My dog ate reusable water balloons and I was a nerves reck. I found this hospital on yelp and let me tell you, I was beyond satisfied. As soon as we came in we were welcomed by everyone on the staffing team. The girls at the front desk were phenomenal! Every concern or question I had they were able to answer and helped us through this difficult time. They did an exam and did X-rays. We knew surgery was going to have to happen but the way we were reassured during the entire process was great. We were able to stay with our baby the entire time until he went into surgery. ( they do have a glass window where you can watch them do the surgery ) I was updated throughout the whole process with texts and the doctor called as soon as they were finished. The next morning when we came to pick him up he was happy and you could tell he was well taken care of. I can't express the gratitude I have for this place, not for just taking great care of our baby but for helping us cope through this entire process. read more

On Memorial Day, I brought in my cat due to being lethargic and not eating due to pancreatitis/KD disease. Of course, it was over a 30 min wait to see the doctor but understandable as it is an ER and it was a holiday. Dr. Ganay came in the room and answered all the concerns I had (I had taken my cat to urgent care 2 days before and the DR. didn't acknowledge anything). She thoroughly explained Yogi's lab work and any questions I had. We had to leave him for hospitalization for 24 hours and I am so glad that the staff was very thorough as my Yogi boy is a very spicy old boy. Every time I take him to other vets, they say he is difficult and always want to put him on Gabapentin to do the least like draw blood. I was glad I left him hospitalized here at this ER because the staff was so kind (I really wish I could remember their names but whoever took care of Yogi in the AM and PM). They offered me to stay in a room overnight but I had to take my 2 other boy cats to a dental procedure the next morning (such terrible timing). Of course, the bill was high but what can you expect? Its an ER and hospitalization. Yogi has been home for a little over 24 hours and he did a complete 360 after being hospitalized, very hungry and happier. The concern is the timing and prioritization during a life-threatening emergency. The patient was described as unable to urinate, lethargic, bleeding, and with a dropping heart rate--conditions that indicate a critical emergency requiring immediate stabilization. Despite this, there was a continued focus on obtaining financial authorization while the patient's condition was actively declining, including acknowledgment by staff of a dropping heart rate. This is the basis of my concern, and it has been formally submitted to the appropriate regulatory board for review. read more

Brough in my cat with difficulty breathing on the 4th of July. They were extremely busy yet they were efficient compassionate and very thorough. Dr Wong quickly examined him and I was informed every step of the way and provided with an estimate up front. I was given the opportunity to observe procedures on my cat and sit by him as he waited in the oxygen cage. I really appreciate being able to stay with him and I'm extremely thankful for the compassionate staff here. Middle of the night our Abbie couldn't get up, we found VEG (thank god) we called at 1130pm, 10 min drive to them. Once there they came out to get Abbie with a stretcher as she weighed 85 pounds, brought her inside and immediately a Dr and nurses came to help, her abdomen was distended they did an immediate ultrasound of her abdomen and heart, did an EKG and blood work all within an hour. We received the devastating news she had a mass unbeknown to us on her spleen that ruptured, due to the likelihood of metastasis they suggested not to do surgery. We unfortunately had to say goodbye to her. We were taken to a private room to say our goodbyes, once ready the Dr came in and peacefully let Abbie go, We are beyond thankful for the immediate care, the honesty about prognosis. We came in and were warmly greeted and attended. We got helped relatively right away and it took about an hour or two to get results. Everything went smooth and all our questions were addressed. On Thanksgiving, our elderly pet rat, Apricot, suddenly became lethargic and developed labored breathing. Rats are wonderful pets, but their lifespan is short, and they're prone to tumors. Apricot had developed a mammary tumor a few months prior and was nearly two years old. It was clear she was in distress, and we felt the most humane choice was to end her suffering. We assumed nothing would be open on a holiday, but I called VEG after remembering their location next to the Vons I visit. The receptionist was kind and told us to come in right away for euthanasia. When we arrived, the large main treatment area was focused on a critical case involving a Labrador, with a family gathered nearby. There were comfortable couches in a waiting area with plenty of room. We were placed in a private room to wait, which was thoughtfully designed to feel calm and comforting. It had soft lighting, gentle music, electric candles, a fragrance diffuser, and even a memory book where we wrote about Apricot while we waited. It was sweet to read what others had written too. That space made a difficult moment more manageable. Over about 45 minutes, staff checked in on us regularly, offering water and explaining the process. Once available, the doctor