Fantastic local cafe with mountain views, books, and great staff. They use my favorite chai concentrate around, and have great espresso selection. 2 reasons I dont go all the way and give 5 stars: First, they upcharge for alternative milk. This may sound minor, but after the mods needed to make a dairy free dirty chai it adds up! And on principal its just a little stingy. Not even greedy starbucks upcharges, nor many other cafes who have noticed alternative milks are not just a niche anymore. Second (and not as critical) they dont offer vegan options for lunch. This is not as unusual, but it sure would be nice since their menu already shows they have the ingredients necessary to put together a decent vegan wrap or sandwich. Traveling through Golden, I was pleasantly surprised to find this coffee shop that has a lot of books, yet actually has excellent coffee too. Our barista was cheerful, helpful, and patient, and my veggie breakfast burrito was deliciously warm and toasted. I dare say it was the best breakfast burrito I've had at a "coffee" spot. We didn't stay long, but I noticed the environment was spacious and quiet, yet warm and cozy. If I'm ever around Golden, I'll make it a point to stop here again read more

Great coffee. Great burritos and sandwiches. Great space. Great book selections. But... I have visited at least once per week for the last year and most of the baristas seem like they don't recognize me as a regular. I always ask them how they are doing and I often times get a one-word response--"good". I don't think I have ever been asked how my day is going. Most of the time I am not thanked for my patronage. To contrast, I visit another local coffee shop just as often as I visit Bean Fosters. At the other coffee shop I am known by name and they always remember what my "usual order" is and start preparing it even while I am still waiting in line to order. Delicious pour over, prices were reasonable and the coffee was on point. Tried some of the crazy flavors like a strawberry lemonade brew but they weren't my style however the more refined palate might love them! I however prefer strong coffee lacking of fruit notes. This place is super high quality and one of my favorites in Golden. They serve Novo coffee which is local to Denver and they really know how to extract some high quality flavors because they are educated in their product. Good selection of food products with attention to gf needs as well but it's more simple food for a light snack than a meal. The staff is great to chat with while they're crafting your drink and there's a family element to this place that helps the flow really well so when you do feel like engaging in conversation, you feel like you've made new friends by the time you leave. It's a great neighborhood spot and it's so fun to see all the people enjoying the space whether it's having a cup o joe with a friend, meeting your homies for some games, indulging in a book club or settling for the long haul on your computer. Ample seating and outlets spaced well at the bar seating. Haven't been to the new location in Littleton but heard great things! read more

Let me just clarify that this is a bit of a generous 4 star review. Given the limited coffee offerings in Golden, this is a stretch and a pretty high rating than what it probably deserves. Really no knock on this business, I think it's nice. It's conveniently on the way to Boulder or Blackhawk and their coffee drinks are good. So what's the knock? They use Novo exclusively. Now Novo are a great local roaster, but it does limit this place. Many of my complaints about Denver coffee shops are their limitations. I can't imagine it'd be as easy for a place in Golden to work with roasters as readily as other shops, but Sweet Bloom seems like an option. The store is neat, the baristas are nice, it's based in beautiful Golden and they brew a mean cup of coffee on request. The best coffee shop in Golden, (in my opinion) but probably due to lack of competition. read more

my prayers have been answered....literally. For months, I have been needing a quiet place from which to work. With a growing baby who can now come to find me when i work from home, i needed a local coffee shop with outlet access, quiet areas and yummy coffee. Enter Bean Fosters! Its a book shop-coffee so far so good (ordered an iced coffee with almond milk that didnt come watered down, so we're all set there). All over there are private little nooks where quite a few different people could work without affecting others. Another bonus-its right by earth treks so i could theoretically hit a nooner yoga class in between conference calls and emails. :) so happy to have found this place. read more

Had the Salted Caramel Latte and it was delightful. Internet ran pretty smooth with only one minor hiccup so it was a nice place to work from. For the most part the patrons there were quiet. I liked the big windows to let all the sun in, made for a really nice atmosphere. read more

