Food was delicious and mighty healthy. Owner was so attentive and welcoming. Wull definitely come back!

We are an amazing experience in eating Healthy Vegan Food in Boyle Heights at Un Solo Sol.

Solid Vegan and the food is not only to nourish the body, but your mind and soul. We had an excellent meal today! This was my first outing since my recent hospitalization and rehab to build my body back in fighting cancer. My Queen Michele and I were coming from LA County Medical Center to follow up on my surgery. We are on a new path eating healthy food and getting the right foods for our bodies. The opportunity to first learn about a place in my Barrio of Boyle Heights and meeting Carlos (the owner) who shared his experience with us in providing healthy food to be the "medicine" for our bodies, "Sunrise to Sunset"! We had the Curry Peas Bowl, Shiitake Mushrooms enchiladas and the Green Pozole with Mushrooms, I highly recommend it. We happen to run into fellow Rough Riders

I was pleasantly surprised. If you are looking for good, clean eating food, this place is a must try My enchiladas were" tofu" pastor inspired seasoning, the other shredded calabasas, tofu light and delicious!

Food was amazing! Had the pupusa with organic masa, beans n greens and a sweet delicious steamed banana. It tasted like comfort! My gf had the rainbow tacos...which I'm getting next time! The el pastor mushrooms were made with love.

If I could give Un Solo Sol more than 5 stars, I would. This is hands down one of my absolute favorite restaurants, and I truly cannot say enough good things about it! What sets this place apart is how extraordinarily clean the food is. The level of detail and care they put into making sure they are serving the absolute cleanest, highest-quality options is nothing short of extraordinary. It's incredibly refreshing to find a spot that prioritizes wholesome ingredients this much without sacrificing an ounce of flavor. Everyone needs to come here just to taste what truly healthy, good food can actually taste like--it's a total game-changer. Every single dish feels vibrant and nourishing. Beyond the amazing menu, the atmosphere is so warm and inviting. Carlos is also very kind and goes out of his way to make every visit special, which just adds to the magic of the whole experience. You can really feel the passion, heart, and soul they pour into this establishment. I honestly wish I could eat here every single day. Do yourself a favor and check it out--your body and your tastebuds will thank you!

I absolutely love this place! The owner is so nice! This is such a healthy snack. Authentic food. The whole vibe is very chill and that of an authentic Mexican restaurant. Amazing if you're vegan but also just an amazing spot for non vegans or veg curious! Please do yourself a favor and check this place out!!

Such an amazing spot, can't believe it took me forever to check it out. They specialize in vegan food and it's absolutely amazing. Whether you are vegan, watching your weight or just want to try a new delicious spot, then make a stop here! The service is amazing! They made sure that we were able to submit our order through their QR code and checking on us to ensure that the food was good. I highly recommend to check this spot out, even if you aren't vegan. You won't even realize that it's vegan because that's how good the food is. I ordered the chilaquiles and know that there was nothing left once I was done. My table order the potato tacos and enchiladas, both plates were also delicious.

A fantastic restaurant with great health-conscious food and exceptional service. We were served by the store owner. He's been vegan for decades and shared with us a plethora of diet and health advice, delving into topics like live gut bacteria, the benefit of leafy greens, etc. He clearly cares about his customers' health. He explained that he tries to avoid serving fried food, sugary drinks, etc. There is a single-stall bathroom in the back of the kitchen that you have to be escorted to. Give this place a try. You'll come to see that food can simultaneously be healthy and delicious (:

One of my favourite place to grab lunch with vegan friends! The place is small, but the food is delicious and the service always friendly. One of my faves is the lomo saltado with mushroom; great flavour and you don't even miss the meat. Only downside is that there's only street parking and the ac isn't great.

What a sweet little find! My friends and I were in the area for a conference and were looking for a quick vegetarian bite. To our delight, we found this awesome vegan Mexican/Indian fusion spot in the heart of Boyle Heights. Our server, who I am assuming was the owner of the place took so much pride in explaining to us how everything he was going to serve us was vegan and made in house. We ordered chips and guacamole, taco platter (pastor, choya- chickpea stew), tacos de picadillo, and taco de nopales. The platter came with rice and beans and my friend and I ordered agua de sandía and agua de guanábana. The pastor was made with mushrooms in a pastor marinade, choya was made with chickpeas, and picadillo was made with a blend of lentils that had been stewed spices for hours. As the owner explained, nothing they use is made with inflammatory artificial meats. The chips were baked, the guacamole and aguas frescas were made on the spot and nothing was over sweetened. 5 stars because this place is offering the community real health on a plate! The flavors offer you that, real healthy and flavor infused guisados that come from using real ingredients. Don't come here expecting to satisfy a salty fried filled craving. Come here with an open mind and in appreciation of what healthy good for you food should taste like.

