First time here and I was honestly blown away. My boyfriend brought me since he's been coming for years, and now I totally get why. I'll admit, I sometimes feel like vegetarian food can lack flavor, but that was definitely NOT the case here. Everything we had was bold, flavorful, fresh, and absolutely delicious. We ordered the lunch special: I had the spicy eggplant with soy beef, and he had the pad Thai. Both dishes were packed with flavor, perfectly tender, and didn't feel like they were "missing" anything compared to non-vegetarian dishes. The rice stood out, it wasn't your typical plain jasmine rice but more of a hearty grain blend, which I actually enjoyed even more. On top of the amazing food, the staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly, which made the whole experience even better. This place is definitely going to be a regular for me when I'm in the area. It's a bit of a drive, but 100% worth it. A huge bonus if you have kids! they have a little station with crayons and Legos. That small detail made a big difference for me. My toddlers stayed happily entertained, and I was actually able to sit and enjoy my meal in peace. Came here with my friend and we FELL IN LOVE with this place!!! the food is insanely good. My friend doesn't typically eat vegan food but is always willing to try it for me. We both had a hard time believing some of the dishes were plant-based bc the taste was so flavorful and rich in a way the animal-based versions often are. The cheesecake was especially delicious. The love for Lotus Vegan, knows no limits. This warm inviting restaurant has been part of my life since even before I made L.A.'s iconic San Fernando Valley my home. I've been lucky enough to enjoy this place with so many amazing people including family, chosen family, colleagues and with my special someone. Chef Elle, her crew and fam are beyond super cool people who serve up possibly the best plant-based, vegan, Thai and Asian fusion eats you'll ever enjoy. From dinner to dessert, lunch or brunch (on weekends). You can find yourself partaking in a variety of dishes in North Hollywood, off Lankershim Blvd between Kling Street and Blix Street. Easy parking in their shared lot or on the street. If entering from the parking lot at the back door, you'll pass the restrooms along the way to the main area. If entering from the front you'll see their outdoor seating. Dining outside is really nice when the weather is good, but dining inside my favorite. I've had soooo many dishes over the years and most recently one of my favorites, their Pepper Steak Wrap w/ fries for my birthday meal w/ my dear friend Shaun. I spent Valentine's day here with my guy. Had group meals here with him and others. Even have taken my mom and sister here twice this year because they're obsessed and none of them are vegan. WOW! I just finished my leftovers and I am wanting more. I have always passed by this spot and last night I placed a take out order. This exceeded my expectations they have nailed down the flavors textures and spice levels!!! The service was quick and very friendly! I need to run it back with my order bc it was spicy, savory, sweet and tangy! I need to dine in next bc it was so cute and homey on the inside. The orange chicken was so perfect- crispy, saucy, and the next day still maintained the crisp on outside despite being coated in sauce! It balanced out with my papaya salad and tom kha soup, which I added spice to but also had that citrus notes to is as well. FYI - the spicy levels are legit. They use fresh Thai chillies not that dried flakes. So spicy is legit spicy and I can handle my spice. A gem in NOHO! How did we not come here sooner?! We came here this past Tuesday. It was a perfect place for a foodie couple like us and for our son who is a picky eater. We loved that it was a vegan Thai restaurant and noticed (by their anniversary flyer special) that today is their 17 year anniversary. That's amazing! We got the STIR FRY VEGETABLES W/ TOFU & MISO SOUP (for me), BROCOLLI WITH MUSHROOMS & SALAD (for my husband), and IMPOSSIBLE BURGER WITH FRIES (for my son). All had great portions and was delicious! My son ate everything and was raving about the cheese on the burger and the crispy fries. For appetizer, we got the HOT WINGS which was their bestseller. It had a good heat from the sauce, paired well with their ranch, and great meaty texture. This was hearty and filling. Yumm! Still can't believe that ranch was vegan. It had a great buttermilk taste to it. Service was great! They checked in on us consistently. I was curious about their PEPPER STEAK because of the garlic cilantro sauce (I ended up ordering the hot wings instead). The owner was kind enough to give us a sample. So nice! I got to meet the other owner, Elle, and her daughter. It was a pleasure to meet them. We connected