Bean Fosters is a great coffee shop with a nice atmosphere and tasty coffee. The employees are all very nice and friendly. I would give it more stars but there is one thing holding me back, the internet. It is so slow and frustrating that it's making me not want to come here any more. Every time I run a speed test, it's less than 1Mb and it's just unacceptable. My music pauses all the time, web pages take for ever to load, and I can't get any work done because of this. I WFH and enjoy going into coffee shops to work for a bit but with unreliable internet, I will be marking this off the list of places I can work from which is sad because it's the closest to my house and I enjoy this coffee shop. Please get faster internet, it really is unacceptable for this day in age to have this slow of internet for your customers. Update as of 7/4/2016 - They got much much faster internet and it's able to handle a full hose with everyone on their computers, thank you so much! I have zero complaints about this coffee shop now, the coffee and staff were always amazing and now the internet is as well. read more

I stopped in here for coffee and lunch because Bean Fosters combines two of my favorite things: bookstores and coffee. As much as I appreciate the concept, I just didn't feel that it was executed well in this case. If I had been happy with my coffee drink, I would have given it 4 stars. Alas, that was not the case. My instinct when I saw my latte was surprise at the large bubbles and strange sheen on the surface, attributing it to poor steaming. After a few sips of bubbly, foamless latte, I realized that the issue was not with the barista, but rather, with the milk itself. I have seen this before, though I do not know the exact cause: occasionally dairy farms will deliver milk from which microfoam cannot be made--it tastes okay and is not expired, but when steamed, bubbles rise and fall in a way that makes the drink look "alive," and aerating the milk does not create foam as it normally would (in fact, any foam that it does create flattens out within twenty seconds or so). As a barista, when I receive such milk I check several jugs from the "bad" date to check that the whole batch is inadequate for steaming (if necessary, it can still be used for iced drinks) and then return it to the provider. That this coffee shop did not do that, and instead opted to use sub-par milk for a hot latte in a mug (such that it would not be covered with a lid), suggests to me that they have lower standards than I am accustomed to. That's fine, it just only merits three stars. read more

Wow! This is a diamond in the rough type of joint! I loved it! The coffees are so tasty and perfectly brewed! I have the honey lavender latte and it has me craving more! The shop has a cute little book section with even a lego table for the kiddos!!! We were passing thru but I would love to come to this spot again and again!!! The staff was super helpful in my decision making telling me about the new oat milk they started carrying- let's just say my boyfriend hates all milk substitutes and loved this one! Wonderful coffee shop on the outskirts of main Golden-town. The owners are extremely friendly and service oriented and better yet, the coffee is terrific. I usually get an iced mocha which he makes extra strong and extra sweet every time, because he remembers me. There is outdoor seating and also some yummy Mame's breakfast burritos that my husband happens to love. This coffee shop is large and comfortable. You have your option of sofas, armchairs, tables and window seating. They could do with more outlets, I will say, because it seems a little impolite for me to run a long extension cord to the seat of my choice, if the need arises. Don't want anybody tripping. Last but not least, this wonderful coffee shop also sells used books -- a large variety of them. It's delightful sipping great coffee and perusing their offerings and then sitting down to flip a few pages. All in, just a great experience. I highly recommend Bean Fosters! read more

Traffic was half as bad as normal on 470 so I had time to stop in town and get a coffee before getting to work. The line at Starbucks is usually atrocious and I've been wanting something new. I yelped coffee in golden and this place popped up. I walked in and noticed how cozy and quaint the place was with books everywhere. I immediately didn't want to go to work anymore, but would rather have stayed to hang out for a while due to the atmosphere. The ladies working were all very friendly. This is one of those times where I both love and abhor that this is a hidden gem. The location, decor, and feel are all mad tacky. The coffee? The service? That's another story entirely. These guys know how to make some great stuff, and the owner is downright generous. I ordered up an off-menu item (Flat White) and it was masterfully done without any hesitation. I could see the owner and his crew opening up a posh shop in Denver and making a killing - but then where would I go to escape from work? I'm thrilled they're there, and in business, and therefore want them to continue to grow and attract fan fare - but I guiltily want to keep them all to myself.
