After going to this vet for so long. I unfortunately had to come to an end to my business with them. Dr Jones is who I had stuck around for for such a long time. When I moved to Oklahoma, I drove down to get my girl spayed. It's always been about the loyalty and care for my dogs more than anything and I feel as if I found that, my appreciation and loyalty would and had remained. I had went in for a vet visit for my boy Unix. Unfortunately with this being such a well known hospital, they come and go with veterinarians who learn then practice on their own or so forth. Well, they had a woman I had never interacted with before but I had asked for dr Jones. Dr Jones was in a surgery. They then reassured me that I can ask her to make sure it's something he'd recommend. I explained that to her and then she says, "well I'm the doctor today so what I say goes." Of course by then I was defensive and explained I wanted a second opinion and this is what I've been told I can ask for. She then slams the door behind her and tells the assistants in the back about me in such a rude manner. I then asked someone in the front for assistance. By then, I'm upset and crying due to the bad experience. They explained dr Jones would contact me and never did. I vouched for them throughout the years. Recommended them so many times, had nothing but good things to say about them and yet this how I was treated? I no longer do any business with them. No empathy what so ever. I hope they succeed and I hope she learns that we pet owners just simply want what's best for our pets.

This has been the best Vet our family has ever been too in the North Texas area. They are worth the drive even if you live a distance. Dr Jones truly cares about the animals and has done multiple successful surgeries on my animals. We had a dog treated with heart disease that he would check on frequently. My mom has a dog with diabetes that is monitored often. They treat your pets like kids and make sure you know all treatment options and always work to give you the best advice. They are also very willing to show costs up front and they are much lower than surrounding vets. Very caring and make an effort to remember your animals names. They even write their names on a lighted board on the day of their appointment. Dr. Jones has a great deal of experience even with exotic animals too!

My very gentle and playful 11 month bulldog Mulder was viciously attacked and came back with a large bite wound on the right side of his face while he was on his 2nd day at Dogs Rule Resort in Carrollton, TX. During the Thanksgiving weekend, I find this wonderful place called SouthRidge Animal Hospital; despite the automatic recording on my regular vet office recommending the Denton County Animal ER, that was ALSO closed. I couldn't have been more fortunate and happy because Dr. Jones is perhaps the most professional, loving and caring veterinarian I've ever met. His loving care towards his patients can be immediately seen and his kindness toward their human parents is second to none. Apparently the dog that attacked Mulder not just left a massive bite, but also pulled the top layers of skin separating it from the bottom layers. It was oozing because it's dying out and it had staph infection on top of the damage. The care he received was exceptional in every way even to the smallest detail of when I picked him up with a more comfortable soft e-collar (instead of the horrid hard plastic ones that most vets put on) so he could sleep. I emailed a few follow up questions, that were returned under his direction by his awesome daughter Kirby. Needless to say, I'm switching over to SouthRidge Animal Hospital as my dog's primary care. I want to also thank all the staff members that were very professional and courteous. - David Yocum and Mulder -

Parvo? You'd never know it thanks to Southridge!

I live in Celina so it's quite a ways for me to drive to Denton but our regular vet had quoted us $1k-$1.2k for a dental cleaning for my 12 yr old cat. They said he had some tartar build up on his back molars and a bit of gingivitis in his gums and it will get worse if we don't get a cleaning done. Our pet insurance does not cover dental cleanings so it would be out of pocket. I was recommended Guardian pet Hospital from a cat rescue group on Facebook. When I called the receptionist was very friendly and quoted me $300. A phenomenal price considering what our vet was charging us. My cat went to get a pre screening done and everything was good to go! He got his cleaning done shortly after, appointment times weren't an issue and he did so well under anesthesia. The staff is very helpful and very kind and the price came out being even a little less than what they originally quoted me! I highly recommend coming here not just for the reasonable prices but also for the great experience and friendly staff. I am highly considering transferring all our pets to Guardian pet hospital even if it's a longer drive for us!

