We spoke to the veterinarian and they told me I probably know more about the situation than them because I do animal rehabilitation. Well that wasn't what we expected after calling ahead of time. Speaking with the staff...they are definitely friendly and respectful for the animals coming to their practice, but they should have told us they didn't have much experience with prairie dogs. I feel like it was a wasted visit of almost an hour drive one way to be told I know more about my prairie dog than the veterinarian. Expensive visit which would have been worthwhile if we had any type of answers. Sad visit.

In a stressful situation, their calm and caring approach made all the difference. Dr. Laura Watson was absolutely phenomenal. She took her time, explained everything in clear, layman's terms, and made sure I understood every step of my dog's care. Most importantly, she genuinely cared. You could feel it. Her compassion and kindness truly stood out. I honestly wish human healthcare providers and physicians were as compassionate and kind as the team at this clinic. VEG is truly a one-stop shop -- assessment, imaging, labs, and even boarding if your fur baby requires continued monitoring. That level of comprehensive care provides such peace of mind. Parking is conveniently located right in front, which is so helpful during an emergency. They also offer multiple affordable payment options, which makes high-quality care accessible and less overwhelming. If your pet ever needs emergency care, this is the place you want to be. They treat your pet like family.

From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel cared for. The vet tech saw us quickly, and even though the only vet on staff was in the middle of surgery on a dog, they kept us informed and reassured. At 9:00 at night, I completely understand the wait. Both the vet tech and the vet were caring, gracious, and patient. They understood that we were there for a long time and that we were anxious about Willow. The vet spent more time with us than we typically get at Willow's primary care, answering all of our questions, explaining everything clearly, and making sure we felt comfortable with the plan. The clinic itself felt professional and welcoming. I did notice the floors could have been cleaner, but I'll admit I'm overly picky about that. What mattered most was the quality of care, and that was exceptional. Willow is now much better and mobile again, though we're still being careful with her leg. The price is higher than some other places, but the care and compassion we received here were worth every penny. I'm grateful to have a place like this nearby for emergencies.

Dr. Miller spent that hour combing through vet records, establishing a timeline on her heart issues, calling other vets for bloodwork records, asking me detailed questions -- all while in the room with me -- and ultimately, helped me navigate an end-of-life choice for my sweet girl (with tears streaming down my face). I prayed to god the night before for wise counsel, and the Lord sent it to me via Dr. Miller. I felt bad for taking up so much of his time when there were other families waiting in rooms, but I needed the generous gift of Dr. Miller's time to navigate the difficult choice of ending Apple's life, the compassion he showed me (never abandoning me) while making it. When you enter BluePearl, a triage nurse meets you at the door to sweep your fur baby up, immediately start taking vitals, and get their arms around the situation. They send you to a room to wait. Yes, you wait. But while you're waiting, they are gathering information so that when it comes your time to see the vet, it's not a 5min swoop in and out, they spend time to walk you through observations, gather more details, and help you navigate difficult conversations if end-of-life is required. This is exactly what you want in an emergency vet.