over the joys and challenges of motherhood. The restaurant itself was warm, spacious, and inviting with wooden elements accented with colorful flowers. There's ample parking in the lot next to Lotus Vegan. The owner came out to tell us about the lot, but we had already paid for metered street parking ($2 for 2 hours). It is this kind of thoughtfulness from start to finish + delicious food are the reasons why they deserve an accolade for 17 years and thriving. We look forward to coming back! Had this place a couple of weeks ago and it was incredible. My husband got the Thai boat noodles which were pretty good. I get vegan orange chicken anywhere I can find it and this one is now in my top 3. The texture is nice and the breading and sauce are perfect. We also got a fried rice to go. This place is a hidden gem!! My boyfriend and I are regulars, and the owner always greets us warmly and makes us feel welcome. The food is top tier as well. I get the orange "chicken" and the glass noodle soup. My boyfriend gets the curry - it's all HEAVEN! It's usually pretty quiet, you can always get a table. It's family owned and one of our favorite spots to visit when we need some comfort food. I would recommend this place to bring your non-vegan friends if you want to show them how good vegan food is. I didn't think I would rate this place after my experience, but I decided to do so because maybe I can help someone not go through the hassle of taking the wrong order without them noticing--even after questioning them if it was the ONE and ONLY order next to my Thai tea. I tried Lotus Vegan for the first time last Wednesday. I was craving Pad See Ew, and I always get tofu for protein since I am a vegetarian, and I tend to keep vegan restaurants on my radar, lol. I don't live in the area, but I was shopping nearby and I thought this vegan Thai restaurant seemed perfect to satisfy my craving. I called for take-out at 8:44pm and was told it would be ready in about 20 minutes. I arrived in 15, but it took me a couple of minutes to find parking, so it was close to 20. When I arrived I was warmly greeted by a man who told me they in fact, had parking on the lot a few steps away. Great to know, but I wasn't sure if the parking was theirs and some people were in the way. He told me to take a seat, gave me my check, I signed it and waited. There was an order by the register, which I assumed was mine, and thought he would bring my Thai tea next. When he came out with my Thai tea, I said "thank you" and asked "Is this mine?" while pointing to the bag along with the Thai tea. He said yes, so I grabbed it and said "Have a good night" on my way out. He didn't reply after that, but I didn't think anything of it since he was talking to a costumer who was dining in. Never did I imagine that was NOT my food! It took me about 10 minutes to get to the Target store by Victory and Laurel Canyon. First thing I noticed when I opened the bag is I was not given a fork! I had planned to eat in my car, so that was a bummer, but the food I saw was even a bigger bummer because it was not Pad See Ew! I then checked the receipt and realized it was a Spicy Eggplant dish and I'd rather have sweet instead of spicy any day, so I started driving back to the place and a few more minutes went by when I received a call from them (around 20 minutes after I left). I answered and the first thing the man said was "Where are you?!" I told him I was already driving there because the food I got was not mine and he said "I never said that was your order", so I reminded him I asked and he said "YES", then he proceeded to tell me ONLY the Thai tea was mine. I did not see any miscommunication on my end, and I never thought this would happen, but UNFORTUNATELY misunderstandings happen. Upon arrival, he told me to park in the lot, took the spicy eggplant meal from me through the back of the restaurant and brought me my actual order. I then apologized to him (since he hadn't said he was sorry for the misunderstanding and from what I sensed from him, it was my fault) and he said it was okay. He was not rude, but it felt awkward. Now, the reasons I'm not giving this place more than 3 stars: My meal was average. I've had better and to be honest, I did not enjoy it (I threw half of it away) because I doubted whether he had already given it to the other person whose meal I had taken, even though he said no. I thought it was sketchy he took my "incorrect" meal through the back, and it was near closing time, and the other person was probably waiting for it. Also, the fact it took him around 20 minutes to realize I had taken the wrong order, when it was the ONLY order that hadn't been picked up, plus mine which was not ready yet, seemed odd. He called me at 9:30, which means my order took 46 minutes instead of 20 and it took him 20 to realize I was gone with the wrong order. That doesn't make sense. Lastly, the poor wording when he called me to drive back, which I was already doing. Maybe it would be helpful to ask for a name and keep track of time with peoples' orders. I took the only one that was there, along with the Thai tea which was placed next to it, assuming it was mine since I arrived on time. I could have been told "Here's your Thai tea, your order is taking longer than expected, but I'll let you know when it's ready", instead of giving me a simple "yes". Even though it was no one's fault, I should have been spoken to in a better manner. read more

