Unfortunately, there was none of that on a Friday night. It also wasn't busy at all. The music was very loud, the space was extremely dark, and the overall vibe didn't match the hype. I ordered appetizers and entrées, but everything came out at the same time. The timing definitely needs improvement--by the time I got to my entrée, it was cold, and I felt rushed trying to eat everything at once. The drinks were good, and most of the food was good as well, but I would skip the lamb chops--they were dry and lacked flavor. Overall, some potential here, but the experience fell short of expectations.

The space was…read morebuzzing without feeling overcrowded, the music was right, and the energy felt fun, social, and lively. It's the kind of place that works for a night out with friends, a date, or even a small celebration. What really stood out was the presentation. Every dish and drink was brought out with intention and creativity. You can tell they care about how the experience feels, not just how the food tastes. It made the night feel elevated without being pretentious, which a lot of reviews online also point out. Food-wise, everything delivered. The jerk chicken egg rolls were a standout. They were actually real egg rolls, crispy and well-structured, not soggy or overstuffed like you get at places that try too hard and miss the mark. They had a nice kick of heat but were still balanced and enjoyable. We also had the guacamole with shrimp, which was lightly fried and really well done. The shrimp added great texture and flavor without overpowering the guac. The sea bass came out whole, which was impressive on its own, but we asked if it could be cut in half so we could share and the staff handled it perfectly. It was cooked beautifully and ended up being one of the highlights of the meal. Presentation again was spot on, and it tasted just as good as it looked. Drinks were solid across the board. Based on both my experience and what others have mentioned in reviews, I'd recommend sticking to the cocktails as they're listed on the menu. They're clearly well thought out and balanced. Trying to modify or reinvent them doesn't really add anything, since the menu drinks already do what they're supposed to do. Overall, The Newsroom lives up to the hype it gets online. Great vibes, creative presentation, strong food execution, and a cocktail menu that works best when you trust it. Definitely a spot worth returning to, especially on a weekend night when the energy is high.

As I said it's a snug spot. Definitely make reservs if you want a table. After a certain age I realized I may need a seat. LOL. The ambiance nice, cozy, and intimate The drinks are worth every penny The music was not too loud and I went on a night (Thursday) that I knew alllll the music and could sing along And service was on point. Two things you should know before going. The first they are a stickler on punctuality. You need to be on time for your reservation if not you will lose it. In addition they will send you about 5 reminders leading up to your visit. The last one being 30 minutes before your arrival. In addtion you only have 90 minutes at a table . And when the 90 minutes over.... its over, however you are welcome to stand. The second thing, this is not a let's get lit hookah kind of spot. Very GROWN and mature. You sing along with the people next to you ...you vibe. This is great for a person who wants a nice lounge vibe, great drinks, great music, and mellow crowd. It goes without saying....I WILL BE BACK!!!!!

It has easily earned a spot as one of my favorite bars of all time. The underground space flawlessly captures a raw, seedy, 1980s rock 'n' roll vibe, with eclectic decor that extends beautifully to the themed menus and custom glassware. Sitting at the bar was a highlight--the bartenders were fantastic, clearly proud of their craft, and they even humorously indulged my game of trying to guess the ingredients of each drink they mixed. The cocktail lineup is phenomenal. A few absolute highlights: the Purple Rain with its purple ice and peppercorn, the flambéed Dirty Dancing, a brilliant espresso martini riff called Flick The Bean, and Pure Temptation--which has glassware you just have to see for yourself. Don't miss this place if you're in NYC!

You need a password (easy to find online), and you go through a hidden door down a staircase. But it feels more like a novelty than anything else. NYC has way more iconic speakeasies, so this isn't somewhere I'd go out of my way for more than once. Nothing wrong with the vibe--it's Times Square, so you already know what you're getting--but it's definitely a one-and-done kind of spot. The drinks are good and super fun, but they're very extra (smoke, presentation, all that), so between that and how packed it gets, it can take a while just to get one cocktail. Didn't try the food. Overall, go for the pics and TikToks--it's perfect for that. I'd recommend checking it out once, but I don't really see it being a repeat spot.
