Unfortunate to give a 3 star review, really wanted to like it more. Came in for brunch on a Saturday, we were the only people eating during the whole time we were there. Got the brunch set and while in theory sounded great, ended up being a hodgepodge of random things that even individually did not taste great? For example, there was a random partially wilted salad, unsweetened yogurt with some dried nuts, a mini quesadilla type thing with goat cheese that left an odd aftertaste, etc. 1 star for oat milk, 1 star for having a veg friendly place near by, 1 star for it not being too expensive. I'm surprised that a vegetarian place is one of the best restaurants out of all the places that we have tried.. I got the strawberry banana shake with tofu nuggets and those were both really good choices. My friend got the vegetarian pizza and the empanadas and those were really yummy too! Over all the value here is good and the food was also not bad! The issue I did have was when I asked for vegan cheese on the nachos instead of dairy cheese they ended up giving us dairy cheese.... which we didn't realize until our second visit here... when we asked for the vegan nachos again and they came out with the typical violife cheese... so that was kind of disheartening but the vegan pizza and hummus was good. Good Wholesome Food It's usually pot luck when choosing somewhere to eat whilst on holiday, after a few bad choices we found this fantastic vegetarian restaurant, in the Gothic Quarter, my starter of hummus with pitta was delicious as was the goats cheese salad sprinkled with pomegranates and walnuts, even my bottle of San Miguel was an ecological beer. If I'd found this place earlier on in the holiday I would have saved many bad choices of terrible Tapas and ate here instead. 2 starters, 2 main courses and 4 beers approx £25, which compared with other meals we'd had was very good value. read more

Quite a disappointment. The food was very boring - no spice, no originality, no fun. As a vegetarian, I find these kinds of restaurants irrelevant and annoying, because they contribute to the idea that food without meat is no fun. We ordered a plate of mixed starters, fajitas, sangria and an orange-banana-kiwi juice, and all, except the sangria, lacked taste. The juice tasted like water with a hint of banana, and the fajitas where made with vegetables from frost. Overall the standard tortilla chips on the side were the most exciting part of the meal. The food was edible, but a waste of time given the large amount of amazing vegetarian options you can find in Barcelona. It should be said that we went to the Vegetalia in Raval and can not know if the quality is any different in the other restaurants. read more

Very disappointed by the food here. My mom ordered to Miso soup which tasted and looked like a bowl of soy sauce. We both ordered the paella which was flavorless. Was recommened this restaurant by our Airbnb host. When you walk in you definitely know you are in a vegan/vegetarian restaurant. The Decor and ambience have all the cliches of a vegan place. We started off with the vegetarian nuggets, which came with a vegan dipping sauce. The nugget lacked a lot of flavor as did the sauce. The nuggets were also a bit on the dry side. We had red wine with the meal and I was happy to say that the glass of wine was relatively cheap. It was not anything fancy but it was a generous pour. For the main course we had the vegetarian paella. This dish was a lot better than we thought it would be. After few days in Barcelona we were craving some spice, rice and vegetables. This paella delivered on all of those desires. The vegetables in the paella consisted of roasted red pepper and artichokes, and the rice was nicely seasoned. I do wish they were more robust flavors in the dish, and that it had a bit more spice to it. Overall the restaurant was OK, I am glad we tried it since it was the recommendation by local. If you want vegetarian food you might as well go to another restaurant and try their vegetarian options. read more

The food at Vegetalia is A-OK, which is what a three star denotes, right? We shared seitan cutlets in some sort of sauce (just ok), tortellinis in some cream sauce (just ok) and tofu croquettes (just ok). I seriously considered awarding Vegetalia a 2 star rating, because I swear it was the wateriest sangria I've ever had. And I must say that I had a couple pretty shitty glasses of Sangria in my travels about the country. Second, we sat outside, and though I am a girl that would choose outside over inside almost anytime, I hated la plaza del tripi, yech. A bunch of crust/homeless/hippie types (I can never tell the difference) seem to hang out here, and one was retching up his cheap beer not ten feet away from us. Third, I read really nice things about vegetalia here on Yelp, so I had really high expectations. They were definitely not met. I couldn't however, give them a 2 star, because it's a vegetarian restaurant in a foreign country with free wifi. That in itself, mediocre or not, is worth that third star. read more