discussed euthanasia options. Unlike our regular vet, who uses gas, they explained that they prefer intravenous injection for a more controlled and peaceful passing. However, due to Apricot's size and likely dehydration, accessing a vein was extremely difficult. Multiple staff members attempted carefully to find one in her tail, but it was understandably challenging. The remaining option was an intracardiac injection--a needle through her chest into the heart. Apricot was already minimally responsive, and we agreed to proceed. I stepped out, while my husband stayed with her. He said she reacted briefly but passed almost immediately. This wasn't an easy experience, but the staff handled it with honesty, patience, and respect. They kept us informed at every step and treated both us and Apricot with dignity, never once making us feel like she was "just a rat". A few days later, we received a sympathy card signed by what looked like the entire team. That unexpected gesture meant a great deal to our family. With all the pets over my lifetime and all the euthanasia we've had for them, never once did a vet send us a sympathy card. We expected a high emergency holiday cost, especially given the circumstances, but the total was about $200, only slightly more than our regular vet. While euthanasia for small animals like rats can be technically difficult, we're grateful VEG was available when we needed immediate help. Everyone, from receptionist to vet tech to nurse to doctor was kind and gentle. I would return for future care, especially in urgent situations. read more

Every single staff person I encountered, from the receptionist Jasmine to Dr. Ana, were absolutely warm, welcoming and phenomenal at their roles! Gail was a particular standout too. It began when I first made the call about coming in. I felt heard, and I felt genuine empathy from the individual who answered the phone. While I ended up being there with JoJo for over 6 hours (and it took us 1 hour prior to get there due to location), I understand that unstable more critical cases continued coming in while we were waiting for JoJo's surgery (tail amputation). Huge thank you to this place! My pup was recently neutered, and while I was at work I had a sitter watching him who accidentally gave him a double dose of his medication. Its long but worth it if you love your pet . *** Dr. Yashiri the director graduated in 2017 Dr. Abed head doctor graduated in 2020 and Brooke Midgal graduated 8 months ago. These people combined have 15 years of experience. I brought my English bulldog here for a hurt leg . Dr. Migdal saw her and wanted to give her methadone because my girl was worked up.The doctor said it would calm her down. It made my dog worse with almost uncontrolled panting . The doctor walks over and says , I dont like the way shes breathing ...I thought" no shit." So the doctor says I want to give her something to calm her down . WTF isnt that what the methadone was ? The vet didnt properly explain side effects the oxygen was barely on , I know because I put my hand to it. I asked for my money back and the vet said she would return it once I left. My dog has not stopped panting so they wanted to give her midazolam after the methadone and narcan. I pretty much wasnt given a choice because her breathing was so bad. She is now intubated but breathing ok.I asked dr. Midgal how long she has been a vet , she didnt answer, i said years? She said yes . Turns out shes only been a vet 8 months. Is that ethical ? Then theres Jasmin. She was on the phone with Dr. Betty whom i assume is one of the main vets here. The doctor asked how my baby was and jasmine couldnt get up to walk 10 steps to ask the only competent person, ( Gail) here how stella was doing . Jasmines response was i can hear breathing . Then proceeded to laugh about who knows what. I spent a while on the phone with doctor Abeti who couldnt do anything but apologize. I let here know that her staff is a reflection on her. I asked her to come down and she didnt want to because she lives an hour away i told so did I and ill be missing work tomorrow she didnt care . Im waiting for the director to call me tomorrow. I forgot to mention that while my dog was suffering the vet was in the back doing who knows what. I sent two people to call her but she took her sweet time . Im so mad at myself I should of taken her where I usually go, VCA WLA but i thought since it was just to check her leg it would be fine . So I would really reconsider bringing your special breeds here . The star for the nurse Gail that explained things and provided some assurance. Gail stayed with my dog the whole time , she missed lunch and probably her breaks. She was heaven sent . So it is now 444am. A sick dog came in and 2 techs were wearing gowns and taking precautions, why did the vet ( migdal) go into the room with the sick dog without protective gear and her laptop and then try to go back to where my girl is. The tube is out and Dr. Abedi wants to jump on a teleahealth call with a critical care team on the east coast because she feels I don't trust them. Mind you , we are on the 8th dose of medicine and my angel still isnt awake. Now Dr.Abedi called Dr.Jan Hall a critical specialist out of Torrance who was extremely rude because I asked why they keep reversing medications that they insist on giving her. Dr. Jan said "its 440 in the morning , its fine." The dismissive attitude is disgusting. Now they've offered me a transport ambulance to VCAWLA. Because its obvious