Dr. Speed took our lil Toy under her wing and cared for him when others would not. He lived far beyond his expectations and even in the end Toy was handled with the utmost care by Dr. Speed and her staff. Her attention and kindness will always be appreciated by me and my family so much that we still seek treatment for our newest pets to this day. I cannot imagine anyone having less than a stellar service with TC. From the time you enter the door, you feel cared for and attended to as a person and pet. The following day someone always follows up with a phone call to make sure all is okay and they always fit us in whenever the need arises. In my experience they always explain the medical concerns and treatment plans thoroughly to me and allow me to decide when the expenses can be saved. The issue stemmed from a simple and reasonable request. I had an unused prepaid service from the prior year for my pets' physicals. The service was never used and therefore cost the practice nothing. I requested that it simply be applied as a credit toward the same service this year and even offered to pay any difference in pricing. I also provided a legitimate and provable explanation as to why the service was not used at the time. Instead of being accommodating or even attempting to work toward a reasonable solution, the office was rigid, ununderstanding, and ultimately unpleasant in their responses. There was no effort to consider the situation beyond a strict, one-dimensional policy approach, showing an inability to apply basic judgment or common sense. After raising the issue, I received a phone call from a member of the receptionist team whose tone was condescending and dismissive. I was told they were not willing to work with me and that their position would not change. Shortly after that call, I received a brief follow-up email stating that my account had been inactivated, my pets' upcoming appointments had been canceled, and that I would need to find a new veterinarian. This was done without my request or agreement. Communication overall was abrupt and unprofessional, with no accountability or willingness to resolve the issue. The experience left a clear impression of a facility that prioritizes money over customer service, reasonable accommodation, and good business practice. The owner, whom I requested call me, would not. Again, pointing at poor service. To be fair, the office itself is very nice, the location is convenient, and parking is adequate. Scheduling appointments has always been easy, and their email and text reminders are helpful, so in that part of the business, they are doing something right. However, none of that makes up for poor communication, inflexibility, and a lack of professionalism. The inability to think beyond a rigid, one-dimensional approach also gives me pause when dealing with medical professionals who are often called upon to think more broadly and problem-solve complex issues that can be challenging to diagnose. I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere if you value responsive, thoughtful, and client-focused service.

While she was in some pain, they gave her pain medicine. She is so much happier now. Tooth cleaning is not cheap but I highly recomnend Bartonville Vets to get a check up for your pet. We will see them again soon for our other pet.

Not only did she diagnose him with ear mites he was also diagnosed with an ear infection. I did see that he had wax build up in his ears that she cleaned. Only later after the vet visit did I find out from talking to his foster mother that both ear mites and ear infections stink to high heaven and his ears didn't stink! I was furious that she decieved me in order to line her pockets when she knew that I am on a fixed income. Not only did the clinic make an early morning appointment to see the three dogs (which were not prior clients), they went above and beyond to write the USDA a letter confirming the dogs had an appointment for the treatment in the morning so that their health documents would be stamped - these actions were taken prior to their being compensated by use solely because it was in the best interest of the dogs. The staff was concerned and caring on the phone and very quick to assist us. We will definately recommend this office for client's in the area in the future for their veterinary needs. I have spent the last 25 years having rats as pets. Before I found Jozette I had gotten pet store rats, Rescued feeder rats and even purchased from a not so reputable breeder. Most of them were very sweet, some had serious behavioral issues, were not very healthy, just average looks, And not socialized at all. It took me one whole year to get one of these babies back to normal from a very fearful place. So you can guess when I met Jozzy and saw her super sweet beautiful fur babies, I was captivated. All of the fancy pet rats that I've bought from her are healthier, sweeter, more loving , socialized, and beautiful than any of the other 65 rats I've have had in 25 years. Sometimes people may confuse playfulness with aggression. My rats from Jozzy are very playful and fun and have NEVER been aggressive. Jozzy's three youngest children, love the rats as well, and they all spend time with them, socializing them, which makes them even better pets. Suffice to say if you're lucky enough to get a pet fancy rat from Jozette, then do it!!