I came because one of the members of my party is vegan and gluten free and I'm never sure where to go where we can both really enjoy ourselves, and now I can consider that question absolutely answered: LOTUS VEGAN! The flavors, the different soy protein options, and the sauces in every dish were just as flavorful if not more so than any other exceptional Thai restaurant you are a fan of. I can tell that each of the dishes are so carefully considered and there is a lot of intention in the preparation. Our server helped us decide and was careful to ensure that they use one of their custom sauces to honor our gluten free and vegan requirements. We ordered pad thai, pad see ew, pumpkin curry, and the chicken satay, and everything was phenomenal. The pad Thai was delicious, the pad see ew was flavorful, and the pumpkin curry was my favorite--the strips of beef really seemed like beef to me, I couldn't believe it! On a Friday night they had several parties but it wasn't too busy. The owners' cute daughter (who seems about 5 years old) chatted us up a couple of times which was adorable. Been here twice now and everything we've ordered has been good! Lotus Vegan might be my new favorite Thai spot in the valley! If you like noodle soup, the Thai Boat Noodles are a must-get. The noodles are like pho noodles but the broth is soooooo delicious and so flavorful. And I usually don't really like soy beef at other restaurants but in this noodle soup, the soy beef is thin and crispy! Idk how they did it but it's crisp to perfection. 11/10 would recommend ordering this dish. The Three Flavored Fish was also a favorite on the table. We all went "ooooooh this is so good!" after taking our first bite. They really nailed the flavor and texture in this dish. We've also tried the Spicy Basil Leaves Pumpkin, Pineapple Fried Rice, and Spicy Basil Noodles which were really good. For drinks, I looove the Rose Thai Tea! It's not on the printed menu, but there's displayed on a little board on the counter. Staff is super friendly and parking is pretty easy. We had parked in front of lotus vegan, so decided to eat here instead. Im normally not a fan of vegan spots because while I love tofu, not a fan of soy based products like soy chicken. So when looking at the menu, I chose an item that I would enjoy and could choose tofu. I ended up going with the yellow curry, with tofu. This option came with a level of spice. I do enjoy spicy, so I went with medium and it was the perfect level for me. The portion size was just right and ordered a thai tea alongside it. Whether you are a vegan, vegetarian or eat meat, this is a spot to try out as there are so many different options to pick from. We came when it was there off hour to close for a break but he welcomed us in to dine as we took our time enjoying all the food we order. A must is the Hot wing and shrimp appetizers! It is so delicious and the sauce on the hot wing was amazing! The Yellow curry was so flavorful and we got the spice level at 3 which was perfect. I used to love this place years back but I think the quality has gone down a lot. The Thai ice tea was 1/5 - it was really bad. It had an alcohol cleaning product taste to it and I usually LOVE Thai iced teas. Also they charged .50 for less ice but then didn't fill the tea to the top which I think it what that .50 is for. I rarely throw food out and unfortunately after a couple of sips, the taste was just too funky and I had to throw that $6 in the trash. The kind waiter explained how the food was prepared and offered suggestions for us as first timers. First we tried the Cowboy Steak and Miso Soup as a Starter. The seasoning was tangy and delicious. I'll definitely add it to my favorites list. My friend thought that the miso soup was a little bland, so I told her to add some pieces of cowboy steak in it. She did & enjoyed it! She said it made the soup more flavorful. Next, I had the Pad Thai with soy chicken. YUM! I could eat it all day. The portion was so large that I took some home and made another meal out it. It tasted like a traditional Pad Thai. I couldn't tell that the chicken was made from soy. Bold flavor from the sauce & the noodles were cooked to perfection. It was a winning dish for