they cant handle this. The egos here are tremendous and it should of said they arent equipped to care for EBD. They keep saying this is common. But in almost 4 years , ear infection, ACL surgery, eye issue and i never experienced anything like this. At 520am Lindsay got the director Johnathan yashari on the phone. Instead of taking responsibility he said this happens often I tried to express upon him that if I was properly informed about medication side effects I would have left this place and went to VCA. This man made excuses about the breed , the desert , the ocean ...did everything but apologize for his inept staff. Just a total stressful, traumatic, emotional and financial doozy of a night . Please reconsider this place of you have an EBD. I think this is that update . They x rayed by baby and found possible pneumonia from panting. I also think they x rayed the wrong leg. But its 7am and im to tired to go another round with these people. We should be going home soon with a bunch of medication we didnt need 12 hours ago. *** Dr. Abeti is now recommending 24 hour monitoring. She ordered an ambulance to take me girl to VCA WLA. Let see if they will pay for her stay there . To be continued.. Now the director wants the monitoring to paid by me 4-5k. The audacity of these people! read more

My dog had a nosebleed that went on for several hours, and around 10 p.m. I finally decided it was time to take her to an emergency vet. From the moment we arrived to the time we left, we never felt neglected or forgotten. The staff was attentive, and the whole experience felt organized and professional. Yes, it was expensive, but honestly that is exactly what I expected walking into a 24 hour veterinary hospital at 10 p.m. I knew the base cost of the visit before I arrived, so there were no surprises there. Like most vet visits, they also presented a full list of additional tests and procedures that could be done, which added up to a couple thousand dollars. I declined most of them. That is pretty standard at any vet, especially an emergency visit, so I was not surprised by it. The facility itself is impressive. It is very modern, new, and open. Instead of being stuck in a traditional waiting room, the space is designed so you can see much of what is happening in the clinic. You can see the staff moving around and working, and they can see you as well. That setup actually makes the waiting process feel much less frustrating because you never feel like you have been forgotten. Overall, it was a very positive experience given the circumstances. If I ever need emergency veterinary care after hours again, I would absolutely come back here. read more

When we first went in the place had a bad stench. It was urine and it looked like a Mash unit on TV. Dr. Harris came over to us and with her beautiful and warm smile was very gentle with our dog. Our dog had not eaten for a day and our Vet could not see her that day and had recommended this place. Dr. Harris felt her back and said she had a slipped disc and said she was in pain. Our dog had been licking herself a lot on her leg so Dr.Harris had her staff clean it up and give her something for the pain. She gave her a nerve medication and she was back to her old self. Lexi and Jasmine were very caring with our dog and gentle. They treated her with respect. They gave her a shot and cleaned up her wound. Appearances aren't always what you think. They had cleaned up the urine and the place was looking better. We had walked in when triage was going on. Dr. Harris is very intelligent and knowledgeable. In some ways she reminds me of Hawkeye and Trapper on Mash. She's a little unconventional but it works ! If I needed emergency treatment for my dog I would certainly take her back here. read more

I was scared to go to this place because it is located in the more expensive side of Santa Clarita and it just looked too polished for an animal hospital. I worried even more when the staff was positive and encouraging, keeping us involved in the whole process. Like, what's the catch... right? But now that I am home and have checked the bill, I am amazed that this was not just a big show. The positivity and encouragement was authentic! My pup had to have stomach surgery following ingestion of copper wire and, although we had insurance, it was not nearly enough to cover a full range of services for care. The doctor walked me through the pricing and eliminated any charge that could possibly be put aside. I ended up spending only 25% of what I originally thought I would have to pay. The doctors and nurses are truly professional. They carry the same sense of urgency and patient care as any human ER staff. Two dogs came in for emergency surgery prior to my pup getting her surgery. The doctors worked back to back surgeries and when I told one that I hope he gets some rest he said "this is my rest! I love it!" I think that the culture of positivity might be very well done in an arena like this. It can give hope and positive outcomes for families and can ensure that good things can happen even when hope is fading. I was so impressed with the level of care my 6 month old puppy received. I was at my friend's house in Saugus for a doggie playdate (she has 2 labs, i have 2 goldens). My puppy must have picked up a bee and it stung her in her gums. Her face immediately swelled up and then her breathing started to be labored. Thank God VEG was not to far away. They immediately took my Sadie in and started to treat her. She received injections