After going to Vegfest LA, Vegan Street Fair (+ Night), & Socal Vegfest several times over, this is the best venue/event to attend because it's huge, enough free street parking, and no entrance fee. Come before 12 and you don't even need a fast pass to be honest, because the lines at popular places don't take longer than 10-15 min. ;)
Don'ts:
... believe every hype, it's best to actually yelp up the food truck or establishment because social media over hypes a lot of them.
... Get frustrated over the long lines. You can buy fast passes, or visit the actual restaurants themselves. Most of these vendors are locals, so it's not the end of the world.
Dos:
... Bring a tote bag (unless you plan to buy their swag bag) to carry little freebies
... Bring a reusable water bottle to refill water at one of the booths
... Bring Tupperware for leftovers if you tend to over purchase
The Amazing -
* Cena vegan 4.5/5
* Veganitos 5/5
* Cocobella 4/5
The Good -
* Falasophy 3.5/5
* Pooshie Indian Food 3.5/5
* Acai Bowls (any variety) 3.5/5
The Meh -
* Donut Farm/Friend 2.5-3 (both! Most will disagree, but I think it's way too sweet and they don't have simple yeast donuts. All sweet cakes-kind with crazy toppings to compensate)
* Southern Fried Vegan 2-4 (when it's done well, it's great. But 2/3 times, it has been underwhelming for me (soggy chicken, or under seasoned/ half effort products. Plus they're pricey and their lines are always long)
* Wokaholics 3/5 (People are just hyped about the size and colored skin. It's just alright and expensive for what it is)
* "Cronuts" & "Dip n dots" (I can't remember where they're from; they weren't here this year, but it's not worth it nor is it good
* Burgerlords (might just be found at Vegan street fair, but all these places have similar vendors, sometimes they change it up so I'm just going to mention it anyways. Their patties are bland and greesy. The Animal fries was also sub par. Try their actual location in Chinatown for a better experience)
Miscellaneous: only service animals allowed + they have atms, but most will take card. Tons of speakers and performances going on at their little stage, plus a beer garden and kiddie area as well. The bf and I had a great time as, mainly because I knew to get here early, where to park, and what was worth getting. :)
Happy Eatings!
