During my lunch, I've been taking my bike to various bike shops around the midtown Sacramento area to browse around and ask general cycling questions or assistance with my bike if I feel like something doesn't feel right. Overall, my experience with various shops have been just okay. I would get the feeling that because I do not have an expensive bike, that I'm looked at differently. However, with Pacos, the staff here are EXTREMELY friendly and helpful. I brought my bike in with some concerns regarding my gears shifting, and Pancho took my bike onto the rack to inspect it. I was prepared to be given a diagnosis and perhaps a quote to see how much they would charge if I had them fix/adjust it for me. Instead, Pancho just took it upon himself to make these micro adjustments himself and even identified that my front derailleur was crooked and my front wheel was loose. Again, Pancho just made those adjustments himself to make sure everything was properly before I left the store. On top of that, I was not charged a dime. Totally unexpected, but highly appreciated! Fast forward to my second time coming to this shop, I was greeted by different staff. Yet, it was still the same high, friendly energy as the last time. Ayrton was there to assist and help me identify and issue I was having with my brakes. The way he spoke to me and went above and beyond to find answers he himself didn't know was much appreciated. Ayrton is a very friendly and outgoing guy and made sure I was taken care of before I left. The culture and energy of the staff here have been a fantastic experience and I highly recommend any cyclist to visit this store! Their inventory was impressive, the store is spacious and clean, and if I ever need cycling services, I am definitely coming back.

After deciding to purchase the bike they held for me they did an inspection on the rack to make sure everything checked out. Special thanks to Margie and the bike mechanic. Love my black Specialized Roll 3.0. Thank you again for a great experience!

I have brought many styles of bikes here over the years and have always had a 10/10 experience. Fair prices, variety in selection of bikes that both new and used and for all types of riders, young and old. A great selection of lightly used bikes too, and the BEST selection of gently used parts and accessories. I searched high and low online, and figured I needed a tube liner that protects against those hard short thorns. I decided to give this place a shot. Came in and they recommended tube liner, and a thicker tube. They showed me how to cut the corners off the liner, along with tapering them, and overlap them, so it doesn't rub against the tube and create a flat. Also, gave me a short tutorial on how to install them, I had read some people really struggle with it. The tubes I got were REALLY thick and heavy. The install of the liner and new thick tubes went off without a hitch, very simple, even a caveman could do it. 2 weeks later, no flats, even after finding up to 5 thorns in the tire one day. Appreciate all the advice, even advising my son take a different route, and stay off of anything that needs water to live. Thank you!

I'm in my 20s now and know absolutely zilch about bikes. My chain snapped and I brought it into the bike kitchen. I paid $10 cash for the shop fee and immediately a volunteer helped me mount up my bike and get to work. He was so welcoming and fun to work with. We evaluated whether or not my chain was salvageable, and decided we should take a few links from a chain in the back, and add it to mine. It was only $3, and from there he taught me everything about repairing a chain. He was so nice and helpful, I used the tools and he kept watch to make sure I was doing it right. Sometimes that can be stressful, but he made sure it was a fun environment and we laughed almost the whole time. I could not recommend this place more. For them, its really just about the bikes. It felt amazing to fix it myself, and learn something about my bicycle. The volunteer also helped inspect my bike to make sure nothing else needed fixing. He explained it like, "you already paid the shop fee, lets see what else we can do". I hope I learn enough to volunteer here one day. Truly a 10/10 experience.

One of their workshops was even a Bike Jewelry Workshop where people made jewelry from bike parts. SBK is focused on making cycling affordable and accessible while teaching bike maintenance and safety classes to help people become more independent riders. Besides the bike shop, they also do community outreach projects and are always looking for volunteers if you're interested in helping out!