to help control the swelling and her breathing was getting better. We were fortunate to have Dr. Jamil Dowling on the night crew when we were in need of some medical investigation for my exotic. I run a toucan rescue and having veterinarian lab access is critical. Of course, one would need a specialist for exotics and that is not always feasible but Dr. Dowling has zoo, wildlife & field animal experience. He was very helpful and attentive. I love the layout of the facility - everything was out in the open and the staff allowed me to step in to help handle & even participate in some ways because he can be challenging. We took our baby Rocky to Veg emergency group and had a great experience. We were first greeted by Kimi who was so wonderful with us and our little guy Rocky. After checking in we were taken to a room with our dog who had not been eating and had blood in his stools for a couple of days. The nurse came in and took his vitals. She was so gentle and loving with him. I wish I remembered her name to give a shout out to.. she was great!! The doctor came in and eased our worries and once again was very loving as the other staff we had encountered. They had given us a list of things that they "could" do by their "recommendations" and what they felt were "most important" to do for Rocky's comfort and diagnosis. We picked and chose what we thought we'd want to start with to see if it helped. Knowing that we had 24 hours to come back to do any other testing or medications gave us a day to try before some more simple things before fully engaging in the whole recommendation. Words cannot express my tremendous gratitude to the staff at VEG for our emergency visit yesterday, 7/5/2026...but, I'll do my best. I boarded my cat son at a facility which specialized in cat care, but he was not happy from drop-off day on. Despite their best efforts, he stopped eating, drinking water, and using the litter box. In other words, he was stressed out to the max, and I was especially concerned about a dangerous urinary blockage. I picked him up and went in search of a pet hospital ER (on a holiday weekend Sunday, I might add). Thank goodness for VEG Stevenson Ranch, because it's the only facility of its kind serving the tens of thousands of pets in the Santa Clarita Valley. On the way, I called and spoke to the delightful Diana, who took down our information. Immediately upon entering your amazing facility, we were escorted by Vet Tech Zulma (hope I got the title right) into an exam room. It was a busy day; and, about 20 or so minutes later, Dr. Wong came in. Friendly, professional, knowledgable, caring, upbeat, and humorous are just some of the words to describe my impression of him. He listened carefully to "the story," gave me options, and proceeded with the examination, bloodwork, and treatment. It turned out that my cat son's stress was the culprit, and no additional services or procedures were needed. Now home, he's happy, eating, drinking, and using the litter box. I brought my dog here after he collapsed, he didn't make it. When I first arrived I told them my dog was too big to carry and he was in the truck, they ran out with a wheeled gurney and he was in the hospital within seconds. The staff and Dr were wonderful, I was devastated and in a state of Shock. They took care of his cremation and left us in a beautiful room to cry and say our goodbyes with him. I brought my dog Jax to VEG Santa Clarita for emergency care and experienced some of the most disturbing conduct I've ever witnessed in a veterinary setting. While a few staff members were kind and professional, several others displayed behavior that was negligent, emotionally harmful, and in my opinion, disqualifying for anyone working in emergency animal care. Dr. Harris showed repeated emotional detachment and cruelty in moments that demanded compassion. I witnessed her scream a dying dog's name ("Samson") out of annoyance while he gasped for air in front of his grieving family. She also raised her voice at me when I asked for a gentler approach with Jax and flatly said, "I'm not a soft person," which was a shocking admission given her role. She later performed rounds in front of me in a performative way, then told me I was gaslighting them for advocating for my dog. Dr. Willis demonstrated physical aggression in nearly every movement she made. She scrubbed off medical paste ("butt paste") from Jax's inflamed skin abrasively, despite visible razor burn and rashes from shaving. She dropped equipment, slammed objects, and had no softness in her care. When I finally said something, she told me she was "insulted" rather than reflecting on her conduct. Dr. Chavez was the last doctor I spoke with before we were removed. She spoke to me in a belittling tone, asking if I was a doctor, to which I replied no, but I do have extensive legal support and medical knowledge. She gave me an ultimatum on how to proceed, and when I asked for space to think, the man claiming to be the "medical director" barged into the room and told me I had to leave immediately or be charged with trespassing. I was calmly sitting with my dog when this happened. The same medical director - Dr. Yashari, claimed I had "made the entire staff cry," which says more about the staff's inability to receive feedback than anything else. If expressing concern, asking for clarification, or voicing mistrust due to inconsistent care makes them cry, they should not be working in crisis environments. Lindsey Black, the front desk staff