Great and friendly service ! I was in town for family weekend and urgently needed my son's bike repaired as he uses it to get to and from his apartment to class. Even though they were extremely busy had a long waiting list, they took the time out of their schedule and repaired the bike enough to allow him to use it until he could bring it in for a full tune up. Extremely happy with Velocity. Brought my sons bike in for brake work, needed front and back. I had put the bike together but obviously not well haha. I was told about the Bronze level tune up which not only covered the brakes but a few other minor touches. I also wanted the tire sealant. They quoted me and told me about 9 days, which for me was ok as I was about to leave for vacation. Well, to my surprise they called me a few hours later saying it was ready! Living 2 hours away I was not looking forward to making this trip again. Luckily, I was still in Lubbock and able to get the bike without another trip. read more

I am back for another review after a third visit. Was back in Lubbock from Fort Stockton to visit our son, so I called the guys at Velocity and asked if I could bring in my bike for a tuneup, new handlebar tape, some new cleats for my clipless pedals and re-calibrating my cyclometer. They said to have it to them by the time they opened on Saturday and they could turn it around. They were finished by 2:00 pm, the price was right and my bike is now set for another 1,000 miles out in the wilds of Pecos County! Cannot say enough good stuff about this place. I stopped by yesterday after all week of trying to fix a tire on my own. I recently picked up a bicycle on OfferUp for free and the tires were cracked and inner tubing filled with green slime. Jonah, one of the bicycle repair specialist informed my sister and I that green slime is often used to prevent the tubing from bursting if the terrain is rugged with rocks. It's basically a sealant, but for bicycle tires. The bicycle had not been used by the previous owner, but Jonah ensured me that he'll have it fixed quickly as possible. Sure of enough, the wait wasn't long as my sister and I watched Jonah change out the tubing and tires. He had a thrill as both tires bursted right in front of him goozing with foam like slime coming out & the inner valve shot out too. It surprised Jonah, the other repair specialist, my sister and I as it was a experimentation in a chemistry lab. The vibe here is all around friendly, Jonah was eager to assist and teach us a little knowledge about bikes, I recommend this bicycle shop for your bicycle needs! read more

Took a bike in here for what I thought would be an $11 flat tire fix ($6 tube/$5 labor). My final bill did end up being much higher than that but only because these guys know what they are doing! They work on bikes every day all day and all types of bikes. He got my unrideable bike back into rideable condition. They are currently running 9 days to 2 weeks behind on repairs...so call ahead. They also sell electric bikes. Even though there is a "bike shortage" right now, they have several great ones to choose from and if you buy one there they will service it for you. read more

Friendly, competent, reasonably priced. I purchased an elliptical bike online, put it together myself, and have had to have a couple of adjustments made (partly because I'm no expert here). Came in for a new chain. The guy that fixed it for me knew exactly what I needed and took care of it fast. It only took 15 minutes and he was very friendly and answered all my questions. This is a great bike shop. I cycle a fair amount (50+ miles a week) but always drag my heels taking my bike in to get serviced for the inevitable wear and tear because I hate being condescended to or upsold, which has happened to me at almost every bike shop I've ever been to. But not at Velocity! When I first moved to Lubbock, they gave me a skewer for free for my commuter bike after mine got lost in the move, which started us off on the right foot. Since then I've taken my racing bike in twice for various maintenance. The service has always been stellar and quick, and I find the prices to be really reasonable, too. I see them out from time to time on group rides, too, so I know they're walking what they talk! Definitely my bike shop of choice in town. read more

I was in town from Dallas for Buffalo Springs 70.3 this past weekend. My bike's Di2 groupset has been having problems draining the battery so I brought it in the day before the race to charge it up. The shop didn't have the charger to fit my battery so they made some calls and found a friend to bring one to the store. I came in around closing time to pick it up and they refused any kind of payment. Excellent shop and customer service. That is what keeps customers coming back. If you are new to cycling, DO NOT get a bike from this store!!!!! They talk a very good game. When my husband went in, they said they would do this & that. He ordered the bike he wanted because it was not in stock, fairly pricey I might add. When we went to pick the bike up, they just handed it to him, took his hard earned money, and said thanks! They didn't even get the door for him!!!!! They did NOT fit him for the bike or anything else! He had to go back in to ask how to take the front tire off to get it in our vehicle. The guy showed him and watched as my husband and I loaded it! Terrible experience! When he called to complain, the owner did not bother to return his phone call! They do not take returns, or he would have taken it back and went to another store! Shop somewhere else if you need a bike!!!!!!!!. read more

I went in looking for a new bottom bracket. The guy that helped me explained that it is recommended I bring the bike in to ensure the correct size. He then said, "I can even throw it on for you real quick." I told him thanks but that this was my project and I could do it. While he was--what I thought--measuring my bike, I looked around the store. A few minutes later he said he was done. When I walked back over to my bike I noticed he put the part on. Assuming he was just doing this to be nice (because I previously stated I could put it on myself) I didn't say anything. Then as I was checking out he charged me $15 in labor! haha. A little frustrated by the unexpected charge, I left without saying anything to avoid conflict. After getting home I realized that I needed a new chain so I went back, brought my bike in and asked if they had a chain that would fit. I started to walk around while he looked, when he asked , "Do you mind a colored chain?" I said "yeah, I do. I would rather just wait until you had just a regular one, I'm in no hurry at all." He then told me to wait and that he might have a solution. While he looked for a solution I walked around the store. When he finished, I had not one, but two BMX chains linked together (that were chrome) on my road bike, already cut to fit and everything, without ever asking me anything! Or telling me that I was going to have to buy two chains! I'm not one to cause a scene so I left. Around twenty minutes later I went back in there to return the chain and It took having to literally argue with what I think was the manager to get them returned. I just thought the whole thing was unprofessional and could have easily been avoided. read more

Velocity Bike Shop has helped me to maintain my road bicycle from 1989. They've always clearly explained options. They have always completed the work on the bike quickly (and ahead of schedule). I have never felt that they've charged more than a service is worth. They have always been pleasant and straightforward.