On July 6, 2026, my 13-year-old Pekingese somehow got out of the apartment I had just moved into…read more Someone found him and called animal services, who contacted me at work and returned him home. His back legs were not functioning properly and he was having difficulty breathing, so I immediately rushed him to BluePearl. After they took him to the back, I waited well over an hour before receiving an estimate for X-rays, pain medication and initial care, which I authorized. The process felt extremely slow while I knew my dog was suffering. The X-rays provided no definitive explanation. I ultimately agreed to approximately $2,500 in care to hospitalize him overnight with IV fluids, antibiotics, pain medication and monitoring because I wanted to give him a chance. Before leaving, my husband and I asked to see him. He was kenneled directly above an extremely aggressive dog that barked and growled continuously. Trying to comfort our critically ill elderly dog in that environment was incredibly upsetting. This ended up being my husband's final time with the dog he had loved for 13 years. It was anything but peaceful. At 6 a.m. the next morning, I was told his blood pressure had become critically low despite treatment. They still did not know why and recommended continued hospitalization, medication to support his blood pressure, oxygen and additional diagnostics--essentially stabilizing him long enough to hopefully determine what was wrong. The updated estimate was approximately $6,000. I could not afford to continue at that cost, especially with no diagnosis or assurance he could recover. I knew I was going to have to return and euthanize my family member of 13 years. When my sister and I arrived, his condition was visibly much worse. He was open-mouth breathing and clearly struggling tremendously. What devastated and angered me was seeing him in that condition when the hospital knew I was returning to say goodbye. I would gladly have authorized and paid specifically for oxygen or any reasonable comfort measure to ease his breathing during his final hours. Instead, oxygen had been presented as part of the larger continued-treatment estimate, and I was never offered a separate comfort-care option before his euthanasia. Watching him struggle left me wondering how long he had been in that state and why more could not have been done simply to keep him comfortable at the end of his life. The lack of sensitivity surrounding his death made an unbearable situation worse. While my sister and I were in the hospital area crying over him and preparing to say goodbye, staff nearby were chatting and laughing. The veterinarian was loudly discussing needing coffee while another staff member offered to make it. I understand veterinary professionals experience death regularly and must continue functioning, but for the family losing their beloved pet, this is not "just another day." Basic discretion and compassion matter. One nurse was genuinely kind, expressed sympathy and helped us through the process. I am extremely grateful to her. Unfortunately, she was the exception in my experience. During the euthanasia, the veterinarian briefly explained what would happen, administered the medication while I held my dog and my sister and I were completely devastated, and then simply left the room. I did not experience any meaningful expression of sympathy from her. The kind nurse later returned and helped us afterward. Afterward, there was no follow-up call or personal acknowledgment of our loss from the hospital. When my dog's ashes were returned, the envelope included generic grief brochures, but no sympathy card or personal message. I have previously received more compassion after euthanizing a pet at a veterinary office I had never even visited before. I understand emergency veterinary medicine is expensive and doctors cannot guarantee outcomes. But this was my 13-year-old dog and a member of my family. I went to this hospital desperate to save him and spent thousands of dollars trying to give him a chance. Yet from the estimates and escalating costs while he was critically ill to the lack of personal acknowledgment after his death, the entire experience felt painfully transactional. At times, I felt more like I was trying to buy a used car than desperately trying to save--and ultimately say goodbye to--a beloved member of my family. When it became clear I was going to lose him, what I needed--beyond medical care--was compassion, sensitivity, clear communication and a sense that his comfort and dignity still mattered. That was not how I experienced his final hours. This was one of the worst days of my life, and I will carry this experience with me for the rest of it. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this hospital.

Everyone seemed very eager to help and made th process smoothe. We liked the open concept because we were able to see the care provided not only to our dog but to the other pets as well. All of the staff worked as such a great team, and the communication between them seemed flawless. We were seen by Dr. Majors, and our tech was Hannah. Both of them were very reassuring and treated Florence like their own. VEG is a very pet family oriented vet, seeing us as a whole and not just a couple people with an animal. When it came time for the price, we were met with such nice transparency, and the DVM was honest with what she recommended and did not try to make us agree to anything that was unnecessary while also making sure we had the option to take all the tests if we so desired. I would absolutely recommend this emergency vet. We have been to another in Carrollton which did not come close to the level of care we experienced here. Thank you!

