Cute coffee shop with lots of character! The cappuccino was one of the best I've had in a while. A perfect crema on top! The spinach and broccoli quiche was great too. A perfect bite before exploring all the other wonderful shops and eateries in the Red Hook neighborhood. I'd imagine the back patio is wonderful in the spring and summertime! Looked to be a mix of locals and visitors.

Sweet little cafe I stopped at on the way to IKEA. Admittedly, Red Hook is still not that built-up of a neighborhood, but this is one of the cuter spots, and it's got a deliciously refreshing hibiscus peace black tea (their seasonal special) and a gorgeous backyard to relax in. Great indoor seating too and very nice staff.

What an amazing hidden gem in Red Hook! Fantastic all around--they embody a full 5 stars. I was on the hunt for a solid breakfast spot to help cater a film set I was coordinating while also supporting a local business and could not have been happier to have landed here. Jonell is the absolute best and helped me put together my order. They have 96oz coffee carafes (~$30) filled to the brim with their hot drip coffee. Jonell was so kind and provided a selection of milks, sugar/sweeteners, and stirrers for a minimal additional fee. The coffee was phenomenal! Such amazing depth of flavor and great value. There were no leftovers there!! They also have a selection of yummy pastries (including some that are Gluten Free!), of which I tried many. My favorites were the cheese danishes and gluten free lemon loaf--so delicious and not too sweet. Service was consistently kind, professional, and welcoming. The ambience is lovely, chill, and quiet. It's one of those places that you immediately feel good vibes when you walk through the door. If you're in the Red Hook area, I highly recommend you check this spot out! I'll be back 100%.

Super cute cafe with some delicious drinks. The service overall was super friendly, and there were quite a few tables inside and out - people chatting over coffee, reading, working on laptops.. overall, it seemed like an established neighborhood spot. Would return next time I'd like my caffeine fix in the area!

I took a walk here to grab some coffee after running a few errands in the area & a quick Google search. This place is really a hidden gem because I've frequented this area numerous times and can actually say that I've never noticed it. I visited on a weekday during the morning & it was fairly empty. There were a few people working on their laptops or conversing with one another. For the most part, it was fairly quiet. I ordered an iced coffee & a bacon & egg quiche. I intended to just get a coffee & leave but I couldn't leave without trying the quiche because it looked entirely too good to pass on & I have to say that it was delicious! It was my first time having quiche & I was definitely not disappointed.

I wonder how many collective hours of my life I've spent here? I love Red Hook deeply, and some of my favorite days living in New York have started here. Two different types of roasts of espresso (light or dark), plenty of seating, and usually a copy or two of the Times to share with neighbors. They also have a bunch of pastries and sandwiches, and really good freshly squeezed orange juice.

I did a quick search for cafes in red hook because I don't trek there often (note: at all)) I was going to red hook lobster pound and wanted a place afterward to wait out the rain and to do some work. Luckily, black flamingo is only 1 minute walk away across the street Decor wise, I wouldn't have been surprised if it was a former speakeasy bar. It looks from the outside and the photos inside remind me of 1910s-1920s. But unlike those times, this place has wifi available inside and in their garden (I didn't go because #rain) but it looked cool through the window Menu wise, they have all the expected options for coffee (espresso, latte, etc.). But I appreciated that on their board they listed the tea options they had which was more than 4. I took a London fog because it is my go to. It was decent and they also had different types of sweeteners for me to use. They had some pastries on display including sandwiches from court street grocers and quiches. But I was pleased by the fact that since they had some pastries left over, they asked if we wanted any to take home for free (since it was close to closing at 4pm). I gladly took a croissant home. The cafe is right in front of the B61 bus stop to downtown Brooklyn so if you need the bus and is taking a while, this could be a place to wait

I really enjoyed coming to this nice little place. The coffee is smooth and enjoyable and the service is speedy and attentive. If the weather is nice, try sitting out on the patio. There you will enjoy warm morning sun, fresh air and chipping birds. The Black Flamingo is the perfect place to start your morning in Red Hook.

Red hook has a few nice spots to hit if you're ever on Van Brunt and the Black Flamingo falls into that category. Cute little cafe, pretty small but enough tables for you to drink a brew, work or just relax. We sat in the adorable little patio in the back. Drinks: iced almond milk latte was okay - wife said nothing amazing but good. Almond milk cortado was on point. I got it with the medium roast. Like how they offer the selection of medium or dark. Overall drink was smooth and hit the spot. Food: ordered the cheddar chive jalapeño scone/ biscuit and it was fantastic. More of a biscuit than a scone but despite me not knowing how to name it, I can say it was yummy. Loved the heat from the jalapeño and the creaminess from the cheddar. Overall I liked this place and would go back. The staff was very friendly and the patio is worth hanging out in.

We ducked in here to warm up and to grab a caffeine boost on our visit to Red Hook. Mocha latte was delicious. As was the ham and cheese quiche.

I don't find many bakeries baking with fig so this was a sweet surprise and they delivered! Their menu switch up each season keeps me intrigued. Their matcha is decent and usually my go to. However, I am not a fan of the soups. They tend to taste bland. However, if you're in the area it's still worth visiting. There is very limited seating.

Some would say it's too convenient and accessible to be true. I say that this neighborhood is ripe for all sorts of possibilities, and I am glad the owner (Daniel) sees this vision just as I do. This is a clean, bright, unpretentious spot serving high quality drinks and baked goods. Daniel is a sunset park local who grew up in the neighborhood and has perfected every little detail of this space himself. His enthusiasm is absolutely what the landscape has been needing for so long. I stopped by to grab myself an iced matcha and enjoyed talking about all the other things he has in store for the space. He offered me a taste of the strawberry milk. I generally avoid a lot of sugar but the taste was phenomenal without being overpowering. My drink was made with care, with just a dash of organic strawberry syrup, free of harsh dyes. It was exactly what I needed. Outside the space there is some outdoor seating for you to enjoy a peaceful moment to yourself. There is so much promise this cafe holds and delivers to the neighborhood.
