The staff were super friendly, and were producing an incredible amount of pick up orders in their tiny kitchen. They told me my order would take a while, which I didn't mind. My steaming hot, fresh pupusas came out ahead of schedule and were well made, and perfectly sized. Amazing vegan Mexican food in North Hollywood. I went to Vegatinos many years ago when it was a pop up food stall, and I'm glad they finally have a space in the valley. Delicious Mexican food that most meat eaters would not know was ALL vegan. I tried an assortment of tacos and all were delicious - I really liked the Bistec à la Mexicana, but my favorite was the Chile Relleno. The owner was very friendly and the service was great! I'm giving 2 stars because Vegatinos does have good food. However, they don't follow directions. I've only ordered from them twice. Both times I've included an instruction of "no onions pls," and both times, my food has included onions, where I can't eat it. It's upsetting spending money on food twice to remedy for Vegatinos's mistake and also being inconsiderate of people's time. As a vegan, my options are limited. Pls do better. read more

This extensive 100% vegan plant-based deliciousness helped spark what is El Cocinero in Van Nuys, but keeps the vibe, good times and extra excelente comida (great food) all going strong. Located off Victory Blvd/Tujunga Ave this spot resides inside Leonor's Vegetarian Mexican Restaurant (also great) as a shared space in North Hollywood. Both have been around for years. Vegatinos started off as a pop up at lots of local event and festivals including LA's Vegan Street Fair in North Hollywood every year. They offer anything from savory tacos to pan con frijoles, burrito mojado (wet burrito), flautas, chile relleno, mini nachos, nacho supreme, tamales (Guatemalan style), pupusas, beverages (including their fresh Agua de Jamaica/Hibiscus water) and quite a bit more! You can dine in, take out/pick up and/or even have yummy eats delivered via UberEats, Postmates and third party foodie apps. The people are extremely friendly. The food is extra thoughtful #FlavorRich #RicaEnSabor There's parking in the rear/back/behind off Tujunga Avenue, as well as local street parking. Free Wi-Fi, great energy and open for deliver later! Leonor's is open Monday through Saturday 10AM-5PM, which means dine in is available during these hours only. Vegatinos keeps the party going those same days from 11 AM to 10 PM and on Sundays 3pm to 930pm (delivery only). Also they have Wi-Fi, are wheelchair accessible and can do catering! I always seem to miss them for the full dine-in experience. Haven't been able to pick up once and get deliver whenever I can, but stay tuned for a full feast soon ;) I know they see my orders coming in monthly lol. So it is a little confusing. Vegatinos shares a kitchen with Leonor's Vegetarian Mexican Restaurant which closes at 5 and their menu isn't available at the restaurant. You have to pull it up online. But just get the jack fruit. Just get the jack fruit burrito, burrito bowl, or tacos. They are my new favorite meal. The beans, the rice, the salsa, and the jackfruit are SO GOOD. Perfect for a meatless dinner. It still feels like moist chicken breast. The burritos are so big I have half for dinner and the other half for lunch. Happy to see this back since they shut operations a couple years ago. It's a multi-kitchen in Van Nuys so there is no dine-in or walk-up ordering. All done online. Ordered the asada tacos, shredded chicken (jack fruit) and the Al pastor. Also ordered the chile relleno plate. Of the tacos, the Jack fruit was the tastiest. The asada had "the taste" of texturized soy and the al pastor was good but not as tasty as I remember. Tacos were well portioned and filling. Chile relleno plate was a great portion size and it was nice and spicy. Flan was underwhelming. Does not look at all like what it used to and there is no glaze on it at all. We absolutely LOVED our dining experience here! The food was so good and the service was excellent! The people here are SO nice! We ordered a few things, but my favorite was the Guatemalan-style tamale. I've been eating Guatemalan tamales for decades and this one was the best I've EVER had! We also ordered 2 tacos (from their Taco Tuesday special) and my wife loved them. As a fan of potato tacos, I ordered the taquitos de papa and they were exactly what I wanted. Maybe even better than I expected. There are 3 and they come with rice and beans. Our super-sweet server, Carol, told us that they use Peruvian beans because they're "creamier" than black or pinto beans, and WOW. We were skeptical at first because we've never heard of Peruvian beans but we absolutely LOVED them! So much so that we added them to our shopping list so we can buy some at the grocery store and make them at home! We are very grateful to have Vegatino's so close to us so we can come here often. Vegetarian and vegan restaurants are hard to find, so bless Vegatinos for being there for us! read more