I live in Celina so it's quite a ways for me to drive to Denton but our regular vet had quoted us $1k-$1.2k for a dental cleaning for my 12 yr old cat. They said he had some tartar build up on his back molars and a bit of gingivitis in his gums and it will get worse if we don't get a cleaning done. Our pet insurance does not cover dental cleanings so it would be out of pocket. I was recommended Guardian pet Hospital from a cat rescue group on Facebook. When I called the receptionist was very friendly and quoted me $300. A phenomenal price considering what our vet was charging us. My cat went to get a pre screening done and everything was good to go! He got his cleaning done shortly after, appointment times weren't an issue and he did so well under anesthesia. The staff is very helpful and very kind and the price came out being even a little less than what they originally quoted me! I highly recommend coming here not just for the reasonable prices but also for the great experience and friendly staff. I am highly considering transferring all our pets to Guardian pet hospital even if it's a longer drive for us!

AVOID GUARDIAN PET HOSPITAL!!! I boarded my diabetic dog with Guardian recently, and there is a…read moreSEVERE ANIMAL NEGLECT PROBLEM with this group. As my dog is diabetic (and has been for 2 years now), her feeding and insulin routine is of the utmost important to regulate her system. First, I was told they would accommodate her feeding/insulin schedule when I initially called, which is on a rolling 12-hour basis. However, when I was dropping her off, they then decided to tell me that they could not actually accommodate the times and it would be about a 8 hour cycle between feedings/insulin with a 16 hour gap. This destroys her medical routine, and leads to huge degradations in her energy and health. Then, the onsite staff were very rude to me about how to treat her. I have been following a 2 year routine now with my vet, but the staff told me their on-site vet knew better and they tried to change the medicine for her. What?!?! Finally, I included hand-crafted bags with measured food for each of my dog's meals. But after I picked her up, I noticed that they did not feed my dog during one of the meals as I had one of my bags returned to me!?! This means they completely skipped feeding her one morning/night which is first, entirely unacceptable, and second, extremely detrimental to her health and survival!! When I called and asked about it, and after being on hold for 20 minutes, I was given every excuse in the book (maybe we fed her food we have here (breaks her vet's prescription), or maybe you are delusional and you gave us too much food (it's not that hard to count 10 bags for 10 meals), "but yes we definitely fed her". Absolutely ridiculous, again, avoid these people at all costs!!