Every once in a while, you come across a restaurant that reminds you of why food is so important. Un Solo Sol is an absolute hidden gem that serves a variety of dishes that nourish your soul and also teach a unique perspective on history. The mishmash of dishes ranging from South American to Indian may confuse you at first, but know that the flavors will be delicious! Items we recommend: the green pozole that's so comforting, pupusa platter with herbaceous chipilin (heartier spinach) and beans, and the Indian kachumber salad with perfectly spiced tofu. End on a sweet note with the kheer almond milk rice porridge and don't forget to try the hibiscus drink! Carlos, the owner, was lovely to speak with.

Hello, is everything vegan/vegetarian, or do you also serve real meat?

The last I spoke to an employee, they serve eggs and chicken. They just recently stopped serving beef.

While I am not at all vegan, it can be a fantastic change of pace when trying a cuisine that is not at all my regular routine. Happily, Variable has tons of choices, and we loved what we got. I was drawn towards the 'N Seoul Bowl' (Korean spicy plant based pork, house marinated Kimchi, organic edamame, steamed organic spinach, carrot, steamed broccoli, onion , organic shiitake, topped with green onion and sesame seeds and side organic quinoa). So good, a bit spicy, and so many flavors on the plate it was impossible to not only love it, but I could not finish it, either. That goes from all their dishes. They are big, and in our experience, it came out piping hot soon after ordering it. My companion tried the 'Indian Tikka Masala' (homemade Indian curry, broccoli, cauliflower, zucchini, yellow squash, potatoes, cabbage, chickpea, micro green, Served with blend wild Jasmin rice and Indian Flat Bread). Tastes so fresh, hearty, with just enough of a kick to it. I look forward to trying some of their other dishes, too. The burger that the table near us ordered looked fantastic. I gotta think that everything here is pretty dang great.

Our server was nice at first but throughout our time there she became increasingly condescending and rude. We started with the calamari, squash blossoms, and watermelon salad. The calamari was good. The watermelon salad was delicious but could have used double the feta and pistachios. The squash blossoms were so small and dry. The "cheese" inside was hard and tasted sour. We used to get them all the time and the recipe is definitely different. One in our group ordered a beer when we sat down at didn't come until midway through the appetizers. When we asked our server for it, she just said it was coming. For our entrees we got the meatball pizza, spicy rigatoni with chicken Parmesan, eggplant short rib, and bolognese. The meatball pizza was fine but not good enough to want to finish. The two pastas were the best but not that much flavor. The eggplant short rib was inedible. They basically just peel an eggplant and slap a giant slab on a bowl of mashed potatoes. It was so dense and chewy and slimy. We couldn't swallow it. We also ordered the truffle potatoes at the start of our meal and they didn't come out until we were finished with our entrees. When I informed our server, she simply gave me attitude and said to wait because they take longer to cook. At that point we didn't bother bringing up the eggplant dish because we knew we'd be dismissed again. We were very disappointed in the quality of food and the service. They only have a hose A/C in the corner that didn't do much to cool the place down. The food though was amazing! As 2 vegetarians and 1 vegan, we had never seen such an extensive plant based option with not only vegan cheeses but meat substitutes with protein! No wonder they have been ranked #1 for multiple years. The starter bread came in a brown bag and was soft and delicious, especially with the house pesto. You could really taste the basil but it didnt feel too oily. We got the calamari because none of us have ever seen a vegan one on a menu! It was breaded and fried and had a squishy center made of pea protein that I guess simulates the real one? It came with a marinara dipping sauce. I could obly have a few because they were fried and I felt like they were a bit too salty Next the pastas came out - the Pistachio pesto and the fusili with sausage. Both were delicious. The pesto sauce was the same one we had with the bread but the pasta had Pistachio chunks in it as well and generous amounts of pesto. The sausage was chewy and the sauce must've had either the same seasoning or chunks of it blended in because you could taste the same flavor in that as well! We had hopes of trying dessert but these 3 dishes were a perfect size for our party and we had been starving ourselves for most of the day for this (probably due to all the protein included in a usually carb only meal). I accidentally…read morecame across it while stuck in traffic and we've been craving it and coming back a couple times within a month. We live over an hour away. The chicken stays crispy for a long time and reheats nicely as leftovers. Everything we've ordered is really good and crave-worthy. We got the lucky catsu, curry catsu, crispy shrimp, spam masubi, catsu masubi, orange chicken, crispy chicken. Top two favorites are lucky and curry catsu. Small things I'd personally wish to change is that the onion is too strong in the macaroni salad. Wish it wasn't in there period. And the rice is a little on the dryer side and it sticks to the container- so when you scrape up the last bits of rice, you could be eating the paper from the container. I like that they use compostable containers though!! But yeah the rice is on the harder side especially as leftovers. But whatever, their main items are bomb and makes me not care about anything else. Service is quick! Note: it is not a sit down restaurant. You order (ahead) and park on the street and call them to let them know you're outside. They'll bring the food out. Reception isn't great outside fyi. I've been here 3 times and never last long enough to get a photo before digging in. There are two other vegan restaurants right next to it, same concept - order and pick up. Great for different options if one is craving Mexican from Cena or hot dogs from All franks.