I love Vegatinos, the new location that it shares with Leonors is great because it offers the means to have seating for dine in! The atmosphere is really nice and vibrant! While not having a full size staff and might not be "fast food", the food is all made to order so you are getting the food fresh and you can tell it gets all the necessary attention! I cannot wait to keep returning here! I ordered the Nachos, Al's Special Burrito, Guatemalan Tamales, and Flan. Easily 10s in each department - I also really loved the salsas that went with these especially the green salsa! I wish the best for Carol and her restaurant. As a long time loyal customer of Leonor's, I was surprised to see a new vegan restaurant sharing the space. So after 5pm, this restaurant becomes Vegatino's. The staff are very nice and the food is okay. I think it's an excellent option for vegans and I fully support that. However, 8 small tacos (supposedly $27), 2 quesadillas, and 2 small drinks, plus tax and 15% tip came out to nearly $94.00. The food is just not worth the price. I don't know if she overcharged me or what, but the price tag was crazy. I can't see myself returning. Good luck tho y'all. RIP Leonor. You are defin missed. read more

This is one of my favorite vegan places in the valley. Unfortunately, I have a allergy to soy, which can make being vegan complicated at times. But, this restaurant clearly identifies allergies making navigating my dietary restrictions that much easier. The food is always super good. I usually order the jackfruit burritos and my wife orders the flautas. The portion sizes are really nice as well, allowing my wife and I to eat a couple meals from one order. This evening, I had a bizarre experience with DoorDash, which caused the restaurant, and I a lot of confusion and major delay on receiving my food. The restaurant proactively called me to find a solution to a problem that was not theirs in the first place. I am proud to patronize this restaurant and look forward to future orders with them. read more

Sad to say, it's not the same. We were loyal for years, before the business split. We have tried Vegatinos at least a dozen times at various pop-ups bc it is closer to central LA than the other founder's brick-and-morter in the valley. But every time, the quality goes down. Is anyone training the ever changing staff? Who does quality control to ensure it stays like the original recipe? I wanted so bad to recommend this to friends. It's still a *good* veg burrito. But theres always something wrong- super wet pico scooped instead of drained, leaving a slop, leaking everywhere, the rice/beans doesnt have that same wow flavor and the chipotle mayo tastes like just mayo. None of their food tastes the same but that's because the original cook and co founder no longer helps run the business. I tried a tort that had really dry bread and el pastor that wasn't at all flavorful and had a weird texture, I also ordered a burrito bowl with asada nothing tasted good to me on it. I was not impressed and I couldn't even finish the food. To me it wasn't edible... All ingredients seemed very low quality and poorly cooked. I stumbled upon Vegatinos while down in the Valley looking for some good vegan food. All the people that worked there were incredibly hospitable and went above and beyond in their service. And the food? As a vegan Latino I'm not saying this lightly... this was hands down the best vegan Mexican food that I have ever had in my life and I've been vegan for over 20 years. The flavors were incredible, the portions were generous, and everyone left super happy. The next night I bought another groups with me. They were shocked at how good the food was. The next day my family insisted on going to another vegan Mexican place close by only because Vegatinos was closed. It was nowhere near as good as Vegatinos. So... the next day we went to Vegatinos again. When we had to end our trip and head back home, everyone was bummed that we didn't have time to go to Vegatinos one last time. I heard about it 3-4 times during the ride home. So I guess that means that every single time I'm in SoCal we are eating at Vegatinos. Oh... almost forgot to mention, the owner Carol... wow! What a gem of a human being! Lovely person and the passions that she has for serving her customers good food is something that I rarely see today.
