Very unsatisfied with the member of staff I spoke too and will not be a customer at VeloPro from now on and will definitely tell others not to shop there. The member of staff was more interested in closing down the shop before closing time than they were in making a $400-$500 sale. I was going to buy several Brooks Saddles and received a look of I'm too busy closing. The date I attempted to shop was 4-11-2018; fire the liability please before more people turn to Amazon/EBay to buy their cycles/parts. He just cost you thousands of dollars of potential future profit. Hope you enjoy my review more than I enjoyed your point of sale, really shouldn't be too hard. I couldn't get past the rudely arrogant so called customer service these guys apparently are appalled to display. I made a purchase quickly to get out of the place and returned it a few days later because I had decided that they didn't deserve my business. They had quoted me a very high price for a job I already knew didn't need to be done at that time & would definitely not cost me as much anywhere else in town. I was visiting family in Santa Barbara and needed some minor repairs on my mountain bike. I called Velo Pro and they were more then willing to make a drop in repair. I thought my rim was out of true but I rubbed my break pads down to the metal. They easily changed my pads and bled my breaks on the same day for a great price. Thanks again. Super helpful and accommodating fellas. I had my Schwinn city cruiser tuned up. They had it ready the next day. Had a bit of trouble with the tire later on in the week due to a shit tube, I went to patch it up thinking it would be a good tube and work nicely. Unfortunately the tube was "holier" than most. Back to the shop to buy a new tube, they went ahead and helped pick out the best tube and comped it. Thanks again! Great neighborhood bike shop! I'm stoked these guys moved up into my neighborhood from lower State St. This is a bike shop run by cyclists for cyclists. I do most of my own work on my bikes, but when I'm stumped this is where I go. The excellent techs (Don especially) have helped me with drive train, brakes, and suspension work with my mountain bike, and even some specialized work on my kid's bike. They are knowledgeable, friendly and reasonably priced. Best of all on multiple occasions they have worked with the manufacturers to get parts fixed under warranty which has saved me significant cash! Their retail stuff is great too - a perfect size bike shop and knowledgeable staff. They helped with with some last minute bikepacking outfitting before a backcountry trip last spring. read more

The people at Velo Pro just saved my bacon again, so I feel compelled to let people know that these folks definitely deliver. They operate a first class bike shop. I had a breakdown that required some uncommon parts. Even with the Christmas rush happening, Don recognized me and told me he'd find a way to get my parts and repair my bike so I wouldn't miss my scheduled ride a day later. In addition to getting it all done in 24 hours, as promised, they washed my filthy bike and gave it a quick tune up as well. Have to say I am disappointed in the repair service. I took my 4-month old Diamond Back Insight in for a tune-up. The gears needed some work as they were rough and the chain made noise, particularly in the big chain ring. I figured an adjustment would clear this up, but when I rode the bike the day after the tune-up, the chain made the same noise as it did pre-tune-up. Pretty bummed after spending $80. read more

My wife and I were in Santa Barbara to ride up Gibralter Rd for the finish of Stage 2 of the Tour of California (2018). Something happened with her front derailluer and it wouldn't shift. We dropped in to Velo Pro Cyclery on Hitchcock near State, they were totally cool and helpful, had the bike in the stand within a couple of minutes, and had us running smoothly and out the door in about 10-15 minutes. For sure, I would come back to this bike shop. read more

I went to Velo Pro because they were listed as a Surly dealer. It was my first time ordering a brand new bike. When I arrived, I had a great experience with Fernando- he wasn't even on the clock, but took the time to walk me through the order process. I left feeling like it would be a good experience overall. Unfortunately, it went down from there. I picked up my bike and got it home to find several problems with the assembly, including the tires being 20 PSI over the manufacturers max inflation, one tire was a lessor model than the one specified, one rim had a gouge in the braking surfaces, the fenders were installed improperly, brakes were not adjusted at all, and the front derailleur was not tuned. I later came to find out the pedals were installed without washers, permanently gouging my aluminum cranks. When we contacted them to resolve these issues, I was given the run around and ultimately the issues were ignored. I wish I could have had a better experience when spending $2000 to commission my first new bike. I will be finding somewhere else for my bike needs. read more

Worst experience with a bike shop. went in to have some rims laced what a mistake. Explained in detail what I wanted simple request all black spoke and nipple, but the stoner working the register forgot to write down what I wanted or that's the excuse I got. Long story short they charged me $235 to lace up a pair of rims and put brass nipples on the spoke. All black is what I asked for, when I asked why they dropped the ball all I got was excuses and that it looked better the way they laced them. What a joke where's the customer service, the manager then mentioned that they could lace them up with black nipples at an additional $80 a rim what is that I have to pay for you and ur crew dropping the ball. I Would never recommend this shop, garbage customer service. They don't care read more

Have had some pretty good experiences here, but dropped by this afternoon to see about packing & shipping a pair of mountain bikes. Was told they don't do that anymore given "how much trouble it would be to find a box of the right size," and that "most shops don't do that anymore." That would be a sign of the bicycle apocalypse, if only it were true. Went down the road to Bicycle Bob's, where they gladly took the bikes for packing and shipment, and reminded me why Velo Pro isn't always the right choice for friendly local service. read more

When I finally realized I had to invest in a bike that wouldn't breakdown going up a small hill, I spent a week looking in the bike shops in SB. The staff at Velo Pro took the time to show me what they had, and find a bike in my price range. I have had the bike for 4 years. If anything happens to it, they take care of it for a reasonable price. It's also nice that you can drop it off over night and pick it up at a convenient time. read more