And there was zero feedback regarding the Bordetella vaccine and this office's practices. When I showed up for the appointment, everyone was very pleasant and they demonstrated that they care for me and my pet. The assistant had everything prepped and the vet, Dr. Herrington, administered vaccinations and the microchip. She never said a word about Bordetella, their practices or that they were not administering the Bordetella, let alone their reasoning. There was ZERO conversation about this. It only came to light that they had NOT administered the Bordetella vaccine 10 days later when I was about to board my pup while I traveled. The receptionist told me they did not because it is not their practice to do so (no further explanation). Further, when later queried directly, the vet deflected and said the "receptionist cannot practice veterinary medicine." She apparently thought this was relevant because I notified the receptionist of my request when I made the appointment. But if this were germane, how is it Kellie Herrington DVM did everything else I requested via the receptionist without asking me a question? Hey, I understand that any business will have processes and protocols they follow. How much more so in any kind of medical practice. That is why every other doctor or large- or small-animal veterinarian I have interacted with COMMUNICATES. No, the truth is that this office has problems with communication. They actually let me pay and leave believing they had administered a vaccination that they apparently had no intention of actually administering. My family's dogs were former patients of South Denton Animal Hospital and saw Dr. Cody for years…read more Throughout our time there, we repeatedly felt that our concerns were dismissed with comments like, "Dogs can just be weird sometimes," or, "Don't worry, these things happen." When I first adopted my dog, Clementine, a Chihuahua/Terrier mix, she began having severe episodes of bloody stool--sometimes passing only blood with no stool at all. As a first-time dog owner and a college student, I was understandably worried. I immediately took her to Dr. Cody with photographic evidence and asked whether I should change her food or if there was anything I could do to help. Dr. Cody told me that dogs can have sensitive stomachs and assured me the issue would likely resolve on its own. Although I left feeling uneasy, I trusted his professional opinion. The problem continued, and I couldn't stand watching Clementine struggle. Against his advice, I switched her to a food formulated for sensitive stomachs. Her symptoms resolved almost immediately. While I was relieved that she was finally feeling better, I couldn't understand why such a simple recommendation hadn't been suggested from the beginning. Similar experiences continued throughout the years we brought Clementine to South Denton Animal Hospital. At the time, the clinic's affordability and my trust in Dr. Cody kept us there. After graduating from college and moving away from Denton, I established care with a new veterinarian. The difference was remarkable. Appointments became thorough rather than rushed. They took the time to listen to my concerns, discussed preventative care, explained their reasoning, and worked with me to develop treatment plans when needed. It made me realize how different veterinary care could be. Our other dog, Scooter, had seen Dr. Cody since he was a puppy. Scooter was a mixed-breed terrier who generally appeared healthy, so most of his visits consisted of annual exams and vaccinations. During those appointments, we routinely asked questions like, "Is his weight healthy?" and "Does everything sound normal?" We were consistently told that everything looked fine. As Scooter got older, he developed a persistent cough and began showing signs of labored breathing. We brought him back to Dr. Cody, who attributed it to allergies and again reassured us that it would likely resolve on its own. No X-rays were taken, and no additional diagnostic testing was recommended. When Scooter's coughing continued to worsen, we remembered how our concerns about Clementine had been dismissed and decided to seek a second opinion from a newly opened veterinary clinic near my mom's home. During Scooter's very first appointment there, the veterinarian listened to his heart and immediately asked whether we had ever been told he had a heart murmur. We were shocked. Dr. Cody had listened to Scooter's heart during countless annual exams, yet this had never been mentioned. After X-rays and additional testing, Scooter was diagnosed with a collapsed trachea and Stage C congestive heart failure. By that point, his disease was already advanced. Rather than preventing or significantly slowing its progression, treatment focused on managing his symptoms and keeping him comfortable. His new veterinary team worked tirelessly for him. They monitored him with repeat X-rays, adjusted his medications as his condition changed, and gave us clear explanations every step of the way. Within a short time, we noticed meaningful improvements--his coughing decreased, his breathing became easier, and he had more energy. Sadly, despite their efforts, Scooter's heart disease had already progressed too far. Just six months after his diagnosis, we made the heartbreaking decision to let him go. He was only 11 years old. Many small terrier mixes can live several years longer, and I can't help but wonder whether an earlier diagnosis could have given us more time with him. While no one can know for certain what the outcome would have been, I believe that taking our concerns seriously, investigating his symptoms sooner, and performing appropriate diagnostics may have allowed treatment to begin earlier. I understand that, in hindsight, we could have changed veterinarians sooner. We carry that regret every day. But we trusted Dr. Cody because he was our veterinarian. We weren't medical professionals--we relied on his expertise, reassurances, and judgment. It has been about a month since Scooter passed away, and writing this review has not been easy. I'm sharing our experience because I don't want another family to find themselves wondering whether their concerns should have been investigated sooner. If you choose South Denton Animal Hospital, I encourage you to advocate strongly for your pet, ask questions, and seek a second opinion if your instincts tell you something isn't right.

The first words out of the vets mouth were "I don't know what you want me to do with this dog." sometimes our dog gets aggressive and we have to muzzle him when he is at the vet because that's his fear response. If the vet had given him just a little bit of patience and compassion, he would have eventually calmed down enough to allow for an exam. Instead, he flippantly told us we can't control our dog and slammed the door of the exam room leaving us in there completely in shock. I've been to many vets for many animals and have never been treated this way by someone who claims to be a professional who cares about all animals. We were yelled at in the parking lot after trying to ask for help once more. He flipped us off and threatened to call the police. I'm bewildered honestly. We're leaving with a scared dog still in need of his pain meds, with less faith in animal medicine.
