Our experience with Ponder Vet Hospital tragically ended in the loss of our cat due to what we believe was a failure to properly diagnose a life‑threatening condition. This began in October 2025, when we brought our cat in for urinary issues. We were told by Ginnie Crawford he was experiencing emotional stress and had a UTI. The symptoms temporarily improved but later returned. Because of the cost of this clinic, my daughter sought care elsewhere, where a different veterinarian again diagnosed a UTI and prescribed a different antibiotic. On Friday, when our cat once again was unable to urinate, we returned to Ponder Vet Hospital. The same veterinarian again (Ginnie Crawford) diagnosed a UTI and emotional issues. Ginnie stated that Dr. Norwood also reviewed her diagnosis and agreed with it. By Saturday, our cat still could not urinate. Since Ponder was closed, we followed their voicemail instructions and took him to Denton County ER. There, he was immediately diagnosed with a blocked urethra and a bladder full of sediment. At that point, his condition was so advanced that we were forced to make the heartbreaking decision to euthanize him due to his inability to recover and have a reasonable quality of life. What made this experience worse was the response from Ponder Vet Hospital afterward. When I returned on Monday to explain what happened, I was told they were sorry our cat died but that everything had been handled correctly. There was no acknowledgment that the blockage had been missed and no meaningful empathy shown by the staff. We spent over $600 at Ponder Vet Hospital, only to then spend another $1,200 at the emergency clinic and ultimately lose our cat. I requested a refund for the vaccines administered on Friday as a gesture of goodwill, given the outcome, but the clinic refused to work with us in any way. This clinic showed a troubling lack of compassion, accountability, and thorough diagnostic care (especially the mean old blond lady behind the counter). Based on our experience, we will be taking our 3 other dogs elsewhere and strongly encourage others to carefully consider alternative veterinary providers--especially for serious or recurring health concerns. read more

So. I woke up to my 12 year old female English Bulldog whom had a huge lump on her neck. It was almost Softball size. Just below her right jowl. Obviously, it was not there yesterday. She was drinking water and not interested in eating her kibble. I knew she needed a remedy quickly. I was grateful for an 1:30pm appointment with Ponder Veterinary Hospital. We arrived 5 minutes early and they took us into a consult room immediately. So I had faith that we were in good hands. Dr. Ferry was very kind and gentle with Sloane. He took 3 blood samples from her swollen neck. And excused himself from the examination room. Said he had to look at the slides under his microscope. Sure, no problem. It seemed like it was going to be a short wait. So I'm sitting there. With my 12 year old dog. The love of my life. Finally. 47 minutes later. He returned to the exam room. Hallelujah. And proceeded to explain that either she has experienced an explosion of cancer cells. Or maybe she was stung by an insect. I am not upset with the $185 bill. Which did include an antibiotic and an anti inflammatory. However. The amount of time that I should have been aware of. Was not communicated with me. Picture sitting with your 12 year old dog. For close to an hour? Dr. Ferry had great bedside manner. But...if you are waiting for a swift diagnosis. I would suggest that you go somewhere else. It was a beautiful veterinary hospital. Opened in 1975. I finally said to the Veterinary Assistant. I can't recall her name. She was very nice. However. Came in to the lobby with the two meds. Was giving me directions for a different medication. I had to correct her. I also said she to her that I am not a Bitch. But the way I was treated today was very cruel. Not only towards me. But to my 12 year old dog. I told her that we were really treated shitty. She rolled her eyes. Did not even attempt to apologize. I really hope that she and Dr. Ferry can get their act together. read more

We have gotten shots and spays and couldn't be happier about the care our pets have received. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. I recently moved to the area and ended up having to bring both my cats in for different reasons two weeks apart. I could not be more delighted with Ponder Veterinary Hospital. The staff is incredibly warm and friendly, the newly opened facility is clean and inviting, and Dr. Moriarty was very knowledgeable, courteous, and patient to answer all my questions. I think I was too harsh with Ponder Vet. I would like to revise my terrible review from 3-20-2025. My dog was really old so he did not die because of Ponder Vet. Also, he did not die same night of office visit. It was two days later. I was typing fast so that statement did not have malice intent. The staff and Doctor's are truly nice and caring there! This VET Clinic is NOT THE WORST EVER. I will stand by my criticism of them not delivering the service that they charge however, Example, should have asked more questions about Boston; like age when he was diagnosed with VTE so I could have the option to Euthanize. Also did not ask if he was eating. I felt like they rushed my visit. did not get the service I deserved basically. I will not revise that portion of my terrible review. read more

My family's Senior German Shepherd was having intense pains, hunching over and couldn't lay down. We couldn't figure out what was wrong and thankfully Ponder Vet took her in with no prior history here. They quickly discovered she had a neck sprain and also let us know about her arthritis issues which we were not aware of the extent of! After the medication they gave us, she was healed very quickly and has been feeling much better! She also has big feelings about other dogs and they were able to accommodate her. Ponder Veterinarian Hospital is by far the best vet I have ever been to. His staff is caring, loving, and attentive to animals. Everyone from the sweet lady answering the phone, to the vet's assistant, to the doctor himself truly care for animals and it shows. My black lab needed an appointment as soon as possible, on the Friday before a holiday and they were able to see him in under an hour. We thought our dog would need X-Rays and would have gladly paid for them, but Dr Norwood said that he didn't think it was necessary so he didn't order them. It is rare to find a vet who doesn't pad the bill when they realize that pet parents will pay whatever is asked of them. From here on out, our black lab will always be seen by Ponder Vet Hospital, as well as our German Shepherd. I definitely recommend this office. read more

Have tried several vets in the area and by far this one is fantastic. You feel like family once you come through the door. We previously had a hard time getting our dog out of the car at other vets. Even to the point of parking far away and walking. Once we found Ponder Vet he gets out of the car no problem and walks right in...like family.