To be very honest, I love this place so much. I am currently sad because they are not open. I've…read morebeen looking every day to see when they will open back up from the macaroni to the spam. Anything that you get here is good.

The cafe itself is beautiful and cozy, and the whole team was incredibly kind. Our server honestly made the experience even better. He was so friendly and genuinely excited about the menu, took the time to explain everything, and gave us great recommendations based on what we were in the mood for. You could tell he really cared about making people have a good experience. The food and coffee were amazing, super flavorful and satisfying without feeling too heavy. It ended up being one of our favorite stops during our trip. Huge thank you to everyone there for making our day so special.

Everything was spotless, calm, and full of genuinely lovely people. The service was so warm I briefly considered asking if I could move in. I ordered a latte, the Caesar tempeh wrap, and a bowl -- and somehow every single bite tasted like it had been blessed by woodland fairies with culinary degrees. Flavor? Absolutely out of this world. But the BEST part? The names of the dishes. "I Am Well," "I Am Grateful," "I Am Light"... and when your server brings your food they lovingly announce: "You are well." Honestly, being affirmed by a stranger while handed organic vegan food healed at least 37% of my problems. I came for lunch and accidentally left spiritually moisturized. If you want delicious fully vegan organic food, positive vibes, and the experience of being gently complimented by your salad, this place is IT.

The cashier was super patient and helpful which I appreciate a ton! The location is on the corner of a lil strip of businesses so a few parking spots which makes a difference. Inside was a small setup but again super cute Here's what we got: 1. The Smokey (10/10) - it's banging! I really wanted to try it specifically because the onion-jalapeño jam got me stuck... and it did not disappoint! 2. The brisket breakfast burrito (9/10) - I asked them to cut both in half since I was gonna share with someone in the streets haha I love burritos, I love vegan breakfast burritos so nom nom nom! 3. Speculoos brownie (10/10) - it's super El Niño so the brownie was hot and ready by the time I landed so it was gooey and delish af I will definitely be back when I can push out to HP to grab refrigerated meets and cheezes! Best of the best…read more Maciel's is a Highland Park gem located on of course York Blvd - this Plant-Based Butcher Shop has been voted one of the best places to eat in Los Angeles and rightfully so. Whether you're vegan (like me), vegetarian or flex (like a lot of the world) this is a spot you should definitely try at least once or at least thrice. Impressive sides, soups, salads, sandwiches (both hot and cold), "meats" and "cheeses"... Not to mention desserts and breakfast items. Love the French Toast!! But that Reuben is a 10/10 and my guilty pleasure. And the meats are plant-based, loaded with flavor and true culinary flare. Maciel herself as well as this eatery combines passions for cuisine, health, nutrition and care all in one in this often thriving vegan-friendly area in Greater Los Angeles. Catch them also at big gathering such as the annual Vegan Street Fair in North Hollywood, Coachella Music and Arts Festival, and Open daily from 8:30 am to 8:30 pm, closed on Mondays. Some parking in their lot, but street recommend if the lot is full on the corner of Aldama St/York Blvd. Gender-neutral restrooms. And open to all.
