The dim lit room with tall ceilings, chandeliers, and mural artwork is spacious and modern with a bumping 2000's R&B playlist to set the mood on a Saturday night. The Latin Caribbean fusion menu consists of small bites such as the ropa vieja croquettes with a red wine demi glaze perfect for a late night craving. Their cocktails are strong and tasty with premium liquor. The 50 Cent Scoop features Branson cognac with a strawberry purée mixed with champagne. The Newsroom closes at 11 PM but the Lost in Paradise rooftop is located in the same hotel and is open until 4 AM if you want to continue the party.

Unfortunately, there was none of that on a Friday night. It also wasn't busy at all. The music was very loud, the space was extremely dark, and the overall vibe didn't match the hype. I ordered appetizers and entrées, but everything came out at the same time. The timing definitely needs improvement--by the time I got to my entrée, it was cold, and I felt rushed trying to eat everything at once. The drinks were good, and most of the food was good as well, but I would skip the lamb chops--they were dry and lacked flavor. Overall, some potential here, but the experience fell short of expectations.

As I said it's a snug spot. Definitely make reservs if you want a table. After a certain age I realized I may need a seat. LOL. The ambiance nice, cozy, and intimate The drinks are worth every penny The music was not too loud and I went on a night (Thursday) that I knew alllll the music and could sing along And service was on point. Two things you should know before going. The first they are a stickler on punctuality. You need to be on time for your reservation if not you will lose it. In addition they will send you about 5 reminders leading up to your visit. The last one being 30 minutes before your arrival. In addtion you only have 90 minutes at a table . And when the 90 minutes over.... its over, however you are welcome to stand. The second thing, this is not a let's get lit hookah kind of spot. Very GROWN and mature. You sing along with the people next to you ...you vibe. This is great for a person who wants a nice lounge vibe, great drinks, great music, and mellow crowd. It goes without saying....I WILL BE BACK!!!!!

The whole experience is fun, a little mysterious, and honestly just exciting. The inside is just as stylish as the staff--everyone fits the energy perfectly and makes the night even better. You need a password (easy to find online), and you go through a hidden door down a staircase. But it feels more like a novelty than anything else. NYC has way more iconic speakeasies, so this isn't somewhere I'd go out of my way for more than once. Nothing wrong with the vibe--it's Times Square, so you already know what you're getting--but it's definitely a one-and-done kind of spot. The drinks are good and super fun, but they're very extra (smoke, presentation, all that), so between that and how packed it gets, it can take a while just to get one cocktail. Didn't try the food. Overall, go for the pics and TikToks--it's perfect for that. I'd recommend checking it out once, but I don't really see it being a repeat spot.

And right now, hidden in the depths of Brooklyn, you can experience a preview of heaven's drink. It features a recipe invented by God, tested by Jesus and imbibed by his favorite apostles. Said recipe includes, strawberry, pineapple, shiso, pickled brine, jasmine pearl, pickled plum syrup....and it's topped with a COCONUT-PANDAN FOAM that will make you lick your stomach, it's so effing delectable. I haven't stopped thinking about Acid Rain since I had it. I think I might even have prayed about it a little. I definitely dreamed about it--glorious, heavenly dreams featuring endless clouds of that pandan foam, all waiting for me to consume them. Oh my lord. We also got the tart and fiery Passion Of Okinawa, which was fab in its own way. And the Wanpaku Fries to tide us over until dinner. But that first drink. I am 100% on board with mitigating climate change, but I won't lie that I kind of pray for Acid Rain on a near constant basis. It's just....so delicious.
