I've been to Tacos Fiesta many times with no issue before, and I like the food but this was very suss. Customers be vigilant on your credit card statements.

We got six tacos between the asada and al pastor, plus a queso burrito with asada. Everything was really good. My fiancée noticed that they were making the tortillas by hand right there, which was a nice touch and definitely made a difference. I especially liked the al pastor, and the queso burrito was really good too and pretty filling. I also liked that they actually have a big menu with the prices clearly posted. Not every taco stand makes the pricing that easy to see. The tacos were $3.25 each and the queso burrito was $13.50. Our total was $36.22 after tax. I will say the tacos are a little pricier than what we're personally used to. At some of the taco stands we normally go to, we're used to paying around $2 to $3 per taco, so $3.25 stood out a little. That said, the food was good enough that I didn't feel disappointed with what we paid. The only other small thing was the salsa. They ask if you want everything on the tacos and put the salsa on for you, while we're more used to taco stands giving you salsa on the side at the end. I'm sure you can ask for some separately, but since we were taking everything home and didn't ask, I just used some salsa we already had. Not really a complaint, just something I'd remember next time. Overall, we really liked the food and would come back. Since we're still trying different taco stands around the area, we'll probably keep exploring too, but Angel's was a good first stop.

There's plenty of street parking and this taco stand is the best bang for your buck. It's cash only but you can also pay via Venmo or Zelle. I recently got an order of three tacos and one burrito, the total was $21. There's also tables and chairs if you prefer to eat here. Overall their service is quick and the food is cooked fresh right in front of you. What stands out about Tacos El Tigre is the buckets of salsas and vegetables that you're going to use to top off your plate.

So, when fellow Yelper and dining partner Michael B. suggested we try North Hollywood's Birrieria Familia Castro (only minutes from my apartment!) which received the coveted #1 position on Yelp's Top 100 Taco Spots list - I was hesitant. I wanted to hate it. But there is no way to hate Birrieria Familia Castro because they deserve their title. Let's explore... Birrieria Familia Castro is located near the Oxnard/Vineland intersection close to the Noho Arts District in a teeny tiny strip plaza next to a smoke shop across the street from a tire shop. Being the literal definition of 'hole in the wall'; don't let this environment detour you from dining at Birrieria Familia Castro because it is these hidden gems that are often the best (and obviously in this case). Birrieria Familia Castro is a family-owned eatery that is the baby of Anthony Castro and his parents opening the venture in 2022 and focusing on homemade recipes passed-down generations of their family tree focusing on layers of flavor and hours of marinading and simmering. Anthony begins his day with a prayer and takes nothing for granted with each patron who walks in the door. Those who Anthony welcomes will find a tiny dining space in terms of square footage and super-hot in temperature (their AC isn't the most consistent so they need to open the door as the day-long cooking heats the space); but it is clean and cozy enough. The menu at Birrieria Familia Castro is rather simple focusing on what they are good at: breakfast, tacos, various birrias (quesatacos, vampiros, mulitas, dorados) and some a la carte plates. I personally enjoyed the smaller menu as I tend to get overwhelmed with too many choices. For my dinner, I chose two Quesatacos (crispy corn tortillas filled with meat, mozzarella, onions and cilantro - $5.25 each choosing one birria and one asada) while my dining partner chose two Birria Vampiros (toasted corn tortilla with meat in between burned cheese on top, onion and cilantro served with beans and rice - $13. 49) plus, Birrieria Familia Castro's famous birria consommé. Our dishes arrived rather quickly and were served on gorgeous, culturally-authentic clay plates that I thought were a lovely touch. My desire to go against the popular fan-favorites is out the door because Birrieria Familia Castro is sooooooo goooodddd! My quesatacos were fantastic: perfect texture tortillas made by spreading the consommé fat on the tacos because throwing them on a hot griddle with tender, amazingly-flavored long-simmered meat. Even the little picked onions were marvelous. The birria consommé was to die for: an orchestra of harmonious flavor with chunks of meat swimming in the broth: I could consume a bucket of this! Yelper Michael B.'s Birria Vampiros were, by his account, delicious and "a win": hard shell with burned cheese that was a perfect combination with the pickled onions and tableside salsas and birria consommé. Micheal even mixed some of the consommé with the rice and beans which was "an extra treat". If the amazing food wasn't enough; we had a pleasant chat with the main man Anthony, himself. Anthony is hyper-focused on not only offering delicious food; but genuinely caring about his customers and how he can improve. Anthony reads all Yelp reviews to see any areas that need finessing and cares about small details of his business: remember those clay plates I am obsessed with? Anthony curates those from an artist in Mexico and he even orders plates with dividers for those who don't like ingredients touching on their plate. It is this concern and attention to detail that helped land Birrieria Familia Castro as Yelp's #1 in the nation. Although limited in hours (closed Mondays, some days closing as early as 5pm due to overhead costs and competition); Birrieria Familia Castro is highly recommended. Top-tier food, customer service and priced well - truly deserving. Don't be stubborn like me and find out why Birrieria Familia Castro is #1

It was even better putting lime on the noodles, and the vegetables helped in adding good flavor. As an appetizer, the fried tofu tasted good with the sweet and sour sauce. I was able to finish the whole appetizer before I got my noodles. The ambience was quiet as I was the first customer, but it gradually got louder as more people arrived. There was a mosquito that bit me, so that wasn't fun. Looking back, it's ironic that this happened inside a vegan restaurant. That aside, I was regularly checked in on by the staff and had my water refilled. Service is definitely a strength here, and it was nice seeing locals talk with the staff.

