prep and cooking and washing dishes by trying Veestro. The delivery, communication and packaging was just fine. However, I could not be more disappointed in the taste of the food as well as the incredibly small portion sizes. And there was barely any food in the trays! Definitely way overpriced for what you get! Absolutely zero flavor food. Everything literally tasted like there was NO sort of seasoning used at all. I understand that it is preservative free, and perhaps that is why there was no flavor. Even when I added salt and pepper and garlic powder, it did not help. I've been very happy with Veestro! The food was surprisingly tasty (and I'm a total foodie)! I'm trying the weight loss package and I like that the calorie count is a bit less than the full 1200 per day for my three meals. This way I don't feel restricted. I can have a snack or a drink, add a condiment or throw on some extra veggies and not go over my calorie limit. I've enjoyed each meal I've tried so far. I've often added a little extra (like some avocado and tomato to the breakfast scramble), but this is quick and not needed, just makes it even better. The country fried chicken is my favorite meal so far. I mean, it was delicious. What I love is that the portions are decent sized and I do feel full after eating. Still excited that I can have a snack or buff up a meal with some more veggies if I want. Some folks complained about the cooking time but I think you just factor that in. Some of the denser items did take longer than the stated time but it's not a big deal, I just plan for that until I learn which ones take adjusting. Overall, I was dubious but needed a kick in the pants for losing weight. They look like TV dinners when you pull them out of the box, but they do genuinely taste great. My only wishes are that I could ship UPS instead of FedEx (easier with the access point pickup now). The management of subscriptions on the site is a little wonky but the customer service is great. I was even able to adjust the quantities of meals I like within my plan by contacting them. Apparently they are also working on a better website. I've already lost 4 lbs and they are enabling me to keep that going. I've since tried one other service and it was both unappetizing and didn't leave me feeling full. I like that Veestro meals feel like complete meals. Update 1/21/15: I've made it through all the dishes and there were only a couple I didn't love. I usually cook but as a full time student with a full time job and a single mother there are times when I just don't have any time to cook the way I like to eat. Everything Ive had so far has been great! I see the bad reviews and I think it's a matter of your palette. I eat very healthy and cook similar dishes myself. If some of the meals seem bland it's bc the sodium content on some of them is low- which is a healthy way to eat. Americans are used to eating very high sodium meals and eating lower sodium takes an adjustment of the palette. If I had the time to cook every day I would cook bc it's way more affordable but I'm super happy to have this option for the times when I'm very busy like midterms and finals weeks. It's not easy to find premade meals with real ingredients that are organic and healthy. Amy's is loaded with sodium - loaded with a lot of ingredients I don't always recognize and taste like a frozen dinner. Veestro's taste like home cooked real food to me. read more

We ordered 10 meals at approximately $10 per meal. And that was with a large discount. There is no communication regarding when the meals are being sent so you have no idea when they're coming. We could have disregarded the service if the food was good, but it wasn't even edible. We tried two different pizzas, the chicken fried steak and a few other meals. We couldn't eat any of them. My delivery was lost in shipping and arrived late. I didn't feel safe eating thawed food so I contacted customer service. The phone number provided is useless. It tells you to contact them by email. So I did. I was assured I would receive a new shipment by the following Tuesday. It took forever for them to send out the first package. I ordered on a Wednesday, it wasn't sent out until the following Monday. I was supposed to get it on Wednesday. Didn't get it until Friday because the label was damaged and had to be replaced so it sat in a fedex warehouse for days. (I read this on the tracking details.) So after All the wait I Just wanted a refund by this point, after almost a two week wait for rotten food. I was assured they would send out a new shipment right away and they guaranteed I would have it by the following Tuesday and I would get a new tracking number as soon as it was sent out. Well, now it's Tuesday and I have no food, and no tracking number. For $11.70 a meal this is ridiculous! Who's writing these reviews?! This food is bland and uninspired. Most use the same core ingredients so it takes like the same plain meal day after day. The only highlight for me - the fruit juices , and a couple of the prepared meals were ok. I went with the 21 day starter kit... trying to help me eat vegan dinners quickly due to my busy work schedule. I would not recommend - especially if you like your food with flavor. The first entree was, well, edible but not a winner. Half its contents ended up out a window for wild things to consume. The second item, not an award-winner (Hawaiian Chili) was all-right, but it too was not fully eaten. We'll continue gnawing through the shipment and post an update. Having tried several of Veestro's competitors, it seems such food purveyors have a way to go to sign-up a discerning clientele for something more than a trial run. I understand that it might be difficult to make good vegan desserts but even the green beans were not edible. We had the cauliflower Milanese meals and almost everything ended up in the compost pail. I'm confused about the good reviews. I ordered twice just in case I got a bad batch initially. Yuck! Of 20 different meals I don't have anything good to say. They all take much longer to cook than indicated, they taste like cardboard or flavorless mush, the gluten-free options are the worst and i Just can't even eat them. Save your money. read more

Being a Vegan and having the option to make it gluten free is great. I have been ordering Veestro ( free shipping is always fantastic ) for three weeks now. The food is delicious. The Kale salad and the vegan omelette is delicious seriously taste like food you would eat at a country club. I never use the Microwave only the oven to heat it up. read more