me. My friend had the fish burger. Unfortunately, the grilled soy fish wasn't her favorite, she was expecting some kind of sauce on the bread. The fish was dry for both of us, but remember, we're not used to vegan food, so maybe this was how it was supposed to taste. No worries, it didn't go to waste, but we'll pass next time. This was the first time I went to Lotus Vegan, I picked this restaurant simply because my son's school is close to the restaurant, so no expectation before we came. We ordered spring rolls, chicken satay, orange chicken and pad thai. My sons asked the waiter if there was any special for my bday, they free us a piece of vegan cake. The cake was very good with blueberries, cashews and secret ingredients lol. All the food was good and tasty, price reasonable, I liked the spring roll best, very crispy but not oily. Knowing it was my bday, a 4 year old little lovely girl, I think she is the owner's daughter came to me and wish me happy birthday. The flavors at this place are really on point. The fact that it is vegan on top of that is very impressive. We ordered fresh rolls and spicy wings to start. They were both great! You could tell the vegetables in the roll were very fresh. The only thing that might improve them is to add tofu or some other "meat." The wings were also tasty, and I was impressed with how the chicken really had such a close texture and flavor to chicken, and I love that they included a "bone" for the look. I ordered the panang curry with chicken, and it did not disappoint! It was flavorful, and the spice level was good. I generally can eat jalapeños and sriracha and was recommended to get spice level 2. That was a great recommendation because I do think 3 would have been manageable but just a tad too spicy for proper enjoyment. I also sampled the orange chicken, which was yum. Over the years, I've probably tried at least half the menu and it's all been consistently delicious! Our favorite Thai vegan restaurant for many years! While we do enjoy stopping by their nice location on Lakershim Blvd once in a while, far more often we'll make a gigantic delivery order and gobble it down at home-----sometimes stretching the leftovers out over 2 or 3 days. Favorites are all the soups----Tom Yung, Tom Kai, Vegetable, glass noodle....we enjoy the spicy vegetable salad, spicy fried rice, kung pow, and all sorts of other noodley dishes and stir fry ones too. You can pretty much custom design your items because they offer so many varients. And we usually top everything off with their amazing tropical pancakes. The atmosphere is pleasant, not fancy, usually some locals chowing down.....service is polite but sometimes unpredictable for speed and attentiveness, but great people! and super skilled in the kitchen. read more

Lotus Vegan in North Hollywood is such a wonderful find! The moment you taste the food, you can feel the homely touch -- fresh, flavorful, and cooked with so much care. Every dish we tried had that comforting, "made-at-home" feel that's hard to find in restaurants these days. The service was fantastic too. The staff were warm, attentive, and genuinely made the experience pleasant from start to finish. The space is simple and could use a bit more warmth or decor to match the excellent food and service. We tried the veg fried rice , king pao chicken, chicken satay and summer rolls. Overall, Lotus Vegan is absolutely worth visiting for wholesome, delicious vegan food and great hospitality. I tried the glass noodle soup with tofu, and it was delicious, par to other soups I've tried. My husband had one of the Tom soups, and it was a little bit lemony, but that can definitely be preference. Overall taste was great for a non vegan like me! read more

This restaurant is a winning place for me when it comes to Thai food. The menu has so many dishes that are worth trying, and every time I order something new, it's amazing! I took my friends with me for a late lunch. We had a full spread of items: The Papaya Salad, Thai Boat Noodles, Orange Tempeh, and The Pla Pra Sam Rod. Our favorite dish was easily the Pla Pra Sam Rod, which is translated to "Three Flavored Fish". The way that protein was seasoned, you couldn't tell me this never swam in the sea! It's prepared a bit spicy, but I promise every bite was better than the last. The Thai Boat Noodles was prepared with Soy Beef and this is a dish I want to take home with me every night. It was the most comforting noodle soup that just warmed me up inside. The Papaya Salad was a great palate cleanser because of how fresh the papaya and tomatoes were, even the dressing used gave some amazing citrus notes. The Orange Tempeh is always a classic because of how well it resembles orange chicken. But the way they prepare it here, it's perfectly crunchy/crispy on the outside and soft and juicy on the inside.