The vegan pastor also tastes just like the meat version, just less "smoky" and the texture is softer. The rice is flavorful and fluffy. The beans are seasoned just enough to have flavor but not compete with the other dishes. The creamy chipotle sauce was perfect topping the rice and beans. I do like vegan food but the only reference I had with Mexican vegan are places that try to add fake cheese and lean heavily on beans and rice. This business shows that you can still have all the flavors and not rely on cheese and meat. They focus on the flavors and not what would make non-vegans feel comfortable. Initially, I was going to give this first time experience a 4 star review so that it encourages me to go check out the restaurant so I can add the service and the ambiance. What you do see is at the same address (and they happen to have a Yelp Page for that restaurant too BTW) is the Jumpin Java Kitchen, which has been there since 1995! As you can see from the photos, this place that first attracted us to come, is not a full blown restaurant, nor a pop-up (that we also passed on this a.m.) but a page from the menu from another restaurant. To me, this is what one would call BAIT AND SWITCH. Now let's get on to what was ordered.. My wife ordered the Vegan Egg Scramble.. and mind you, the photo that they showcase both on Yelp and Google, is FAR FROM what they served. The key to this dish is the vegan egg... not the veggies... .and you can see from our posted photos, from this a.m. there's barely anything there... which is why my wife didn't eat it. Now there are a few things that really bug me here... 1. The Vegan & More should not have a page on Yelp,a and Yes, I am going to complain, as when we arrived at the address, there's absolutely NOTHING there to say we were in the right place, other than the address. Also when we asked the server, he confirmed they have Vegan Options.. Not once was the name "Vegan & More" mentioned! 2. Portions, what you advertise from your photos, IS NOT what you serve. O'cado we meet again…read more This local favorite has been in my life since 2018 when they first open their doors. A restaurant, a wine and beverage bar and an experience located in the heart of Sherman Oaks. Ocado can be found on Venture Blvd between Van Nuys Blvd and Cedros Ave. Street parking is ideal (metered) though there are several lots in the area. And while things have changed hands, the atmosphere, energy and vibrance remains the same if not even more so, bring it's fusion of culture as well as flavors to any and all. Open from 11:30AM til 9PM daily with brunch on Saturday and Sunday from 11:30AM to 2:30PM. Reservations are back on, but walk-ins won't have to fret much especially for lunch and the earlier part of the day. The menu is massive now with so many options including including my new favorite, their Asian Chickun Salad, Breakfast Crunchwrap, Chorizo Chilaquiles Verde, Popcorn Chickun, Jalapeño Poppers My friend Mike is obsessed with their German Pretzel. His husband Derrick loves the Mac & 3 Cheese. My partner has been impressed with the Burgers, Wraps and Sandwiches. And most recently our friend Kevin became an instant fan of the Fettuccine Alfredo. 100% plant-based goodness you'll definitely be intrigued and desiring more of. Lots of gluten-free options as well. Ironically enough between my other half, friends and fam who are not vegan or vegetarian this place is a super favorite. And the ones who are veg like myself super love it. Enjoy all sorts of occasions here including birthdays, anniversaries and celebrations. They do offer catering services as well as delivery via third party apps. Great happy hour specials from 3pm to 6pm. Gender neutral restrooms. Free Wi-Fi. Kid friendly menu. Decadent desserts. Including a new menu item, Gooey Center Classic Cinnamon Roll. Good beverage options including wine, coffee, beer, juice, tea, soda, lemonade, etc. Pet friendly patio in front with fans as well as heat laps for the cooler months. With that being said, I am also open to trying new things whenever I can, and occasionally I like to try vegan/vegetarian restaurants. O'CADO was absolutely FANTASTIC! I can't say it enough: FRESH, FRESH, FRESH! Every single item we got (and we got quite a few) was so fresh, scrumptious, delicious, flavorful, and TASTY! Honestly, everything was prepared so well that if I didn't know I wasn't eating real meat, I couldn't tell the difference. THAT'S how good this place is. The portion sizes are also pretty big and appropriate for the price. We actually took advantage of their Happy Hour Menu so we could sample more things. We walked in with my son yesterday, 9/2, around 3:30pm after parking at a nearby meter since there's no parking. As we walked in, we were greeted by Jose and his kind smile/friendly vibe. He got us situated at one of their patio tables and gave us some time to look at the menu. Once we got our thoughts together, he took our order and checked on us at least three times. Will, later came to take away the dirty dishes, glasses, utensils and napkins. He was also very helpful with a nice smile. We had water for the table but I decided to try their Sangria, which was very good. My son tried the Strawberry Margarita and said it was delicious. For appetizers, we got the Balsamic Brussels Sprouts, Avocado Toast, and Buffalo Cauliflower. Every single item was just OUTSTANDING! The Brussels sprouts were nicely charred but not overcooked. The balsamic brought a nice sweetness to them. The cauliflower was fried to perfection and stayed crispy through the whole meal. The avocado toast was also great and had a nice contrast of textures on it. Great start to the meal! For entrées, we got the Carne Asada Tacos (side order of House Slaw), Grilled "Chicken" Caesar Wrap (side order of Chili Cheese Fries) and the Thai Peanut Crunch Bowl. Again, every item was beyond delicious and FRESH. We kept saying "wow" with every bite because we were enjoying it that much! We also couldn't believe how much it tasted like real meat in the tacos. So juicy, flavorful, and again...FRESH! They had a few dessert options, but we were too full. The place was spotless clean and had a few other people dining there. They also do to-go orders and third party apps. One gender neutral bathroom, which we didn't need to use. I highly recommend trying this place, especially if you are a skeptical meat-eater. You should give it a chance and allow your palate/taste buds to explore. You might be surprised by how much you like it.
