I stopped by for an Iced Black Tea ($3.75) on a hot day. The tea was standard and the cup was completely filled with ice. If it wasn't such a hot day, I would've been more upset. Despite that, I do love this space. There's plenty of seating including a large shared table in the back. There's also an outdoor patio as well. Plus, the AC was blasting in here. This is a cute coffee shop with plenty of space to sit & get work done. I ordered the iced Americano which was refreshing and good. They also have a good pastry & cookie selection if you're in the mood for something sweet, but I didn't grab any this time. One of the best part about this spot is that they have lots of outlets throughout, making it an easy to work from home and stay put. They provide WiFi if you're short on data. Our drinks were ready pretty quickly, but we did visit during a quieter time around 4:15pm on a Sunday. They're open daily from 7am to 7pm, so definitely worth stopping by! read more

I'm surprised at the negative reviews here because I really like this spot! Their cold brew is great, so much better than alternatives in the area like Hungry Ghost. Yes, it's a working cafe but what's wrong with that? It's nice to be able to work in cafes in the area and I like that it's open till 7 pm. read more

I've been here a bunch of times on my morning walk up to Prospect Park after stopping in for a cappuccino. However, the last time I went in there the service was horrific ! After repeating my order 3 times I suggested the barista have a cup of coffee too. Then I was rudely told by his protector, or manager...?, to leave and not to return.....! I mean if you're going to make me work for my order and charge me...... I'd rather go somewhere else anyway!! Not to mention the fragile egos of the staff makes it a joke! There are two other amazing coffee shops within a block of this one. I suggest you search a little deeper and choose any one of the truly friendly neighborhood coffee shops in the area. There's nothing in particular that makes this one any better than the many other coffee shops in Park Slope. This is definitely not a #trulybrooklyn spot. Thumbs down read more

Looks nice but there is never a place to sit because you get single occupants with laptops taking all the seats and they stay forever. Might I suggest you make this a NO LAPTOP cafe? And one guy even had his feet up on the facing chair - see photo I just uploaded. Maybe fine if you're just doing takeout but then save the money and make your coffee at home. I truly love this coffee shop. Corner coffee shops in Park Slope are truly a dime a dozen and when an addict is an addict, 50-cent bodega jet fuel will do but Velvette coffee truly lives up to its name. The coffee is dark, rich and smooth. I hate acidic coffee. The signature velvet latte is exceptional. A decadent treat. They have a lovely selection of Italian based sandwiches and sweets to keep the delicious brew company and the ambience inside is quiet; a pleasant place to sip and daydream. Fantastic local coffee shop. It's a bit smaller and darker than other shops in the area, given that it's on the ground floor. But there's ample amount of 2-person tables with a larger family style table in the back. Overall clean, neat, and a good place to work from. They're still working on the backyard as of this writing. Espresso drinks are very good, iced latte is my go to and tastes balanced and delicious. The baked goods are all fantastic looking. I've only tried the cookie so far but it was excellent, soft and chewy with a bit of a crispy edge. The owner and staff are absolutely wonderful. Kind and welcoming, you can tell they care about what they do and who they serve. Support your local shops! read more