Although I kept repeating that this is not a foreign body as this is the 3rd time it's happened in the last 6 months! They weren't listening to anything that I said! No compassion. No warmth. No answers! They threw a bill in my face before even discussing a plan! I had to pay in advance for treatments that hadn't been done and didn't even start for about an hour into the visit! Was there for 6+ hours to have everything blamed on how long the radiologist was taking. Personal conversations complaining about clients, vet techs using their phones while patients needed attending to, eating their food next to the triage table! At the end of my 1,500 visit I had more concerns for my kitty than I did before I even walked in the door. When it was come time to be discharged the tech that was assisting us left without letting anyone know what was going on and they just looked really dysfunctional. The doctor didn't even acknowledge us as we walk out. Not even a you're welcome to our thank you! Unprofessional, unorganized, no compassion or care about the clients or patients. I would never recommend this hospital even if it was the last place on earth! Update: Two days later. Called and spoke to Cheyenne about our experience. Felt heard, felt compassion and felt true concern about myself and my kitty. She advised she would call me back. Instead Dr. Hoge called me back and was very apologetic and showed a great deal of concern for our experience. I believe that the team we had this horrific encounter with creates a bad name for this ER and for the veterinary field as a whole. I appreciate the sincere apology I received by management and wanted to add that to my review. They both showed care and compassion and that is what it's all about. If I had walked in the door when they were there I would have had a totally different visit and my kitty would have been taken care of! They are what makes veterinary practice great!

Her regular vet wouldn't be in until that afternoon, and I wasn't going to wait at her expense. They recommended Mid-cities, and I'm happy they did; they are exceptional. Upon arriving and after checking in, we waited for several minutes, then were taken back to our room. When meeting Dr. Renegar, we went over Penny's symptoms, and her treatment journey started. After her labs and X-ray, we found something was going on with her kidney. That's when it was suggested we do a US (ultrasound); unfortunately, her kidney was very sick. We came up with a treatment plan, and Penny stayed to get fluids and pain medication until Dr. Hurd was able to review her records. Once that was done, Dr. Hurd reached out to me, and we spoke about the condition of the kidney and surgery. Unfortunately, Penny had (after pathology confirmed) a stone that caused inflammation and eventually burst. What I appreciate about Dr. Hurd, she went over three different things it could have been, and that was one of them. She wanted to save the kidney, but after seeing it, that wasn't an option. I couldn't handle this issue with all emotions; I had to think clearly and logically. Dr. Hurd has been (Penny's care is still ongoing) so kind through this all. Empathetic, caring, sensitive to Penny's needs, etc. If she had her own practice, we would be there. Penny is recovering and doing very well. She has one more visit to remove her stitches and for labs. I highly recommend them if your sweet baby needs to be seen after-hours, or if your regular vet isn't available. Customer Service: The ladies up front are exceptional. As someone with a background in UC/Emergency Medicine, I can say these ladies do a very good job. They're dealing with humans AND their pets; combine those two, and you never know what you're going to get. Then, dealing with the financial part of emergency vet care, oohweee. As you're waiting in your room, they stop by in intervals to check on you. They offer beverages (hot and cold), blankets (it's cold in there), and you have a ROKU in your room while you wait. *NOTE: If you're going in the later hours (after 7), call to make sure they're still seeing patients; depending on the patient volume, they may be at capacity for the remainder of the evening. Keep in mind, they're an ER for our babies (fur), please show them grace.

My dog was experiencing a serious medical emergency, including vomiting, bloody diarrhea, and visible signs of distress. Before making the drive, I called ahead and was told that we could come in and that my dog could be seen. After driving nearly 50 minutes with a very sick animal, we arrived only to be told that they had decided not to take any more patients. At no point during our drive were we contacted or informed that their availability had changed. Instead, we were turned away at the door while dealing with an urgent and frightening situation. I understand that veterinary clinics can become overwhelmed and that emergencies happen. However, confirming that a critically ill pet can be seen and then refusing care upon arrival is unacceptable. Every minute matters during a medical emergency, and the time we lost making this trip could have been spent seeking treatment elsewhere. What made the situation even more upsetting was the complete lack of empathy shown for both my pet and my family. We were scared, stressed, and desperately trying to get help, only to be met with a decision that should have been communicated before we drove almost an hour to the clinic. I would strongly encourage this clinic to improve its communication practices and patient intake procedures. Pet owners rely on the information they are given, especially during emergencies. No family should have to experience the frustration, stress, and delay in care that we did.