As my dog is diabetic (and has been for 2 years now), her feeding and insulin routine is of the utmost important to regulate her system. First, I was told they would accommodate her feeding/insulin schedule when I initially called, which is on a rolling 12-hour basis. However, when I was dropping her off, they then decided to tell me that they could not actually accommodate the times and it would be about a 8 hour cycle between feedings/insulin with a 16 hour gap. This destroys her medical routine, and leads to huge degradations in her energy and health. Then, the onsite staff were very rude to me about how to treat her. I have been following a 2 year routine now with my vet, but the staff told me their on-site vet knew better and they tried to change the medicine for her. What?!?! Finally, I included hand-crafted bags with measured food for each of my dog's meals. But after I picked her up, I noticed that they did not feed my dog during one of the meals as I had one of my bags returned to me!?! This means they completely skipped feeding her one morning/night which is first, entirely unacceptable, and second, extremely detrimental to her health and survival!! When I called and asked about it, and after being on hold for 20 minutes, I was given every excuse in the book (maybe we fed her food we have here (breaks her vet's prescription), or maybe you are delusional and you gave us too much food (it's not that hard to count 10 bags for 10 meals), "but yes we definitely fed her". Absolutely ridiculous, again, avoid these people at all costs!!

I currently care for over 21 dogs and have used Hooves and Paws extensively for years. In the last six months alone I have spent thousands of dollars here. They have handled nearly every aspect of my dogs' veterinary care -- including litters, C-sections, puppy evaluations, vaccinations, tail docks, dew claw removals, sick visits, and routine exams. In addition to owning many dogs, I am also a breeder and active exhibitor in the conformation and performance dog world, so veterinary care is something I take extremely seriously. I also own a grooming business and have referred many of my grooming clients, friends, and family members to this clinic over the years. Because of that long history and the amount of business I've brought through their doors, what happened today was incredibly disappointing. My dog has been urinating on herself and I suspected a UTI. She was last seen at this clinic about three months ago, so she is an established patient in their system. I called the clinic first thing this morning and asked what I needed to do. The receptionist told me I could collect a urine sample and bring it in for testing. So I did exactly that. I drove there with the urine sample, only to be told when I arrived that they would not test it unless I paid for a full exam as well, despite the fact that the dog was not even with me and I had followed the instructions I was given over the phone. Had I been told an exam was required, I would have simply brought her in so she could receive the treatment she likely needs. Instead, because of the incorrect information I was given, she now has to go another day potentially uncomfortable and possibly in pain while I make other arrangements. This is exactly the kind of experience that has become more and more common since the clinic went corporate. Prices continue to climb and it increasingly feels like clients are being nickel and dimed at every opportunity, even when it contradicts what they were told beforehand. What is most frustrating is that this situation could have been avoided with simple transparency. Had I been told on the phone that an exam would be required, I would have scheduled one or made other arrangements. Instead, I wasted my time making a trip based on incorrect information. After years of bringing significant business to this clinic -- both personally and through referrals -- today was the final straw. I will be moving all of my dogs' care elsewhere, and unfortunately I can no longer recommend Hooves and Paws to my grooming clients, friends, family, or fellow dog owners in the community. When a long-time client who manages a large number of dogs and regularly refers other pet owners feels this way, it should be taken seriously. As someone active in the breeder and dog show community, conversations about veterinary care come up frequently among fellow exhibitors, breeders, and pet professionals. Experiences like this inevitably become part of those discussions, which makes situations like today even more disappointing.

After trying a couple vets in Dallas, the urgent care vet referred me to Atlas for specialty support. We were there a lot and while we made progress, her bloodwork was still not great. And then her brother randomly got fluid in his belly. They were great about seeing me ASAP the week before a holiday and diagnosed him with FIP. They worked to get him medication that day from a local pharmacy on a weekend too. Unfortunately, FIP is still very fatal and he passed away a few days later. They were so kind when I told them. After his sister kept throwing up, we decided to treat her for FIP too. And she ended up doing so well! FIP only got an approved treatment last year, so many vets are not experienced with it. But Dr. (Daniel) Anthony was good about checking her progress and working with me on the most cost effective way to handle the many vet visits and lab work. I'm happy to share that she's officially cleared FIP treatment and observation protocol and she finally had normal bloodwork last month. She is super playful and loved to torment her big cat brother. We held off on her vaccines and spay because of everything, but she will be going to them next month for this too. I never have to wait long once I arrive and the front desk is always friendly. I'm not sure I'll be able to keep going for her regular visits since I live in South Dallas and the trek to Frisco is a lot, but their Saturday hours are a savior and if I lived closer, I'd stay a client forever.