A vegetarian restaurant with stuff for vegans featuring organic ingredients (where possible) in the warm heart of Barcelona. Always welcome! Lushes can rinse their fodder down with an organic wine or beer, whereas those who covet sobriety can go for a more modest herbal infusion, and not risk waking up semi-clad in a doorway, unable to remember where they live. The choice be yours. I got the veggie paella (there weren't very many vegan options on the menu FYI), which was fine, but nothing to write home about; and a glass of sangria. Also Fine. I had high hopes for this place after reading reviews. They have at least 3 locations in Barcelona and we ended up going to the one in Raval on a Thursday night. My company and I got a jug of sangria for 8,50euros - win! It was definitely was light on the wine/alcohol and more sugery than ideal, but I still enjoyed it. The two dishes we got were: 1) Vegetarian paella - This was a decent dish, however it doesn't really have the consistency or flavoring of regular non-veg paellas. The flavors in this dish were much more muted and you can feel the separate grains of rice, but enjoyed it as a rice, non-paella, dish nonetheless. 2) Risotto - Again, this was decent dish. First taste that comes to mind was... CHEESE. Again, the risotto was different from traditional risottos in the way of its texture (high texture) and creaminess (low creaminess), I felt like the cheese attempted to mimick that creamy texture. The table and chairs are really dirty so I asked in a friendly manner if the person handing out our menu could clean our table and he flips out giving me a whole attitude. Asking me to leave. He's the owner stressed and very rude. The servants tell me it's normal the way he acts. He is rude towards other customers aswell. Asking for more dishes or a spoon seems like to much trouble. If you're a vegetarian with taste buds, please avoid this place. The food is flavorless, bland, and just awful. Things ordered: veggie burger, fajita, and paella. I dined at other veggie places in Barcelona and this was the worst. The lentil burger was so dry that i needed a sip of liquid after ever bite. The tomato mealy. The only good thing about the burger was bread it came on. We also ordered the veggie paella. It was so bad that I had to stop after one bite. The fajita was tolerable. Nestled in the middle of the Gothic, Vegetalia is in an awesome location on the Placa George Orwell. It seemed so fitting to find this vegetarian (with vegan options) restaurant (& Gopal Vegan Deli) on a plaza named after a novelist who wrote about social injustice, totalitarianism and supported democratic socialism. With the injustices farmed animals endure to feed our ever growing population and waistbands, I found it rather profound! The space is large compared to most of the vegan restaurants I've visited in Barcelona and they have a pick up window outside too. They also offer quite a few tables in the Placa. I wasn't sure how busy it would be on a Saturday so I made reservations on their website. It was pretty quiet when I arrived at 4 but when the tourist season cranks up, it will be important to do. When I looked at the menu, I was surprised by how few vegan options they offer. I expected most to be vegan! I settled on the vegan tempeh burger with brown rice & salad vs. a bun and bottled water. The food came really fast which was great since it was 4 pm and I was just having lunch. The brown rice was good. The salad greens fresh but it had very little dressing. I drizzled olive oil (they bring it to the table with the salt/pepper & soy sauce. Once I added the oil and salt, the salad was great. The big surprise was the burger. The initial taste was good but then I noticed an unpleasant aftertaste. I only ate a couple bites and took it to go for Steve to eat later. I enjoyed my carrot cake from Quinoa the night before so much I ordered a piece to go. I tried a bite when I got back to my apartment and, just like the meal, it was just average. The staff was friendly and helpful. They also have animal art for sale and gave me the artists name since I'm interested in a piece. Honestly, I always want to support plant based restaurants but with the limited number of vegan options and the odd flavor of my meal, there are better options out there that are completely vegan and make incredible food. read more

Very nice surprise to find strolling through the streets of Barri Gotic. The food is fresh and delicious! The green salad is very refreshing and tasty. The veggi burger was also very good and served with a side of chips and house salsa. I would definelty go again, especially on a hot day when you don't want anything heavy to eat. read more