member, attempted to charge me $8,000 while I was being escorted out. I had already reached my payment limit from a prior 2 a.m. charge that same day and calmly asked her to bill me. Four days later, she sent a formal letter terminating services--after the fact. The same deputies who escorted me out later encouraged me to press charges and sue, which I have done. I have already filed criminal charges against the individual who physically touched me during our removal. Despite being told that plasma was unavailable anywhere in California, I personally located and secured it--not once but twice--from Access Woodland Hills and Access Culver City. Jax would not be alive today if I had believed the doctors who told me there was nothing more that could be done. The only time I left my dog's side was when I was briefly hospitalized myself. I had asked for fluids at VEG before that but was refused. They were medically equipped to assist but did nothing. If they had helped me, I likely wouldn't have needed to leave. That refusal added further trauma to an already devastating situation. Jax is now home, making a full recovery. He survived not because of the care he received at VEG--but because I never gave up on him, even when the professionals around me did. I can't say enough! We had to unexpectedly put our dog down and we couldn't find anyone in our area. Not only did they take us but said come in any time. It just so happened that it was by a place my husband had to be or I would have had to take my baby in by myself. I call it a God thing. Anyway, they greeted us outside and helped us get our pup inside. We were led into a beautiful room with dim lights and a bed for the dog. They took their time and we held our pup and she peacefully died in our arms. On top of that they offer end of life snacks for the animal and humans. It was more money than our own vet would have been but totally worth every penny. read more

October 13th 2025 was the day that I lost my old boy. I knew that my shepherd was old and his time was coming near- I thought that maybe I had a little more time. I know that shepherds are prone to back and hip issues. Over the last two years or so my old man's hips started getting weaker. Two days before we had to put him down, he'd started having absence seizures and had completely fallen over. I still thought, maybe I have more time. We think that maybe he'd had a stroke or something, because the Oct 13th was the day. He couldn't stand up steady, he was slipping backward, his legs weren't holding him. He was confused. And still my good boy was trying to comfort us. I called VEG ER and let them know that my old man was having a hard time and that while I could get him into the car with help from my son in law, we would need help getting him out because he wouldn't be able to make the jump down. As soon as we pulled up, the staff came out with a gurney and were so patient helping us coax him out, knowing he was scared of everything in that moment. They wheeled him in, and helped him get off the gurney. One of the ladies brought him a can of chicken so I could distract him while they put in an IV. I didn't know how to tell the vet that I knew it was his time, and that it would be unfair to him to run tests and try to prolong his life...but Dr. Harris knew. She could see that I was trying to hold it together, and quietly asked me if this was end or if I wanted to do a few tests. I shook my head and told her that we were at the end of the road, trying to be quiet about it. My daughter was standing there sobbing, holding her daughter- and Sabo had been her best friend since she was in elementary school, she was a wreck and everyone was so kind and gentle with her. I didn't want to upset her anymore than she already was. Knowing that neither my daughter nor I were in any shape to deal with the billing aspects of this, one of the ladies pulled my wife aside and quietly dealt with the administrative aspects so that my daughter and I could pour love onto our boy in his final hour. The staff ushered us into a room in the back- going slowly so that we could use sheets and towels to support Sabo and give him some last bits of pride. We got him settled onto the softest, best padded rug I have ever sat on and they brought baby food out so that he could have some more treats. Dr. Harris explained what the medications were that she was going to use and what would happen. She waited until we were ready, and he was peacefully sent over the rainbow bridge to meet his fur-siblings who had passed before him. There was no rush to say goodbye. When we were ready to go, one of the girls came in and helped me lift him off my lap and positioned him so peacefully on the rug. He looked like he was sleeping. A week later his ashes were returned. Nose prints, paw prints, and a paw impression were given to us along with his ashed. I never realized just how large his paws were. A gorgeous blue velvet bag held the box that enclosed his remains. I would recommend this emergency veterinarian hospital over and over!! They were so amazing! One thing I absolutely loved about this place is they allow you to be near your animal the entire time. Even though it might be traumatic for you, it is very comforting for your animal. The entire staff was amazing. Unfortunately, my kitty did not make it, but they tried everything possible to try to save him. What touched my heart the most is receiving a sympathy card with messages hand written from every one of the staff members..
